Dan Wiederer is joined by a special fill-in host for this episode! Former Chicago Tribune reporter Rich Campbell tags in for David Haugh to discuss the latest Bears storylines. Campbell reflects on his experience covering the Bears through the Mitchell Trubisky era and when Robert Griffin III was in Washington to relate just how hard it is to both draft and develop a quarterback. The failures of Trubisky and RGIII are what the Bears are hoping to avoid by putting Caleb Williams onto a roster that appears close to being competitive. The guys also recall their time covering the Bears together during what turned out to be a disappointing 2019 season as an example of how wrong it can go if the team isn't prepared for the spotlight. Crowley has been told the Steelers had a similar offer for Kenny Pickett from the Saints. The Steelers gave Pickett his choice of where to go. Are the Steelers more to blame or Kenny for the failed tenure? Pickett was mishandled with how he originally was put in the game as a rookie, had Trubisky as the starting QB, brought Canada back at OC, and everything that came after that. Pickett also seemed immature about the Russell Wilson signing and the Seattle story wasn't good.
Hour 1 with Dorin Dickerson and Adam Crowley: Crowley has been told the Steelers had a similar offer for Kenny Pickett from the Saints. People are slamming Kenny Pickett for wanting a fresh start and wanting out of Pittsburgh with a 'transfer portal' mentality. You also had to move on from Pickett because Russell Wilson could have been feeling heat at some point with outside noise on Kenny. Could the Steelers use Justin Fields in a Taysom Hill situation? Dorin: No. Sort and simple. You don't want to or need to invite a special package to disrupt the offense with Wilson. Crowley wants to see it and know what you have with Fields.
Jonathan Peterlin & Dan Menningen (in for Baskin & Phelps) give their thoughts on recent football stories & news throughout during NFL Rapid Fire.

Nick and Daryl talk about other media/fans that have brought up Mitch Trubisky as a backup QB option for the Browns.
On his weekly Chipped Ham and Football podcast, Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko welcomes 93.7 The Fan's Jeff Hathhorn to analyze the team's early offseason cuts of QB Mitch Trubisky, OT Chuks Okorafor and P Pressley Harvin III. How does Trubisky's departure change the team's plan at the position, if at all? Will the Steelers get another tackle through the NFL draft or NFL free agency to create some depth with Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr.? And how will the team replace Harvin after three inconsistent years here?

Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith are back to discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. Jenna Harner of WPXI joins the show to discuss the Steelers wave of activity. Mitch Trubisky, Chuks Okorafor and Pressley Harvin III were all released from the organization on Monday, what was the reason for making these moves when the Steelers made them? Where did the Steelers go wrong in their evaluation of Mitch Trubisky and will it give them pause going forward in terms of their evaluation? Eddie Faulkner had his contract extended. Was the move deserved and is the team done adding to their coaching staff? Finally, we discuss Jenna's path to Pittsburgh and her experiences along the way. Mitch Trubisky is gone and we look back at all of his great moments in Pittsburgh. Was he ruined by coaches/situations? The Steelers poor draft picks for a couple of years are haunting the team now - Edmunds, Washington, Rudolph, Chuks, Bush, Lane etc. How much blame should Colbert receive? Continuing on the poor Steelers drafts. Calls about the Steelers QB options, blame on ownership in Pittsburgh

Hour 1 with Adam Crowley and Paul Zeise: The Steelers are reportedly going to go out and get a quarterback, which could be Justin Fields or Russell Wilson. Would Wilson on a minimum deal make sense for the Steelers? Denver will be paying him millions if he gets cut. Wilson would be a stopgap QB and how long would you have him? What would it cost to get Fields to the Steelers? He is younger than Kenny Pickett! Crowley thinks the Steelers are a QB away. We discuss options at backup. There's what people want to happen, then the realistic options. Justin Fields is far from a finished product. He's a good talent but needs work. Kirk Cousins? We don't think he'd be much of an option. The Steelers cut Mitch Trubisky Monday after two seasons with the team. Trubisky was a former 2nd overall pick and people thought he maybe could do something for the team. He sat behind Josh Allen and guided the Bears to the playoffs before being a Steeler. Mark Kaboly thinks it's one of the worst free agency signings in team history! The Super Bowl ratings were the best of all time for Super Bowl 58. Was this the Taylor Swift effect? The game was great in the 4th and OT. There are more ways to watch than ever before.

Hour 2: We took a few more calls on the idea of Justin Fields being the Steelers QB. Poni said people will be shocked by how little the cost will be for Fields. If this all happens and he has a solid year with the Steelers, what would they be willing to pay Fields before he enters the open market? Chris said the encouraging sign with Fields, along with his legs, is the production we saw from DJ Moore last season in Chicago. It sounds like our friends in Cleveland actually want the Browns to sign Mitch Trubisky in the off-season. Would you welcome that as a Steelers fan? WWPMD.

Hour 4: BREAKING NEWS: The Steelers and Mitch Trubisky have mutually agreed to part ways to end an absolutely disastrous run in Pittsburgh. There are also reports that Mason Rudolph will seek a “fresh start” elsewhere next season. What kind of sales pitch do the Steelers need to have to bring him back? It doesn't sound like Rudolph is buying the Steelers BS this time around. It also looks like the Steelers will explore adding Ryan Tannehill. Does that do anything for this QB room? Do the Steelers realize where they are as an organization? The QB moves the Steelers have mad since the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger have been not good to say the least. What do callers make of where the Steelers stand at QB? The Steelers made two more cuts during the segment. We reacted to the Steelers releasing Mitch Trubisky, Pressley Harvin and Chuks Okorafor. Is this a nice step for the Steelers going forward? Who else could be next?
Hour 3 with Ron Cook and Joe Starkey: Falcons reporter Mike Rothstein of ESPN joined the show. What are the Steelers getting in Arthur Smith? Mike thinks it's overblown that Smith didn't use their playmakers the right way. The Falcons were fined with some injury report questions with Bijan Robinson, but he did lead the team in touches. Smith made Ryan Tannehill a good quarterback in Tennessee. Marcus Mariota had accuracy issues in Atlanta. If Desmond Ridder cut down on turnovers, the narrative would be different on his play as a QB. After Kenny Pickett, there was no one you felt good about in the 2022 draft. The Falcons never said Ridder was the franchise guy. If the Falcons had average QB play, they probably make the playoffs and Smith stays. Smith can't control bad turnovers. Mark Kaboly thinks Mitch Trubisky will be back next season. WHAT?! We don't think there's any chance. We hear Kaboly's answers to word association from Wednesday's show. Chris Oladokun is once again going to the Super Bowl with the Chiefs. The quarterback market in free agency is thin.
Ravens defensive coordinator Mike McDonald is the next head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Dan Quinn in Dallas used to be their defensive coordinator during the Legion of Boom, but does not get the head coaching job. Free association questions with the Steelers roster. Mark Kaboly said he thinks Mitch Trubisky will be the second quarterback next season. Bob, Joe, and Ron all don't think there's much of a chance Trubisky is back and think it will be Rudolph.
Hour 4 with Ron Cook, Joe Starkey, and Bob Pompeani: Ravens defensive coordinator Mike McDonald is the next head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Mark Kaboly said he thinks Mitch Trubisky will be the second quarterback next season. Bob, Joe, and Ron all don't think there's much of a chance Trubisky is back and think it will be Rudolph. The Pirates officially announced the Aroldis Chapman signing. Pitt basketball against Wake Forest tonight.
The future of some Steelers contracts. Mitch Trubisky is signed for the next two years. It's probably the last time we've seen Trubisky. Ron would bet Kenny Pickett will be the starter. Joe agrees, but neither feel good about it. Ron thinks they will try to bring Mason Rudolph back. Unless someone gives him a lot of money and even a starting spot he will probably be back. We think Najee Harris will be given his 5th year option. Jaylen Warren will be back, maybe on a new deal. Calvin Austin has been disappointing. What will happen with Cam Heyward?

December 20, 2023 - Season 14, Episode 65 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Tuesday injury report released by the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the team's Saturday Week 16 home game against the Cincinnati Bengals. We also go over the recent transactions the Steelers have made and how Friday could be an interesting day when it comes to roster moves. Steelers WR George Pickens is back in the main news cycle again thanks to comments that he made on Tuesday during his media session. We go over what all Pickens said on Tuesday, the expected fallout from what he said, and what the immediate and long-term future might be for him. Alex and talk quite a bit about culture as it relates to the Steelers in this podcast coming out of what all has happened with Pickens this past week. We also move on to talk a bit about Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky and his contract status. We also talk about other alternatives the team might have when it comes to cutting him during the offseason related to after paying him his $1 million roster bonus that is due. We also discuss if the Steelers will have two quarterbacks under contract come the time the 2024 NFL Draft arrives. Later in this show, Alex and I recap some final thoughts from the Steelers Week 15 road loss to the Indianapolis Colts after fully devouring the all-22 tape from that contest. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 85-minute episode as well, and we finish it up by answering several listener questions. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. "Bleav in Steelers" hosts Ike Taylor and Mark Bergin discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers' struggling offense as the team faces the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday. Mason Rudolph is expected to start for the Steelers if Kenny Pickett can't play due to an ankle injury. Rudolph will replace Mitch Trubisky. The Steelers are on a three-game losing streak and will need help to make the playoffs. The Steelers have failed to score at least 19 points in the past five games. It's the longest such streak since they went six games in a row in 1969 without scoring at least 19 points. That was Chuck Noll's first season. Ike and Mark discuss how both Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Ja'Marr Chase (shoulder) will miss Saturday's game. The NFL also suspended Steelers safety Damontae Kazee without pay for the remainder of the 2023 season. Kazee will appeal his suspension. Last, the guys discuss George Pickens' lack of effort in two plays against the Indianapolis Colts: One play was when he didn't block his man on a Jaylen Warren run. The other was when Trubisky threw an interception and he didn't chase after the defender. Ike explains why he thinks Pickens needs to emerge as a leader in the Steelers locker room. The Steelers trip to Indianapolis proved to be more of the same as the Colts trounced the Steelers 30 to 13. Join us as we discuss the loss, preview the upcoming game against the divisional rival Cincinnati Bengals, and pick some other games as the playoff picture appears to become more clear. From everyone here on the podcast, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
Jon & Brad discuss the biggest failures of the team in their embarrassing 30-13 loss to the Colts, including Mitch Trubisky's benching and the offensive line's miserable showing. Did anyone stand out on defense? Minkah's unlucky season continues, while TJ Watt's awesome performance will go overlooked. Pittsburgh's secondary struggled, but the linebacker play was even worse. Why did the offensive line struggle so much? Is this the worst Trubisky has played in his career? Why was the Damontae Kazee ejection/suspension so unjust, and why is the league's corruption a real concern for the coming seasons? Learn more about your ad choices. "Bleav in Steelers" host Mark Bergin shares his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers' 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Quarterback Mitch Trubisky got benched late in the fourth quarter for Mason Rudolph. The Steelers will need to determine whether to start Rudolph in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals if Kenny Pickett is still out with an ankle injury. Najee Harris was also held to 33 yards rushing against the Colts. Bergin believes the Steelers need to bring in a new offensive coordinator from outside the organization in 2024. He also thinks the Steelers should exercise Trubisky's out, and draft and develop a rookie quarterback with a mid- to late-round draft pick. The Steelers fell to 11th place in the AFC after the loss. December 13, 2023 - Season 14, Episode 62 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they enter the middle of Week 15 and their upcoming Saturday road game against the Indianapolis Colts. We go over the Steelers Week 15 injury report heading into Wednesday with that focus being mainly on outside linebackers T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, who are both still in concussion protocol. Steelers quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph both talked to the media on Tuesday, so we go over the few talking points to come out of those sessions. Premier NFL insiders Jay Glazer and Peter King both recently had some thoughts concerning Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and the team's future at the quarterback position that Alex and I both discuss. We talk about the possibility of the Steelers signing Tomlin to a contract extension after the 2023 season and when such an event might happen if it happens at all. The Steelers usage of play action hasn't been very effective so far this season, so Alex and I discuss that topic for a bit in this show as well. We talk a little bit about the role that Steelers team president Art Rooney II has in the future of the organization. We also discuss a comment he made about Tomlin this past January and parse that completely. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 73-minute episode as well, and we finish it up by answering several listener questions. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. December 8, 2023 - Season 14, Episode 60 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the disgusting Thursday night loss the Pittsburgh Steelers had to the New England Patriots. We jump right into our talk by going over key plays in the game on both sides of the football, the play of QB Mitch Trubisky and much more. We talk about how the Steelers still managed to be the game at the two-minute warning and how those final two plays of the drive were pretty much unforgivable. Should Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin have benched Trubisky in favor of backup Mason Rudolph? We discuss that question and also talk about who should start at quarterback in Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Steelers have a new dubious stat attached to them after losing to the 2-10 Patriots and we go over that. We also discuss the very strong comments made by S Minkah Fitzpatrick after the Thursday night game. We discuss the pregame inactive list and the in-game injuries that happened and then dive deeper into the Thursday night game in all three phases. Alex and I then make sure to address the state of the Steelers organization with four games remaining and then talk about the future of Tomlin in Pittsburgh. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 86-minute episode as well, and we finish it up by answering several listener questions. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. "Bleav in Steelers" host Mark Bergin shares his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers' 21-18 loss to the New England Patriots. Mitch Trubisky couldn't connect with Diontae Johnson on a fourth-down conversion late in the fourth quarter. The Steelers ran out of time in trying to mount their comeback. Bergin explains what he's seen from Trubisky, who consistently throws short of the first down. He also explains how he'd give Trubisky one more start. If Trubisky struggles, perhaps the Steelers would turn to Mason Rudolph with Kenny Pickett injured. The referees blew a call on fourth down where it appeared a Patriots defender jumped offsides, but the Steelers were called for a false start. Bergin explains that he thinks Bill Belichick outcoached Mike Tomlin. The Chicago Audible - Chicago Bears Podcast and Postgame Show
In the world of the Chicago Bears time is a flat circle. Especially when it comes to quarterback controversies. From "Rex is our quarterback"or Kyle Orton, to McCown vs Cutler to Foles vs Trubisky and now Justin Fields vs Tyson Bagent. Fans always seem to be split on the quarteback they'd prefer and the backup quarteback has jokingly always been the most popular guy in town. So where do we stand after Tyson Bagent went out in his first career start and brought back the first win at Soldier Field in 392 days for the Bears? When should we expect Justin Fields to return? And is there any scenario where they dont go back to Fields if Bagent continues to win games? Greg Braggs Jr will be joined by Shayne Marsaw from the Tape Never Lies Network to talk about that and more on CHGO Bears After Dark! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
