Season 2: Episode. 1
Episode 030: "Podcast with Chris Durso"Have you heard this one yet? I feel like the straight facts laid out by Pastor Chris Durso in this episode should be required listening for every young adult serving in their church in any leadership capacity!
Episode 029: " Podcast w/ Real Talk Kim"Pastor Kim and I are talking singleness, marriage and so much more!
Episode 028: "Marriage and Ministry" Took some time to talk to my great friend Emma Mullings about striving for healthy marriages- especially when you do ministry or work with your partner! Such a great conversation in which she also taught us some of the practices she learned in therapy that helped her learn to fill the tank in her marriage! In every marriage you will have fights- ESPECIALLY if you are doing other things together (work, ministry, business) BUT there are ways to fight BETTER and most importantly, ways to repair after the fighting is done.
H.E.R. Stands for Honored, Empowered and Redeemed. This year the lord really put in my heart to reach out to girls in their 20's and girl's in their teens. Who are honored and powered and redeemed and help them really own that , help them really grow into a space where they live honored and they live empowered and they live redeemed. So I pray that this podcast helps empower those young women and reveal to them just how much honor they have.
Episode 027: "The Power of Being Present Part II with Ru Gracia"Check out Part 2 of a conversation with my brother Ru, about the power of being present in your spiritual life and day to day. If you haven't seen part 1, make sure you do!
You are a slave to your future when you refuse to love your life to the fullest TODAY because you are waiting for something in the future. It's when we allow the future to rob us of progress because we are assuming we will be able to do it later. The truth is, if we don't make progress today we won't do it tomorrow either. Success is a series of everyday decisions to make progress ONE day at a time- TODAY.So don't wait until you are married to be happy, work on yourself, get closer to God and start making your time count!
Episode 026: "The Power of Being Present Part I"My brother Ru Gracia and I talk about how our spiritual lives became deeper, richer, and more powerful when we learned the power of being PRESENT- a concept I wasn't familiar with for the greater part of my walk with Christ. I'll admit that without realizing it, my Christianity was shallow without me knowing it because I simply wasn't paying attention to what was going on inside of me.Some years ago, I began to realize that God is MORE interested in what's going on in my heart and mind as what is going on in the physical world around me, but I was only focused on the outside. Learning to stop, pay attention, and LISTEN to the Holy Spirit is what changed everything for me. This is what it means in the word when it says He is looking for those who worship in SPIRIT and TRUTH.
Episode 025: "Q + A w/ Vanessa Gracia Cruz"Hosted by Billie Marie Perez, I am answering all your questions from how to start your relationship with God to personal questions about me!
Episode 023: "God is your Defender"Such a great conversation with Rosie Rivera about emotional health and dealing with anger, even when your anger is 100% valid and warranted.Your anger is not the problem, it's a side-effect of something going on beneath the surface. It's trying to tell you something. Emotional health is learning to figure out WHAT so that you can deal with the real issue and stop dancing around the emotion.
Episode 022: "Emotionally Healthy Social Media Usage"What is it that triggers us when we see a post we don't like? That causes us to want to tear down others in their own comment section? That makes us want to seek a sort of revenge even when we KNOW that person doesn't know us, and therefore couldn't have been personally attacking us? *ding ding ding* it's our own trauma. If we aren't careful, our own emotional blind-spots will be at the driver's seat any time we are using these apps and will cause us to act completely opposite of how the Word teaches us to act. This episode is all about how to apply God's word to EVERYTHING you do, even scroll through ig
Episode 020: "The Importance of Mentorship"This week's episode with the amazing Lily Garcia. We talked about a few things we wish we would have known earlier including the importance of having and being a mentor!
Episode 018: "Emotional Health For Christians"my good friend Stephanhy Muyshondt helps me breakdown the ideas behind emotional health, and why it's so hard for us as Christians to understand. My greatest take away from this episode: we are human BEINGS not human doings. Emotional health AS WELL AS a healthy relationship with God stem from understanding that you are NOT what you do. Your worth does not stem from your works. Paul tried to teach us this over and over yet still some of us don't grasp it. You are not your works. You have an innate identity that God wants you to know, so that you can learn to relate to Him and others based on more than just titles, business, and works. In some cases, however, we rely on our works to “give” us our identity because we don't know who we were created to be, and thus try to ignore that part of ourselves all together.
Episode 017: "Toxic Relationships Within The Church"On this week's episode of HerPodcast we talk about toxic relationships within the church- and in specific, how “church girls” can sometimes suffer through relationships more than they should because they misunderstand what God requires of us in godly relationships, or because they forget that not all guys are in the same place spiritually as they are - EVEN if they met in church. It's interesting how both Mari Valdes And I grew up in the church, in great families, and loved the Lord, yet both ended up in abusive relationships as young adults. We put it ALLLL out there in this episode, I think this is my MOST important podcast as of yet.
Today's episode is the last of this series (for now) but probably the most practical- Diana and I discuss How to find your enneagram type. If you've been following along, but still aren't sure which type you could be, check out this episode! We discuss some common mistakes people make, important details you need to know so you don't mistype, and why it's a process not a quick-fix.As a bonus in this week's episode about finding your enneagram type: my sweet friend Angie spoke to us about her trip around the enneagram (I say this because some of us think we are a few different numbers before we find the right one
Episode 016: "Enneagram 7 & 5"The Types 7 & 5! Type 7 is nicknamed the Enthusiast. They are characterized by their energy, excitement for life, and love for all things fun. Unfortunately they can also fall into avoidance of their feelings, discomfort, and sometimes hard work. As children, 7s were denied nurture and support and adapted by becoming their own party, which has both advantages and disadvantages that we discuss in this week's episode!Type 5s are called the Investigators. These are people who love digging deeper into their interests, research, and acquiring knowledge. The most independent of the types, they don't need people to feel content, and dislike small talk. They can sometimes become overly-closed off and drift too far away from people and get lost I. Their own insecurities.Any 7s or 5s out there? Let's talk! What do you love or hate about your number?
Episode: 015: " Enneagram 2 &4"We did these 2 types together because they have lines to each other-meaning they are inherently interrelated and share characteristics- and I loved seeing how each type had something to teach the other. These two types within the “heart” center think with their emotions. This is not a bad thing as we were taught growing up- it simply means that they can more easily access their emotions to make decisions (whole other types access their intellect or body with more ease) these types have in common that they grew up as children whose emotional needs were not met (3s are also in this section of the Enneagram) and as such, they have an interesting relationship with their emotions and how they relate to people. Special Guest: Anthony Mercado & Ana Pomar as Enneagram 2Ashley Armenteros Enneagram 4
Episode: 013 "Enneagram 3"Today we cover the Enneagram type 3: The Achievers. Enneagram 3's are in the emotions triad, which means we were children who felt as though not all of our emotional needs were met. This doesn't mean necessarily that our parents were bad, but very often were busy and hardworking, and left us wanting more attention. Through the lens of childhood innocence, we began to seek that attention through achievements, accolades, and lord of activity.Enneagram 3s are all about getting things done, doing them well, and doing them as quickly as possible. We learned at a young age that gold stars feel good - so we really chase those gold stars. On the downside, we can sometimes over-value the approval and admiration of others. Growth for type 3s is all about realizing you are who you ARE, not what you do, and your value is not only found in achieving! Along side Amaury Gutierrez & Bianca Sabbat, I expose myself in the Enneagram 3, my very own number.
Episode 013: "Enneagram 6"Type 6: The Loyalist (out now!) This must be my favorite type cuz I married one. The Type 6s on the enneagram are nicknamed the loyalist. At the center of the “thinking” section of the enneagram, they think through absolutely everything and tend to honor fact over feeling. Because they consider the danger in all situations, once they decide, they are decided. This is why they are called the loyalist- once they chose a friend, a path, a career, a belief- they can not be moved. The most stubborn on the enneagram, they are blunt and matter of fact. They keep it real and are not moved by other people's opinions. However, they are also warm and the most team oriented. Which team they are a part of takes them a while to decide, but once they do, they are all in. At their best, their ability to see danger makes them great at identifying how to avoid it, and protect their friends and family (they are the true definition of a rider) At their worst, they can become anxious and paralyzed by their caution. Joined by my husband, Rico Cruz & my friend Cindy Mercado, lets navigate through the enneagram 6!
