The already-expansive world of Calva Louise is growing even more! Their new album ‘Edge of the Abyss', comes out on July 11th via Mascot Records. This one-of-a-kind band found each other from opposite corners of the world and has combined influences and experiences to create a myriad of captivating threads entwined into their existence. Metal, punk, electronica, and art rock weave through grandiose narratives and cinematic storytelling with a mind-blowing visual delivery on the new album. They built an impressive DIY spirit and formidable reputation on the UK live circuit through performances at Download, 2000Trees, a headline performance on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds festival, as well as tours with Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Razorlight, Boston Manor, and Bloodywood. We spoke to the trio recently, learning more about who Calva Louise are, how they have reached this point, the new album, the work that has gone into it, and so much more. We had the pleasure of interviewing Barny Fletcher over Zoom video!London artist Barny Fletcher has released his new mixtape, JETPACK!Barny Fletcher has seen a meteoric rise since his debut, garnering support from BBC's Radio 1, Australia's Triple J, and features everywhere from a collaboration on the latest DJ Shadow album, a Euro 2020 fashion design campaign with Umbro, as well as inclusion on the soundtrack for Michaela Coel's HBO series I May Destroy You. Today's new single comes on the heels of previous track "Backstroke," which landed on Spotify's New Music Friday and has already racked up 250K Spotify plays since its release last month. Barny first started teasing the forthcoming JETPACK mixtape late last year with "Breakfast at Isabel's," which featured a playful video co-directed by Barny himself, and then followed with track "90s Baby" this summer. A budding pop prodigy with undeniable charisma, Barny Fletcher first debuted in 2019 with singles "Christ Flow" and "Blu Skyes," which set the stage for his hotly-tipped debut project, CANVAS2033, and its follow-up, BOZO. The releases sparked support from BBC Radio 1 on their 'Introducing Playlist,' leading to a prestigious performance slot at the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1 Big Weekend. He has also played a sold out London headline show as well as festival appearances at Lollapalooza Paris, Reading & Leeds, and The Great Escape.Growing up in a small Somerset, UK village to a photographer father, filmmaker mother, and very little else to occupy his hyperactive nature other than an eclectic record collection, Barny delved into the catalogs of artists such as The Kinks, Eminem, Bob Dylan, and Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, a chaotic fusion that still influences him today. Getting his start uploading weekly tracks to SoundCloud, Barny's sound has evolved into a kaleidoscopic mix of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and disco, alongside a distinct lyrical take on the absurdity of the everyday. He has landed on Spotify's NMF UK playlist 7 times, has seen Front Left, Our Generation, and Free Form (including the cover!) Spotify placements, as well as on Apple Music's New Music Daily. Outside of music, Barny enjoys developing his fashion brand 'Verlimont,' a passion project of which he enjoys sourcing quality materials and even hand-applying finishing touches himself. Having had the idea of doing a live review show for the best part of six months, it was great to finally get the Scottish Fiction Roundtable off the ground and on the air. Not that it was overly difficult mind you. Step 1: Ask a blogger to come on the show and review records. Step 2: Do it. So I was delighted to be joined by my monthly EP series partner in crime David McElroy from Almost Predictable. Almost to run through tracks from Deadly Rides, Reverieme, Ambassadeurs, Holy Esque, Hudson Mohawke and Pinact. There's also a BBC Introducing Stage slant to the show, with no less than 7 acts playing the T in the Park stage featured on the show. Wrap that up with a Re-Mixing It Up track and new music from Miracle Strip, Outblinker and Big Cloud, you've got yourself two hours of Scottish Fiction. If Joni Mitchell & Joan Armatrading were writing a song in a smokey cafe in London, it might sound like Hadar Manor.   Hadar Manor writes songs about life as an urban gypsy. Awarded – the official ‘Queen of the Underground' of London Underground's licensed buskers, described by The Observer as a ‘prodigy', Hadar's self-released debut album ‘Crossing London' follows her journey busking through Europe from the foot of the Judas mountains all the way to Glastonbury Festival where she was a finalist in the Emerging Talent Contest and went on to play at both the BBC Introducing Stage and Michael Eavis' press launch to open the festival.   Hadar has collaborated with award winning producer Youth, DJ & Mixer Sandy Riviera, and modern Klezmer wizards Oi Va Voi. Worked on soundtrack for Veils, independent short film with Maureen Lipman & awards winning film ‘I'm Not An Accent'.   Previous TV performances include ITV's ‘South Bank Show'. Live radio appearances include: Radio 2, Radio 4, Capital Radio, LBC.   Hadar took part in BBC Radio 2 – ‘Great British Songbook' & covered a Paul McCartney's ‘Maybe I'm Amazed'.   Hadar is now writing & recording new material for a new album These new songs are written, as always, through the eyes of a gypsy travelling through no man's land…
