Derek Clevenger was the mayor of Aumsville, Oregon. He became mayor after attending a city council meeting and asking questions that council refused to answer about a water and sewer fee that were not widely disclosed to citizens. As the chief petitioner, he leading the recall of half of the City Council of Aumsville and was later elected mayor, unseating the incumbent. He joined the Oregon National Guard, went on active duty, and earned his BA and his MBA while in Afghanistan. He is a trained medic and worked for the Department of State doing defense contracting in Northern Africa. Derek ran for Oregon House District 17 as an unaffiliated candidate. Because he ran as an unaffiliated candidate, he had to collect signatures to get his name on the ballot. If he had run as a Democrat or Republican, he simply would have paid a fee. Former Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan refused to certify his signatures, so Derek did not appear on the ballot. He since became interested in open primaries.www.alloregonvotes.comhttps://www.wweek.com/news/state/2023/06/06/feds-open-criminal-investigation-into-la-mota-and-shemia-fagan/https://www.wweek.com/news/2023/02/01/they-left-portland-is-losing-some-of-its-biggest-fans/https://oregoncapitalchronicle.com/briefs/six-months-in-oregon-gov-tina-kotek-remains-countrys-least-popular-governor/#:~:text=Tina%20Kotek%20remains%20the%20least,disapproved%2C%20according%20to%20the%20pollhttps://www.oregonlive.com/politics/2022/05/new-poll-finds-kate-brown-is-nations-least-popular-governor.html

Curtis & Jordan with our very special returning guest Derek Clevenger Mayer of Aumsville discuss small town politics. We had a great time catching up on things a few towns over and learning more about how small towns are run. Derek is very honest and that fits in well with this podcast where we encourage testing what might be called normal. He has some very cool things he has worked to accomplish with honest advice for those that may not know what they can do to help their own towns. We shockingly skipped shower thoughts this week as we got caught up in our conversation. We did still have a few laughs. If you like the music check out the artist here: theearthonfireIntro song links: Spotify Apple MusicPlease subscribe to us on YouTube and join us live for our weekly recording!Follow us on InstagramFollow us on Facebook for the easiest way find us live (YouTube Links will be posted there)Links discussed in episode:Derek’s Facebook PageHero Politician Shuts Down Boomer by Saying “okay boomer”
Madison has made a special trip to Aumsville, Oregon to see the totality of the solar eclipse. She had a bit of car trouble on the way, but Mike picked her up and got her the rest of the way. Little does she know that exposure to the rays of light slipping past the moon during the eclipse will turn her, Mike, and everyone around them into sex crazed maniacs. It starts with the sun going out, then the sounds of an orgy, and soon the world has changed to accommodate people who crave sex constantly. (This is another experimental episode. This one uses the Scottish accented synthesized voice with some post-processing (equalization and echo filter etc) to make it sound a little fuller yet again, since that seemed well received. Let me know what you guys think. Hope you all enjoy it.
