It's always nice having a friend join me on the podcast. When that friend has just won World Landscape Photographer 2021, its even better. Absolutely delighted to have my great pal Felix Sproll on the podcast. Felix is easily one of the most dedicated photographers I know so when I found out he had won this amazing competition I couldn't have been happier. Felix is quick witted with a great sense of humour so I won't give too much away here, tune in to find out all about him as a person and his award winning shot from Doolin on the West Coast of Ireland. Listeners will also have the chance to win a framed print of the award winning shot from Felix, check out the shot here. World Landscape Photographer competition was set up by Nigel Danson, himself a great photographer who set up the competition during Covid 19 in 2020. He set it up with the aim of raising as much money as possible for charities, this year the proceeds went to WWF, which I think was over 14,000 pound sterling Please rate review & subscribe | Follow us on Instagram @bgphotopod | Join our private Facebook group bglandscapetours | Join our private Photography Feedback Facebook group here Photo Workshops & Tours at www.bglandscapetours.ie
I am delighted to welcome Murray Wilkie to the Podcast. Murray is known throughout YouTube as being the man behind the channel, Scotland's Mountains. His love and enthusiasm for the outdoors and in particular the mountains comes across in each and every video he does. Murray doesn't describe himself as a photographer, but as a landscape photographer myself, I find great inspiration in watching Murray hiking throughout the Scottish Highlands, showing off some of the finest views in Scotland. For any budding outdoor enthusiast, watching Murray's channel on YouTube is an absolute must. He may love the mountains, but he loves a good chat so as Murray himself would say, I'll stop talking now and crack on! Enjoy this one Folks. Last week I was on the receiving end of one of the biggest acts of kindness I've ever had when a good friend and loyal client Folarin Alakija (Flo) called me to say he was gifting me a new Sony A7siii... I was shocked, my throat went dry and I was speechless (even though I was still able to chat shite). If you listen to this Podcast regularly you will know I do love a good chat. I'll say no more, I don't want to ruin the Podcast by giving away too much Information but this is a special podcast, like no other I've done before but one lucky listener has a chance to win a €500 voucher for Bernard Geraghty Landscape Tours, all in aid of a very special charity to Flo and his wife Naza. Be sure to tune in to hear the full story from start to finish and learn how you can do your bit to help Nazas Appeal for Yemen with Unicef while being in with a chance to win the €500 voucher. Keith Malone, a wedding videographer and a good friend. Keith had already been to The Dolomites and the Isle of Skye with me, now was the turn of the Lofoten Islands. Today the 10th of March 2021, is exactly one year since my last international workshop on the Lofoten Islands, which Keith documented. I am delighted to welcome back Rachael Talibart to the podcast, this time to talk about her brand new book "Tides and Tempests". Tempest meaning: A violent windy storm and an excited person, Rachael. I was lucky to get my hands on a special edition copy of the book and had a flick through some of the images as Rachael told me in detail about how they came to light. The book is extraordinary, well presented and so easy to follow. Rachael's work needs no introduction so I will say no more. Ozzy in New Zealand... William Patino needs no introduction, a landscape photographer based in New Zealand. The crazy thing about him and his work is the fact he doesn't use a tripod or filters!! CRAZY. I had no real desire to shoot in NZ but his images and dedication for getting shots around remote parts of Fjordland has really whet my appetite to get there in the near future. Will also gives some useful tips for anyone who does landscape photography, tells me the one photographer who inspires him and shares with me a story full of passion, enthusiasm and emotion about a thunderstorm he photographed back home in Australia. I couldn't be happier to have 19 year old Landscape Astro Photographer, Jakob Sahner on this episode of The Bernard Geraghty Photography Podcast. Jakob is a photographer I came across on Ep.1 of this podcast when I had Alyn Wallace on as my very first guest. I asked Alyn if there was one Instagram account people should follow... without hesitation he says "Jakob Sahner". Forward a few weeks later to Ep.5 with Adrien Mauduit and I ask him the same question, if there was one Instagram account people should follow... again same result, Jakob Sahner, he says. That was enough for me to know this guy was going to be good without even seeing his stuff, I did see his stuff and it confirmed everything the lads had said. This is a good one folks, sit back, relax and enjoy Please rate review & subscribe | Follow us on Instagram @bgphotopod | Join our private Facebook group bglandscapetours. I am delighted to have the one and only Mads Peter Iversen join me on this episode. Mads is a person I have followed for a long time now, first coming across his work on YouTube. His enthusiasm is contagious, when you look at his videos you can feel the emotion. Thankfully he's just as great to listen to as he is to watch. In this episode he tells us about how Covid has helped transition his photography from the big vistas in places like Iceland and the Faroe Islands to some more intimate and minimal scenes in his home country, Denmark. Mads also talks about his new tutorial pack, he even has a 15% discount code for it! Is it a woodland photographer? Is it a landscape photographer? Is it a landscape Woodland photographer? NO, Its renowned Tree Photographer Simon Baxter. Last week I had the chance to sit back and have a virtual cuppa and photography chat with Simon Baxter, in my opinion Simons work is up there with the best in the world. His attention to detail is sublime, his patience to scout locations time and again for this perfect conditions. We talk about many of his images and experiences in detail. The best thing about talking about photography to a stranger is that within minutes, you feel as though you've known them for ages. I sat down this week and talked with my good pal and Canon EOS R shooter Keith Arkins to talk about my experience shooting with Canons latest beast the R5. Canon Ireland were good enough to let me have the R5 with some amazing RF lenses, the 15-35, 24-70 and the 70-200. I had the gear for 5 days, shooting in Wicklow for a day and Connemara for 4 days with plenty of different scenes to test its weather sealing and most of all dynamic range! In this episode I'm having a chat with good friends, Darren J Spoonley and Diarmuid O Donovan, the hosts of The Irish Photography Podcast. I spent plenty of episodes being asked the questions with the lads on the IPP, this time it was my turn to ask the questions. As well as being good pals, Darren is arguably Ireland's most consistent vlogger, while DOD dips in and out of the vlogs, mixing them with time-lapse and great energy. I'm also going to test a new camera and some lenses out for the next week or so... and its not a Sony! So, there's a new low light beast in town... The Sony a7siii Given the nature of their work and the fact they already shoot with the Sony a7s and A7sii I was delighted to have Adrien and Alyn on the @bgphotopod again talking to me about the newly announced a7siii. For anyone on the fence about this camera there's probably not two better guys placed than these to give an opinion on it especially if your into astro photography, night time vlogging or time-lapsing the night sky The lads will also be answering your questions and I find out if they will or already have pre ordered this new camera... Will the fact its only 12mp be a deciding factor? I was super excited when Jenifer agreed to come onto the podcast. Jenifer is a renowned, UK based photographer and personally one of my favourite seascape photographers. On this episode she talks us through how photography has been around her from a very young age, helping her dad who himself was a photographer. What impresses me most about Jenifers work is that she currently doesn't even live by the sea! Her ability to capture light, mood and motion is spectacular and just from hearing her speak I have no doubt she will inspire others to get out and shoot some dramatic seascapes.
