There's famine in the Animal kingdom and a forthcoming party in the sky but only the birds can go because they are the only ones that can fly. Tortoise wants to attend but he can't fly. Tortoise betrays the birds that showed him kindness.
Wole Soyinka was born on 13 July 1934 at Abeokuta, in western Nigeria. His father was a priest in the Anglican Church and principal of a school. His mother owned a store and was active within the women's liberation movement. His family belongs to the Yoruba people, whose culture has influenced Soyinka's works. Soyinka has six children. He had his university studies at Government College in Ibadan, then he continued at the University of Leeds, where he obtained his doctorate. During the six years spent in England, he was a dramaturgist at the Royal Court Theatre in London. In 1960, he was awarded a Rockefeller bursary and returned to Nigeria to study African drama. He taught drama and literature at various universities in Ibadan, Lagos, and Ife. Wole Soyinka is best known as a playwright. His works also include poetry, novels, and essays. Soyinka writes in English, but his works are rooted in his native Nigeria and the Yoruba culture, with its legends, tales, and traditions. In 1960, he founded the theatre group, “The 1960 Masks” and in 1964, the “Orisun Theatre Company”, in which he has produced his own plays and taken part as an actor. During the civil war in Nigeria, Soyinka appealed in an article for cease-fire. For this he was arrested and accused of conspiring against government. Soyinka has published about 20 works: drama, novels and poetry. He wrote his first plays during his time in London, The Swamp Dwellers and The Lion and the Jewel (a light comedy), Later, he wroteThe Trial of Brother Jero, A Dance of the Forests, Kongi's Harvest. Soyinka's poems include Poems from Prison (1969), A Shuttle in the Crypt (1972) the long poem Ogun Abibiman (1976) and Mandela's Earth and Other Poems (1988).
Chinua Achebe, popularly known as the father of African literature hails from Ogidi in Anambra State Nigeria, He was born on November 16 1930 to the family of Mr and Mrs Isaiah & Janet Achebe. Chinua Achebe married Christie and they had four children. He studied at University college of Ibadan now known as University of Ibadan where he studied English and literature. He taught for a while before joining the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation in Lagos and served as director of external broadcasting. Chinua Achebe wrote his first book in 1958 at the age of 28. The title of the book is "THINGS FALL APART ". Things Fall Apart remains the most widely read book in Africa. Some of his other books are *Arrow of God *A man of the people *No longer at ease *Chike and the river. In 1990 when he had an accident in Nigeria which left him partially paralysed, he moved to USA. Chinua Achebe died in March 21 2013 at the age of 83 years. Chinua Achebe's legacy is celebrated annually every November 16th at Awka Anambra State.

Money is gotten from the value we provide through services or products. Children can learn the importance of curbing impulse purchases, and instead start a savings collection. Children can get jobs and earn money by interning or working during the holidays. I encourage kids to open bank accounts and also give to charity. Children can also begin to invest.

Leadership is inspiration, influence and service. Leadership is earned by actions of courage, fairness and commitment. Leadership is not position, it is not royalty, and leadership is not just about being the head.
Learning to make choices is very important. Everyone makes choices every day about what what to eat, what to wear, what to do or where to go. The choices that you make can be good or bad. Bad choices cause us to be unhappy, confused or in despair. Choose to love yourself, choose the right friends, choose to read and be a life-long learner.
A Leader has to communicate the vision and goals to his team so as to motivate them to achieve the vision. Qualities of effective communication include; Clarify, Transparency, Listening, Feedback and Inspiration.
Vision is a mental image or picture, future, a direction or a goal. Vision provides guidance to the wishes you want to attain. It points you to the way of what you want to attain. Vision inspires, motivates and guides your behaviour for a preferable future.
Personal Development is a lifelong process of assessing your skills and qualities, considering your aims in life and setting goals that will help you maximise your potentials.
Every child can be a great leader and it begins at home.
Self-control is the ability to slow down and think through one's emotions, thoughts, actions and behaviour in the face of temptations and impulses. To exercise self-control, you need to walk away from trouble makers, control negative impulses, manage your anger and avoid shouting, biting and hitting other. The more you exercise self-control, the better a leader you will become.
Building a good character is a foundational requirement for success.
Teaching children to have good morals and values are very important jobs of parents and teachers. This character building series will address issues of empathy, respect, fairness and more.
