La început de iunie, a avut loc vernisajul expoziției AfterLand, expoziție găzduită de Rezidența9, în cadrul căreia au fost puse împreună lucrări ale unui grup internațional de artiști preocupați de intersecțiile dintre artă, știință și natură. Pentru a înțelege noutatea artistică adusă de AfterLand, am vorbit cu Floriama Cândea și Diane Pricop, de la 'Asociația Qolony - Colonia pentru artă și știință'. O revoluție recentă în gândire apropie două moduri de cunoaștere și de raportare la lume, care au fost considerate separate, dacă nu chiar opuse, de prea multă vreme: arta și știința. Dacă cea din urmă ne dă o cale solidă de înțelegere a lumii din jurul nostru, aportul artei este acela de a ne învăța cum să ne pese, de a imagina un viitor mai bun, mai durabil, mai incluziv, un viitor pe care vrem să îl construim. Proiectul de cercetare artistică AfterLand si-a propus să sublinieze importanța conlucrării acestor două sfere, concentrându-se pe sustenabilitatea ecologică și socială a Deltei Dunării, unul dintre spațiile europene cele mai profund definite de ideea de confluență. Prin intermediul unei cercetări, a unei expoziții artistice și a unui simpozion, proiectul a propus un dialog intre disciplinele artistice, științifice și umaniste, pornind de la premisa că abordările transdisciplinare care includ arta pot atinge probleme complexe într-o manieră integrativă, necesară și mult mai dificil de realizat într-o paradigmă axată pe specializare și excludere categorică. Având o dimensiune internațională, proiectul a pornit de la Delta Dunării pentru a identifica modurile în care arta și știința pot colabora pentru a crește sustenabilitatea socială și ecologică a zonelor de tip deltă din întreaga lume. Miza nu este doar conservarea și protejarea acestor spații, ci și raportarea la ele ca la niște pepiniere pentru consolidarea unei gândiri holistice, în care oamenii de știință și artiștii își pot canaliza împreună abilitățile. În acest spirit, AfterLand a strâns împreună lucrări ale unor artiști internaționali care sunt deja specializați în creația interdisciplinară asociată ecologiei apei, într-o expoziție găzduită la Rezidența9 din București. Venind din Spania, Clara Boj și Diego Diaz își folosesc practica artistică pentru a vorbi despre modul în care noile tehnologii umplu spațiile publice urbane și aduc în proiectul AfterLand experiența lor ca participanți în Mar Menor, într-o cercetare interdisciplinară aplecată asupra lagunei spaniole, un spațiu cu o biodiversitate unică și aflat într-o stare de deteriorare semnificativă, având astfel multe în comun cu Delta Dunării. Mark IJzerman este un artist olandez, câștigător al bursei Starts4water în anul 2022, a cărui practică este concentrată pe evoluția planetei în această eră profund marcată de activitatea umană. Sébastien Robert (Franța/Olanda) călătorește în jurul lumii înregistrând sunete amenințate cu dispariția, fie din pricina globalizării, a schimbărilor climatice, sau a oricărui alt impact uman. Floriama Cândea, din România, propune lucrări care explorează relațiile dintre specii, dintre natural și artificial - atât dintre om și natură, cât și dintre om și tehnologii, speculând asupra unui viitor sustenabil. Robertina Sebjanic a venit din Slovenia, fiind unul dintre cei mai importanți actori europeni în proiecte culturale de ecologie a apei. Nu în ultimul rând, proiectele artistice ale Ioanei Vreme Moser (România/Germania) sunt la confluența dintre comentariul socio-economic, electronică și știință, incluzând cercetări asupra unor computere fluidice. Proiectul a cuprins o mică excursie de cercetare în Delta Dunării, între 5 și 8 iunie, în cadrul căreia echipa proiectului a vizitat laboratoarele Institutului Național de Cercetare-Dezvoltare din Delta Dunării, la Tulcea, pentru a căpăta o viziune de ansamblu asupra cercetării la nivel local și pentru a pune bazele unor eventuale colaborări și schimburi de informații în viitor. În încheierea proiectului, o serie de specialiști la nivel european în dezvoltarea structurală a proiectelor de artă, știință și tehnologie au avut un schimb de idei și de practici cu artiștii invitați, în cadrul unui simpozion, la Rezidența9. Masa rotundă a reunit reprezentanți ai Quo Artis, o organizație internațională cu sediul în Spania, dedicată promovării legăturilor dintre artă, științe, tehnologie și ecologie, Artshare - o organizație din Portugalia dedicată dezvoltării de procese, produse și servicii care îmbină practicile artistice și tehnologia și Obsolete Studio, o organizație din Franța dedicată transdisciplinarității, prin inițiative educaționale și proiecte de cercetare interdisciplinare. Proiectul AfterLand susține implicarea artiștilor în proiecte de cercetare, ca element esențial și mijloc puternic de abordare a unor subiecte sensibile, oferind o platformă pentru a stimula reflecția asupra comportamentului uman și a modului în care acesta poate avea un impact asupra societății și a mediului înconjurător. De asemenea, proiectul vine în completarea peisajului deja destul de bogat de cercetări totodată artistice și științifice din România, aplecându-se în premieră asupra ecologiei apei și a spațiului Deltei Dunării. Mai multe detalii despre proiect se găsesc pe site-ul https://qolony.eu/en/.
