Like building wealth, creating a top-tier relationship requires patience, discipline, and the willingness to iterate on failure. Mitchell Jacobs has worked cargo theft at Walmart, security at Halliburton and United Airlines, and now runs safety and security for Lennox. He sat down with TalkLPnews Editor-in-Chief, Amber Bradley, to talk about the thing that actually keeps him up at night: a whole trailer can vanish off your dock and you won't know for hours. His fix starts with something most leaders skip, which is standing still on the floor long enough to watch two associates try to check in 30 trucks an hour while you ask them to be perfect. He also has a warning. Criminals are already using AI to mine broker boards and build fake bills of lading, and LP is too slow to catch up. Plus the leadership lesson he got from a YMCA boardroom in the 1980s, and why a closed case stopped feeling like a win.

Beloved Vermont children's entertainer-turned-filmmaker Mac Parker has been raising funds for his film Birth of Innocence for nearly a decade. The film has yet to be completed, and what investors were promised — a three-year, $1 million project — has ballooned in both time and cost. When the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation steps in to investigate irregularities in Mac's fundraising practices, they discover he's operating a $28 million Ponzi scheme. They dig deeper and find Mac has a silent partner named Lou Soteriou, a chiropractor in Connecticut who is being purposefully hidden from investors. Over the years, Lou has received more than $4 million in payments from Mac. Realizing the scope of the case, Vermont investigators call in the FBI. As federal agents unravel this enormous Ponzi scheme, it becomes clear that the relationship between Mac and Lou is a complicated one. The investigators are left wondering, who really is the mastermind behind this crime?

On this episode of the Jered Williams Show, Jered and co-host Eddie break down everything needed to launch and scale a plumbing business in 2026, covering memorable branding, simple margin-based pricing, aggressive lead generation through paid ads and organic content, disciplined phone answering and scheduling, in-home sales that present multiple options, and hiring people who fit documented systems. They stress sacrificing lifestyle, reinvesting profits, and holding teams accountable to avoid chaos while using AI tools to speed up marketing and website setup. The core message is that success comes from consistent execution, the right mindset, and treating early years as an investment in long-term freedom rather than instant gratification.
Most restoration owners have a crazy story about how they got into the business, but very few have survived a first job so brutal it almost drove them out of the industry forever. In this episode of Restoration Pros Unplugged, host Clinton James sits down with Andrew Rickabaugh, co-owner of Rick and Ball Restoration and a One Tom Plumber franchise in Huntsville, Alabama. Andrew pulls back the curtain on his non-linear path to entrepreneurship, spanning roles as a paramedic, firefighter, Huntsville police officer, and a 20-year career in the Marine Corps. The real turning point, however, came at age 24 when he was hired into a restoration firm as an area manager, only to find himself leading an operational disaster. Handed a mountain of derailed reconstruction files, Andrew spent his days visiting furious homeowners and eating crow for mistakes made by completely unmanaged crews. The experience was so exhausting that he quit after 364 days, vowing never to set foot in the restoration industry again. The story didn't end there. Years later, a call from his brother-in-law and business partner, Kevin Ball, convinced him to return on his own terms to launch an independent company. Andrew breaks down how they put their heads down and did the dirty grunt work themselves, organically climbing the organic rankings to become the highest-rated restoration firm in a hyper-competitive market. He details their strategic expansion into the commercial market, explaining what it takes to find and manage a high-performing business development rep who isn't afraid to pick up the phone and build long-term relationships with property managers. To eliminate the expensive, margin-choking bidding wars over third-party plumbing referrals, Andrew and Kevin made the bold choice to buy a One Tom Plumber franchise. Now managing a team in the mid-30s with a fleet of 15 service vehicles, Andrew shares raw insight into how they handle modern operational constraints. He explains how they utilize AI tools to audit scopes and counter insurance adjusters using strict IICRC guidelines, and why they are aggressively pivoting toward a customer financing model to bypass carrier delays and compress their average 30-day reconstruction start times.Whether you are a military veteran looking to make the leap into home services or an established restorer feeling trapped as the bottleneck in your own business, Andrew's perspective on efficiency, tech integration, and self-reliance will reframe your growth strategy. He leaves listeners with a powerful reminder on the true value of entrepreneurship: if you don't own your business, you can't control your future.- Connect with Our GuestLearn more about Andrew and his team: www.rickandball.com- Scale Your Restoration BusinessWant to generate exclusive, high-intent water damage jobs and build an inbound marketing system you actually own? Robert Dow buys and sells raw land across Texas and Oklahoma — mostly sight unseen, almost entirely through direct mail. It's a lean operation built on a simple idea: take infrastructure you already have and point it at a new market. In this conversation, we get into his direct mail philosophy (why novelty beats clever copywriting, why your letter should be about the reader and not you), how he thinks about capital structure and tax efficiency, and his take on AI — that it's a powerful tool but not a durable moat. The edge still comes from domain expertise and knowing immediately which option is worth keeping. We also get into personal finance: a self-directed Roth IRA structure that's quietly been one of his best investments, and why most founders shouldn't be doing private deals. Send us Fan MailMore information does not produce better decisions. This episode of Thinking 2 Think makes the case that data overload -- not data scarcity -- is the real leadership crisis of 2026. Executive Director and author M.A. Aponte draws on his experience in charter school leadership, Wall Street, and law enforcement to break down exactly how cognitive bias corrupts data interpretation and what the most effective leaders do differently when the signals are unclear. What You Will Learn:• The critical difference between signal vs. noise in organizational data• Why confirmation bias, availability bias, anchoring bias, and overconfidence are the four most dangerous cognitive biases in leadership decision making• What Bayesian thinking actually means for leaders -- without the statistics• How to apply the Three-Gate Signal Filter before drawing any conclusion from ambiguous data• A real case study of an organization that confused noise for signal -- and built a strategic plan around the wrong conclusion Q&A: What This Episode AnswersQ: What is the difference between signal and noise in leadership data?A: Signal is data that meaningfully changes a decision. Noise is everything else. The same data point can be signal through one lens and noise through another -- depending entirely on the decision you are trying to make. Most leaders skip defining the decision first. That is how they end up treating noise like signal. Q: How do cognitive biases affect leadership decisions?A: Four biases are most damaging: Confirmation bias leads you to favor data that confirms what you already believe. Availability bias overweights recent, vivid events over slow-building trends. Anchoring bias locks you to the first number you see. Overconfidence bias makes leaders express ninety percent certainty on sixty-five percent evidence. Each of these is documented, measurable, and correctable -- but only if you know which one is running. Q: What is Bayesian thinking for leaders?A: Bayesian thinking means your confidence in any conclusion should be proportional to the quality and quantity of your evidence -- and should update continuously as new evidence arrives. In practice, it means defining in advance what would cause you to change your mind. That single discipline protects against confirmation bias after the fact. The Three-Gate Signal Filter (from this episode):• Gate One: What specific decision does this data inform?• Gate Two: What is the base rate -- what would I expect without any intervention?• Gate Three: What evidence would cause me to revise this conclusion? In this solo episode of Case Studies, Casey explores one of the most influential principles of his life: keeping learning ahead of earning. Drawing from more than two decades of intentional self-education and over a million dollars invested in personal development, he shares why the greatest asset anyone can build is their own ability to create value. Casey reflects on the mentors, books, seminars, and experiences that shaped his career, from early lessons in sales and leadership to executive education at Harvard Business School and transformational experiences with Tony Robbins. Along the way, he unpacks the concept of human life value, the power of Kaizen and continuous improvement, and why the habit of learning matters far more than any individual investment.Casey challenges listeners to think differently about personal growth and success. He makes the case that the highest-return investment is rarely a stock, a business, or a market opportunity; it's the commitment to continuously develop new skills, expand knowledge, and increase your ability to create value. For entrepreneurs, leaders, and high performers, this episode offers a practical framework for building a life of momentum, opportunity, and long-term fulfillment through intentional learning. What if the secret to winning in CPG wasn't chasing the next trend – but staying focused on simple ingredients, a clear brand promise, and flawless execution? In this episode, Jeff Richards, founder and CEO of plant-based milk brand Mooala, explains how a commitment to organic sourcing, clear positioning, and a disciplined retail strategy helped transform a scrappy startup into one of the category's fastest-growing companies – even as the plant-based industry around it raced to reinvent itself. Show notes: 0:20: Jeff Richards, Founder & CEO, Mooala – Jeff reflects on his participation in BevNET Live's New Beverage Showdown in 2017 and discusses leaving investment banking to pursue an opportunity he saw in almond milk. He talks about Mooala's distinctive organic almond and banana milks and explains how the brand differentiated itself through organic certification, ingredient transparency, and flavor-forward formulations. He opens up about the challenges of educating consumers, refining Mooala's packaging, and adapting its messaging as shopper priorities evolved. He also details the realities of scaling a refrigerated beverage brand, from securing early wins with retailers such as Whole Foods, Costco, H-E-B, and Wegmans to navigating distribution, pricing, and marketing constraints with limited resources. Jeff shares lessons from fundraising, including the risks of raising capital before establishing product-market fit, and reflects on the rise and subsequent correction of the plant-based category. Looking back, he emphasizes the importance of incremental improvement, disciplined innovation, and patience, noting that Mooala's recent success stems from the alignment of strong products, clear brand messaging, organic positioning, and growing consumer demand. Most nonprofits are sitting on more donor potential than they realize. In this second part of my live CourageLab coaching session, I walk through some of the fundraising principles that separate organizations stuck at one level from those that break through to the next. If you're raising $1 million and trying to get to $3 million, these are the kinds of mindset shifts and fundraising behaviors that matter. We talk about donor communication, confidence, wealth conversations, and why asking for bigger gifts gives you the best donor data you'll ever get. None of this is complicated. But it does require courage, consistency, and a willingness to stop making assumptions about your donors. The organizations raising transformational gifts are not waiting for perfect conditions. They're staying in touch, telling the truth, having wealth conversations, and asking boldly. That's what this episode is about. What you'll learn in this episode• Why staying in touch with donors is not optional and is actually ethical fundraising• How consistent donor communication builds trust long before a larger gift arrives• Why confidence transfers to donors and apologetic energy does too• How bold leaders naturally attract bold philanthropists• What wealth events are and why they happen every single day regardless of the economy• How conversations about stock gifts, donor advised funds, and assets can unlock gifts far larger than cash donations• Why asking for a major gift reveals more useful information than any wealth screening tool ever will• The questions that help you understand a donor's true giving capacity and timeline• How to stop making assumptions about donor loyalty, priorities, and long-term commitment• Why better donor conversations lead to more accurate fundraising projections and stronger planningThe best way to find out what a donor is capable of is not another report, dashboard, or wealth screen. It's a conversation. Stay in touch, tell the truth, ask boldly, and let donors show you who they are. Most of the certainty you're looking for is sitting on the other side of a bigger ask.Want 15 leads in 5 minutes? Why your email list is the one asset your business actually owns, and why that changes everything. The three simple steps to start building your list today. How to create a freebie that gets people excited to hand over their email address. Why I ran ads before I even had anything to sell — and started with just $5 a day. How to use organic content to weave your freebie across the internet without feeling pushy or repetitive. The Facebook Ad Library hack for finding exactly what's working for others in your space. Why your organic subscribers are often your warmest leads, and how to keep growing both. I also share the things I wish someone had told me sooner. It took me two years to create my first freebie. Two years. And one simple PDF later, 6,000 people subscribed to it. You don't need a complicated funnel. You don't need a huge budget. You just need to get started, because once you know how to get your first subscriber, you'll figure out how to get your first thousand. And one day you'll look back at a list of tens of thousands of people and wonder why you ever waited. Your email list might just be the best business decision you ever make. Carrie xx

Sermon Title: The Million Dollar Question Sermon Series: God Over Money Passage: Matthew 6:19-24 Speaker: Sam Cassese Date: May 24, 2026 What if the biggest danger to your soul isn't obvious greed, but a quiet attachment to things that won't last? We all know money can make life more comfortable. But what if money has quietly become the thing we're living for? Most of us spend our lives chasing security, comfort, and “just a little more,” assuming that's normal. But Jesus asks a piercing question: What are you actually investing your life in? In this sermon, we begin a new series called God Over Money by wrestling with a Million Dollar Question that cuts beneath the surface of our bank accounts and straight into the direction of our lives: What treasure are you really chasing? This week's Money Diary feels a little bit like proof that where you start doesn't have to determine where you end up. She grew up in a tiny village in Eastern Europe in the aftermath of communism, where family holidays weren't a thing, money was scarce, and the future often looked a lot like the past. But even as a kid, she couldn't stop wondering what was on the other side of the horizon. At 16, she won a scholarship that changed everything. A few years later, she arrived in Australia with just $20 to her name, planning to stay for 12 months before heading back to university in the UK. Instead, she met the man who would become her husband after he quite literally washed up next to her on a beach. Eighteen years later, they're raising two children on the Gold Coast, have turned a modest beach shack into a property worth around $1.7 million, and she's built a dog-sitting side hustle that's on track to bring in $40,000 this year alongside her part-time career. But what I loved most about this conversation wasn't the property story or even the side hustle. It was the way she thinks about money. From collecting bottles to teach her kids about saving, to creating flexibility around family life, to constantly finding creative ways to make money work harder, she's built a life that looks completely different to the one she grew up expecting. Malcom "Mac" Parker aspires to be a filmmaker. In Vermont, Mac is known as a beloved children's entertainer, appearing on public television and performing around the state. Mac is so well respected in his community that when he begins to raise funds for his film Birth of Innocence, investors are quick to jump on board. His promises of high returns and a chance to be a part of the film industry sweeten the deal. Mac claims that he will need approximately $1 million and three years to complete his film. But after nearly a decade passes, the film is still unfinished, and Mac raises well above his $1 million goal. Investors grow weary, and when investigators step in to sort out the mess, they discover that Mac is embroiled in a $28 million Ponzi scheme.

What if you could build, scale, and sell a business for life-changing money - and then help other founders do the same? Join Nick Lamagna on The A Game Podcast: Real Estate Investing For Entrepreneurs for one of the most entertaining and educational conversations we've had in a long time - Shamus McNutt, engineer turned entrepreneur, exit strategist, and founder of Volare AI, an advisory firm helping business owners scale smarter, grow profits, and exit for maximum value. This isn't just another founder story - it's a masterclass on what it really takes to build something from $800 and sell it for 10 figures, and what most entrepreneurs get completely wrong when it's time to walk away from the table. Whether you're just starting out, deep in the grind, or already thinking about your exit, the insights in this episode will change the way you look at building and selling a business forever. Shamus went from mechanical engineering grad at the Colorado School of Mines to co-founding Belong Designs and FlowState Branding, scaling to $5M in annual revenue fully bootstrapped, nearly losing it all, pivoting through COVID to their first 7-figure month, and ultimately selling for a life-changing exit. Now he's dedicated to making sure other founders don't have to go through that process alone. While most founders are building without an exit plan, Shamus breaks down the real game: ✅ Why most entrepreneurs don't even know they can sell their business - and how to start thinking like a buyer right now ✅ How to avoid the sharks in the M&A world and protect yourself from predatory buyers ✅ Why you need to prepare your business for an exit 2-3 years BEFORE you go to market ✅ What really happens emotionally the day the money hits your account - and why the Ferrari won't fix it ✅ How to build a business with your best friends, have the tough conversations, and still keep the friendship + more Connect with Shamus: Shamus McNutt on Instagram Shamus McNutt on LinkedIn Connect with Volare AI: volare.ai Volare AI on LinkedIn --- Connect with Nick Lamagna www.nicknicknick.com Text Nick (516)540-5733 Connect on ALL Social Media and Podcast Platforms Here FREE Checklist on how to bring more value to your buyers
