Release the Kraken! Twice!Clash of the Titans had been an idea since the late 1950s, with writer Beverley Cross writing a treatment in 1969 called Perseus and the Gorgon's Head. At the time, producer Charles H. Schneer and legendary animator Ray Harryhausen were working on other films, and so what became Clash of the Titans would have to wait until 1977 to start pre-production.It would eventually release in 1981 and include not only one of Harryhausen's most memorable creatures, Medusa, but also signal the beginning of the end of his career. Clash of the Titans would be his final film, in part thanks to a scathing review.Clash of the Titans would inevitably be remade one day, and that remake fell to Louis Leterrier, and new writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, using an original script by Travis Beacham based on Cross' original script. Updated to modern audiences' needs for big budgets, big-name actors and huge CG spectacle, Warner Bros would notice the huge 3D revolution started by James Cameron's Avatar, and decided to convert Clash of the Titans to 3D in post-production... I would love to hear your thoughts on Clash of the Titans (1981) & Clash of the Titans (2010) !CONTACT.... The showrunners said to expect the unexpected as the orphans, who are reminded that they are family, are brought back together to help their friend. Mystic said he was happy to come back to play Reynie and had no trouble getting back into character, while Emmy DeOliveria said this season has some great moments, including some with her "dad," Ryan Hurst. Additionally, all of the EPs and Showrunners said this was a big season to take on, but they could not be more proud. Listen in to hear everyone's take on their latest adventure. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Corinna Caimi Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: This season, Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance, the four gifted orphans recruited by the eccentric Mr. Benedict, embark on another mission to save the world from the nefarious plans of his twin brother Dr. L.D. Ukens anbefalinger fra panelet er: Charles Fleming (1999), High Concept - Don Simpson and the Hollywood Culture of Excess.Karyn Kusama og Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (2015), The Invitation.Sally Potter (2017), The Party. From Austin Film Festival this is On Story, a look inside the creative process from today’s leading creators, writers and filmmakers. Phil Hay is a screenwriter and producer. Hay’s writing partner Matt Manfredi and director Karyn Kusama made the 2019 Los Angeles crime drama Destroyer which starred Nicole Kidman. In 2015, the three made the horror film The Invitation – the film follows a man as he becomes increasingly suspicious of his ex-wife’s motives while attending a dinner party hosted at their old house. Hay spoke about the film at the 26th annual Austin Film Festival with moderator Maya Perez.
In the inaugural episode of "An Invitation to THE INVITATION," host Jim Penola recites and breaks down the first 6 pages of the shooting script for 2015's THE INVITATION (the acclaimed suspense/drama directed by Karyn Kusama and written by Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi). As per the structure of the series, Penola contrasts the selected pages with the final cut of the film – noting the similarities and differences and how they fit into the greater thematic ideas of the story.

This morning at SWIS, Matt Manfredi from Long Island in New York was the guest on SWIS ROC Radio. We hear a little bit of information about his family; his mother and father, Lois and Dante and his wonderful daughter, Kayley in Hanoi (who eats snails....). Matt has been an educator for 18 years and it does not show in his youthful appearance! On the 11&12th May at Level 5, Shekou, Matt will lead a workshop designed to explore the use of student-centered, discussion-based education described as the Harkness method. It’s a collaborative approach to problem solving and learning. This method was created and is used daily at Phillips Exeter Academy located in Exeter, New Hampshire. Phillips Exeter has been consistently ranked as one of the top ten best prep schools in America. It was enlightening listening to Matt explain the Harkness method in greater detail and it was very obvious that he is very passionate about it and is eager to share more details with the participants at the workshop. Matt finally admits (we all knew) that his hero is Tina Turner. It was a fitting way to end the show. We hope you enjoy the show and if you would like to find out more information about the Harkness method or if you'd like to meet Matt in person (?) then pop along to the INS department at SWIS Shenzhen. Welcome to Everything Trying to Kill You, the comedy podcast that talks about horror movies! In episode 38 about Karyn Kusama’s The Invitation (2015), your hosts (Mary Kay, Mary, and Maegan) answer important questions like these:What is the appropriate way to eat chicken wings? What is your answer to the “I Want” game that the cast plays? What makes Will and Kira our protagonist couple immediately? What was the first red flag that this movie sent up? Would you accept this dinner party invitation? What were your feelings about the Horror Noire documentary? What is the benefit of making our final girl a Black woman? How does that make us empathize with Kira, or does it? Why did all of the guests actually show up, and no one flake out? What was the point of the dinner party? Were they actually trying to recruit them into the cult? (Because the last turn makes us think that it is not.) how does Will get away from the party so much? Did Eden and David make that dinner themselves? What kind of deal did Eden make with the devil to keep that dress THAT white? Why was the blocking so weird? What about the gaze on Will that we get through cinematography? Are we happy with the representation here? How do you pronounce the word “ensemble?” Is Eden the real antagonist? How did you feel when John Carroll Lynch showed up? How did the cult make the jump from death-positivity to MURDER EVERYONE? What would you wear to your SO’s exwife’s dinner party? The Invitation (2015)– Directed by Karyn Kusama. Written by Phil Hay, Matt Manfredi. Performances by Logan Marshall-Green, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Michiel Huisman. This week on Now Streaming, we review the 2016 film THE INVITATION starring Logan Marshall-Green (PROMETHEUS), John Carroll Lynch (American Horror Story: Freak Show), Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones) and Tammy Blanchard (MONEYBALL). The horror/thriller is directed by Karyn Kusama (GIRLFIGHT) and written by Phil Hay, Matt Manfredi. If you attended a dinner party hosted by your ex-wife and her new boyfriend at your old home, and they broke out a video of their new found love for a cult in which they circle around to watch people die, would you stay? Yeah. Well, with the exception of Will (Logan Michael-Green) this group doesn't quite catch on fast enough. This film completely messes with your mind and it is AWESOME! Killer performances/writing/directions, it's a gem of a find. Stream it now! Big Justice.
Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. 2016 continues forward with new and interesting genre films being released that seem not to have been on many peoples radar. The movie, The Invitation, dropped upon VOD in April to very positive reviews from critics that attended screenings during its festival run. Starring some noted genre actors including Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus; Devil) and Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones; World War Z) and a large ensemble cast, the film appears to be one thing but may actually be something else all together. Will and his girlfriend are invited to his ex-wife and her new husband's home for a dinner date that would reunite him with a group of friends that he hadn't seen in some time. Unfortunately on his arrival he is reminded about a tragic event in his and his ex-wife's past that literally tore their marriage apart. Quiet and melancholic, he floats through the night in a daze as he is re-introduced to his old friends and two of his wife's new friends. But he begins to feel as if something is amiss. That this "party" is something more than just healing old wounds and re-uniting with old friends. The Invitation was directed by Karyn Kusama already known for her other films Aeon Flux and Jennifer's Body. The screenplay was co-written by the partner duo of Phil Hay (who's also Karyn's husband) and Matt Manfredi. Though a limited release and basically straight to VOD, some say that this may be Karyn Kusama's best film and possibly one of the best horror films of 2016. Dark Discussions talks and critiques a film that seems to have a lot more to say than what it first presents itself as. As always we welcome your comments: darkdiscussions@aol.com (written email or attached mp3 files) WWW.DARKDISCUSSIONS.COM
