Ron Moore and Danielle Hu offer practical advice and support to the wider SWIS Community who are currently dealing with an unprecedented and very challenging situation in China at present due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus. Don't suffer in silence - reach out to other people in the community and share your concerns and worries. There is a lot of support available at present from all members of SWIS. You can contact Ron (ron.moore@swis.cn) or (Danielle danielle.hu@swis.cn) directly Dr.Emanuele Gatti, Counseling Psychologist and Mindfulness Instructor is offering Free Online Mindfulness Sessions each day on the Zhumu Platform at 16.30 and he has a Corona Virus support group each day at 15.00 as well using the same platform. I recorded a number of podcasts with Dr.Gatti earlier this week on the SDG Agency SZ Podcast where he offered excellent advice. All of the staff at SWIS are currently working very hard to adapt to this situation and deliver high quality online education to your children at present; there will be bumps in the road along the way but there is no point in getting angry and being critical - we are all in this together and the top priority of SWIS is to ensure the safety of everyone including students, parents, staff and the wider community while at the same time delivering quality education in a tough situation. Ms Ally Wu and Mr.Gong are working tirelessly at present to ensure that the SWIS meets this challenges in a positive and proactive way. The 90-Day Gratitude Journal is your personal tool for injecting a dose of positivity into your day. This could be something useful to download and start during this time. I highly recommend the HeadSpace App for Mindfulness/Meditation; use this time to build up a health meditation practice alongside your child and ease stress/anxiety at the same time. The Calm App is also a good choice for meditation as well. You can follow my SWIS Digital Platforms Blog here where I offer practical advice and support; it is password protected and only for members of the SWIS Community - contact me for further information (eugene.leonard@swis.cn) With Mr.TherPod, You're Not Alone. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sdgagencysz/message
#MrTherPod #CreativesCare4China #ShenzhenStreetSpirit #CoronaVirus Today, Dr.Emanuele Gatti, Counseling Psychologist and Mindfulness instructor based in Shenzhen, China, joined Mr.TherPod on SDG Agency SZ. Emanuele gave us an update on the situation in Shenzhen at present; a far more positive and upbeat update than you’ll probably read or hear anywhere else at this time. He made an impassioned plea to people throughout the world to help raise the spirits of the people in China through any means possible, be it, song, dance, poetry, art or design. (He didn't mention podcasting.....I'll forgive him this time....) Dr.Emanuele stressed the value of 'Strength through Unity' saying; “Instead of only consuming the terrible gloomy records with the number of deaths due to the virus….instead let’s create positive content for other people to see that they are not alone in this situation and to help them go on…..everyone can make a small but significant contribution” His advice to the rest of the world is: “If you can sing, sing.... if you can paint, paint......Whatever you can do, do it, and record it and share it with the people of China, to let the people know they are not alone, and that you are thinking of them". This is a real call to action by Dr.Emanuele Gatti....who also said; "Instead of being sad, or bored or concerned at home, do something creative and share it out. Let the people know, you are with them. We are all on the same boat. Reduce your tension by giving to somebody else". So people of the world - let's listen to Dr.Emanuele and let's get creative during this time and share your work with the people of China through any means possible be it Twitter, YouTube, FaceBook, YouKu.....Pigeons.....and be sure to use the #CreativesCare4China #ShenzhenStreetSpirit #MrTherPodsCommunity #MrTherPod #mentalhealthawareness With Mr.TherPod, You're Not Alone https://www.facebook.com/mrtherpod https://twitter.com/MrTherPod https://anchor.fm/sdgagencysz https://anchor.fm/prsradio/episodes/The-Vadas-Experience-e5nemv #MrTherPodsCommunity #MindfulConnections #DrEGatti #CoronaVirus #SDGagencySZ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sdgagencysz/message
Dr.Emanuele talks about how to deal with the anxiety and stress that you may be feeling because of the outbreak of the Corona Virus in China. We also talk brieflyabout Mindfulness and Self Awareness and the online sessions that Dr.Emanuele is organizing for free every afternoon this week at 16.30 using the Zhumu Platform (great recommendation Kori!). Join Dr.Emanuele's Mindful Connections WeChat Group for more details (add me on WeChat and I'll add you - my WeChat ID is eugenius101 ) I recommend you go back and listen to the first episode on SDG Agency SZ with Dr.Emanuele as we got a chance to speak in much more detail and today's episode was conducted over the phone and was beset with technical issues making it difficult. At the end of the show, I provide information about the Mr.TherPod Concept and upcoming events. Dr.Emanuele Gatti, Counseling Psychologist and Mindfulness Instructor, in Shenzhen, has been helping people improve their emotional and relational skills for almost 20 years. I have been following Emanuele’s WeChat Group entitled ‘Mindful Connections closely & one thing I am very impressed with the presence he is establishing in the community and the regular events he is organizing as well as his plans for the future. In the podcast, Dr.Emanuele talks about his youth growing up in Italy, his values, beliefs, his short term and long term goals in the community and much much more. Mental illness continues to have a great deal of stigma associated with it despite advances in psychiatry and too often people suffer in silence, in fear and in despair, People can be unsure of the support that is available to them, who to turn to, and who to trust. It can be easy to lose hope and seek solace in unhealthy behaviors and habits that will only exacerbate the problem. You can find more information about Dr.Emanuele on http://www.emanuelegatti.com You can contact Emanuele by email counseling@emanuelegatti.com The song at the end of the podcast is from my friend Mark Smith. It is called The Corn and the Cane - click this link to access on Youtube. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sdgagencysz/message
Welcome to episode 7 from the SDG Agency SZ Podcast Channel. We are the heroic agents of change throughout this sustainable city of the future -Shenzhen. Our noble crusade is more commonly known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are speaking to Justin Barrett or NOMO as he is now comical referred to at SWIS Shenzhen during this month for his much publicized struggles to grow a Mustache as part of Movember. Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as Anxiety, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide. Justin is a drama and INS teacher at Shen Wai international School in Shenzhen China. He is an proud Ozzie and a passionate St.Kilda’s fan like my previous guest Andrew Vadas on PRS Radio SZ. Being a fan of St.Kilda’s can’t be good for your health so it’s probably lucky that Vista Clinic Shenzhen is offering a comprehensive health check for men during the month of November at the cost of 450rmb with an additional charge of 300 rmb if you want the report translated in to english. Promoting health and well-being is one of 17 Global Goals that make up the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. An integrated approach is crucial for progress across the multiple goals. As part of our commitment at SWIS to play our role in raising awareness about SDG 3 our teachers are downgrading their natural beauty and growing an unsightly mustache as part of the Movember Charity Movement which raises awareness about men’s health throughout the month of Movember. Justin 'NoMo' Barrett talks about the value of Mindfulness/Meditation which he has adapted as part of his own effort to maintain a healthy mind. The App we talk about is Headspace which we both use and highly recommend. A full yearly subscription costs about $100 but it is well worth the money. In this TedTalk listen to the founder of Headspace (former monk) Andy Puddicombe talk about the value of Mindfulness. We also speak about the value of walking and listening to podcasts at the same time as a form of therapy (#TherPod). Finally we speak about the value of Gratitude and we both have started an excellent 90 Day Gratitude Journal every night. Justin is going for a check up at Vista Clinic on Tuesday and he speaks about the value of going for regular check ups to look after your physical health as well as taking steps to look after your mental health. We hope you enjoy the show and please speak to a member of SWIS Shenzhen staff if you'd like to donate to our Movember Team. Welcome to episode 4 from the SDG Agency SZ Podcast Channel. On today's show we speak to Chris Mc Kenzie, a recent arrival in August to Shen Wai International School in Shenzhen China . Chris is a proud non-rugby loving Kiwi and is a G5 teacher here. He is a passionate advocate of all issues surrounding Climate Change. Chris is really doing his bit as part of the Sustainable Development Goal 13 which is to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts through the setting up of our very own weather station here at SWIS. You can access the SWIS Weather station here. His after school activity aptly entitled 'Climate Club' builds on his passion for this topic and it is fair to say that Chris is going above and beyond to help achieve target 13.3 of the SDG by improving education and raising awareness on climate change. This is a really fascinating podcast with Chris’ passion about the issue clearly evident, yet it starts in a very poignant manner when I discover for the first time the actual roots of this passion was born during a period of obvious difficultly for Chris when he was being bullied as a child at school. This completely caught me off guard and I was not prepared for it and is a topic and conversation that we will revisit with Chris at a later date as we were under serious time constraints to actually complete the podcast that we had initially planned. We hope you enjoy the podcast and you can find us on the anchor platform by searching for SDG AGENCY or by going to anchor.fm/sdgagency We are also available on apple and google podcasts and spotify as well as many more platforms. Secondly, participants will have the opportunity to delve into the Inspire Citizens’ Global Impact School framework: 9 pathways and 50 benchmarks that encompass school-wide visioning, strategic planning, wellness, media literacy, and the building of internal capacity for sustainable education, service learning, and impactful action across an entire school and local community. Beginning with a pre-assessment via the pathways and benchmarks, participants will ideate long and short term goals while actively experiencing tools to amplify diversity in school culture, global impact, and student learning. By integrating the Global Impact School model with best-practice design principles for long-term, successful professional learning, participants will walk away with a tangible plan to transform their schools, classrooms, and student outcomes. In this short 10 minute podcast you will hear from Justin Hardman live from #21CLTeachMeet Shenzhen talking about this and the work of 21CLHK in general and it will conclude with Aaron Moniz who took some time out from his busy schedule to record some additional details for us. Jingcheng Yang and Ray Wang - the inventors of the award winning App Minus Footprint are the guests on the second ever episode of the SDG Agency Shenzhen Podcast. We hear the story about the development of this App as well as what they would like to change in the world and what they value in their lives. This is a particularly insightful interview with the boys where their passion for the #SDGs and their quest to change the world in a positive manner is clear for everyone to hear. Their humility, honesty and decency is a joy to hear and they speak highly of the mentorship of Ms. Joanne Anderson (Twitter: @sdggeek) at SWIS. We hope you enjoy the show. It is something special (in my humble opinion) and they have been honored with the title of ‘SDG Agents of Change 001’ from the SDG Agency SZ. #sdgagencysz #sdgagent001 #sdgagents *****we apologize for the interference in audio during a 5 minute segment**** --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sdgagencysz/message
