In this episode of The Louisiana NOW podcast, we are joined by Dr. Carla Cardoza, President of Lydia Patterson Institute and Bishop Delores J. Williamston. In a powerful response to an unfolding immigration crisis affecting the Lydia Patterson Institute (LPI), the Council on Finance and Administration of The Louisiana Conference, in partnership with the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana, announced a $240,000 gift to support the El Paso-based United Methodist school. The decision was made in an immediate series of meetings following emotional scenes at the 2025 Annual Conference, where LPI President Dr. Carla Cardoza broke down in tears during her address. Dr. Cardoza had just received news that the U.S. Consulate would no longer schedule visa interviews for students. It's a decision that could prevent 30% of LPI's student body from attending school this fall. Please call, write, or email your local, state, and federal officials. Urge them to restore access to student visa interviews and support educational institutions like LPI that stand at the intersection of faith, education, and opportunity. Lives are being shaped at LPI—let your voice be part of the story.

This is my take on a resolution we will be voting on at our Annual Conference. I am not sure if it has an extended shelf life. I might bring it down after it serves its purpose. This is simply an attempt to explain, in more time than I would have on Thursday, why I find a particular resolution problematic. The resolution is HERE.

Dr. Pollack also explores how mitochondrial health, light exposure, grounding, herbal compounds, and hyperbaric oxygen all influence our internal hydration and vitality at a cellular level.Whether you're into bioenergetics, red light therapy, or hydration science, this episode is a must-listen.Topics covered:• What is EZ Water and how it powers cells• Why hydration isn't just about drinking water• The shocking truth about ATP and cellular energy• How light, movement, and herbs influence cellular water• Implications for cancer, chronic disease, and aging• Dr. Pollack's upcoming book Charged Dr. Gerald H. Pollack is a professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington and a pioneering researcher in the field of water science. He is renowned for his discovery of the “fourth phase of water,” also known as exclusion zone (EZ) water, which exists beyond the traditional solid, liquid, and vapor states. Publicans are calling on the Government to treat them all equally. The Vintners Federation met in Limerick on Tuesday for their annual general conference. The Federation says the majority of publicans do not serve food and will be at a commercial disadvantage if the government moves ahead with its present plan to apply a reduced rate to publicans who do. It's also calling for a 40 per cent rebate on the excise charged to draught products sold in pubs. CEO of the Vintners Federation, Pat Crotty, says many publicans are facing very difficult trading conditions... To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Clare VFI Chair and Owner of O'Deas Pub in Ennis, Charlie O'Meara. The 'operating policing model', by which the country is policed, has failed and is not fit for purpose, according to rank and file gardaí. This year's GRA annual conference opened in Kerry last evening, with neither the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris nor Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan in attendance, the second consecutive year this has happened. The Garda Representative Association (GRA) has invited Commissioner Harris, saying it has no confidence in him. The GRA is calling on the Commissioner and Minister O'Callaghan to review the operating policing model immediately and publish the results. I To discuss this further Alan Morrissey was joined by Clare GRA representative, Garda Paul Crowley. Photo(C): https://www.facebook.com/gardarep/
AABP Executive Director Dr. Fred Gingrich provides an update on AABP membership dues in this episode of Have You Herd? The mission of the AABP is to provide support, continuing education and advocacy for current and future veterinary professionals and the cattle they serve. The vision of AABP is to serve society as leaders in cattle health, welfare and productivity. The current AABP dues year is July 1 to June 30. This dues year was established by the AABP Board of Directors in 1983 to reflect the timing of the Annual Conference in the fall. Much has changed at AABP since 1983 which has resulted in CE offerings year-round. This includes the Recent Graduate Conference, webinars, podcasts, free online CE, online publications, and AABP seminars outside of our conferences. The board developed a task force to develop recommendations for changing the dues year to the calendar year. The reason for the change will be to align the dues year to our fiscal year, distribute staff workload more evenly throughout the year, and allow the organization to have a more consistent cash flow based on current expense cycles. The change in our dues year to the calendar year will take effect this year. Veterinarian members, graduate students and registered veterinary technicians will have two options when renewing their dues which includes either a 6-month renewal at 50% of the annual dues rate, or an 18-month renewal at 150% of the annual dues rate. Members who select a 6-month renewal will be invoiced for the 2026 dues year in the fall/winter. Members who select an 18-month renewal will not be invoiced again until the fall of 2026. Gingrich discusses the three buckets of activity for AABP which includes continuing education, advocacy for cattle veterinarians, and support for the initiatives of the AABP Foundation. All buckets have increased greatly over the past several years with expanded CE options, increased advocacy on a state and federal level, and increased grants and scholarships administered by the AABP Foundation. Gingrich encourages all cattle veterinarians, graduate student veterinarian members and credentialed veterinary technicians to join our organization to support our efforts and take advantage of our resources. He also welcomes veterinary student members to join AABP to ensure they are eligible for student member benefits through AABP and the AABP Foundation.
