Two decisions hit Washington this week that could have massive consequences for families nationwide. On the judicial front, the Supreme Court is weighing whether states can protect women’s sports. At the same time, Congress is debating the extension of Obamacare subsidies, this time without Hyde Amendment protections for the unborn. Aaron, David, and Mike explain what’s at stake in these two major ideological battles. After the news, Dr. David Closson joins the podcast to unpack new survey data from George Barna and the Family Research Council, revealing a troubling gap inside America’s churches. While many regular churchgoers say they want clear biblical teaching on issues like abortion, sexuality, and religious freedom, foundational Christian beliefs about God, sin, and salvation are rapidly eroding. When churches go silent, culture fills the gap. Barna’s research shows that all seven “cornerstones” of a biblical worldview are in decline, even among committed believers. David explains what’s driving this collapse, why it matters for the Church’s witness, and what pastors and Christians must do to reclaim biblical clarity in an increasingly confused culture. TAKE ACTION Now is the moment to speak up using CCV.org. Through our Action Center, you can quickly contact Senators Moreno and Husted to encourage them to defend the Hyde Amendment. The process takes less than a minute! Call on Ohio's US Senator Moreno and US Senator Husted to oppose taxpayer-funded abortion in any “deal” on Obamacare subsidies. More About Dr. David Closson David Closson, Ph.D., serves as the Director of the Center for Biblical Worldview at Family Research Council, where he researches, writes, and speaks about life, human sexuality, religious liberty, and related issues from a biblical worldview. He is the author of FRC's Biblical Worldview Series, which seeks to help Christians and Christian leaders apply the teachings of the Bible to difficult moral questions. Dr. Closson's work has appeared on Fox News, RealClearPolitics, National Review, The Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, Decision Magazine, WORLD Opinions, The Gospel Coalition, Townhall, and The Christian Post. He is the author of Life After Roe: Equipping Christians in the Fight for Life Today (B&H Academic, 2025), co-author of Male and Female He Created Them: A Study on Identity, Sexuality, and Marriage (Christian Focus, 2023), and co-author of the forthcoming book Worldview Basics: A Worldview Curriculum for Students (Fidelis Publishing, 2026). Dr. Closson is a regular guest on Christian and conservative media outlets, including Washington Watch, FRC's national television and radio program heard on more than 800 stations across 48 states. He also speaks at conferences, seminars, and churches across the United States and abroad, addressing moral and cultural issues from a biblical worldview. Dr. Closson is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ph.D.), The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M.) and the University of Central Florida (B.A.). He lives in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife, Abby, and their son, Daniel.

Dr. E responds to a parent navigating complicated family dynamics, spiritual differences, and the pressure to ensure grandparents become spiritual influences in their grandchildren's lives. Dr. Easley offers wisdom, realism, and biblical perspective—reminding parents that their primary calling is to disciple their own children, not fix extended family relationships. Emphasizing that the key difference between the ordinary and extraordinary is God's divine touch, Johnson discusses the critical importance of discipleship, fasting, and prayer. He underscores Jesus' ultimate act of submission in the Garden of Gethsemane and how followers are called to be like Jesus in saying, 'Thy will be done.' Johnson cautions against 'pick and mix religion,' urging believers to fully align with God's word to see divine power manifest in their lives. The video opens with Shodankeh Johnson, a renowned Christian leader from Sierra Leone, Africa, sharing extraordinary testimonies about the transformative power of prayer and fasting. Shodankeh emphasizes that these spiritual disciplines can turn ordinary people into extraordinary individuals who can accomplish God's work. Shodankeh illustrates his points by sharing compelling stories from his own life and ministry. He explains how submission to God through prayer and fasting can open doors for disciple-making and transforming communities. His stories include instances where prayer and fasting led to miraculous conversions, including a confrontation with a militant leader who eventually became a Christian and now serves as part of Shodankeh's ministry. Shodankeh argues that disciple-making involves three levels of submission to God: the disciple-maker, the lost, and the spirits. He highlights how prayer and fasting are active ingredients that empower these stages. Through fasting and prayer, ordinary men and women have become powerful instruments for God's work in Sierra Leone, leading to entire villages and tribes coming to know Jesus. As Shodankeh's session concludes, Dave Clayton and Mandisa join the conversation. Dave Clayton, a pastor from the Nashville area, shares his journey of integrating prayer and fasting into his church's practice. He narrates their struggles and triumphs, emphasizing how persistent prayer and fasting have begun to catalyze a spiritual shift within their community. Dave explains his vision to mobilize churches across Nashville to pray and fast over every name, neighborhood, and nation represented in the city. His goal is to spark a broader movement of prayer and fasting throughout America. Mandisa, known for her work in the Discipleship First Tribe and her music career, talks about her realization of the need for desperation in prayer. She compares her experiences in American churches with those she observed during international tours, noting a stark contrast in the desperate fervor for prayer and fasting. She is moved to challenge herself and others to cultivate a similar level of spiritual desperation. Throughout the video, the speakers discuss cultural differences and the challenges faced by the American church in adopting these spiritual disciplines. Shodankeh explains that fasting and prayer are disruptive, yet necessary for true disciple-making. The leaders highlight the importance of humility, learning from the global church, and bringing a disruptive disciple-making mindset to North America. In conclusion, this video is a stirring reminder of the power of prayer and fasting in disciple-making. It challenges viewers to reconsider their spiritual practices and embrace a deeper, more committed walk with God for the sake of personal transformation and broader community impact. Is your family's sports schedule life-giving or life-draining? In this episode of the Homeschool Dad Series, David Nunnery and Owen Strachan dive into the “theology of the sidelines.” They discuss how coaching and athletics provide a unique “Deuteronomy 6” opportunity for fathers to disciple their children through shared struggle, hard work, and adversity. Learn how to set healthy boundaries, keep Christ at the center of the court, and use sports as a tool to build masculine character in a passive culture. Men’s Challenge: Sit down with your spouse this week and define your family’s “non-negotiables” regarding extracurricular activities. Whether it's protecting the Sunday Sabbath or ensuring you have dinner together at least four nights a week, establish these boundaries before the next season starts to ensure your schedule reflects your spiritual priorities. Key Takeaways: Theology is Practical: Theology isn't just for academics; it's about understanding God as a “self-giving Father” and reflecting that through sacrifice for your own family. The Power of Shared Struggle: Sports (or any craft like woodworking or music) provide a “common goal” that fosters deep relationships and allows for “sideline discipleship” during car rides and practices. Developing Masculine Character: In a culture that often penalizes assertiveness, sports offer young men a healthy outlet for aggression and a training ground for overcoming adversity. Guarding Against Idolatry: Families must set “non-negotiables” (e.g., no games on Sundays or Wednesday nights) to ensure sports remain a tool for growth rather than a master of the home. The “Attacking” Mindset: Teaching kids to “attack life” and expect adversity helps them build a Christ-centered identity that doesn’t cower when things get difficult. Daily Dose of Hope December 16, 2025 Scripture – Acts 18 Prayer: Dear Holy God, Your love is amazing. Thank you for the way you care for us. In these next few moments of silence, Lord, help us focus on you...Lord Jesus, help us set aside every distraction and take this time to lean on you. We want to hear your voice. Amen. Welcome to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the daily Bible reading plan at New Hope Church in Brandon, Florida. We are currently working our way through the book of Acts and today, we dive into Acts 18. Here, we read more about Paul's missionary journey. He heads to Corinth, where he almost throws in the towel when it came to preaching to the Jews. But God encourages him and we continue to see his pattern of heading to the synagogue first, debating with the Jews, and then bringing the message to the Gentiles. While I'm sure it was frustrating for Paul, he did see a lot of fruit. Jews and Gentiles alike from all walks of life are beginning to believe the Good News. Priscilla and Aquilla appear on the scene and they are a huge support to Paul, as Apollos will be as well. What I admire so much about Paul is how he traveled around frequently, built networks of believers (which become churches), and he seems almost fearless. He doesn't get too attached to any place, although he stays some places longer than others. And yet, he builds deep relationships. There had to be a lot of hard good-byes. Another thing I noticed in today's reading is Paul's ability to disciple people in the faith. He disciples Priscilla and Aquilla. He stops by all the different churches where he has built relationships, discipling them and encouraging them. His various pastoral letters, while they addressed specific problems, were definitely letters intended to disciple and mentor those working under him in the name of Jesus. He doesn't lead someone to Christ and then just leave them in that infancy stage. He truly does everything he can to build people up in the faith and help them grow. Discipling others is hugely important and I think it's something we don't do very well in the Western church. For so long, our emphasis was getting people to say yes to Jesus. While that is not a bad thing, Jesus teaches us in the Great Commission to go make disciples. Remember, a disciple is an apprentice, someone who is truly working to be like Jesus. This doesn't mean someone who has intellectual belief in Jesus but someone who is doing all they can to be like Jesus in thoughts and actions. What are some ways that we could do a better job discipling other Christians at New Hope? The bottom line was that Paul was totally and completely sold out for Jesus and he was willing to make any sacrifice to advance God's Kingdom. How many of us can say that? Wow. Blessings, Pastor Vicki
Class 1 in our BOLD Course on Christian Discipling & Biblical Counseling. Adapted from Capitol Hill Baptist Church's Core Seminar on Christian Discipling: https://CapitolHillBaptist.org/sermon/class-1-what-is-discipling Description from SermonAudio: Discipling is the intentional, relational, and loving practice of guiding fellow believers toward spiritual maturity through consistent engagement with Scripture, rooted in the Great Commission and modeled by Christ's own example. It is not a program or passive activity, but a deliberate process of equipping others to follow Jesus by fostering obedience to His Word, repentance from sin, self-discipline, and a growing desire to share the gospel. Central to this work is the transformation of character and life, not merely moral improvement, as believers are called to be conduits of God's truth, nurturing one another in the context of authentic relationships within the church. The goal is to help others become mature in Christ—grounded in Scripture, equipped for every good work, and able to discern truth for themselves—so that the entire body of Christ grows in unity, faith, and holiness. This work is not reserved for pastors or experts, but is the shared responsibility of every believer, carried out through personal investment, mutual encouragement, and the faithful teaching of God's Word.
In this deeply moving conversation, Jessie sits down with longtime friends Jessica and Andrew Arnold to talk about their journey raising and discipling their daughter Sarah, who is autistic, vibrant, socially curious, and wonderfully unique. The Arnolds open up about Sarah's early diagnosis, the beauty and complexity of her faith, and the ways they've learned to release expectations, trust God, and embrace who she is rather than who they once imagined she might become. With honesty and tenderness, they share what it looks like to navigate neurodivergence, emotional highs and lows, identity questions, and spiritual formation in real time. They talk about Sarah's love for cosplay, her evangelist's heart, her deep honesty, her struggles with jealousy and belonging, and the remarkable way she makes space for others on the margins. The conversation also highlights how faith communities can support neurodivergent individuals—not by fixing them, but by attuning, welcoming, and creating belonging. This episode is an invitation to reimagine discipleship with gentleness, patience, and grace. It reminds us that God's image is reflected beautifully in every person, and that those who experience the world differently often teach us the most about vulnerability, love, and the heart of Jesus.ORDER Jessie's newest book, Ordinary Discipleship: How God Wires Us for the Adventure of Transformation → https://a.co/d/51j86DGFor more great stuff, check out: Ordinary Discipleship by Whoology: https://whoology.coFollow us on social media:https://instagram.com/ordinarydiscipleshiphttps://facebook.com/ordinarydiscipleshipFollow Jessie on social media:Instagram: https://instagram.com/yourbrainbyjessFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/jessica.s.cruickshank/Twitter: https://twitter.com/yourbrainbyjess ORDER Jessie's newest book, Ordinary Discipleship: How God Wires Us for the Adventure of Transformation → https://a.co/d/51j86DGFor more great stuff, check out: Ordinary Discipleship by Whoology: https://whoology.coFollow us on social media:https://instagram.com/ordinarydiscipleshiphttps://facebook.com/ordinarydiscipleshipFollow Jessie on social media:Instagram: https://instagram.com/yourbrainbyjessFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/jessica.s.cruickshank/Twitter: https://twitter.com/yourbrainbyjessJessie Cruickshank is a disciple-maker, wilderness guide, and ordained minister. Next-gen leaders will gain insight into how to approach AI with wisdom, use it with integrity, and disciple students already engaging with it daily. Hear stories, practical examples, and biblical reminders to keep Christ at the center of the cultural AI conversation. Also in this episode: Discern how AI can assist in streamlining administrative tasks, planning trips, or creating resources—ultimately freeing leaders to focus more on the students they serve. Warn students about the dangers of relying on AI for truth, identity, or belonging, reminding them that only Christ can provide real hope. Address tough questions directly, like whether AI-generated pornography or avatars still fall under lust and sin, so students don't look elsewhere for answers. Guard your own integrity as a leader by avoiding shortcuts in sermon prep and letting your teaching overflow from personal time with God's Word. Discover how to use AI as a practice tool for evangelism by simulating gospel conversations that can help prepare students for real-life encounters. We have to encourage students and help them understand where they can go for real, actual help.” —Shane Pruitt “People are already using AI as a pastor, a friend, even a significant other. That's not real relationship.” —Lacey Villasenor “Let's be wise and tread carefully into the waters of AI. But if we can use it with integrity for the glory of God, let’s use it.” —Paul Worcester “The best sermons are those that you’ve bled over the Scriptures yourself, when the Holy Spirit’s worked out things in you rather than receiving a response back from ChatGPT in 10 seconds.” —Shane Pruitt

Wow! The questions in this episode are deep, but I'm here for it. Listen in to episode 1 as they discuss how to reach and disciple Gen Alpha, students born 2010–2025. Discover what makes Gen Alpha unique, how the church can minister to them in the areas of their greatest needs, and how you can help them leverage their strengths for the gospel. Also in this episode: Be equipped to disciple the digital generation by leaning into their online presence while helping them build stronger in-person relational skills. Recognize and respond to Gen Alpha's awareness of brokenness with the hope of the gospel, pointing them to Jesus as the true Savior. They just want the Word of God. They have a hunger for that.” —Paul Worcester “As an evangelist, it excites me that Gen Alpha knows they're messed up and that they're already at a young age looking for more.” —Shane Pruitt “This generation is all in on the few things they care about, especially their close friends. They'll protect and advocate for them fiercely.” —Lacey Villasenor “Like missionaries, we need to contextualize ministry for this generation. Let's stay focused on the basics and let God's Word do the work.” —Paul Worcester “If we're spending more time on developing bumper videos and planning games than we are in the Word and preparing to teach the Word, we're missing it. And this generation will reject that.” —Shane Pruitt

Recently, Jeremy began shifting toward one-on-one discipleship, and he loves it! Here's the deal: it seems small group culture and leadership talks have led many to feel that small-scale or one-on-one discipleship is inefficient or low-impact, but we're pushing back against this mindset and emphasis. Just make disciples. Helping one person grow in their relationship with Jesus is worth it! Be faithful with one or even more, but don't settle for apathy or a low-challenge, low-invitation culture. Who in your life might God be calling you to disciple now?Ordinary Movement is a discipleship platform that equips men and women to be disciples who make disciples. Our focus is on supporting small groups led by ordinary/everyday Christians. We have specialized discipleship tracks that center around Intimacy with Jesus, Intentional Relationships, and Multiplication. Groups are designed for individuals to easily engage in leading groups.Ready to be a disciple who makes disciples? If so, come and join us!Visit ordinarymovement.com to learn more!#discipleship #disciplemaking #disciple
Josh Roberts never expected a Bible study to alter his entire ministry. But when he dove into Romans 9–11, one question from the Lord changed everything: “What about Israel?” In this episode, Josh sits down with Matt and Ron Davis to share how that divine interruption led to the birth of Qashar Ministries - a calling to reconnect the Church to the Jewish people, the Land, and the truth of God's enduring covenant with Israel. He talks about the blind spots he had as a pastor, the resistance he faced after speaking up, and the passion that drives him to disciple other leaders who are waking up to the same truth. This isn't theory - it's personal, prophetic, and grounded in Scripture. Key Takeaways Romans 9–11 Changes Everything: Josh discovered that Israel wasn't a footnote - it was central to God's plan. Blind Spots in the Pulpit: Many pastors avoid the topic of Israel, fearing theological backlash or misunderstanding. Qashar's Mission: From churches to conference rooms, Qashar Ministries is equipping leaders to see Israel clearly through a biblical lens. A Gentle Push from the Lord: One quiet moment in the Word turned into a nationwide ministry. The Gospel and the Land: Josh explains why Israel's story and the Gospel are inseparably linked.
