La giornata in questa sala si concluderà alle 17 con un energico laboratorio di danza Bollywood, un'opportunità per il pubblico di conoscere e vivere l'energia travolgente di una delle forme d'arte più famose e amate in tutto il mondo.Il cuore del programma artistico si svolgerà nella Sala Massimo, dove alle 17:45 avrà luogo la cerimonia inaugurale con l'accensione della lampada, un gesto simbolico che rappresenta l'inizio ufficiale della Diwali. A seguire, alle 18, la Nishrinkala Dance Academy di Hyderabad porterà in scena in prima nazionale lo spettacolo “Triveni”, un'opera che mescola danza e spiritualità, interpretata dai celebri ballerini Sai Venkata Gangadhar e Lakshmi Vempadappa, per la prima volta in Italia, accompagnati da Atmananda Talavidya.Il programma serale culminerà nel concerto di musica classica indiana con la partecipazione del famoso flautista Rakesh Chaurasia, vincitore di un Grammy Award nel 2024, insieme a Sanjay Kansa Banik alle percussioni tabla e Nicolò Melocchi al bansuri. Master Hariom is the trendsetter of Kuchipudi , Bollywood and Semi classical Indian dance in Hong Kong among the locals ever since he started teaching here in 2003. He has been a dancer , dance teacher and choreographer in a career spanning over 4 decades. He started learning Kuchipudi in his hometown of visakhapatnam since the age of 3 and went on to learn under the tutelage of many esteemed gurus such as Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Sri Pasumarti Sitaramayya ji and Guru Sri Hari Ramamurty, a direct disciple of Padmabhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam becoming a champion in district, state and national level competitions. He was a national scholarship awardee from Center for cultural research and training, a wing of the union Human Resources and development ministry of India to learn Kuchipudi. He started teaching in India in 1992 in his home town and moved to here in 2003 to continue his teaching. In this episode we sit with Raja Kumari, aka Svetha Yallapragada Rao, a world renowned Telugu-American rapper, Grammy-nominated songwriter, singer, previously first female rapper to be signed to Nas' label Mass Appeal Records, now the founder of her own label; Godmother Records. Battling alone with COVID twice to making bold career decisions, and dealing with life's twists and turns yet looking at life enthusiastically each day, there's so much to learn from her.Meet Seetha Ratnakar, a seasoned television director, who boasts over four decades of media experience. Commencing as an advertising agency copywriter, she transitioned to directing Doordarshan programs in 1975. Notably, she held the position of Assistant Station Director at Doordarshan. Trained in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi by respected Gurus, she danced extensively before pivoting into dance programming. Beyond this, Seetha Ratnakar's directorial prowess extended to dance programs for Doordarshan where she directed performances of India's top dancers, now preserved in archives. Notably, she helmed the acclaimed dance ballet "Rasavrishti," India's entry at the Golden Prague Festival (1985). Her passion for preserving classical and folk arts is evident through her work in short films. In recognition of her impact, she was featured in an illustrated talk titled "The Dancing Frame: Doordarshan and Beyond." Her documentary "Cosmic Connection," pays tribute to her enduring artistic connection with Lord Nataraja and the world of art and culture. Padma Shri Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant has been described as one who "inhabits the worlds of administration, academics, and arts; straddling them with equal ease." A Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer and guru, she was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, for her contributions to the field of dance. She has performed across the world, and Dr Ananda is back in Malaysia for her first performance since the pandemic, sharing the stage with her disciple Neha Sathanapalli in a dance show titled, Thyagaraja Ramayanam. Presented by the Kalpana Dance Theatre, Dr Ananda joins us to discuss the upcoming performance, share stories from her illustrious career in dance, and also how she conquered cancer and continues to live her passions.
In this episode, Dr. Shilpa Darivemula shares about how her experiences as both a dancer and a doctor led her to create the Aseemkala Initiative. This group is dedicated to harnessing the power of traditional dance to perform modern stories about healthcare inequities. Dr. Darivemula is trained in a form of Indian classical dance known as Kuchipudi. Distinct styles of dance have evolved in different regions of India, each with their own specific nuances. However, all these dance forms are governed by the basic rules and guidelines laid down in the Natya Shastra. Presently, as per Sangeet Natak Akademi, there exists eight classical dance forms in India, which include Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Mohiniattam, Odissi, Manipuri, Kathak and Sattriya. About Brinda Guha Brinda Guha identifies as a non-disabled, caste-privileged, cisgender and queer South-Asian American, and is a trained Kathak dancer for over 20 years. During training and performing for years in the Kathak (Malabika Guha) & Manipuri (Kalavati + Bimbavati Devi) dance disciplines, as well as Flamenco (Carmen de las Cuevas; Dionisia Garcia) and Contemporary Fusion vocabularies, she co-founded Kalamandir Dance Company in 2010 based in the vocabulary of #ContemporaryIndian. She's choreographed for many national stages, the North American Bengali Conference at Madison Square Garden, and self-produced original feature-length dance productions which earned her artist residencies at Dixon Place (2018) and Dancewave (2019) to continue to develop work. In the fifth episode of Off Season Chats, Ameya & Kiran chat with Colombo-based Kandyan dance teacher, performer, & principal dancer at the world-renowned Chitrasena School of Dance Thaji Dias. She reflects on her artistic journey, upholding a multigenerational family legacy, and how the pandemic and Sri Lanka's economic struggles are impacting artists. About Thaji Dias: Thaji Dias is the youngest granddaughter of Chitrasena and Vajira, the illustrious dance duo of Sri Lanka, and the Principal Dancer of Chitrasena Dance Company, which is Sri Lanka's oldest and most prestigious dance company. The company was established in the 1940s by Guru Chitrasena, who was instrumental in bringing Sri Lanka's traditional dances from village rituals to the modern stage. Thaji has been a full-time professional dancer and teacher at the Company since May 2012. Introduced to Kandyan dance under her grandmother nearly 25 years ago, she began touring with the dance company at age 12 alongside her aunt and Guru Upeka Chitrasena in an international festival in Paris at the Theatre Du Soleil as a guest of Ariane Mnouchkine. Since then, Thaji has toured Taipei (2004), Montpellier, France (2005), New York, USA (2011), Singapore (2012), and India on several occasions. She also represented the company in their first international collaboration Samhara, with the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble of India. Groomed in the strictest classical traditions under Pdt. Birju Maharaj, Prof. Bela Arnab, Pdt. Vijay Shankar and other leading maestros of the premier Kathak gharanas, Amita dances with a hypnotic force and subtle sensitivity combining rhythmic virtuosity with delicate expressiveness, commendable, ‘taiyaari' with mastery in ‘abhinayanga'. In her art we find a successful blend of tradition and talent, environmental totality as well as breathtaking dynamism. Her innovative, analytic mind has also constantly encouraged her to experiment with new ideas - thus expanding the boundaries of Kathak. Having her roots in Calcutta, Amita has performed far and wide across three continents. Among her innumerable dance recitals in prestigious dance and music festivals, mention may be made of the Khajuraho Dance Festival, the Konark Festival, Utsav Mahakaleshwar, Rajgir Mahotsav, the Biswa Banga Millennium Festival, the First South Asian Festival of SAARC Countries, the India Festival in USSR, the American Dance Festival, Uday Shankar Festival, Sarat Chandrika Festival, North American Bengali Conference, Nritya Nitya Utsav, the Young Choreographers Festival, Nir Mahal Tourism Festival, Bishnupur Tourism Festival, the India Festival at Singapore entitled Incredible India @ 60, China Kunming International Culture and Tourism Festival and many more. During the Autumn Festival of 1990 at Darjeeling, when the President of India, Sri R. Venkataraman, came as the Chief Guest, the Governor of West Bengal Prof. Nurul Hassan invited Amita to present her traditional dance and choreographic composition Durga. She also performed for the official government function for the Golden Jubilee of Indian Independence at Patna (1997). During the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe to Kolkata, Amita performed in the lead with her University troupe in her own choreographic creations on Tagore's songs. She has also popularized her dance by performing at academic conferences and institutions. The Governor of Bengal Sri Narayanan invited her to present her dance before the King of Bhutan HM Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk at the Raj Bhavan Kolkata on October 5, 2010. In addition to giving solo recitals, Amita has been experimenting with new choreographic patterns blending pure Kathak movements with popular songs and innovative themes and has staged a number of very successful choreographic productions including Durga, Chitra Jhankar, Nazrul nana Chande, Biswa Beena Robey, Bhanusingher Padavali, Geetanjali, East West Encounter, Nrityanajali, Joyodhwani, Amrapali, E ki Madhura Chanda, Swadesh, Mother, Celebrating Light, Dash Avatar, Celebrating Light, Varsha and Basant-Bahar. She has given three recitals for the National Programme of Dance on Doordarshan. Her performances have also been telecast over various channels innumerable times both in India and abroad including USA, Germany, Hungary and the former USSR. Her interviews over the radio and the television in various parts of the world have spread the message of Kathak far and wide. Besides being an excellent dancer Amita is also a brilliant student of English Literature and a Gold Medalist of the Calcutta University. Her academic background has helped her to popularize her dance form through her prolific publications in major books and journals such as Bhakti in Indian Classical Dances (Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad), Desh Binodon 1987 (Special Issue on Dance), The Statesman Festival Number 1990, Special Independence Golden Jubilee Issue of Desh and Dance Specials of Nandan. Papers on major aspects of dance written by her have been published in various departmental Journals of Rabindra Bharati University and Gauhati University and in Rabindra Bharati University Convocation Volumes 2005 and 2006. Amita's Kathak Mahotsav (monograph) was published by Kathak Kendra, New Delhi and she is a regular contributor to the dance sections of The Statesman, Aajkaal and Bartamaan and has written for The Hindustan Times, Sananda, Pratidin, Business Economics, Dainik Statesman, West Bengal and Paribartan. She is a regular columnist for Maashik Basumati with a special page – Prantik - assigned to her for each issue. She has written papers for innumerable journals of major Universities. Her conference paper - The Resurgence of Indian Classical Dance in the Twentieth Century: Colonial Inheritance or Indigenous Self Fashioning? - presented at an international seminar of the Department of English, Calcutta University, has been published in the volume ‘Colonial and Post Colonial Perspectives: Context, Text, Intertext'. Amita's moving deliberations in seminars and conferences all over the world in academic conferences and other forums have helped to spread the message of her dance. The Tagore Festival at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA featured Amita as the Key-note Speaker (Tagore on Education) as well as the star performer (2004). The Peking University, Beijing, China invited her to perform on Tagore in their conference on “Understanding Tagore” (2010). A dedicated teacher, Amita's students include National and State Scholarship Awardees, University Gold Medalists and successful performers. Amita has been the research advisor of many research scholars including Fulbright scholars. As Artistic Director of Ananda Chandrika, an organization (with a Government Partnership) for research and productions on dance, Amita has choreographed and presented many innovative dance programs and documented many dance productions. Amita has served as Judge and Member of the Jury in important national events such as National Kala Utsav organized by the NCERT, Ministry of Human Resource Development, in National competitions organized by the Ministry of Culture and Pdt. Birju Maharaj ji's Kalashram and in state level competitions organized by the Ministries of Information & Culture and Sports & Youth Affairs, WB. In an attempt to popularize and make available authentic training of Kathak all over the world, Amita has embarked on a program of teaching through the television and the web. She has been the Resource person for 36 episodes on Kathak covering the entire Bachelor of Performing Arts Foundation Course in Kathak as prescribed by the University Grants Commission and produced by the Educational Multi Media Research Centre, Kolkata, for the University Grants Commission - Consortium for Education Communication scheme. This project is still continuing with more episodes under preparation for the Bachelor of Performing Arts 2nd Year, 3rd Year and 4th Year Courses. These courses are available as CDs from the UGC-CEC office at Delhi and are telecast often on the Indian television Doordarshan National and UGC network and on the EMRC website. These programs have received citations in the 19TH UGC-CEC All India Educational Video Competition held at New Delhi in Oct-Nov 2007 in the categories Best Programme in E-content and Best Presenter / Anchor Person. Amita was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by Prasar Bharti (Doordarshan) in November 2015. She has been the Head of the Department of Dance (2001-2003 & 2014) and the Dean of the Faculty Council of Undergraduate and Post Graduate Studies in Fine Arts (2006-2010) at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Her associations with other major Universities as Resource Person, Expert, Visiting Fellow and Examiner include Visvabharati (Santiniketan), Indira Kala Sangit Vishwa Vidyalaya (Khairagarh), M.S.University (Baroda), Punjabi University (Patiala), Calcutta University, Banaras Hindua University, North Bengal University, Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed University, Jadavpur University, Kalyani University, Tripura University, Bharatidasan University (Tiruchirapalli) and University of Burdwan. She has also given Lecture Demonstrations at various Universities in USA including the Universities of Arizona, Duke, Yale, Purdue, Ohio, Miami, Delaware, Fayetteville State, Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Tulsa and Central Florida. Amita has been teaching Online through the Massive Open Online Course titled Foundation Course in Kathak (June to December 2020, July to December 2021) and Junior Course in Kathak (January to June 2021) hosted on MHRD's SWAYAM portal with EMMRC, St. Xavier's College as the Regional Nodal Agency. These courses are supported by the Consortium for Education Communication (CEC) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Amita was awarded the Shiksha Ratna Award for 2017 by the Government of West Bengal, Department of Education for her contribution to Higher Education and the Parul Shiksha Samman 2017 by the University of Calcutta. She was also awarded the Anupama Award 2017 for her contribution to Women's Empowerment by Turnstone Global. She was invited by the Government of the United States to the prestigious American Dance Festival where she performed, taught in Master Classes and attended an Arts Management Course. Subsequently she has also contributed to her field as an organizer and manager. She was the Convener, Culture of the Bishwa Banga Millennium Festival and the Artistic Director of the Kathak Mahotsav 2000. She has also been the Coordinator for UGC Refresher Courses on Performing &Visual Arts at her University. Amongst the innumerable awards and honours conferred on her, mention may be made of the titles of Singar Mani, Nritya Urvashi, Nritya Sagar, Nritya Jyoti and Nritya Bharati. She has been honoured at the North American Bengali Conference and the Mayor of Cincinnati, USA gave her the Keys to the City thereby making her an Honorary Citizen and also called that day, May 15, 1994, Amita Dutt Day. In November 2004 she received the Governor's Commendation in recognition of her contribution to Art from Brad Henry, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, USA. On May 26, 2014, she was conferred the Uday Shankar Award – Lifetime Achievement Award for Dance - by the Government of West Bengal. Always eager to serve society and the downtrodden, Amita has given innumerable performances for social service causes – both to create awareness and collect funds. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta, having served in the capacities of Editor, Director and Chairperson. She is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and is the wife of the Past District Governor of Rotary International, Dr. Amitava Mookerjee. She is the Founder Director of the Performing Arts Therapy Centre at Rabindra Bharati University where research is conducted and training is given to serve the ailing and the impaired through dance, drama and music. She has been the Chairman of the Special Cell for Women's Issues at Rabindra Bharati University for five years and has taught on issues of Women's Empowerment at various Universities and Institutes. She is the External Expert for Committees on “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013” for several divisions of Indian Oil Corporation Limited and La Opala RG Ltd. Scholar, choreographer, danseuse and professor, Amita's main aim is to popularize her dance and she has never turned down an opportunity to spread the message of her art at home or abroad. She has given innumerable performances for academic institutions and conferences and social service causes. Amita's present passion is to establish the Bengal Gharana of Kathak. Over the last 150 years Kathak has become a part of the cultural heritage of Bengal. Innumerable performers, teachers and students of Kathak are spread all over the state. Amita wants to crystallize Bengal's contribution to Kathak - which also features her Kathak creations - and lay the foundations of the Bengal Gharana of Kathak.

Episode Notes Afsar Khan started kathak at an early age under the tutelage of his father, Guru Mulla Jafar Khan (Kala Samarpan Awardee), of the Banaras Gharana. Afsar later joined Kathak Kendra New Delhi, under Guru Pt. Rajendra Kumar Gangani (Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee) of the Jaipur Gharana and completed his post diploma there. He has performed widely all across the world through ICCR, Teamworks, and Spic Macay. Afsar has choreographed kathak with other dance forms such as Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Flamenco and Tap dance. This episode follows two interviews with practitioners of Indian classical cance who have followed very different paths to an appreciation of the techniques, meanings, and experiences of the art form. Kinga Malec is a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher specializing in Kathak. She grew up with a strong love of dance, partaking in Polish folk dance and dabbling in ballet, as well as training professionally in figure skating. But her discovery of Kathak compelled a series of journeys, from India to the world stage. Anuradha Nehru is the artistic director of Kalanidhi, a Kuchipudi dance company based in DC known for its elite standards and professional large-scope productions that it has taken across many stages, from the Library of Congress to the Lincoln Center. This week on SheSlays we have with us, Ms. Sahithi Mannar Sahithi is a sexual abuse survivor and activist, who was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after a deep personal loss in her early 20s. Her earlier experiences further contributed to deterioration of her mental health. She sought therapy, and focused on her passion for Kuchipudi to recover from her diagnosis. Today, she is a writer, a mental health advocate and a clinical psychologist in the making.
Shilpa Darivemula discusses the connection between traditional dance, medicine, trauma, and healing. She explains the way that traditional dance allows renarration of identity, how classical Indian dance can tell non-traditional stories, how pairing medicine and dance addresses inequities, the danger of instrumentalizing art, and how medical environments can be seen as places of art. Shilpa Darivemula is a resident physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Creative Director of the Aseemkala Initiative. Shilpa began training in Kuchipudi at the age of 8 at the Academy of Kuchipudi Dance and performed her solo debut recital—her Rangapravesham—in 2011 at the Kalanidhi Dance school. Born in a small village in West Bengal, Avijit moves to Chennai and eventually to Bengaluru for his passion towards dance. Despite many challenges Avijit navigates his way in mastering the art form from various gurus. He is the founder of KimAham School of Dance Avijit was initiated into Bharatanatyam at the age of five under the guidance of Smt. Sanaka Biswas of Shanti Niketan,West Bengal, India. He obtained his Diploma in Bharatanatyam from Kalakshetra (Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts), Chennai, India on a meritorious scholarship in 2011. He also developed keen interest in the Kuchipudi style of dance. After initial training in Kuchipudi Art Academy under legendary Guru Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam and renowned Kuchipudi exponent Smt. Manju Bharggavee, he is currently training under the guidance of Sri Jaikishore Mosalikanti .Avi also has a Diploma in Carnatic music. s an artist he has over 10 years of experience and has been invited to perform as a soloist at prestigious dance festivals across the globe including USA, Mexico, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Bhutan. Gitanjali Kolanad (Toronto) has been involved in the practice, performance, and teaching of bharatanatyam for close to forty years, performing in major cities in Europe, America and India with performances that uniquely incorporate folk and ritual forms of dance, theatre and martial art forms from South India. Her short story collection “Sleeping with Movie Stars” was published in January 2011 by Penguin India, and she has written numerous articles on aspects of Indian dance for well-known Indian publications, India Magazine, Sruti and The Arts House. In 2016 she was the Singapore International Writer in Residence National University of Singapore, and at Shiv Nadar University she was part of developing their performing arts program. A previous book of hers “Culture Shock: India” published by Marshall Cavendish, is now into its third edition, and has been translated into Korean. As a co-founder of IMPACT - Indian Martial and Performance Arts Collective of Toronto, she teaches the Indian martial art form of kalaripayat to at-risk youth. Her work has often been multi-disciplinary, arising out of collaborations with artists from other disciplines: director Phillip Zarrilli, video/installation artist Ray Langenbach, poet Judith Kroll, and violinist Parmela Attariwala, to name a few. In particular her long time collaboration with US theatre director Phillip Zarrilli, who was both a leading practitioner and scholar of Indian performance styles, led to innovative performances such as the solo dance piece “Walking Naked” which was an enigmatic performance piece which dealt with the life and poetry of the 12th century Karnataka poet-saint Mahadeviyakka. Mahadevi was a poet who was said to have run away from her arranged marriage in order to remain a devotee of Siva. Discovered "walking naked" by a community of Siva devotees, the story went that on her wedding night when her husband grabbed hold of her sari she kept walking, leaving it unwind as she walked. This unfathomable life of spiritual dedication met equally inspired staging and a long process of detailed investigation with Zarrilli that led to the use of three different puppets, each of which had a transformational journey enacted by Kolanad. Her most recent work "Girl Made of Gold" is a novel set as a murder mystery and taking place around the figure of a devadasi - the female dance artist who were dedicated to worship and serve a deity or a temple in a ceremony similar to a marriage one. Historically these women took care of the temple and performed the rituals dances from a practice of classical Indian artistic traditions such as Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi. Kolanad walks an unique line where she delicately balances the role of both the dancer, the danced and the dancing as she embodies the role of not only the dancer but of someone able to articulate her practice from a variety of perspectives. In this capacity she is in the process of writing a non fiction book about dance. Kamath's new book The Artifice of Brahmin Masculinity in South Indian Dance (University of California Press, 2019) features an investigation of men donning a women’s guises to impersonate female characters – most notably Satyabhāmā, the wife of the Hindu deity Krishna –within the insular Brahmin community of the Kuchipudi village in Telugu-speaking South India. Kamath broaches the practice of impersonation across various boundaries – village to urban, Brahmin to non-Brahmin, hegemonic to non-normative – to explore the artifice of Brahmin masculinity in contemporary South Indian dance. C. Pallavi Rao Narvekar hails from a family of journalists but chose to pursue her bachelor's degree in Geography. Her childhood love for radio got her to also pursue a full-fledged career as a Radio Jockey and also doing Voice Overs. Everything was going on well in her life when one day she was told she cannot speak. Imagine a Radio Jockey with no voice. She was diagnosed with cancer and she lost her voice post her Thymectomy surgery, one of her vocal cords got paralyzed. The doctor sealed her career and passion for the radio medium by telling her that it was irreversible and that she could never go back on the air again. However, C. Pallavi Rao Narvekar proved the doctor wrong, defied death twice and got back to doing what she loved. Apart from being a famous RJ of Delhi, she is also an accomplished Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer, a former NCC cadet, a painter, blogger and now an author. She actually wrote a book on love stories while being in the ICU for her treatment. When I Was 13 is a podcast that is also a time machine. In this episode, I talk with Madhu Naithani, a theatre activist and classical dancer, who can actually talk about 'Summer of '69' because she was 13 in 1969. In this very engaging conversation, Madhu talks about how she grew up in Chandigarh in the 1960s without any TV, and yet she was so busy with 'real friends' that she just had no free time! Madhu also started learning Kuchipudi dance at the age of 50, and believes that the one advice we should take to heart is to 'Love our own self'. 'I will ride cancer; cancer will not ride me'. An Indian dancer and a Jamaican athlete who were diagnosed with breast cancer at the peak of their physical condition tell Kim Chakanetsa how they got through their treatment by focussing on their passions. Novlene Williams-Mills is an exceptional Jamaican sprinter who has competed - and won medals - in four Olympic Games. In 2012, just before the London Olympics, she found out she had breast cancer. Despite the diagnosis, she decided to compete, and helped Jamaica bring home a bronze medal in the 400 metre relay. Four surgeries later, she is cancer-free. Throughout her treatment Novlene continued to run because when she's on the track, she says all her problems disappear. Ananda Shankar Jayant is an award-winning Indian dancer and choreographer, known for her talent in two classical dance forms Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She says as soon as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, she made a decision that she would not succumb to the 'bogeyman' of cancer, and would keep dancing, even through chemotherapy. By focussing on her what she loves to do, she says she was able to stay positive. Transitioning to a plant based diet for a healthy lifestyle. Karine was once an extreme carnivore and she happily ate sweetbreads, blood pudding, lots of meats including game, and all kinds of raw meats. Food was her life. She had a catering business and organized dinner parties that would have made a vegan faint. Life was spent in the kitchen, and life was good. Then she embarked on her vegan journey just over year ago to combat significant skin issues. She started by first eating fruits and vegetables in large quantities but she struggled from low energy levels. Then she tried a paleo diet which did not work out for her, so she started educating herself about plant-based protein. Education was the key to her success, and two pillars of veganism became important to her: mercy for animals, and protection of the environment. Grains, seeds, and nuts are now the biggest part of her diet while she is striving to achieve a complete plant-based diet. She loves whole and natural ingredients, and wants to show others how a vegan diet can be fun, easy, and delicious!
