Winemaker Justin Ennis crafts Freestone wines with a deep attention to detail, capturing the distinct character of each vineyard while balancing the vibrancy of the terroir with a refined, elegant structure. Now, that deep-rooted vision comes to market, as Justin and the winery introduce these vineyard-driven wines to a broader audience for the first time. “Everything begins in the vineyard. Through hands-on farming and careful attention, we work to bring in fruit that’s expressive and healthy. In the cellar, I practice minimal intervention winemaking so that the site, the varietal, the clone, and the vintage can speak for themselves,” said Ennis. “The wine is already in the vineyard; my job is simply not to get in its way.” In the 1990s, Joseph Phelps and his son Bill set out to find a place in California’s wine country where they could produce superlative Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The search led him to a place no one suspected – a tiny, unincorporated town called Freestone, tucked away off a quiet highway heading toward the Sonoma Coast. Joe’s peers and friends deemed it too cold, too rugged, too remote for serious winemaking. Starting May 1, these limited production wines became available in select restaurants and fine wine retailers across the U.S. freestonevineyards.com @freestonevineyards @norcal_wino

Shoot us a Text.Episode #1335: Inventory tightens as hybrids fly off lots, Hertz leans into retail with an eBay storefront, and Delta redraws the snack map—cutting service on shorter flights while upgrading longer ones.Show Notes with links:New-vehicle inventory tightened heading into May, with hybrid demand doing its best “hot ticket on the lot” impression. Catalyst IQ says overall supply dipped month over month, while hybrids and EVs hit record demand and supplies of those models shrank.U.S. light-vehicle inventory fell to 2.85 million, down 2.7% from April but still up 1.2% year over year.Industrywide days' supply dropped to 76 days, down from 80 in April.Hybrids are moving fastest, averaging 59 days on lots, compared with 75 for gas vehicles and 114 for EVs.Small and midsize sedans remain tightest by segment, while half-ton pickups have thinned, partly due to F-150 shortages tied to the Novelis fire.Toyota Motor North America's reported days' supply stayed flat month over month.Hertz Car Sales is doubling down on retail, expanding its reach with a new digital storefront on eBay as it shifts away from wholesale channels. The move puts its near-new inventory in front of millions of online shoppers.Hertz Car Sales launched an eBay storefront with 8,000+ certified vehicles available nationwide. The initiative is part of its strategy to make retail its primary sales channel, rather than wholesale.Vehicles are typically one year old or newer, priced below new, and sourced from its rental fleet. The company continues building an omnichannel approach across its site, Amazon Autos, and Rent2Buy.“It gives us access to millions of in-market shoppers… and supports a scalable retail model,” said EVP Chris Berg.Delta is trimming its onboard snack game, tightening service on shorter flights while boosting it on longer ones. Starting May 19, the airline will shift to a distance-based approach that could mean fewer Biscoff cookies—or more, depending on your route.Complimentary snacks and drinks will only be served on flights over 350 miles for Main and Comfort passengers.Over 450 shorter flights (under 349 miles) will lose current express service offerings. Some mid-range flights actually get an upgrade, moving from limited to full service.Delta says the change is about creating a “more consistent experience” across its network.First-class service remains unchanged across all flight lengths.Join Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

What could happen if a renewable energy project fails to meet new NERC compliance requirements? In some cases, penalties can reach up to $1 million per day per violation. In this special episode of Navigating the Grid, we're sharing a conversation originally recorded for the Clean Energy Edge Podcast, where Kellie Macpherson, EVP of Compliance & Security at Radian Generation, joined host Russ Bates to discuss the evolving compliance landscape for renewable energy.Starting May 1, 2026, inverter-based resources (IBRs) rated 20 MW or greater and connected at 60 kV or higher must register under updated North American Electric Reliability Corporation Category 2 requirements. The compliance threshold is dropping from 75 MW to 20 MW, dramatically expanding federal oversight across solar, wind, and battery storage projects. In this episode, Kellie breaks down what the rule change means, which projects will be affected, and why compliance now extends beyond paperwork to include operational readiness, cybersecurity monitoring, and audit preparedness. As renewables take on a larger role in grid reliability, understanding these requirements is becoming essential for operators, developers, and investors alike.
Ready or not, a new B Corp era has begun. Former B Lab standards analyst Jeffrey Stewart joins us to unpack what Version 2 means in practice. If your company is preparing for recertification or trying to understand how European regulation and third-party auditors are reshaping the movement, this conversation provides expert insight.View the show notes: https://go.lifteconomy.com/blog/ready-or-not-a-new-b-corp-era-begins-w/-jeffrey-stewart___ We've talked about walking the talk. Starting May 1, 2026, China will eliminate tariffs on all imports from the 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, a move expected to accelerate industrialization and economic development across the continent. The policy comes as China enters its 15th Five-Year Plan cycle, a period set to emphasize high-quality growth, stronger domestic demand, and a deeper level of opening-up. What impact will this comprehensive zero-tariff arrangement have on African economies and on broader global trade dynamics?

Shoot us a Text.Episode #1039: Today we're talking about Carvana's record-setting quarter and bold new goal, Ford's strategic price hikes post-tariffs, and why Google's stock took a beating after an Apple exec dropped a courtroom AI bomb.Show Notes with links:Carvana has bounced back in a major way, setting a new quarterly record for used-vehicle sales and showcasing the company's transformation from high-growth chaos to sustainable profitability, even amid looming tariff concerns.Q1 retail sales hit 133,898 units, up 46% year over year—beating their prior record by 16,000 vehicles.Net income reached $373M; revenue surged 38% to $4.2B.Tariffs caused a temporary demand bump, but Carvana is now focused on adapting inventory to price-sensitive consumer behavior.Carvana aims to sell 3 million vehicles annually within 5–10 years, targeting a 13.5% adjusted EBITDA margin by fully utilizing its existing infrastructure like ADESA megasites and inspection centers.CEO Ernie Garcia emphasized flexibility: “We've got significant margin to work with… and significant cash balances.”As the auto industry adjusts to newly announced tariffs, Ford is selectively increasing prices on several 2025 models while shielding current dealer inventory.Starting May 2, 2025 Mavericks, Bronco Sports, and Mach-Es (all produced in Mexico) will see MSRP increases of $600–$2,000, depending on trim and features.Existing stock and vehicles already in transit will keep their original sticker prices.Earlier this week, Ford withdrew its 2025 outlook, citing $1.5B in expected tariff-related earnings impact.Ford is one of the first major automakers to publicly respond to the impact of the tariffs with pricing strategy.“We can't forecast what we can't see,” said one executive privatelyIn a courtroom twist, an Apple executive may have confirmed Google's worst fear—that AI is starting to eat into its search dominance.Eddy Cue, Apple's services chief, testified that Safari searches dipped in April for the first time ever, likely due to users turning to AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.Cue expects Apple will eventually add AI search engines as user-selectable options in Safari. The revelation came during Google's antitrust trial, where Apple disclosed it receives over $20B annually to keep Google the default.Google stock fell more than 7% following Cue's testimony, wiping out tens of billions in market cap. They responded by saying “we continue to see overall query growth,” especially from Apple platforms.Join Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

Starting May 7, you will have to have a REAL ID to board a U.S. domestic flight. But so much has changed in the 20 years since Real ID was first proposed, is REAL ID 20 years out-of-date?
On Thursday, a shake-up in the President's cabinet: after it was announced that Mike Waltz would no longer serve as Trump's National Security Advisor, the President announced he would tap Waltz as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Now, Secretary of State Rubio will reportedly take up the role of interim NSA to the President, as many speculate the decision to relieve Waltz and several NSC staffers stems from the Signal group chat leak weeks ago. FOX News Sunday anchor Shannon Bream joins the Rundown to discuss the Waltz news and breaks down several different Supreme Court cases. The REAL ID Act was enacted in 2005, several years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, after it was discovered that the hijackers used California IDs to board the planes. Now, nearly two decades later, the deadline to obtain a REAL ID is approaching. Starting May 7, Americans will need a REAL ID (or a passport) to fly domestically or enter government buildings. As the deadline draws nearer, many people are left feeling confused and unprepared for this new requirement. We are less than a month away from the Real ID deadline. Starting May 7, you will need a special driver's license to board a plane, even if you are flying domestically. According to the Department of Vehicle Services, 60 percent of Minnesotans do not have a Real ID. And many are now rushing to the DMV. Several counties in the Twin Cities are reporting 3-4 hour waits. Getting a Real ID is a bit of a more complicated process than getting a driver's license. Minnesota Now host Nina Moini talked to Jody-Kay Peterson, the program director of driver services at Minnesota's Department of Public Safety, to answer your questions.
Rhode Island's multi-platinum John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band, will be celebrating 50+ years in the business with the release of "Sound of Waves," a new 13 song album, their first in 37 years. In 1982, John Cafferty was commissioned to write and perform the soundtrack for a film that turned out to be "Eddie and the Cruisers,' a rock cult classic with a triple platinum soundtrack. Cafferty's soulful, raspy voice propelled the movie's theme "On the Dark Side" to # 1 on the Billboard Rock charts and the MTV video charts, while the movie's second hit "Tender Years" rose into the Top 10 of the Billboard AC charts. Today John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band continue to tour around the world. That tour will bring them to NYC for an album release concert at the Cutting Room on Thursday, April 10th, the same date as the album release, from Moonstone Music. According to Cafferty, the new album almost didn't happen. After almost four decades of not writing and recording new music, he was encouraged by Bruce Springsteen to do it again. Over the years, Cafferty and company have jammed on stage with many of the greats of rock and roll, including Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Dion, and opened on tour with the Beach Boys, Foreigner, and Bryan Adams. Starting May 28th, Cafferty joins Rick Springfield on his "I Want My 80s Tour" for selected dates, along with John Waite and Wang Chung."The 'Sound of Waves' album is a celebration of a lifetime legacy as musicians and 50+ years as a band. The songs are newly written with a respectful reflection of colors from an era of music's diverse history and the precious life moments and loving relationships that have served as our hearts' inspiration," said Cafferty. The title track from the group's 1985 album, "Tough All Over" became their second # 1 on the Billboard Rock Charts and the song "C-I-T-Y" reached the Billboard Top 20. Over the years, John has placed 35 songs in major motion pictures. They included Sylvester Stallone's "Rocky "IV," and "Cobra." The Farrelly Brothers hit films "There's Something About Mary" and "Dumb and Dumber Too," & Eddie and the Cruisers I and II. The lead single from the group's upcoming album is "Day In the Sun," which was spotlighted in Peter Farrelly's film "Rick Stanicky." Here's a video link of a live performance: Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1xHCR8BDus All songs on the new release were written by Cafferty. The Rhode Island rockers put out their first "Greatest Hits" album in 2022 on Iconoclassic Records. In addition to band founder Cafferty, two original members remain in the group. They are guitarist Gary Gramolini and saxophonist Michael "Tunes" Antunes. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
Here are 3 big things you need to know— One — Ford Motor Company has announced that it would allow car shoppers to buy its 2024-25 vehicles at the discounted price the automaker offers to its employees. Called "From America, For America," the promotion was unveiled on the same day a new 25% U.S. tariff on foreign vehicles took effect. Two ---- Former heart surgeon and TV star Dr. Mehmet Oz was confirmed Thursday to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The 64-year-old will manage health insurance programs for roughly half the country, with oversight of Medicare, Medicaid or Affordable Care Act coverage. And number three — The TSA's deadline to have a REAL ID license is just over a month away. Starting May 7th, Americans will need to have a REAL-ID compliant driver's license to take domestic and international flights. If you don't have one, you'll need a passport or secondary ID to travel through security checkpoints. Unless, of course, they postpone this deadline yet again.
