Nish's inappropriate occurrences report at Glastonbury is in: there were people kissing, some people had their butts out and nobody seemed to be slapping on the SPF - all very inappropriate. But this isn't what the right-wing press or the government has taken issue with… You've heard it already - the controversy around Kneecap and Bob Vylan's sets engulfed the political discourse over the festival weekend. But is the controversy the real story here? Nish and Coco shine a light on some of what was REALLY said at Glastonbury and question why those messages didn't receive as much airtime.  Later, as the government recovers from the brink of political crisis and the Chancellor's position is drawn into question, Nish and Coco are joined by journalist and author Frances Ryan to discuss the u-turns on u-turns that led to the government's welfare bill passing. But the battle isn't over yet.  Finally, Men's health in the UK is in a sorry place. Nish is joined by Movember's Dr Zac Seidler to discuss the government's upcoming Men's Health Strategy and why young men are being sucked into the manosphere.   SEE US LIVE!  https://crossedwires.live/podcast/pod-save-the-uk Useful Links:  Contribute your thoughts to the Men's Health Strategy  https://consultations.dhsc.gov.uk/mens-health-strategy  Frances Ryan: Who Wants Normal?  https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/455467/who-wants-normal-by-ryan-frances/9780241629437  Write to your MP about the Welfare Benefit Cuts! https://www.writetothem.com/ Guests: Frances Ryan  Dr Zac Seidler Audio credits: BBC Pod Save the UK is a Reduced Listening production for Crooked Media. In this rebroadcast from season 9, Carrie Fox sits down with Dana Snyder, a digital strategist for nonprofits and the CEO and founder of Positive Equation. Snyder, who has supported organizations like Movember, Dress for Success, and American Idol, shares her insights on how nonprofits can effectively reach new audiences in the ever-evolving digital landscape.Consider, for example, the importance of strategic investment in social media. How are organizations to determine which channels to focus their resources on based on their values and target audience? Snyder emphasizes the significance of data-driven decision-making, recommending tools like Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with an organization's website and social media channels. But more importantly, she highlights how most individuals are tilted toward good, and that your audience might just be comfortable in large numbers on platforms you personally find misaligned with your own values. Throughout the episode, Snyder stresses the importance of being genuinely social on social media platforms, creating platform-specific content, and fostering meaningful connections with followers. She suggests that organizations consider hiring virtual assistants to manage their social media presence if it aligns with their budgets and priorities. The conversation also touches on the role of artificial intelligence in content creation for nonprofits. Snyder offers practical advice on how to train AI tools to generate relevant and engaging content while staying true to an organization's mission and values. For nonprofits looking to make the most of their social media efforts, this episode of Mission Forward offers valuable insights and actionable tips from a seasoned digital strategist.

If you're a bloke, or have a bloke (young or old) in your life - this is a conversation not to be missed. Once you've listened to it, share it far and wide, as Dr. Zac Seidler, a clinical psychologist and Director of Research at Movember, has the most comprehensive view I've ever come across on what positive masculinity and good men's mental health looks like. The conversation focuses on not just the psychological aspects of men's mental health, but the societal framework that shapes masculinity. The discussion traverses through topics of men's mental health awareness, therapeutic approaches, toxic and positive masculinity, and how we can foster healthier male communities. What You'll Learn: Deciphering Masculinity: We delve into how the traditional concepts of masculinity can be both harmful and beneficial and discuss the need to redefine masculinity in more positive, flexible terms. Therapeutic Approaches: Explore why traditional therapy might not resonate with men and how 'gender-sensitive' therapy can be a more effective approach. Social Connection: The vital role of social networks in men's mental health and how a lack of these connections can lead to severe psychological issues, including suicide. Preventative Measures: Understand the importance of getting ahead of mental health issues through early interventions and community-based programs. Breaking Down Stigmas: Discuss the societal changes needed to address mental health proactively instead of reactively, and the importance of redefining spaces for men to safely express themselves. Key Takeaways: Masculinity Redefined: Emphasising the value of attributes like stoicism, altruism, and service when appropriately contextualised. Supportive Networks: Highlighting the significance of building and maintaining strong social connections throughout life. Therapy Reimagined: Utilising flexible therapeutic practices that consider men's socialisation and comfort levels. Community and Connection: Promoting the idea that safe, non-judgmental spaces are crucial for men's mental health. Early Intervention: The critical role of incorporating mental health teachings and practices from a young age to build resilience. Resources: Engage with Movember's initiatives focusing on men's mental health. Explore gender-sensitive therapy training programs like "Men in Mind" to better understand how to engage men in therapeutic settings. Connect with organisations like "The Man Cave" and "Top Blokes" that offer programs to support young men. Support and Share: Listening to this podcast could inspire not just awareness but also actionable steps towards building better support systems for the men in our lives. A breaking news podcast from ASCO GU in San Francisco! Prof Louise Emmett (St Vincent's, Sydney), has just read out the latest update from the ENZA-P trial (and simultaneous publication in Lancet Oncology), reporting that the combination of LuPSMA and enzalutamide improves overall survival when compared with enzalutamide alone, in men with poor prognosis mCRPC. Big news!! A 45% reduction in the risk of death in favour of the combination. Plus excellent quality of life for those receiving the combo. We are joined by Louise and co-author A/Prof Andrew Weickhardt (Austin Health, Melbourne), to discuss this exciting data from the ENZA-P trial, and what it means for the future of not just mCRPC, but also for similar combinations in mHSPC.ENZA-P is an investigator-initiated Phase II trial led by ANZUP in partnership with the Prostate Cancer Research Alliance, a join initiative between the Australian Government and Movember. Your co-hosts as ever are Professor Declan Murphy and Dr Renu Eapen. This is a Themed podcast supported by our Gold Partners, Astellas, and our Silver Partners, Novartis. It's back to normal on this Monday episode, as there are no victories to celebrate to start this week. Things start with Andy lamenting about the latest Bears loss, a disappointing effort against the Cardinals in Arizona. His Illini also lost to Minnesota this week, leading to a discussion about P.J. Fleck's gameday attire in the cold weather months of college football season. Brendan notes that he's skeptical of when "Movember" became a thing as the calendar flips to November before briefly mentioning a Jameis Winston-led Browns loss. It's all golf talk from there, as Andy and Brendan recap the LPGA's Toto Classic, which was not in Africa, and the Challenge Tour event in Mallorca, Spain. Bryson DeChambeau's triumphant return to Dallas is covered after his appearance with the U.S. Open trophy at the SMU football game. The two mention a report from The Sun regarding a PGA Tour-PIF deal nearing completion as well. Brendan looks ahead to this week's World Wide Technology Championship, where Champs Tour staple Billy Andrade is playing on a sponsor exemption. To wrap this episode up, the TGL is covered extensively. Producer PJ hosts a guessing game about player descriptions on the league's official website, leading to a discussion about Lucas Glover's career in the early 2000s. Andy then shares the first-ever set of TGL odds, as you can now bet on who will be the league's inaugural champion.

We're diving into the sticky topic of boys today. We tackle the often-overlooked struggles boys face in today's world, inspired partly by Richard Reeves from the Brookings Institution (youtube link below). While we wholeheartedly celebrate the progress made for girls and women—a movement that is crucial and long overdue—we also need to shine a light on the alarming new statistics regarding boys: declining college graduation rates, slipping school performance, and the fact that 4 out of 5 suicides are male. What does modern masculinity look like? Is there still a place for masculinity in our modern society? And how do we define it when so much of historical masculinity needs to evolve or be left behind? This topic is undeniably sticky. It can feel like supporting boys somehow detracts from empowering our daughters, but we're here to set the record straight: lifting up one group doesn't mean leaving another behind. We can—and must—do both!As we explore these complex issues, we're excited to announce that today, November 1, coincides with the kickoff of Movember! Max is diving into the spirit of the month by growing his first mustache to raise funds for men's health issues. As Movember approaches, Jake and Damian catch up to discuss the critical role that health plays in achieving high performance. Movember is a global initiative that raises awareness about men's mental and physical health, making it the perfect time for them to reflect on the importance of taking care of yourself, not just for success, but to truly enjoy the fruits of that success. In this episode, Jake and Damian reflect on lessons from guests like Michael Johnson, David Smith, Billy Monger, and Mark Cavendish, emphasising the importance of overcoming challenges, spending quality time with loved ones, and prioritising activities that boost well-being. They highlight the value of focusing on health when you're feeling good to prevent neglect during tough times, and stress the need for therapy, likening emotional wellness to a bucket that can overflow if not managed; an essential consideration for every man's well-being.Listen in to hear more about how understanding your emotions and taking care of your mental and physical health can lead to a balanced and fulfilled life.
