On this weeks episode of Chicago Sports HQ chatter, it is all about March Madness as the NCAA tournament brackets were released. Cole and I break down each of the regions and reveal our final four picks and potential upsets along the way. Is Gonzaga destined to run the whole thing undefeated or will they come away empty handed again. Prior to NCAA talk, the Bears made their first big move of free agency by inking Andy Dalton to a one-year deal. We breakdown the signing and our thoughts of it and what it means for this team not only this season but in the future. Could this signing be a blessing in disguise for other reasons people don't yet think about. Not only is the NCAA tournament beginning but the NBA has officially started their second half of the season with the Bulls bouncing back with two wins. As they not only continue to remain in the playoff hunt but move up in the standings Billy Donovan has elected to change the lineup up a little bit in hopes of more consistent play. What does this recent shakeup tell us about the direction of the team and is it the right move. We close out the program by diving into the Chicago Blackhawks and their recent struggles. As they continue to embark on this tough stretch, their grip on the final playoff spot is shrinking. With 10 games against the teams chasing them remaining on the schedule, how vital is it for the Blackhawks to not only get hot but to take care of business and put together a strong run of points.

Today on Chicago sports HQ chatter cole and I Open up the show by briefly discussing what we have noticed in the early portion of Spring training. What do both the cubs and white sox need to do before the season gets underway And what are the chances they actually when the central division. We then dive into hockey to discuss the recent player the Chicago Blackhawks and what lies ahead in the upcoming weeks. When you look at their upcoming schedule this is the time when the blackhawks will show us how good they really are. With March madness about 2 weeks away we break down the remainder of the college basketball season and talk about what chances everyone has to not only win the conference tournament but to make it to the NCAA tournament. Do the Chicago Bulls have enough to make the playoffs not only this season but long term with the roster they have in place or do they need to go out and find somebody on the trade market. We close out the show by discussing the Chicago Bears and how strange it has been the past couple weeks where they really haven't given fans a consensus as to what direction they want to take this franchise do they have a plan in place or they taking a day-by-day to see what they want to become

On this episode of Chicago sports HQ chatter Cole and I Kick things off with the Chicago Bulls and their massive improvement in overall play. What has the biggest difference Ben this season as opposed to last season and is it as easiest pointing to a new head coach as the difference. We then switch over to the NHL where the Chicago Blackhawks also have a young an impressive team that continues to win games. Much like the bulls The blackhawks have lived up to the hype and have even surprised many in the league this season as their influx of youth are not only carrying the team but are building for a bright future. We then move over to the NFL side of things where we discuss not necessarily the Chicago Bears but what's happening in the NFL landscape. What does the drama between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks mean not only for his future but the future of the NFL as it appears he wants out of seattle. With college basketball winding down in the coming weeks what have the recent losses to Illinois in Notre Dame done for their playoff hopes and what can we expect from them moving forward 's next week

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I have another jam packed show so let's get to it. First out of the gates is baseball talk as we breakdown the latest flurry of moves for the Cubs. What does that mean in terms of their competitive window this season and why the decision to add who they did. Are there any non-roster invitees who could make a difference not only on the Cubs, but on the Sox also. Second, we hit the grid iron and talk about what is going on with the Bears. With Carson Wentz wanting Indianapolis more than Chicago, what are the Bears plans for the QB position? Should Chicago try and lure JJ Watt to Chicago to join his wife in the windy city. FCS is in full swing with their spring schedule as both Illinois St and Southern Illinois take the field on Saturday. From the Gridiron to the Hardwood as we have a bunch of Hoops talk. Illinois and Loyola are poised for regular season conference titles with NCAA aspirations to follow while teams like Notre Dame still sit on the bubble. With De Paul and Northwestern continuing to flail, where do things go for them. The Bulls continue to work their magic on the court as they have climbed up to the Nine seed in the Eastern Conference despite injuries preventing them from going with different lineup everynight. From the hardwood to the ICE where the Blackhawks continue to surprise the NHL with an influx of young talent. How do so many overtime games help a young team and are the Blackhawks as good as their record shows.

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Cole and I have a busy show so lets just dive into things. We open the show discussing the Chicago Bears and their activeness in the quarterback market. Are the favorites to get to Carson Wentz or should they target other options at the QB position. Cole and I look back at the superbowl and just how impressive the Bucs were in their win. What ulitmately changed the game and what made the biggest difference. The NCAA season is in full swing and teams are starting to make a case as the best in the league. Both Loyola and Illinois are on the verge of bringing home conference titles while Northwestern and De Paul continue to struggle. What does the future hold for all four programs in terms of recruiting and getting back on top. The Bulls continue to battle through the regular season as they continue to battle through the injury bug. What does Chicago need to do to not only avoid the injuries, but to remain competitive in the Eastern COnference. The Blackhawks continue to impress and have turned into one of the hottest teams in the NHL. What has the difference been since the start of the season and what they have done now? Can they keep up this play and continue to surprise. Cole and I close out the show by talking baseball. Not just the Cubs and what there plans are for the next few weeks, but the NCAA also as College baseball returns next week. What do we expect to see from Illinois, Northwestern and Notre Dame this season and can they continue to build off their shortened seasons last year.

Today on Chicago sports HQ chatter, Cole and I dive into the Chicago Cubs recent moves and what it does to this team. Have they become a better team or was this a process of just plugging holes to get by. With the market slowing down, could Kolton Wong land right in the Cubs lap as the perfect hitter and defender for this team. With the Bears searching the quarterback market, Chicago has been linked to both Jameis Winston and Derek Carr among others. Would either of them fit well with this team or is Deshaun Watson still the focus for this team. If Chicago moves forward with Foles do you expect the team to draft a future quarterback and sit him for a season. BOth the Bulls and Blackhawks continue to be works in progress, but both have shown resilience of late to land close to the playoff picture. How do these teams stack up the rest of the season? Where does Jonathan Toews fit when he returns and has Lauri Markkanen done enough to earn a contract extension? We close out the show by discussion the college basketball landscape and the chances for Notre Dame to make the Big Dance. Is Illinois on the verge of making a run for the BIG title and the quietly impressive Loyola Ramblers continue to do their thing. We discuss the possibility of a MLS lockout and make our superbowl predictions

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I look back at Championship Sunday and discuss how things went in the post season. Was it a surprise to see Mahomes vs Brady in the big game or was this a long time coming. With both Deshaun Watson and Matthew Stafford on the trade block, what are the chances the Bears pursue either one of them and what would a trade look like should they go after them? Despite the bad news in Chicago regarding Wendell Carter JR, the Bulls continue to play inspired ball and remain right in the thick of the playoff chase. The bench has played a big reason for the teams success and that will continue as the season goes on. With the first win finally under their belt, the Chicago Blackhawks are going streaking and have no earned points in four-straight. What has been the biggest change in the early season turnaround? The Cubs haven't been too active in the free agent market, but with the middle infield market picking up could they be in on Kolton Wong. Should that happen, what does it mean for Nico Hoerner's immediate future at second base? Cole and I close out the show by touching on College basketball. With the NCAA having a tournament this season, what does it loook like? HOw many teams get in and how important are the next two weeks to impress the commitee.

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, we focus on more of the pro sports as things are really starting to pick up. With the NFL Conference championships now set, Cole and I look back at what happened last week and what we thought of the play. Who stands the best chance to make it to the superbowl and what a Patrick Mahomes less Chiefs team could look like. Don't look now, but MLB Free agency is happening at a frantic pace and is more exciting than in years past. As more and more former Cubs are picked up on cheap deals... what does that say about the Cubs and how they valued the players on their roster. The Chicago Bulls continue to impress especially on the offensive end to earn their best start in four years. They currently sit in the final playoff spot and are only going to get better. Cole and look at how much has changed in the Chicago basketball side of things this season and what is to come. Does this team resemble the 2009 squad that made life miserable for the Boston Celtics. There rosters are similar and they play a similar style of ball. With the NHL finally underway, the Blackhawks are four games in. Unfortunately, those four games have been a struggle as Chicago is missing lots of key pieces from last year's group. What needs to happen for the Blackhawks to right the ship and where does team go from here. To close out the show we look at the college basketball landscape and where De Paul, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Illinois fit right now. What are their chances to make the NCAA tourney and does the committee look at quality wins over the amount of wins this season.

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I look back at the National Championship game and give Notre Dame more credit than what they received. They managed to slow a historical offense to the point where it could be looked at as a bad game. With the Bears now out of the postseason, the offseason begins and both Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace return. We look back at Bears year as a whole and what the playoffs looked like last week going forward. With Chuck Pagano now out as DC, it is time to look for a new defensive coordinator so both of us discuss potential hires that could make a big difference.

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I get right into the College Football playoff and discuss the Notre Dame Showing against BAMA. Did they deserve to be in the playoff after what happened to them against Clemson. With an extra year of eligibility granted to their players, what are the chances Peyton Ramsey returns to Northwestern after the season his team put together. is Pat Fitzgerald Finally going to the NFL and what would that mean for the Wildcats program long term. Believe it or not, the Bears are in the playoffs, but how do they stack up against the Saints. Is New Orleans destined for Tampa giving Drew Brees the perfect swan song, or could Playoff Nick Foles come the rescue once again and pull off another promising upset. With Football winding down, basketball is picking up. Cole and I discuss the resent surge in play for the Bulls and what has been the key to their success over the past five games. How do things shape up for them the rest of the way especially when they get healthy. COllege basketball continues to go through some challenges, but how much more can teams take before enough is too much. Notre Dame adds a nice Grad transfer for next year while Northwestern is focused on getting back on the winning track. We close out the show by discussing the Cubs welcoming in Jon Sciambi and what fans can expect from him as the new voice of the Cubs. Could Contreras be next on the Cubs list of players to move and what does Jed Hoyer need to do to win fans trust. Cole and I also give our playoff picks for Super wildcard weekend this week.

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I wanted to thank the listeners for tuning in the past few months and want to wish all of you a safe and happy new year with hopes of a much better 2021. We kick off the show discussing the Chicago Cubs and what they are actually doing right now as a franchise. Looking back at the Darvish trade, does it make any sense and there is real possibility that this team is getting worse before they get better. The Bears continue their winning ways as they push for the post season, but things get tougher this weekend with Green Bay. Chicago needs to win to clinch as do the Packers for home field. Cole and I break down the matchup with Green Bay and look at how things could be different this time around. Has Trubisky done enough to earn at worst a one year deal beyond this season given his play? Sticking with football, we are on the verge of the College football playoffs and Northwestern and Notre Dame are set for their New Years Day bowls. What are the chances that each program walks away with a win? COllege basketball continues to take centerstage as the Northwestern Wildcats have been a big surprise this season. Can they keep it up and where do they stack up against Illinois and the rest of the BIG 10. Notre Dame is coming off a nice win and is looking for more consistency as a program. We discuss De Paul finally getting going as well as Chicago St deciding to cancel their season and what it could mean for their players. The Bulls greeted us with three straight losses to open the season, but bounced back with a nice win at Washington. Was that win a sign of things to come, and has Donovan found the right rotation to lead to more wins. We close up the show by briefly touching on the concerns around Blackhawks as their season is set to begin in two weeks as well as the MLS and the potential for a termination of the CBA.

Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I want to send everyone into the Holidays by wishing all of you listeners a safe and merry X Mas. On today's show, as much as we hate to admit it, the Bears have pulled us back in and are in a great position to make the post season. Has the recent play of Mitch Trubisky earned him another year under center or will the Bears still look at other options. Is Bill Lazor the biggest key to the improvement and where would this team be had Trubisky not gotten benched. Sticking with Football, we shift over to college and break down both the ACC and BIG Championship games. Was Notre Dame exposed for who they are or was it a classic case of Clemson getting healthy at the right time. What are their chances against Alabama. Northwestern nearly shocked OSU, but the Buckeyes did just enough to get by. Do they deserve a spot in the CFB, and what to expect for Northwestern against Auburn next week. Illinois has a new football coach in Bret Bielema, what do we expect from him after his rocky tenure with Arkansas With college basketball now in full swing, Northwestern is coming off an impressive win at MSU and has proven they could be a force in the BIG this year. Despite the struggles of late for Illinois, the Illini remain a quality team and shouldn't be taken lightly. Notre Dame is struggling to find themselves while De Paul gets their season underway. The NBA starts Tuesday night and the Bulls are in action Wednesday. Cole and I briefly discuss the Bulls preseason and what to look for ahead of this game. We close out the show by discussing the possibility of NBA expansion, the new NHL alignment for this season and how that could effect next year with Seattle coming into the league and what to make of the White Sox going after Josh Hader and now landing Yoelqui Cespedes. Could both Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy be safe one more season and what to make of this Nickelodeon post season broadcast and what it means for the future. With the college football season entering championship week, both Notre Dame and Northwestern are playing for bragging rights this week. What does a Notre Dame or Clemson loss mean for the CFP moving forward. Does Ohio St. even deserve this opportunity and how it effects what the Northwestern Wildcats have done this season. With Lovie Smith out at Illinois, Cole and I discuss who could be some possible candidates taking over. Could Jim Leonard, Bret Bielema or Lance Leipold be what the Fighting Illini are looking for. College basketball is in full swing as conference matchups begin this week. After an impressive win at Kentucky, what does Notre Dame have in store against both Duke and Purdue this week. Today on Chicago Sports HQ Chatter, Cole and I breakdown the Bears and how they found a new way to lose a football game. Was that loss the final nail in the coffin for Matt Nagy remaining head coach beyond this season. Should Nagy not return, who are some viable options as this years coaching market could really be interesting. With Carson Wentz being benched in favor of Jalen Hurts, would it be a wise investment for the Bears to make a run at Wentz this offseason and appoint him their franchise QB. With Basketball season now in full swing mode, we look at the BIG 10 and ACC basketball landscape and how things have shaken out so far. Should the NCAA really be playing basketball at this point with the rising COVID cases.
