Today we are using an Epictetus quote to talk about control. Control is an elusive and fickle thing because the more control we believe we have over our things and situation in life, often means the less control we have. All we can really control are our actions. Somethings we cannot even fully control our thoughts. Look no further to that annoying song many of us get stuck in our heads. The more we try to be in control, the more we open ourselves to disappointment. So today I challenge you to not get caught up trying to be in control, just enjoy the day and focus on your actions and reactions. Today we are using a quote to talk about human inner connection. Yes every man may be an island, however, that is not the whole story. At the root of it, runs a connection we all have. We all go through similar human experiences, we all feel pain, love, loss, happiness, and sadness. It is through these emotions that we are all connected because we can sympathize, empathize and understand one another. It when we realized this that we can truly feel connected even though we are our own separate entities. Today we are using an Instagram post from last year, to help us shift our mindset and understand that we are all broken. From our broken places we can grow and become better versions of ourselves. If you are going through a break right now, it may seem like it is impossible to overcome, but you can to it! Yes, you may be going through a difficult situation, maybe you feel like it cannot change, however I am here to tell you that it will and it can. The important thing is to allow a shift in mindset to see this difficulty as a challenge to help you get better. You do not have to deal with this change alone, you can reach out the those around you that you feel like you can trust and talk to them. Heck, this is part of the reason I offer coaching. So that I can help be the support you may need, but I can only help you if you tell me whats going on. The same goes for those who are close to you. If you want help, you need to ask for it. Today we are talking about the idea of something being impossible. To which I offer the question: if given the right mindset, can we overcome the obstacles in our way? After all, look at Roger Bannister, before him, we thought it was an impossibility to run a 4-minute mile. Or when we the cold war sparked the space race. Before then getting to the Moon seemed impossible, now scientists are looking at manned missions to Mars. With that said, is anything truly impossible? No, because YOU are possible. While we went to stay true to ourselves , and not compromise our integrity, that does not mean that you will never be in the wrong. Yes you want to stay true to yourself so you do not tilt and windmills. However if you remain obstinate in the face of everyone pushing back, you may be the one in the wrong. Having confidence does not mean that you have to be cocky. Nor is confidence innate, instead it is something you can build, and even get better. Sometimes it can be a difficult skill to acquire, however, if you have a strong Why to anchor to, it becomes easier to build up your confidence. Today, we talk about conquering the world... Well maybe not, when I say, conquering the world, I mean your biggest goal. Before we can focus on conquering the world, we need to first conquer ourselves. In order to do this, you need to look inside ourselves, to understand our Why for doing things, then understand a little bit more about the goal in mind. The beauty of life is that there are ups, downs, valleys, and peaks. At each stage in our life, we have different expectations for us. I have said this before and I'll say it again, life is a journey, it's an adventure, it's something that is ever changing. This metaphor (well technically simile) that life is like a mountain, is so very true. Take the time to think about it, where you on your mountain today? Are you at the peak, the valley, or somewhere in between? There's no value judgment associated with where you are. Just think about where you are, assess and move forward, that's all we can do. Today we're talking about the importance of having both rules and structure, as well as freedom from those rules. In some parts in our lives, we will need very hard-and-fast rules, however, in other cases, we need the freedom to make decisions that are not dependant upon those rules. As we change and grow those hard-and-fast rules may change with us bringing in other ones, and it's important to be flexible when we can. Just like water, some days we may be hard as ice, and other days we may need to flow through a river bed. The action needed in each situation will change with the seasons. Today we're talking about cultivating happiness. Not just from experiences or from our possessions but from a mindset shift. This mindset shift helps us obtain long-lasting happiness with life, regardless of what hand we are dealt with. Happiness is not about getting everything we want, when we want it. Today we are focusing on communication. Many of us have heard the old adage, "it's not about what you say, but how you say it." Today we take that idea to its logical conclusion to encompass not only how others actions matter, but our actions to ourselves matter just as much. Often time when we try and live up to what we say, we do not include how and what we promise to ourselves. We focus on doing for others at the sake if doing for ourselves. I would argue that this is a huge oversight. What are your thoughts on the matter? If want wanting a way to make a health change stick, then check out my 31-Day Primal Challenge. Today we talk about strength. We talk about what it is, and what it is not. Strength is not having everything go your way. Strength comes from pushing through pain and obstacles to obtain your goals regardless of life's setbacks. Disappointment will occur, the pain will happen, we may cry and feel strong emotions. However, those emotions are not insurmountable. Feel the emotion, let it wash over you like a stone in a river. Once you have taken the time to feel, use that emotion to fuel your further growth and efforts for positive change in your life. Are you struggling to make a meaningful health change in your life? If you are, that is okay, we all struggle. It's important to note that struggling is not a prerequisite to failure. As we struggle, we must push past that point. When we do, we come out the other side stronger and more resilient than before. The way we build a healthy lifestyle is first with a strong foundation. Once we build a strong foundation, we can build our healthy lifestyle one good habit brick at a time. Today we take a quote quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger to help us think about growing from failures. We grow most when we are forced to keep on trucking when the odds are stacked against us. Or when our plans need to change to address the new changes that have taken place. Life is about adapting to the constant changing pressure we are put under to become the best version of ourselves.
