When it comes to music; the 90's as you know it really didn't happen until Late 1991. That fall the Grunge Explosion happened and everything from before then just kind of faded into obscurity. But was these music from earlier on that was unjustly forgotten? Is there any hidden gems from before? That's what we're going to look at on this episode. This year; two different bands decided to cover the Charlie Daniels Band's iconic hit; "The Devil Went Down To Georgia. Neither of those covers are any good IMO, but that being said it got me thinking about what makes that song so great. It was written and recorded in the heat of the moment to complete an album, but there's a lot of history and mythos that went into the song itself and its appeal. I'm making "Still The Number 1" it's own stand-alone episode going forward. Bit of a shorter one this week. Talking about the history of the Remix. One thing I love about remixes is how un-traditional they are. Taking established pieces of art and turning them into something new. Something that I think is important. All Music Is Real Music and remixes add to this point by a lot. Remixes are also an important part of music majorly contributed to by POC and the LGBTQA+ Community. I fly solo on "Still The Number 1" this week, keeping it short and talking about what as big this time last year. Old Town Road (Remix) was topping the charts and I argue it's an important song and earned that Number 1 Spot, but is it STILL GOOD? Listen and find out. I know it's a stretch, but there is some genuine six degrees of separation stuff going on here. Welcome to the first Episode of The Tim Gavin Show. This week we look at the music that was inspired by the Los Angeles Riots of 1992. Such a complicated and intense part of the 90's that sparked a lot of social commentary in music in the months that followed. Still a few aspects I didn't end up covering, but still deserve your attention too. NOTE: With all the unrest around the Murder of George Floyd and the protests happening around the US.
