On this episode of The Disciple-Making Parent podcast, we explore the critical balance between children's ministry and parental discipleship in the church. We speak with Jared Kennedy, author of "Keeping Your Children's Ministry on Mission: Practical Strategies for Discipling the Next Generation," who shares his journey from aspiring missionary to children's ministry leader. We discuss how children's ministry is not merely childcare but a vital part of the church's mission to pass faith to the next generation. Kennedy challenges the notion that parents are the sole disciplers of children, arguing that Scripture places this responsibility on the entire covenant community. The conversation highlights how even teaching toddlers is missional work, as they develop crucial vocabulary that forms the building blocks of faith. We also examine how children's ministry serves as a "subversive" training ground for parents to learn discipleship skills they can implement at home.Join us as we navigate the complementary roles of church and family in raising the next generation of believers - not just as disciples, but as disciple makers with hearts for the nations. ----Thanks for listening to the Disciple Making Parent podcast. Comments? Questions? Send us a message! This is the first in a three part series which can be helpful to senior pastors and church leadership teams re: how to practically deal with giving and stewardship in their churches. First, we'll look at where teaching and leading on giving and stewardship fit within the overall concept of equipping the saints for ministry ... which we pastors are called by God to do.It may be a new thought for some, but teaching and leading in these areas is part of Christian discipleship, which we're also called to do.We'll even go so far as to say that we can't develop fully mature believers without helping them discover and practice these truths. If Jesus instructed His disciples (and us) in these matters, then this must be part of our curriculum as we disciple others. The local church is the primary setting for spiritual growth and members have a biblical duty to care for one another through the word. The various “one another” texts in Scripture illustrate the responsibility of Christians to love, honour, forgive, and instruct each other. A church culture of discipleship is fostered through meaningful membership, where members view their commitment as a covenant to care for and invest in one another.

I take my kids out, one-on-one, every week. It doesn't have to be anything fancy—sometimes, it's just ice cream or a car wash run with my daughter. Over time, these moments build strong relationships and make way for deeper conversations. Plus, we try to do family devotions and prayer time before bed. We're not perfect, but it's a constant effort. Absolutely. It's crucial to prioritize your kids and give them the best of you, not just what's left. Simple activities, like watching a favorite show together, can mean a lot. The key is to be present and make the most of these moments. Right. And it's never too late to start. Even if you've missed opportunities before, you can always begin now. Whether it's with your own kids, grandkids, or kids at church, just be intentional. God's grace covers it all, and He's more than willing to help us on this journey.

Ep. 551 Daniel Berger, Discipling a Fool's Heart by Rick Thomas
Shows Main Idea – Godly parents and educators ponder how they can practically help their child turn from being a foolish youth to becoming a wise lover of Christ (Proverbs 1:22-23). Though no parent can transform a child's spiritual heart, all believing parents are called to discipline their children in wisdom so that God can convert them to be wise (Proverbs 1:8; 13:1). In this interview with Dr. Daniel Berger, you will find encouragement and clear direction as you parent your child, mature in friendship, and increase your skill as a biblical counselor. Pastor Dawn exhorted us to be the “living Church of the Living God!” We must stand firm and be the people of God, trusting Him, seeking Him, praising Him, and fulfilling our purpose. We must not be focused on the darkness, but be declaring His greatness, His goodness, His blessing and His glory! We need to recognize that we must spend our time and energy on things of eternal value. The only thing we can take to heaven with us is souls! It is time to rise up with determination and declare who He is to everyone. We must be the Church who trusts God, faces adversity without taking our eyes off of Him, praises Him through everything. We are breaking the chains off, and serving up true Life in Jesus to others!

In Pastor Jamey Bridges' sermon, he emphasizes the importance of discipleship, urging the congregation to actively engage in both being discipled and discipling others. He reminds everyone that Jesus possesses all authority and promises His presence in the journey of faith, encouraging believers to overcome feelings of isolation and inadequacy. Pastor Jamey challenges attendees to reject the notion of being too busy and to prioritize relationally nurturing their faith and the faith of others. He calls on the community to take ownership of spreading the gospel by actively participating in discipleship, ultimately glorifying Jesus through their actions and relationships. Thanks for listening! The most powerful sermons your children will ever hear won't come from a stage. They'll come from your table, your car rides, your prayers over scraped knees and whispered bedtime blessings. God never meant discipleship to happen once a week in a classroom. He designed it to happen every day—in your home. Our springboard for today's discussion is:"Teach them diligently to your children..." — Deuteronomy 6:7God speaks clearly to parents in Deuteronomy 6: teach your children His ways diligently. That word doesn't mean perfectly. It means persistently. Consistently. Over time. In the ordinary rhythms of life.Faith is not caught through occasional moments of inspiration—it's caught through steady exposure to truth. Here's what that looks like practically:* Reading Scripture aloud as a family—not for performance, but for presence.* Speaking God's promises when your child is afraid.* Praying out loud before meals and before decisions.* Talking about God in the context of everyday life—not just Sunday mornings.Your home is your most sacred mission field. And whether you realize it or not, your children are being discipled by someone or something. If we're not intentional, the world will fill the silence we've left behind. You don't have to be a Bible scholar. You just have to be available. What matters is not your eloquence—it's your obedience. When God's Word is normal in your home, your children learn that God is not distant—He's daily.Question of the Day:How are you currently discipling your children—and what simple habit can you start today?Mini Call to Action:Choose one time—breakfast, drive-time, bedtime—and begin reading one verse together each day. Keep it simple. Keep it consistent.Let's Pray:Father, help me disciple my children with purpose. Let our home be filled with Your presence and shaped by Your truth. Give me courage to lead, speak, and model the life of faith You've called us to live. In Jesus' name, amen.Let's Get To Work!Discipleship doesn't begin in church—it begins at home.Support MyR2B Ministries:MyR2B Ministries is our full-time ministry. Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Have you ever heard it said that evangelism is better “caught than taught”? Well, it's true! So when it comes to equipping Christian teenagers, we must actually do what we say we believe. If we're not living lives marked by bold, loving Gospel conversations, why would they? Discipling teens to share their faith begins with showing them how it's done and walking with them as they try it for themselves. And that's why we at EE are so passionate about On-The-Job training, where a trainer shows what having a Gospel conversation is like. And training a teenager to share their faith is about helping them see people the way Jesus does, giving them courage to share the Gospel, and reminding them that the Holy Spirit does the real work. And when teens are discipled, they grow deeper roots and broader reach. They become influencers for Christ in their classrooms, on their sports teams, and communities. If you'd like more information on how to disciple a teenager in evangelism, visit sharelife.today.
Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. According to Barna research, only 19% of Christian teens say they've personally been discipled in how to share their faith. That's right...less than one in five. And meanwhile, teens are navigating complex cultural conversations every day — conversations about identity, justice, truth — without knowing how to bring Jesus into them. And if we don't disciple them, the world will and already is. Discipling teens to share their faith isn't just a “nice-to-have.” It's essential. And they can absolutely be incredible witnesses for the Kingdom of God. 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don't let anyone look down on you because of your youth...” Let's equip the young people of our church, walk with them, answer their questions, and show them how to talk about their faith confidently. If you'd like more information on how to disciple a teenager in evangelism, visit our website at sharelife.today. That's sharelife.today.

I. The Presence of Grace - 2:11a “For the grace of God has appeared” II. The Purposes of God's Grace - 2:11b-15 1. The Primary Purpose - Salvation 2. The Secondary Purposes - These 7 discipleship dynamics are consistently mentioned in the New Testament. We all need an ongoing commitment to each of these doctrinal convictions. There is a diverse audience in Titus chapter 2: Older men, Older women, young women, young men. All should be passionate about prioritizing Titus 2:11-15. Today, I want to focus on the wonderful role of mothers. The primary place where discipleship is worked out is the HOME.
