On today's episode of the Run-Through podcast, presented by Prada, Chloe sat down with the two co-creative directors of Prada: Mrs. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons in their first ever joint podcast interview. They covered everything from the Prada show earlier this week that prominently featured skirts to their respective design philosophies, favorite soups, and everything in between.  They started with the latest collection which debuted hours before Vogue World Milano. Mrs. Prada spoke about the parallels between t-shirts and skirts in the sense that “usually in a T-shirt you put your ideas” but you are less constrained with the skirt being further from the face.  Then, they went back to the beginning. "I became a fashion designer because I didn't find anything to wear,” Mrs. Prada explained sincerely, “I don't dedicate a lot of time to dressing.” She dresses swiftly and usually wears skirts. Simons countered that by stating that while that might technically be true, "It never looks like a fast decision to me. It always looks very sophisticated."  Already, the Prada of Mrs. Prada and Simons has left an indelible mark but their legacy is still in the making. In reflection, Mrs. Prada commented that “if I have to say what my contribution was to fashion, it was reality. Fashion is only about glamour and beauty and actually life is so much the opposite.” Reality is a grounding principle in this moment of societal upheaval with politics and artificial intelligence throwing so much into turmoil. When asked about what she makes of the present fascination with vintage and style of the previous decades, she had some wisdom. “ I think that in this moment people are very interested in the past because the present and the future are so scary. No one is able to envision a future.  People are scared and want to be bound to something, otherwise you are lost. It's an instinct of survival, probably.” Mrs. Prada has long had an affinity for the word useful. She sees it as her obligation to make useful clothing and to design with utility at the forefront. “At the end of the day, I work for a commercial company that has to sell, so I am not an artist. In our field, you have to try to be useful and creativity for the sake of creativity if it's useless is really not good.” Towards the end of their conversation, Chloe asked Mrs. Prada if she was familiar with the concept of a meme. “Anything you people ask me now, I have no idea” was her response. But Chloe proceeded to explain to her the recently circulating meme of her skeptical facial expression reacting to the robots at Vogue World. “You were a hero!” Chloe exclaimed. Vanuit het pedagogisch eigene van de school gedacht wil ze de school beschermen om haar eigen opdracht vorm te geven, namelijk kinderen in de wereld in te wijden als kritische burgers. Zij volgt hierin het denken van Maarten Simons en Jan Masschelein over de school en dat van Hannah Arendt over de school als een tussenruimte tussen gezin en samenleving. Vanuit de idee van een rechtvaardige samenleving vindt ze ten tweede dat de school alle kinderen evenveel kansen moet bieden.In haar boek verkent Anouk de verhouding tussen school en samenleving vanuit de begrippen privaat en publiek. Eerst onderzoekt ze argumenten voor de invloed van de markt op de school, maar de filosoof John Rawls leert haar dat teveel invloed van het private op de school leidt tot kansenongelijkheid. De markt zal zich richten op maximale winst bij bepaalde leerlingen. Daarna verkent ze met de filosoof Michael Sandel of de school dan een publieke ruimte is. Simons en Masschelein leren haar echter dat de school wel een publieke zaak, maar geen publieke ruimte is. Tot slot onderzoekt ze de invloed vanuit maatschappelijke ideologieën op de school, zoals van kritische pedagogen. Maar daarmee willen ook zij de school net als de markt instrumentaliseren. Four years he reigned supreme at 115 pounds in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and all four years was chosen the NAIA's finest, an unparalleled achievement. Three times he won the University Division title in the NCAA and as a junior and senior was voted the outstanding competitor. The only two defeats of his 93 collegiate matches came early in his freshman season. He then proceeded to win 84 in a row. In the two years after his graduation, while stationed at the U.S. Military Academy, he continued to annex national championships in military, YMCA and AAU competition. He won the gold medal in the 1963 World Military Games. Gray Simons twice represented his country in the Olympic Games, in 1960 and 1964. On the mat, he was known as a superb technician, with quickness, skill and perfect execution of an infinite variety of moves. His abilities helped spread nationwide the "Granby Series" of moves developed by his Hall of Fame high school coach in Norfolk, Virginia, Billy Martin. After the close of his competitive career, he served with distinction as a collegiate coach at Lock Haven, Indiana State, Tennessee and Old Dominion University, and never has suffered a losing season. Among his proteges were two NCAA champions and several All-Americans. In both roles, as a wrestler and coach, this quiet man has set an outstanding example for young athletes everywhere. As a wrestler of unchallenged achievement and a sportsman of the highest caliber, Elliot Gray Simons is honored as a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Den logiska slutsatsen blir att videomaterialet måste ha skapats likt en Hollywoodfilm i en studio i förväg för att sedan kablas ut som LIVE över hela världen.  I verkligheten måste man såklart också ha sprängt tornen då de inte stod kvar efter den aktuella dagen men detta måste ha gjorts bakom en rökridå samt totalt utrymda på människor. A musician can monetize their music five different ways. Through publishing, through licensing, through live events, and ancillary revenue can be merchandised through the image of the artist and brand partnerships, of course. And there's also the element of music writing and being a producer, right? So learn how your art can be monetized. In this episode of the Epigenetics Podcast, we talked with Steffen Rulands from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich about how methods from statistical physics can be used to study collective phenomena in biology. We discuss his path from physics into stem cell biology and epigenetics, and how this background shapes the questions he asks in his work. We talk about his lab's focus on quantitative and mechanistic modeling rather than wet lab experiments. He explains that he uses single-cell genomics and other datasets to understand how cells make decisions, with interests ranging from development and regeneration to aging and rejuvenation. A major topic is DNA methylation during embryonic development. We discuss how he and his collaborators found surprisingly simple, self-similar patterns in methylation over time and along the genome, and how they explained these patterns with a feedback loop between chromatin conformation and methylation deposition. We also cover his collaboration on social insect colonies, where he examines how DNA methylation and gene regulation help explain stable social roles and flexibility when the queen is removed. In that system, interactions across the whole nest shape the regulation of queen- and worker-associated genes. Later in the conversation, we turn to aging. We discuss his recent work on temporal hierarchies in epigenetic aging and on collective dynamics of DNA methylation, where we ask how molecular-scale events can combine to produce the long timescale of organismal aging. We close by talking about rejuvenation, general principles in aging, and the role of physics in identifying what is generic versus what is specifically regulated in biology. This week we're recasting Preston's conversation with Dr. Anna Simons from May 2023. Anna retired as a Professor of Defense Analysis at the Naval Postgraduate School. She holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from Harvard University and an A.B. from Harvard College. She is the author of Networks of Dissolution: Somalia Undone and The Company They Keep: Life Inside the U.S. Army Special Forces. She is also the co-author of The Sovereignty Solution: A Commonsense Approach to Global Security. Her fieldwork began in Somalia in the late 1980s, embedded with a Special Forces mobile training team, years before most Americans had heard of the country. This work marked the start of a career devoted to studying the ties that bind operators together and the forces that pull them apart.Preston and Anna range widely: why assessment and selection should simulate the actual conditions operators will face rather than test for a generic standard; "warrior" branding and tribal emblems, and what it signals when a unit needs more mystique than its mission alone provides; the difference between interchangeability and neurodiversity, and why teams need both depending on whether the problem in front of them is technical or adaptive; and the concept of communitas.Asked what advice she'd give the people responsible for assessing, selecting, and educating MCTs today, Anna recommends holding people to high standards and communicating your expectations.
