What a season for the 2020-21 Los Angeles Clippers. In this episode, Trey talks about every Clipper who wore the uniform this season. A long winded episode but I hope you all enjoy!
The Clippers have won their first ever Conference Finals game. It came after losing the first 2 games in Phoenix, then coming home and winning Game 3. Paul George put up 27/15/8 on as tired legs as you'll ever see. He's really been digging deep and continues to be aggressive no matter how tired he gets. Big Zu had his best game of the playoffs so far, putting up 15 points and 16 rebounds. Chris Paul made his return to the Suns lineup after missing games 1 and 2 due to COVID protocols. He was not much of a factor tonight, posting 15 points on 5-19 shooting. No matter who switched onto him, including Zu, they did great at getting a good contest on his midrange jumpers. Devin Booker was more of the same. He has been put in prison by Patrick Beverley these last 2 games, shooting 5-21 tonight. The "Pat Bev Trick Y'all" crowd has been incredibly silent recently. A whole team effort tonight and they deserved the win. We're still down, but not out! Even the series up on Saturday and we got action!
Trey breaks down some key things in the upcoming series vs the Phoenix Suns, including some key matchups, smallball and more!
Once again, without Kawhi Leonard due to a right knee sprain, the Los Angeles Clippers still closed out the Utah Jazz to advance to their first ever Western Conference Finals. Not only did they do it without Kawhi, they did it at home, with the first sold out crowd since March 2020. What a special night for the franchise and their fans. After going down as much as 25 in the 3rd quarter, this team showed their will to keep fighting yet again. The Clippers cut a 25 point deficit to 3 in a matter of minutes. Clipper killer Mike Conley returned to the Jazz lineup in Game 6, but unfortunately was clearly not healthy. As was Donovan Mitchell, who still performed like the superstar he is. Terance Mann was the story tonight, though. This game will go down as the "Terance Mann Game," and rightfully so. 39 points on 15-22 shooting, including 7-10 from deep. So many narratives were put to bed today, most importantly the "Paul George doesn't perform in the playoffs" narrative. In 2 games without Kawhi, PG averaged 33-13-6 on 48/36/89 shooting splits to lead the Clippers to their first ever WCF.
The Los Angeles Clippers are on the verge to make franchise history...again. They could become the first team in NBA history to comeback from consecutive 0-2 series deficits. More importantly, the LA Clippers are 1 win away from the franchise's first ever Western Conference Finals appearance. All was going well until it was announced that Kawhi Leonard would not be playing in Game 5 due to a knee injury. It was all up to Paul George and the Canoes to bring it back home to LA up 3-2. And that is exactly what they did. PG had 37/16/5 on efficient shooting. Twin had 25 and Terance had 13, including a monster dunk over the DPOY. Reggie Jackson continued to bail the Clips out on multiple possessions with insane shot making. Everyone not named Rajon Rondo gave solid contributions tonight, and the Clippers look to close out the series at home in front of 19,000 fans at Staples for the first time since March 2020. Let's make history!
Here is my official Western Conference Semi-Finals Preview vs the Utah Jazz. In this pod, I break down whether or not I think the Clippers should continue to go small vs this Jazz squad, whether or not we should see Patrick Beverley in this series and more! Also, my official prediction for the series is included so make sure you stick around for that.
Your Los Angeles Clippers have won Game 7 and will advance to the Western Conference Semis and face the Utah Jazz. The series preview will be up on 6/7/21. The Clippers FINALLY had a hot shooting night from deep, going 20-43. Marcus Morris set his playoff career high 7 three pointers, shooting 7-9. Luke Kennard and Terance Mann both came in and played great roles in this Game 7. Luke shot 3-5 on threes and was massive. Onto the Jazz! Let's get it!
KAWHI LEONARD LEADS THE CLIPPERS TO AN ELIMINATION GAME WIN WITH 45 POINTS ON 25 SHOTS! Wow what a game this was. Stress levels at an all time high. The Clippers' defense all night had been spectacular. Paul George struggled to shoot the ball, but really had a great 4th quarter. Our role guys had a big of a rough go shooting tonight, with the bench only have 4 total points. Luke Kennard got his first meaningful minutes of the series tonight, going 1-4 in 1o minutes while also playing some good defense(!!). Overall, great game from our main guy and onto Staples for Game 7 baby!
The Clippers even up the series at 2 games apiece and head back home in a best of 3 series with momentum. On top of that, 2 of the 3 games are in Los Angeles close to Serge Ibaka's voodoo room. The Clippers went small to start the game, inserting Nicolas Batum for Ivica Zubac and it paid off. The Clippers lead for almost the entirety of the game and a large part of that was their defense and getting a bad Luka Doncic game. Series is even at 2-2 and we are heading home! I'll see y'all at Game 5!
Lets go! The Clippers' season was on the line tonight and they responded with a GINORMOUS win to keep their season alive. They win 118-108 and have the series now at 2-1 Dallas. There will be a Game 5 at Staples which I will be attending! Kawhi and Paul George have been so good in these first 3 games, doing exactly what you would expect your superstars to do. After Marcus Morris struggled in Games 1 and 2, he finally responded with some huge 3's down the stretch to keep the Clippers at a decent lead. Clippers get a huge win and will be back on Sunday for another huge game.
This is my official series preview vs Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks! I'm so excited for the rematch of this series and I can't wait for it to start on Saturday. Let's go!
For the final episode of the regular season, I have decided to go over the season and give each and every player a grade and recap their best moments from the season. This is a long one so I hope you guys enjoy! The Dallas series preview will be out within the next few days. Also, thank you all so much for listening to the podcast or interacting with me on Twitter. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!
Imma be honest, I couldn't come up with a punny title for tonight, so I used Serge's new song. Anyway, the Clippers start their final road trip of the season in Tampa to play the Raptors. With Toronto sitting damn near all of their good players, there was absolutely zero reason for the Clippers to lose this game. Bottom line is, these guys are in the NBA for a reason and can win on any given night. Serge Ibaka is finally traveling with the team again after hurting his back in what feels like a few years ago. The goal is to get him some pre-playoff reps but that is still in the air. Paul George struggled throughout the course of the game, but Kawhi is beginning to look more and more like himself as time goes on; being more aggressive and explosive. Big shoutout to Terance Mann for always staying ready when called on. 20 points for that mann! Overall not a dominant performance but the Clips got it done
Bring out the brooms. The Clippers head into their final matchup against the team from across the hall. In their 3 game series this season, the Clippers had 2 of the 3 home games. Unfortunately, we only had 1 game this season where all 4 stars played. That said, no LeBron tonight and AD left in the 1st quarter with bad spasms, so the Clippers had absolutely no reason to lose to this shorthanded Lakers squad. The Clips took care of business tonight, winning 118-94, sweeping the season series 3-0. Clippers move back into the 3 seed and are .5 games up on the Nuggets. The Lakers on the other hand are tied with Portland for the 6th seed.
The Clippers come into tonight off of a 3 game losing streak. They have a chance to snap it against the shorthanded Raptors. Some more great news surfaced Twitter a couple hours prior to tip off: Patrick Beverley would be returning to the lineup tonight and would come off the bench. He looked really good tonight, scoring 8 points in 15 minutes. It was great to see him back out there. Kawhi Leonard was back for the 2nd straight game, only taking 6 shots, but I'm not concerned about him. Paul George bounced back after having a rough go these past few games. Clippers snapped their 3 game losing streak and are back on Thursday against the LeBron-less Lakers.
The Clippers come into tonight on a 2 game losing streak. After losing the Phoenix to potentially take the 2 seed, the Clippers once again are playing their biggest game of the season. They win, they have strong possession of the 3 seed. Lose? Fall to 4th. Great news came 2 hours before tip. Kawhi Leonard was coming back. The Clippers came out the gate with the right energy. The ball was moving and they took an 11 point lead. Then everything went wrong..Clippers end up losing by 6 and fall to the 4 seed.
It's hard to beat a contender 3 times in a row..it almost feels impossible. The Clippers travel to Phoenix to end the 3 game roadie. This is the biggest game of the year so far, You win, the 2 seed is still in play. You lose, it's pretty much over. Coming into tonight, you knew that this game was going to be tough, but when the news hit that Kawhi was going to be out again, you knew this game was going to be something else. Paul George started off slow, but finished the game with 25/10. Reggie Jackson had one of his worst games of the season and Chris Paul's personal runs helped Phoenix pull away. Clippers have an absolute must win game at home on Saturday vs the Nuggets
Let's be honest, the Clippers were due for a stinker. It's unfortunate, but it just so happened to come on a night where the 2 need was very much in their reach. The 2 seed is definitely still in play, but the Clippers HAVE to win in Phoenix on Wednesday. A mix of bad Paul George and overall bad Clipper shooting is always a recipe for disaster. Clips shot 31% from deep tonight. Overall just a poor outing, but we back in PHX on Wednesday.
The Clippers are back on the road. They start out by playing against a horrendously bad Rockets team. John Wall is playing his first game against the Clippers in nearly 3 years and was great. Both of these teams must have really enjoyed halftime because neither side looked like they wanted to play in that 3rd quarter. Just one of the worst quarters I think I've ever seen. The numbers are just awful. Paul George, despite cold shooting, still came through in the clutch. Clips squeeze one out in H-Town 109-104.
The Clippers are elite, but you knew that already. With guys constantly being in and out of the lineup all season, having 6 key guys out tonight was not an issue for the deepest team in the league. You knew the Clips were going to need a complete team effort tonight to have a chance. And they responded. The Clippers storm their way back after being down 18 early in the game. 4 of the 5 starters scored 18+. The best team in basketball keeps getting better.
After hearing Kawhi Leonard is gonna sidelined for at least a week, the Clippers are gonna need Paul George to continue this streak of amazing basketball. And boy did he. Paul George came up big in the clutch to help the Clippers squeak by the Blazers 113-112. Despite poor officiating, the Clippers were still able to grind out this game.
Welcome back to STAPLES Center Clipper fans! The Clippers went to work against the Timberwolves, beating them 124-105. Kawhi Leonard returned to the lineup after missing the last 4 games and finished with a damn-near triple double. Paul George's 30 point streak came to an end tonight largely due to the fact that the Clippers did not need him (or any of the starters) in the 4th quarter.
REGGIE JACKSON PUTS THE DETROIT PISTONS TO BED. After what seemed to be a loss for the Clippers down 5 starters, the "next man up" mentality couldn't have been more apparent tonight. The Clippers offense struggled for the majority of the 2nd half, but then Reggie Jackson came up with some huge shots. Nico, Mann and the Brewmaster all had some clutch defensive plays that ultimately lead to the Clippers being victorious, 100-98.
The Clippers beat the Pacers 126-115 on PG's 36 point night. Ty Lue's offense continues to shine as the Clippers continue to get any look they want. Nicolas Swatum records 5 blocks (first time he's done it since 2012.) After a legit game of runs, the Clips pulled away in the 4th and the Pacers didn't respond.
I know Paul George haters are sick right now. Back to back to back 30 balls for PG13. Trey recaps the Clippers comeback victory vs the Jerami Grant-less Pistons. Despite being down big early, Paul George and the Clippers continued to scorch the nets. The Pistons made some insane shots (a lot of bad ones) but the Clippers came out on top.
Reggie Jackson and the Clippers skip their way to victory over the Rockets 126-109. The Clippers start this game out flat, like a team that is coming off of a first night of a back to back. Klaw continues to try and poster everyone in sight and Rec Specs Reggie shows that he isn't human. Terance Mann is now hitting step-back 3's and the Frenchman continues to be one of the best vet minimum signings of all time.
Paul George shot the crap out of the ball for the second straight game. We got a glimpse of Playoff Rondo and after a very poor first half, Kawhi Leonard destroys Deandre Ayton and has an overall better 2nd half. Trey breaks down the Clippers 113-103 victory over the Suns.
