She experienced sudden fevers, respiratory problems, burning blurry eyes, dental problems and had a weak immunity. Sjogren is an autoimmune condition, which progresses with age. Kirtida is truly a champion who has battled all curveballs life throws her way. With her steely determination and zest for life, she started Sjogren India, a support group for patients battling this debilitating disease in India.

Today, she is a writer, a mental health advocate and a clinical psychologist in the making.

As a working professional, it was extremely difficult for her to manage her diagnosis as it adversely affected her physical and mental health. After four years of medical treatment, she is now focusing on lifestyle changes to help her manage the diagnosis. This week on SheSlays we have with us, Mrs. Neetu Wadhwa Neetu was diagnosed in 2009 with Scleroderma which is a Chronic Rheumatic Condition. Her symptoms were visible from 2006 and her diagnosis journey was full of trials, resulting in multiple doctor visits with varying symptoms starting from Acid Reflux, Breathing issues, Joint pains, Swelling in fingers, and Blue fingers. Scleroderma is an incurable autoimmune condition, and hence she had to manage the symptoms effectively with medical intervention. With adequate medical attention and effective lifestyle changes, today, she has emerged a triumphant hero, who is challenging her diagnosis and the limitations it comes with as a true warrior. She is also the founder of Scleroderma India, an advocacy group generating awareness about the condition.

Pankhuri was recovering from a major leg fracture when she tested positive for Covid 19. This diagnosis was shocking for her as she was already immobilized because of the fracture. With the positive diagnosis, she had to further quarantine herself. The difficult road to recovery also took a toll on her mental health. She also battled through second-degree burns in this time period. Her unparalleled courage and strength were tested, but she championed through all these struggles and emerged victorious. She is a disability rights activist, who fiercely advocates against ableism and is a catalyst of change in the movement demanding more accessibility for people with different abilities. Today, Simran is an excellent Badminton player, who has been training to participate in the Special Olympics. This week on She Slays, we have with us Saloni Shah. Saloni is a mother of two children, who faced unprecedented difficulty in her second pregnancy. She was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which meant that her pregnancy was extremely difficult to detect and that there could be complications during childbirth. She had severe pain and extreme vomiting, owing to which her doctor advised her to terminate the pregnancy. However, she fought all odds and gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Nirvaan. After four years of therapy and counselling, at the age of 20, she started her commercial art journey and there has been no looking back since. Sanika has also started her own initiative 'Hrudayaantar' which encourages conversations about mental health, with the motive to spread the message of kindness. She then persevered and embarked on her fitness journey. A year and a half later, she has crowned Mrs India and has won two other prestigious beauty pageants since. The condition caused her to gain weight and eventually led to depression, taking a toll on her personal and professional life. Eventually, she made a tremendous lifestyle change, which caused her to lose weight, and caused an improvement in her PCOD-related symptoms. She says for her, an exercise is a form of therapy. This week on She Slays, we have with us Keyuri Bhanushali. At the age of 26, Keyuri developed a persistent cough, which she dismissed as common flu. Later, when a doctor told her to get further tests, it was found that the cough was indeed tuberculosis. Not diminishing her faith, she was sure to fight the disease, but unfortunately, hers was a rare case of drug-resistant tuberculosis. Despite it all, Keyuri fought for three years and emerged victoriously. She now spreads awareness about TB as an active member of the survivor's community. Come let's listen to this champs story.
This week on She Slays, we have Vachasamrita Saiju, who was only 14-years-old when she was diagnosed with SLE or commonly known as Lupus. Lupus is an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its tissues. It affects the joints, skin, kidneys, brain, heart and lungs. A true champion indeed she has today connected with Lupus patients from all over India! Along with her doctor and fellow Lupus patients in Kerala, she co-founded the Lupus Trust India, which is the first organisation committed to addressing the needs of Lupus patients in India. A project management specialist with HCL Technologies and a practising professional dancer and choreographer, Jyotsana was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2015, and today has been living with the disease for five years. Nupur has been living with type 1 diabetes since the last 25 years and requires 4-6 injections daily and sugar tests on a glucometer 5-7 times every day, to keep her diabetes in check. An incurable disease, Epilepsy resulted in various tribulations for Meenakshi, including short term memory loss. It was only at the age of 21 that Meenakshi connected with a doctor who found the right medicine that could control her fits. And thus began a journey from depression to optimism. This week's champion is Kopal Awasthi. Kopal was diagnosed with Jaundice at the mere age of three years. What started as a fever, resulted in an emergency hospital admission. With all the medications going in her and continuous hospitalisations, she had to drop out of school. Our this week's She Slays champion is Bhawna Mehta - a lifestyle and food influencer. Five years ago, on a family trip, Bhawna fell sick and couldn’t eat anything. She was admitted to a hospital, under a suspected cancer diagnosis. Instead she was diagnosed with a non-malignant cyst. The traumatic experience also led to an anxiety disorder diagnosis, which took three years for Bhawna. This is her story.

Trouble began when during the course of her first pregnancy, she discovered that she was severely anaemic. The problem got aggravated with the birth of her second child. After suffering for a long time and even slipping into a coma in 2017. This is her story.
This week we on She Slays, we are in conversation with 26-years-old Harini Joshi from Gujarat. Harini was diagnosed with two holes in her heart when she was merely 2-3 years old. She went ahead to get an open heart surgery done at the age of 4 in Chennai and was implanted with a pacemaker. Today her heart is fully dependent on the pacemaker for its functioning. Harini mostly leads a normal life, apart from ensuring her pacemaker never runs out of battery and avoids too much exertion. Come let's listen to her story.

Headaches rendered Sarwat helpless on many occasions when migraines stalled her daily functionality and often made her feel dizzy and nauseous too. Ashi developed a severe case of depression at the age of 16. Sexual abuse traumas, slutshaming and name-calling made it impossible to recover from her health problem. Ashi did try to reach out to people, but owing to the limited awareness of mental health, her efforts bore no fruit. She knew that therapy would be a blacklisted tipic in her household and she personally wanted to avoid medication. So Ashi decided to help herself in her own hands. She began going for regular walks and tried different activities each day and continued to invest in self-care and self-love. Preeti Singh is a 45-years-old, communication consultant from Delhi who was diagnosed with a rare disorders called the Guillain-Barre syndrome Gullian Bars syndrome or GBS. This week on She Slays, we have Puja Bhushan with. 48-year-old Puja is the head of the design department at Petals Children’s Wear and lives and works in Delhi. Puja was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst on her left ovary and deep pelvic endometriosis along with fatty liver, high blood pressure, multiple allergies and acute anxiety. In a bid to avoid the complexities of a surgery, Puja tried homeopathy and ayurveda for over a year but only to see no progress. By now the fear of the cyst turning malignant had also become prominent. This week we have a fighter joining us from Delhi. Shrinkhala, a 24-years old, civil Services aspirant and current lawyer, Shrinkhala is a fighter of anxiety, body dimorphism, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Shrinkhala had been suffering from a loss in appetite and sleep and was constantly overthinking. The combination of which resulted in frequent yet significant panic attacks and a loss of reality.
