Ada seorangmurid kelas 5 SD pada suatu pagi berkata kepada orang tuanya bahwa ia tidak maulagi masuk sekolah. Ia berkata demikian sambil menangis dan ketakutan. Setelahmenyelidikinya, mereka menjadi tahu bahwa anak ini takut diejek, dihina ataudibully lagi oleh teman-temannya di sekolah. Ia sudah berusaha sabar terhadapmereka, bermain dengan mereka, bahkan berbagi jajan dengan mereka, tetapi tetapsaja ia disakiti. Ia ingin saja berhenti sekolah. Orang tuanya ikut bersedihdan berusaha untuk menyelesaikan masalah itu dengan pihak sekolah. Pengalaman pahit murid itu jangan dianggap sekedar human error ataukekeliruan manusiawi, tetapi sebuah pola pergaulan jelek di sekolah yang harusdiperbaiki. Mungkin Anda sendiri pernah menjadi korban suatu pola perbuatanjahat seperti yang dialami murid tersebut. Dalam menghadapi kesulitan sepertiitu, ada orang yang mampu menyelesaikannya dengan kemampuannya sendiri, tetapiyang lain tidak mampu, sehingga mereka membutuhkan bantuan orang lain untukmengatasinya dengan segera. Cara penyelesaiannya dapat berupa pendekatanreaktif dan represif, yang berarti bahwa harus dilawan juga dengan kekerasan,tetapi dapat juga berupa pendekatan persuasif dan kekeluargaan. Satu ajaran Kristiani yang selalu dekat di hati para pengikut Kristusketika mengalami peristiwa hidup seperti ini, ialah memiliki jiwa besar sebagaiseorang pengampun dan rela untuk mengampuni. Nabi Yehezkiel di dalam bacaanpertama menggambarkan suatu tindakan memberikan ampun melalui sebuah sikapmenolak kekerasan tetapi juga bukan suatu sikap pasif atau diam. Ia mengajarkansebuah sikap mengalah dan menjadikan diri sebagai korban dari perbuatan orang-orangjahat. Ini untuk mengingatkan bahwa mereka juga pada saatnya akan mengalamikesusahan yang setimpal dengan perbuatannya itu. Cara mengampuni seperti inisama dengan mengatakan: Tuhan ampunilah mereka karena mereka tidak tahu apayang mereka perbuat. Tuhan Yesus mengajarkan ungkapan jiwa yang besar dalam mengampuni, yaitudengan pernyataan dan tindakan yang sangat eksplisit. Pihak yang berlaku jahatperlu melihat dan mengalami kalau kata-kata dan tindakan Anda sungguhmengampuni. Pengampunan seperti ini tidak boleh diukur sampai berapa kali yaitusecara kuantitas, dan juga secara kualitas seperti batas kesabaran, kelelahan,kebosanan, dan menyerah. Yesus menangkap kecenderungan pembatasan ini ada padapara murid-Nya dan kita semua. Oleh karena itu Ia menegaskan bahwa suatu jiwayang besar dalam memberikan pengampunan ialah yang tidak memperhitungkanbatasan baik jumlah maupun kualitasnya. Hal ini disebutkan-Nya sebagaipengampunan 70 kali 7 kali. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Tuhan, lembutkan hati kami supaya kami dapat mengampunitanpa batas. Adasekelompok remaja sedang memasuki sebuah toko yang berjual barang-barangelektronik dan ponsel. Mereka ingin sekali memiliki ponsel terbaru, tetapikarena tidak ada uang untuk membeli, mereka nekat untuk mencuri. Merekamengatur sedemikian supaya aksinya lancar dan tidak membuat keributan. Tetapi sebelum melakukan aksi mencuri, ketua kelompok mengajak semua untukberkumpul. Ia ingin supaya mereka berdoa dahulu sebelum mencuri ponsel-ponselyang diinginkan mereka. Namun ketika mereka akan segera berdoa, salah seorangdari mereka berkata: "Ini tidak masuk di akal. Mana mungkin kita berdoauntuk mencuri, Tuhan pasti tidak mengizinkan kita." Akhirnya mereka semuatidak jadi mencuri dan masing-masing bubar. Berkumpulnya orang-orang untuk berdoa selalu dilandasi motivasi yang baikdan untuk mencapai tujuan yang baik pula. Apa yang dikatakan oleh Injil tadisungguh benar, bahwa Tuhan hadir di dalam pertemuan orang-orang atas kuasa dannama-Nya. Jika ada pertemuan yang motivasinya ialah kekacauan, keributan dankekerasan, maka pertemuan itu sangat jelas tidak berkenan kepada Tuhan. Berkumpul dalam nama Tuhan memiliki beberapa unsur dasar yang selalu kitalakukan. Unsur penyebutan nama Tuhan merupakan yang paling kentara dan gampang.Doa yang singkat, seruan nama-Nya yang kudus, sebuah nyanyian pujian adalahcontoh-contoh kita berkumpul dalam nama Tuhan. Tuhan hadir bersama kita dalamkesempatan seperti ini bukan untuk kejahatan dan dosa. Unsur berkumpul sebagai komunitas gerejani merupakan kegiatan yang lebihformal dan berwibawa. Di sini ada perayaan-perayaan liturgis, sakramental danberbagai doa devosional. Tuhan menyentuh kita melalui sakramen-sakramen dan Iamemberkati kita yang menerimanya. Unsur yang menjadi tanda formal dan berwibawakegiatan ini ialah imam yang menjadi representasi Kristus sendiri. Tugas imamialah menjembatani umat Allah denganTuhan. Unsur kasih merupakan suatu ungkapan nyata bagaimana Tuhan berbuat danterlibat dalam karya cinta kasih yang dilakukan orang-orang beriman. Rapatuntuk merencanakan sebuah program pemberdayaan keluarga-keluarga miskin, inimerupakan contoh bertemu dalam nama Tuhan. Pertemuan untuk membahas danmembaharui hubungan antar pribadi, termasuk dengan koreksi persaudaraan, itujuga bagian dari berkumpul dalam nama Tuhan. Intinya, Tuhan hadir di dalampertemuan orang-orang beriman dan Ia yang menjiwai mereka. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Adasebuah reuni para alumni SD. Semua hadirin terdiri dari para petani, buruh,pegawai pemerintah, guru, rohaniwan, bahkan bupati untuk kabupaten setempat. Diantara semua ini, ada satu tamu yang sangat spesial, yaitu seorang lelaki tuaberusia 88 tahun, ia adalah kepala sekolah pertama sekolah dasar tersebut.Semua alumni memiliki kenangan indah tentang sang kepala sekolah. Semua alumni masih tetap mengingat bagaimana mantan guru mereka tersebutselalu memperlakukan setiap murid sebagai anaknya sendiri. Intinya, gurutersebut selalu menganggap setiap muridnya sebagai anak yang membanggakan.Setiap anak memiliki potensi dan bakat yang patut dikembangkan selanjutnya. Iaselalu memakai pendekatan persuasif untuk mengarahkan dan memperbaiki perilakumereka yang nakal atau kurang baik. Setiap selesai memberikan nasihat ataukoreksinya, ia selalu berkata begini: "Kamu anak yang membanggakan." Setiap anak di dalam keluarga, Gereja dan masyarakat kita sangat memerlukanperlakuan yang positif dan sehat. Dengan perlakuan ini, mereka akan tumbuhsecara positif dan sehat, sehingga mengurangi atau mematikan perilaku merekayang tidak disiplin atau di luar batas kewajaran. Mantan guru dan kepalasekolah tersebut sebenarnya mempraktikkan perbuatan Yesus sendiri yang menerimaanak-anak dan memberkati mereka. Yesus menempatkan anak kecil di tengah-tengahkita agar mengajarkan kita tentang menghargai dan memelihara kehidupan yangmenjadi karunia terindah Tuhan bagi kita. Sikap-sikap yang patuh, semangat belajar dan mengikuti disiplin hidupmerupakan sikap hidup yang melawan keras kepala dan hidup yang kacau.Kerendahan hati dan taat kepada Tuhan adalah semangat yang mengalahkankecongkakan, ingat diri, dan kekerasan. Kerajaan Surga disediakan bagiorang-orang yang hidup dalam semangat anak kecil seperti ini. Kita perlubelajar bahwa proses terjadinya sesuatu memang harus berawal dari yang kecildan lemah. Tuhan Allah memakai proses natural kita untuk mendirikan kerajaan-Nyadi dalam dunia. Iman kita tumbuh dari awal untuk menjadi dewasa. Kita dapat memiliki ide dan pemikiran tertentu, yang terbentuk darikumpulan fakta dan pengalaman kecil yang berbeda-beda. Sebuah bangunan rumahterbentuk dari elemen semen, pasir, batu dan genteng. Seorang profesor telahmelalui pengalaman belajar dan latihan dari kecil dan semua masa belajarnya.Jadi yang kecil, permulaan dan muda harus membuat kita bangga. Hari ini Gereja merayakan pesta Santo Laurensius, seorangdiakon di Roma. Ia dibunuh oleh Emperor Valerianus pada abad ke-3. Laurensiusdipenjarakan sementara dan menunggu waktu eksekusi. Ia dianggap menyimpan semuaharta kekayaan Gereja peninggalan Paus Sikstus II yang sudah lebih dahulu dibunuh empat hari sebelumnya. Pada harieksekusi Laurensius diperintahkan membawa serta semua harta kekayaan untukdiserahkan. Ia menuju tempat eksekusi diikuti oleh banyak orang sakit, lumpuh,miskin, terlantar yang setiap hari ia layani. Mereka semua adalah hartakekayaan yang ia miliki selama hidupnya. Santo Laurensius sungguh memberikan dengan sukacita. Artinya ia telahmemberikan semua dalam hidupnya untuk melayani orang kecil dan sakit, dan iniberarti ia menjalankan kehendak Tuhan. Ia bersukacita menjalankan pekerjaanyang dilakukan Tuhan sendiri. Saat eksekusi, ia hadirkan kesukaannya di duniayaitu hidup bersama orang-orang kecil dan sakit. Jadi ia rela dan senangmenerima hukuman mati atas dirinya karena setelah kematiannya itu akan tumbuhsubur sebuah semangat untuk memberi dengan sukacita di antara orang-orang yangtelah mengalami kasih Tuhan. Memberi dengan sukacita selalu menaruh fokusnya pada manusia yangmembutuhkan dan yang menerimanya. Fokus bukan pada benda dan materi menurutjumlah atau harganya. Kalau fokus perhatian kepada orang, otomatisbarang-barang kebutuhannya juga ikut diperhatikan. Fokus kepada manusia jauhlebih luas dan mendalam karena perhitungannya juga mencakup aspek-aspek nonmateri seperti nasihat, kedekatan, relasi, psikologis, kebudayaan dan lainsebagainya. Sering terjadi kalau bagian-bagian non materi ini dapat diberikandengan baik, yang material justru tak diperlukan lagi. Jika perhatian dan pemberian itu mengutamakan pribadi manusia entah pribadiatau kelompok, buahnya selalu berupa kepuasan rohani. Ada kenyataanbahwa setelah sekian waktu mengikuti Sang Guru, Yesus Kristus, terbukti pararasul tidak dapat menyelesaikan suatu masalah yang mereka hadapi. Orang sakitdan kerasukan roh jahat tidak dapat mereka sembuhkan dan bebaskan dari rohjahat itu. Mereka jelas menyadari ada yang tidak beres dengan iman mereka,namun mereka tidak tahu persis apa sebenarnya yang tidak beres itu. Yesus Kristus menemukan bahwa yang kurang pada mereka ialah kekuatan,kualitas dan inti iman itu meski mereka hidup bersama-Nya setiap saat. Imandiumpamakan sebesar biji sesawi, yaitu meski kecil tetapi berisi, berkualitas,berkekuatan dan dikaruniai untuk tumbuh menjadi besar. Potensi yang sedemikianbesar itu akan mampu melakukan apa yang tidak mungkin. Dengan kekuatan itu,gunung juga dapat diperintahkan untuk berpindah tempatnya. Konkretnya, iman sebesar biji sesawi itu seperti apa? Aspek paling intiialah di dalam diri seorang beriman, Tuhan adalah penentu dan penggeraknya. Inimengikuti apa yang dikatakan oleh Santo Paulus, bahwa hidupnya adalah bukandirinya sendiri, tetapi Yesus Kristus yang hidup dalam di dalam dirinya.Misalnya Anda diminta oleh teman untuk membantu meringankan sakitnya. Andaberkeyakinan bahwa Tuhan yang akan berbuat semuanya. Anda berdoa dan memberikansegala perhatian untuk membantunya, tapi Tuhan tetap nomor satu yang diberikanruang atau kesempatan untuk melakukan bagian-Nya. Jika hanya kemampuan manusia yang diandalkan, akibatnya orang menjadi cepatmalas, bosan, marah dan menyerah. Mungkin Tuhan tidak diberikan ruang dankesempatan untuk melakukan apa yang menjadi bagian-Nya. Aspek berikutnya yang menandakan iman sebesar biji sesawi ialah kesadarandan kecintaan untuk mempertahankan iman yang sudah tumbuh di dalam diri kita.Meski kecilnya seperti biji sesawi, godaan untuk meremehkan atau lalaimerawatnya harus dapat dikalahkan. Cada vez es más habitual escuchar a médicos, fisioterapeutas y otros profesionales sanitarios recomendar el entrenamiento de fuerza. Lo curioso es que hace no tantos años ocurría justo lo contrario. Si levantabas pesas, parecía que estabas firmando una sentencia para tus articulaciones. Hoy el mensaje ha cambiado completamente: ganar fuerza y masa muscular es una de las mejores inversiones que puedes hacer para tu salud. Pero hay una pregunta que casi nadie responde. ¿Por qué? ¿Por qué tener más masa muscular puede ayudarte a vivir más años? ¿Qué tiene que ver un bíceps más grande con la longevidad? La masa muscular no es solo estética Muchas personas empiezan a entrenar porque quieren verse mejor delante del espejo. Otros quieren bajar de peso. Otros simplemente quieren sentirse más atractivos. Y está perfecto. De hecho, da exactamente igual cuál sea tu objetivo. Puedes querer ganar masa muscular para ir mejor a la playa, para ponerte la ropa que te gusta, para jugar con tus hijos sin agotarte o simplemente porque quieres vivir muchos años. El proceso que tendrás que seguir será exactamente el mismo. Lo interesante es que, aunque tu motivación sea puramente estética, acabarás obteniendo un beneficio mucho más importante. Estarás construyendo un cuerpo que en el futuro tendrá muchas más probabilidades de seguir siendo independiente. El verdadero problema empieza mucho antes de los 80 años Cuando pensamos en una persona de 85 años normalmente imaginamos a alguien que camina despacio, necesita ayuda para levantarse o tiene dificultades para subir escaleras. Lo vemos como algo «normal». Pero la realidad es que ese deterioro no aparece de golpe. Empieza décadas antes. La mayoría de personas comienzan a perder masa muscular a partir de los treinta y tantos años. Al principio apenas se nota. Pero conforme pasan las décadas la pérdida se acelera. Y es alrededor de los 50-60 años cuando empiezan a aparecer las primeras limitaciones reales. No porque cumplas años. Sino porque llevas décadas perdiendo músculo sin darte cuenta. Ser promedio es una mala estrategia Hay una frase que repito muchas veces. Estar en la media es una mierda. Nadie quiere llegar a los 80 años machacado. Pero tampoco hacen nada cuando tienen 40 o 50 para evitar llegar así. Y lo único que está bastante claro es que si eres una persona promedio con 50 años, serás una persona promedio con 80. La masa muscular es lo que realmente limita tu calidad de vida Mucha gente piensa que con la edad lo que se deteriora es el equilibrio. O la coordinación. O la movilidad. Pero en realidad todas esas cosas suelen ser una consecuencia. El problema de fondo suele ser otro. La pérdida de fuerza y de masa muscular. Cuando pierdes músculo eres menos capaz de: Levantarte del suelo. Subir escaleras. Cargar una maleta. Llevar la compra. Sentarte y levantarte del sofá. Levantarte del váter sin ayudarte con las manos. Caminar durante horas haciendo turismo. Eso es lo que realmente determina tu independencia. No lo bonito que se vea tu cuerpo. Sino todo lo que todavía eres capaz de hacer con él. La sarcopenia: el enemigo silencioso del envejecimiento La pérdida progresiva de masa muscular asociada a la edad tiene un nombre: sarcopenia. Y es uno de los principales responsables de la pérdida de calidad de vida en personas mayores. Diversos estudios muestran que entre los 20 y los 80 años muchas personas pueden perder alrededor del 35-40 % de su masa muscular si no realizan entrenamiento de fuerza de forma regular. La fuerza también disminuye de forma importante conforme envejecemos. ¿Por qué la masa muscular aumenta la longevidad? Aquí es donde suele aparecer la gran confusión. La masa muscular no hace inmortal a nadie. No existe un nivel de músculo que garantice vivir cien años. Lo que sí hace es reducir muchos de los factores que aumentan el riesgo de perder independencia o sufrir complicaciones. Una mayor masa muscular suele asociarse con: Mayor capacidad funcional. Mejor equilibrio. Mejor salud ósea. Mayor sensibilidad a la insulina. Mejor metabolismo. Menor riesgo de caídas. Mayor capacidad para recuperarse de enfermedades. Mayor independencia durante el envejecimiento. Y todo eso acaba repercutiendo en una mejor esperanza de vida. La Decadencia Progresiva y el Test del Equilibrio Diversos estudios y pruebas físicas reflejan la velocidad a la que se deteriora la capacidad funcional con el envejecimiento: El 20% de las personas mayores de 80 años son completamente incapaces de sostenerse a una sola pierna durante 10 segundos. El 50% de los adultos de entre 71 y 75 años tampoco logran superar esta misma prueba. Esta incapacidad no aparece de forma repentina al cumplir los 80 años; es el resultado final de una decadencia funcional progresiva que comienza a manifestarse de manera silenciosa dos décadas antes. ¿Qué pasa con la fuerza de agarre? Seguro que has oído decir que una persona con más fuerza de agarre vive más. Y es cierto que existe esa asociación. Pero no porque tener un agarre fuerte sea especialmente importante para sobrevivir. La fuerza de agarre simplemente es un marcador muy fácil de medir. Cuando una persona pierde fuerza de agarre normalmente también ha perdido fuerza en el resto del cuerpo. Y cuando pierde fuerza general, probablemente también ha perdido masa muscular. Es decir… La fuerza de agarre no es la causa. Es el síntoma. Ganar músculo ahora es crear un colchón para el futuro Imagina dos personas. Las dos llegan a los 50 años. Una tiene una cantidad de masa muscular completamente promedio. La otra ha entrenado fuerza durante años y posee aproximadamente un 30 % más de masa muscular. Supongamos que ambas pierden el mismo porcentaje durante las siguientes décadas. ¿Quién llegará mejor a los 80? La segunda. Porque empieza desde mucho más arriba. Es como ahorrar dinero. Todos vamos gastando con el paso del tiempo. Pero no es lo mismo empezar con 1.000 euros que empezar con 100.000. Con el músculo ocurre algo muy parecido. Cuanto mayor sea el «colchón» que construyas durante tus años jóvenes, más margen tendrás cuando inevitablemente empieces a perderlo. Tener más masa muscular también hace más eficiente tu cuerpo Hay otra ventaja que pocas veces se comenta. Cuando eres más fuerte, las tareas cotidianas requieren un porcentaje menor de tu capacidad máxima. Levantar una bolsa de la compra. Mover una maleta. Subir escaleras. Agacharte para coger algo del suelo. Todo eso supone un esfuerzo menor. Necesitas activar menos fibras musculares. Consumes menos energía relativa. Te fatigas menos. Y tu sistema cardiovascular trabaja de forma más eficiente para realizar exactamente la misma tarea. Por eso la musculación no solo beneficia a los músculos. Beneficia prácticamente a todo el organismo. ¿Es mejor hacer cardio o entrenamiento de fuerza? Aquí suele aparecer una guerra absurda. Como si hubiera que elegir un bando. El ejercicio físico en cualquier formato tiene muchísimos beneficios. Eso está fuera de toda duda. Pero si hablamos de rentabilidad por unidad de tiempo, pocas cosas ofrecen tanto retorno como el entrenamiento de fuerza. Con tres sesiones semanales bien planteadas puedes mejorar: Masa muscular. Fuerza. Densidad mineral ósea. Capacidad funcional. Metabolismo. Postura. Prevención de lesiones. Calidad de vida futura. ¿Puedes hacer pilates? Claro. ¿Calistenia? También. ¿Salir en bicicleta? Por supuesto. Pero si solo pudieras elegir una herramienta para proteger tu cuerpo durante las próximas décadas, probablemente elegir la musculación sería una de las mejores decisiones. ¿Cuánto entrenamiento de fuerza hace falta? La buena noticia es que no necesitas vivir en el gimnasio. Ni entrenar seis días por semana. Ni convertirte en culturista. Para la mayoría de personas, dos o tres sesiones semanales bien diseñadas son suficientes para obtener enormes beneficios. Lo importante no es entrenar muchísimo. La mejor definición de longevidad Cuando hablamos de vivir más años solemos pensar en llegar a los 90. Pero creo que esa es una forma bastante pobre de entender la longevidad. Para mí, la verdadera longevidad consiste en otra cosa. Consiste en seguir disfrutando dentro de veinte o treinta años de las mismas cosas que hoy haces de manera habitual. Salir de viaje. Jugar con tus nietos. Caminar por una ciudad nueva. Subir unas escaleras sin jadear. Levantarte solo del suelo. Entrar y salir del coche sin ayuda. Seguir sintiendo que tu cuerpo trabaja contigo y no contra ti. Eso es longevidad. Y la masa muscular es una de las herramientas más potentes que tenemos para conseguirlo. No porque te garantice una vida perfecta. Sino porque te da más oportunidades de seguir siendo independiente cuando la mayoría ya ha dejado de serlo. Conclusión La mayoría de personas empiezan a entrenar por estética. Y no tiene absolutamente nada de malo. Pero con el tiempo descubren que el mayor beneficio no estaba en verse mejor delante del espejo. Estaba en construir un cuerpo que siga funcionando dentro de treinta años. Porque todos vamos a envejecer. La diferencia es cómo vamos a hacerlo. Y aunque no puedes evitar perder masa muscular con los años, sí puedes decidir desde qué punto empiezas esa caída. Cuanto antes empieces a desarrollar fuerza y masa muscular, mayor será ese margen y más fácil será mantener tu independencia durante el resto de tu vida. We conclude the daily Korbanot section with "Rabbi Yishmael Omer" – a Berayta (passage by a Tanna) authored by the great sage Rabbi Yishmael, listing the thirteen methods with which the Sages extracted Halachot from the text of the Torah. If one wishes to extract oil from the ground, it is not enough to know where the oil is located – he needs the right machinery to extract the oil from beneath the ground. Likewise, to deduce Halachot from the Biblical text, one needs to have the "tools," the rules by which the Halacha can be determined based on a careful analysis of the text. The first of these "tools" is Kal Va'homer, whereby a conclusion is reached through logical deduction, by noting that the Halacha applies in a less intuitive context. An analogy would be a person concluding that he can lift a certain heavy object after seeing that someone weaker than him was able to lift it. An example of a Kal Va'homer in the Torah is G-d's announcement of Miriam's punishment for speaking Lashon Ha'ra. He said that if Miriam's father had angrily scorned her, she would be ashamed for an entire week, so certainly, now that Hashem has scorned her by having her stricken with Sara'at, she should remain outside the camp for a week (Bamidbar 12:14). The second of Rabbi Yishmael's thirteen methods is Gezera Shava – extending a Halacha that applies in one context to a different context on the basis of a common word shared by these two areas of Halacha. Likely the most famous Gezera Shava is the connection drawn by the Sages between Pesach and Sukkot. The Torah establishes an obligation to eat Masa on the night of Pesach, the 15 th of Nissan, and the Sages deduced that on the first night of Sukkot one is similarly required to eat bread in the Sukka. As the Torah requires observing Pesach on "Hamisha Asar" – the "15 th " of Nissan, and it requires observing Sukkot on "Hamisha Asar" – the 15 th of Tishreh, we may infer that the obligation that applies on the night of Pesach applies also on Sukkot. Hence, one must eat bread in the Sukka on the first night of Sukkot just as one must eat Masa on the first night of Pesach. (Throughout the rest of Sukkot, although one who wishes to eat bread must do so in the Sukka, he does not have an obligation to eat bread in the Sukka; this obligation applies only on the first night.) The Tur writes that we recite this Berayta at the end of the Korbanot section between it is the introduction to Torat Kohanim – the Halachic Midrash on the Book of Vayikra, which focuses on the sacrifices, and is thus relevant to the topic of sacrifices. Furthermore, this Berayta appears in the Gemara (Yoma 33a), and thus by incorporating it as part of our daily prayer service, we ensure to learn some Gemara each day (just as reciting Ezehu Mekoman each day ensures the daily study of Mishna).
