Today's episode is a continuation of my conversation with Erik and Susan Totera about their daughter Reilly, an amazing young woman with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, who went to Heaven a little over two years ago. Today, they share how they are navigating the waves of grief, how their perspectives have shifted, and how they continue to find strength from the Lord in the face of sorrow. They remind us that while grief is heavy, it does not have to be carried alone. Lean in and be encouraged. Geoff Eckart lives in Grand Rapids, MI with his wife, Arianna. Together they have 3 daughters. He is the Lead Pastor at Daybreak Church in Hudsonville, MI, and the Founder & CEO of “Never The Same,” a national youth ministry. Geoff is also the Chairman of the Board for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. In this podcast, Geoff talks about how he is God is helping him to juggle his various job responsibilities, keeping a top priority on his walk with Jesus and his family. Geoff has led a ministry for young people for a number of years called “Never The Same.” Geoff tells about the major impact this ministry made even this past summer in the lives of thousands of high school age young people. In fact, he strongly senses that there is a real movement of God, especially among high school and college aged folks in our day. This, he says, is part of a real revival that is happening in our land which may well have begun with the events over a year ago at places like Asbury University. Geoff also talks about the amazing power of prayer that we American Christ-followers often neglect to take full advantage of. His church is putting increasing emphasis on prayer and, already, they are seeing a very positive impact. Finally, Geoff mentions an upcoming movie premier that he has helped produce about his prayer walk a few years ago across much of America. The movie is called The Justice Trail and will be premiered on September 4, 2024 here in Grand Rapids.

We've all experienced setbacks. Lost weight regained. An "A+" on one test followed by a "D" that pulls our grade down. A relationship that seems to be improved that goes off the rails...again. Our spiritual life can sometimes follow the same pattern. Wouldn't it be nice to know that some gains realized can never be lost? This weekend's edition of "Moments" will encourage you as we explore the gains that can never be lost once someone becomes a follower of Jesus.

Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Geoff Eckart, chairman, National Day of Prayer Task Force, founder of Never the Same organization, empowering youth across America and lead pastor of Daybreak Church in West Michigan. Pastor Geoff is a leading light and tireless champion advancing our shared values and principles. From the National Day of Prayer Task Force: The First Thursday of May | The National Day of Prayer (https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/) is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America's leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible. Historical Summary 1775 – The first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer 1863 – Abraham Lincoln called for such a day. 1952 – Congress established NDP as an annual event by a joint resolution, signed into law by President Truman (82-324) 1988 – The law was amended and signed by President Reagan, designating the NDP as the first Thursday in May (100-307). On May 5, 1988 – Ronald Reagan signs into law Public Law 100-307 the designation of the first Thursday in May as the annual observance for the National Day of Prayer. Public Law 100-307, May 5, 1988 "The President shall set aside and proclaim the First Thursday in May in each year, as a National Day of Prayer, on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals." Once Jesus has delivered you from a way of life, you stop living like a former sinner. Instead, you live delivered. You don't have to apologize to the world for who you were. Tell the world who you are now because you are never the same, and you will never be the same with Jesus.

Note: if you don't know the story of SwampDogg and South Jersey Bigfoot from previous episodes... you should probably go listen to those first. The episode starts with a short interview with SwampDogg, the guest from previous New Jersey episodes. That day I was scheduled to interview a Bigfoot researcher from the same area but unbeknownst to me, SwampDogg and his wife Tammi were getting deep into some Bigfoot research of their own. After my call with SwampDogg, The episode then goes on to focus on Jacob, a South Jersey Bigfoot researcher who is extremely knowledgeable in the subject. He shares some of the most intense Bigfoot encounters I've heard in a while and gives us some knowledge about Vineland, New Jersey that is extremely validating to SwampDogg's situation and which leads me to believe Vineland is truly one of the top current Bigfoot hotspots of New Jersey. This is one wild ride of an episode you won't want to miss. Today's show is less of an interview and more of a wine-fueled roundtable where we talk about music, friendship, business, and how they all fit together. My co-host is Dennis White aka Latroit. He was my guest on the very first episode of Rebel Radio and has made a few appearances over the years. We're interviewing his friend and fellow Berklee alum Ramin Sakurai of Supreme Beings of Leisure. You may remember them as one of the top trip-hop acts of the late 90s/early 2000s. Their hit "Never The Same" was one of the core tracks that bridged hip hop, dance music, jazz, funk, dub, and more into cool vibes. They've been gone from the scene for a while, but came back this year with their first new release in 14 years. Let's get into it. This damn fine podcast is with a man who has worked as a producer, writer, van builder, winemaker, experiential designer, and restaurant owner. His name is Jordan Chiu and he is one of the most erudite souls I know. In 2018, Jordan built out a van, put his stuff in storage, and drove from California to Argentina. He came back with a lifetime's worth of lessons, memories, and an incredible partner, who he then tragically lost to suicide after she lost her battle with depression. That loss has fueled his mental health advocacy work and his podcast, Never The Same, which shares stories of people navigating uncertainty and the events that changed them. He can often be found outside on an adventure accompanied by his dog Clover and a good playlist. Many mornings per week, Jordan is awoken by vocal yawns from yours truly. He's my housemate, sleeps one wall away, and describes my sunrise shrieks as “baby dinosaur groans.” Sorry Jordan, but I'll never change.P.S. If you dig this podcast, will you please leave a short review on Apple Podcasts? It takes less than 60 seconds and makes a difference when I drop to my knees and beg hard-to-get guests on the show. You can get my Friday newsletter on Substack. It's glorious.Send voice memos to thiermann@substack.com Get full access to Writing by Kyle Thiermann at thiermann.substack.com/subscribe
