They talk to us about the experience of going to the Hogs vs Texas game which at the time Texas were ranked 15th in the nation. In where the unrakned University of Arkansas came up with a huge upset aginst Texas in a stadium where there were around 88,000 people rooting for the Hogs. Which after pulling a big win like that all the student rushed on the field. They also share with us what motivates them to keep going in on those days we do not feel like keep going. As well as telling us the importance of helping those around you. Knowing that every action we take in our everyday has an impact in our future and it is not given, but rather you have to work for what you want. As we face our fears regardless of what they may be Tim tells us how he accepts and how he is comfortable on just being alone. Which is something we could all learn because once we accept our fear and are comfortable with it. That feeling of fear will not dictate the outcome of my decision because it will not be based on the fear I have. They also avocate going to a trade school and how they feel like they have grown up quicker in life as they have to pay for rent and other bills they pay now they are out high school. We also share the importance of have a good balance and staying active in the gym or having a good stable life. Hope you guys enjoyed the second part of the pod. Just in time for December, the Tim Gavin show is back from a brief hiatus. I left for a new home and rebuilt my studio, also making other changes along the way, but more on that later.... Music History This week is all about Lousy people to have in your band, we look at three band members who were not great to work with. Angus Maclise from The Velvet Underground, Alec John Such from Bon Jovi, and Morrissey. Still The Number 1 This week; Scott and I examine Dec 2002 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was a very interesting transitional year for pop and there was a LOT of Country on it this week. We Stop And Chat with Tim Gavin to discuss the first time he met Jeron Wilson, getting on Girl Skateboards, his son is now into skating, living with Jeron in the valley, selling product back in the day, starting DVS being his friends “boss”, in a hotel room calling Rodney Mullen with everyone passing the phone around to quit, what made him essentially quit skating and much more!
I know it's a stretch, but there is some genuine six degrees of separation stuff going on here. This week I connect the dots between one of the most important musical movements in a generation all the way to Bro Country and it's all because of Canada (well...one Canadian producer). I also look at music that was popular on the singles charts in 1999 with my friend and mentor Claire Spencer (PD and Mornings on Air 106.1 in Airdrie) and revisit two bands I used to love but have changed opinions on in recent years.
