What is your practice of systems thinking?...Today, Abbie and Gerald explore the ongoing practice of defining and redefining systems; the relationship between boundaries and meaning-making; the impact of moral forces on naming the 'sacred' and 'profane;' the inter-relational complexity that goes beyond otherness and belonging: the twin myths of non-intervention and non-communication; the connection between reason and emotion; and the emergent nature of systems. ...Gerald Midgley is an Emeritus Professor of Systems Thinking in the Centre for Systems Studies, University of Hull, UK. He also holds visiting professorships at the University of Birmingham (UK), the Australian National University and Linnaeus University (Sweden). He has held research leadership roles in both UK academia and New Zealand government, and has undertaken a wide variety of public policy, public health, natural resource management, community development and technology foresight projects. Gerald was the 2013/14 President of the International Society for the Systems Sciences. Blades ’68 is an official 450-page expansion for the TTRPG Blades in the Dark. This supplement advances the timeline 100 years to the “Swinging Sixties” in the city of Doskvol, an age of electroplasmic fusion and “Bluetime” spy games. The expansion introduces new playbooks, crews, and a revamped setting, alongside new rules for Harm, Resistance, Keys, Deadlocks, and an adapted Trouble Engine. The campaign has been overwhelmingly funded, with an expected delivery date of August 2026. Paizo, the publisher of Pathfinder, announced the new Pathfinder Beginner Box: Secrets of the Unlit Star, an all-inclusive entry point to Pathfinder Second Edition set for release on May 6th, 2026. The box set features a solo adventure, a 72-page Hero’s Handbook, an 88-page Game Master’s Guide, and updated rules for character options and adventure scenarios. Additionally, Paizo confirmed its commitment to the Pathfinder 2E Remaster with the release of Dark Archive Remastered and the announcement of Season of Ghosts Remastered. The company also partnered with One Page Rules to launch Paizo Printables, a new line of 3D printable wargaming miniature STLs compatible with the Age of Fantasy system, starting in Spring 2026. Maestro Media unveiled Avatar: Pandora's Power, a two-player asymmetric lane-battling card game based on the Avatar films. The game pits the resource-extractive RDA against the adaptive, land-rooted Na'vi factions, with the goal of reaching 30 points to decide Pandora’s fate. CEO Javon Frazier emphasized that the core experience is the asymmetry, with each faction playing a distinctly different game. Designed for ages 12 and up, the game plays in approximately 20-45 minutes and includes 170 Faction Cards, 18 Location Cards, and various tokens. Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks touted the company’s AI integration as a “clear success” during a recent earnings call, though he primarily referred to its deployment in non-creative, operational workflows such as financial planning, supply chains, and general productivity. Cocks stated that AI, in partnership with platforms like Google Gemini and OpenAI, is expected to free up over 1 million hours of lower-value work within the year. While he maintains a “human-centric creator-led approach,” Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has an explicit policy prohibiting its artists and writers from using generative AI for final D&D products, a stance that aligns with a user survey indicating over 60% of consumers would not buy D&D products made with AI. #blades68 #pathfinder #paizo #hasbro Blades ‘68 on Backerkit: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/evil-hat/blades-68 40-page Preview on DTRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/ja/product/553040/blades-68-preview?affiliate_id=2081746 Empire of Bones on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thepaintedwastelands/empire-of-bones Preview: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/554430?affiliate_id=2081746 Call of Cthulhu Bundle: https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/Xmz13G Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit stayorgo.substack.comEpisode 94: In this episode, I start by inviting us to slow down together. I recorded this on February 8, 2026, and I could feel how loud life has been lately. Instead of showing up with a tidy bow and a perfect lesson, I let this be a real conversation between me and you. A place to breathe, to soften, and to tell the truth about what it feels like when your inner world is rearranging itself.Because today we are talking about falling apart, and why it might be the most honest thing your soul has ever done.I'm introducing you to a concept I just found this week and immediately knew I needed to bring to you: positive disintegration. The kind of breakdown that isn't a failure, but a signal. A sign that the strategies you used to survive, the roles you learned to play, and the fantasies you clung to are no longer able to hold back what you already know in your bones. In other words, it's not that you are breaking. It's that your denial is breaking. And something truer is trying to come through. We talk about why our culture fears endings, grief, and death, and how that fear shows up psychologically when we're in the crucible of change, especially when you're considering divorce. I connect this to the life-death-life cycle, to the way nature does this without apologizing, and to the brutal tenderness of becoming. If you've been feeling heavy, depressed, anxious, or stuck, I want you to hear this clearly: those feelings do not automatically mean you're doing it wrong. Sometimes they mean you're finally doing it right.I also share one of my favorite images for this process: the butterfly becoming the goo. That disorienting, humiliating, sacred middle. The place where you cannot go back to who you were, but you cannot yet see who you're becoming. If you're there right now, you are not behind. You are not broken. You are in the chrysalis. And I bring in two powerful texts that help us name what we're living: Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and Women Who Run with the Wolves. We talk about Skeleton Woman, Lady Death, and what it means to stop throwing the parts of ourselves we fear off the cliff. We talk about building a foundation that can hold you through the unraveling, not by rushing to fix the feelings, but by staying with yourself inside them.If you're in that tender, terrifying season where everything you built your life on feels shaky, this episode is for you. It's a reminder that the breakdown might not be the end of your story. It might be the beginning of your true self returning.

Welcome to the one hundred sixty ninth episode of the #ExpatChat podcast, Taxation of US Retirement Accounts. In this episode, Atlas Wealth Group's Managing Director – APAC, James Ridley, is joined by special guest Martin Jack, Atlas Wealth's US specialist Financial Planner, while co-host Brett Evans is away. With US tax season underway, James and Martin unpack one of the most common and confusing topics facing Australian expats in the United States: how US retirement accounts are taxed and what happens to them when you eventually return home. They break down the key differences in how the IRS and the ATO treat US retirement accounts, and why those differences can create unexpected tax outcomes on repatriation. The conversation covers the most common US retirement structures, including 401(k)s, IRAs, Roth IRAs, and employer-sponsored matching strategies, as well as less familiar plans such as 403(b) and 457 accounts. Martin explains what is taxed versus tax-free, how transactions are viewed from an Australian perspective, and what returning expats should carefully consider before making decisions around their retirement savings. Packed with practical scenarios and expert insights, this episode is essential listening for Australian expats in the US who want clarity and confidence around US retirement accounts, cross-border tax rules, and planning for life after repatriation. AI is moving fast in professional services firms. And while most conversations focus on efficiency gains and new tools, the harder questions are around risk – ownership, liability, and what happens when AI use goes wrong. In this episode of The Handbook, Harv Nagra is joined by Sharon Toerek, a leading expert on IP and legal risk in the creative and consulting space, to unpack what AI really changes for operations leaders – and what needs to be in place to protect your businessHere's what they dive into:
Welcome to today's Dragonlance Hangout! This is a casual series where we discuss all things Dragonlance, from characters, to modules, to game editions in a relaxed conversation with the live audience. Today I am discussing the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set, Holmes Edition. https://youtube.com/live/gWX0M7frBEA Show Notes Intro Welcome to another DragonLance Hangout! It is Kirinor, Newkolt the 21st, and my name is Adam. Today I am discussing the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set, Holmes Edition. Discussion DLSaga Anthology https://dlsaga.com/contributors/ 4,000–7,500 words preferred Notifications sent by March 1, 2026 Holmes Basic Set https://grognardia.blogspot.com/2008/09/holmes-basic.html The Holmes Basic Set was published in 1977 and would be superceded by Moldvay/Cook Basic/Expert or B/X (1981) a revision and representation of OD&D for the mass market, supercedes Original Dungeons & Dragons (1974) an introduction to the then-unpublished AD&D game, and a unique game in its own right. draws select influences from other sourcebooks, including Supplement I: Greyhawk (1975), Swords & Spells (1976), the Chainmail wargame rules, and the third-party sourcebook Warlock https://dungeonsdragons.fandom.com/wiki/Basic_Set_(Holmes) color art by David C. Sutherland III contents vary considerably depending on printing, but all include the 48-page rulebook The rules only cover play from level 1 to 3. Spells are only provided up to level 2. From the Greyhawk supplement, it includes the thief class; variable hit points per class; and the hit point bonus for very high Constitution scores; the first-level Magic-User spells magic missile, shield, and ventriloquism; the second-level Magic-user spells darkness, magic mouth, mirror image, pyrotechnics, strength, and web; and the second-level cleric spells silence 15′ radius and snake charm. From Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, for which the Player’s Handbook had not yet been released, it includes the first-level Magic-User spells dancing lights, enlargement and Tenser’s floating disc; the second-level Magic-User spells audible glamer and ray of enfeeblement; the first-level cleric spells remove fear and resist cold; and the second-level cleric spells know alignment and resist fire. An individual initiative system has characters with highest Dexterity go first. The 3 for 1 basis rule is clarified to mean that one can lower an ability score to raise their prime requisite. Although Gygax would later assert that this was not the intended interpretation of the rule, it would influence further editions of the Basic D&D rules line. A two-axis alignment system is included, with alignments having both lawful-neutral-chaotic and good-neutral-evil. However, only five of the possible nine alignment combinations are evidenced in the text—lawful good, lawful evil, neutral, chaotic good, and chaotic evil. There is no neutral good, neutral evil, lawful neutral, or chaotic neutral. Parrying rules are included, likely from Chainmail. Early printings of the book included Dungeon Geomorphs Set One: Basic Dungeon (1976) Monster & Treasure Assortment Set One: Levels One-Three (1977) November 1978 onward, the box set instead came with a copy of the adventure module B1 In Search of the Unknown (1979) Later printings instead included B2 The Keep on the Borderlands (1981) It was edited by Dr. John Eric Holmes, an associate professor of neurology at the University of Southern California’s School of Medicine. Holmes was a D&D player, and it was he who first approached TSR in 1976 offering to write an edited revision of the game’s rules. TSR had originally envisioned the idea of a Basic Set prior to the release of Eldritch Wizardry (1976). publication date of July 10th, 1977 sold for the price of US $9.50 The Basic Set received seven printings between 1977 and 1980. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons_Basic_Set The rulebook is intended for characters of levels one through three, with rules for adventuring in dungeons, and introduces the main concepts of the game;[2] it explains the game’s concepts and method of play in terms that make them accessible to new players ages twelve and older who might not be familiar with the rules and structure of tabletop miniatures wargaming. Although the Basic Set was not fully compatible with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, players were expected to continue play beyond third level by moving to AD&D,[2][3] which was released beginning later that year. Holmes preferred a lighter tone with more room for personal improvisation, while Gary Gygax, who wrote the Advanced books, wanted an expansive game with rulings on any conceivable situation which might come up during play, and so could be used to arbitrate disputes at tournaments. Outro And that is all the time we have to hangout today. What do you think of Holmes' Basic Set? What was your first experience with D&D? And finally, would you ever play B1 or B2 with the Basic D&D set rules? Feel free to email me at info@dlsaga.com or comment below. I would like to take a moment and remind you to subscribe to this YouTube channel, ring the bell to get notified about upcoming videos and click the like button. Today we're exploring unschooling—not just as an educational choice, but as a deeply personal and often healing journey for parents themselves. My guest is Esther Jones, an unschooling mother of three, the founder of The Unschool Space podcast, and the author of The Parent's Handbook to Unschooling Yourself. Esther was led into unschooling by her own children, who challenged her to unravel long-held beliefs about parenting, learning, and neurodiversity. Esther and I talk about what it really takes to step away from conventional expectations and learn to trust children's natural learning processes. We also explore the emotional work parents often need to do along the way, the importance of self-care and community support, and how mindfulness and self-compassion can become essential tools as families build lives beyond traditional schooling—ones where both kids and parents can truly thrive. About Esther Jones Esther Jones is an unschooling mother of three, founder of the The Unschool Space podcast and author of the recently published The Parent's Handbook to Unschooling Yourself.Esther was led into unschooling by her children, who have helped her unravel years of conditioned beliefs around parenting, children, learning and neurodiversity. Today, she supports other parents in transforming their mindset and building a life beyond traditional schooling in which their children and themselves can thrive, using mindfulness and self-compassion as the foundational tools for change. Things you'll learn from this episode How unschooling requires parents to unlearn old beliefs and embrace the discomfort that signals growth Why trusting children to lead their own learning allows them to explore in organic, joyful ways How self-care and community support strengthen a parent's ability to show up for their child in an unschooling environment Why each child's needs may look different from their parent's—and how modeling our own passions supports their learning How online resources can expand support networks and deepen confidence for unschooling families Why the unschooling journey often becomes a healing process for parents as much as a learning journey for kids Resources mentioned Esther Jones' website The Parent's Handbook to Unschooling Yourself by Esther Jones The Unschool Space Podcast Esther Jones on Instagram Esther Jones on Substack A Conversation with Dr. Naomi Fisher on Self-Directed Learning (Tilt Parenting podcast) Blake Boles and His Book, Why Are You Still Sending Your Child to School? If our mission is to help people, everyone, answer the most important question, what can I do? Then at some point we need to talk to the people who help really wealthy people, help people. So today's question, what can I do about high net worth philanthropy? And look, hey, maybe you're among the vast majority who just heard that and you're like, well, this one doesn't apply to me, but hear me out. We have some of the worst billionaires of all time, but if billionaires are gonna continue to exist, we all need to have a good idea of how we can push them to distribute their resources more effectively and ASAP.And I truly do believe that among high net worth individuals, there are some, especially younger folks that are dying to do exactly that. So whether that is you or definitely not you, or maybe you are adjacent to someone like that, I think there's something for everyone here.My guest today is Sharon Schneider. Sharon is the Founder of Integrated Capital Strategies LLC, a consulting firm that helps founders and family offices create positive social change using an expanded toolbox of resources and strategies that spans the return spectrum from grants to market rate investments. She's also the author of Handbook for An Integrated Life: A Practical Guide for Aligning Your Everyday Choices with Your Internal Compass, a number one new release on Amazon that helps individuals live into their values the same way her consulting helps business owners and family offices. Sharon previously served as the Executive Director of the Telluray Foundation, the Founding Director of the Walton Personal Philanthropy Group, and the co-founder and CEO of Moxi Jean, a for-profit social enterprise that was acquired by Schoola in 2015. Sharon was named a Colorado Governor's Fellow in 2022 and in 2024 was named an Aspen Institute Finance Leader Fellow, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.Again, I really do think there's something for everyone here. This is a really important conversation in a time of growing inequality. We gotta help more people.-----------Have feedback?
