On today's episode I speak about making fashion blunders during fashion week, I make the cardinal mistake of wearing animal print as a plus size person. This led to me being on a torta adventure from he mall to the movie theater. I went to see a movie in 2D and the ladies in front of me made it a 3D experience. These seats that were bolted to stay stiff ended up being super flexible putting the structure at risk. From there i try to step out of character and be a hero, to my avail i find out what my true weakness is, it is high cost of living. This girl was trying to shop lift and i was gonna buy her out the situation until heard the full price and i was like nah I'm good. FRED HAMPTON - WHY DON'T YOU DIE FOR THE PEOPLETHIS IS AMERICA - CHILDISH GAMBINO(00:00 - 26:58)On the movie review section we talk about film movies and other things and give the worse takes. This week i speak about “ THE CONJURING LAST RITE ” this is the final installment of the franchise, and for me it felt lackluster. This was snooze fest for me and i feel they have yet to ever reach the success of the first film. To me they did too much without doing too much if this makes any sense, this was a typical conjuring movie and they keep making the same game play every trip. If you want to watch this film, wait for a streaming date and watch it from home. (26:59 - 34:06)I then jump into The Cool Report where we discuss Kendrick Lamar once again because he just received an Emmy for his Super Bowl performance, what a time for hip hop and a bad time for a Canadian. This beef has been going on for more than a year and this is clear sign that there was a victor in this battle, award winning general. Speaking in general a woman politician in Georgia calls ice on Hyundai factory created to facilitate more jobs on the US. She killed an international relationship for votes that she will not be getting, she blew all chances of getting elected with this stunt. Then i speak on the assassination of Charlie Kirk and I try to be respectful as possible, while talking about the division of a nation. His death should not be the go to answer when you have a disagreement with someones views, this is not how our democracy should work.(34:07 - 01:02:28)We then step into a segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself or just randomness. A random listener wants to talk about Pain in Full rights being bought by 50 cent, and this shall be interesting. If this becomes a series, then we can go more in-depth into their lives. Another character wants to know is it right to double charge siamese twins for events if they only take up one space, this was a very interesting convo. Then we receive a question of my future baby mother, that won't be anymore because she's unraveling in front of the internet, leave Brittany alone. (01:02:29 - 01:17:02)Then we have 2 fans ask us a questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. A lover wants to know is it cool, for your friends to be cool with your ex. Is this a betrayal of friendship or a gross overlook on the idea that you invited this stranger into their lives and they have now bonded. Another lover wants to know how to break to to his girl that he knows she cheating, because she's cheating on him with him???? right that sounds crazy, tune in for full detais.(01:17:03 - 01:26:54)THE FINThanks to everyone that shows us love and wish y'all the best on the journey called life.(01:26:55 - 01:29:27)please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe.PEACE OUT!!!! As a country, we have been celebrating Labor Day for well over 100 years. It's a celebration of the people—the men and women who do the work. This coming Monday our episode features Miller Electric Company who has been a part of the men and women who do the work for almost 100 years. It feels like an appropriate episode to celebrate the holiday with. I sat down with Josh Nieves of Miller for this episode to have a real and honest conversation in the Jacksonville headquarters of the Miller Electric Company. We talked about his origins and journey from the heart of New York in Manhattan and Freedom Tower and all the way to Florida, where he now works with Miller. He's investing in the people and carrying on their company culture and values. I think it's important for us to remember to stand firm on what it is that we believe whether it's about the values that a company represents, or whether it is your faith, or whether it is what you would call doing the right thing. It is important to believe and uphold. To believe means that you accept a statement to be true and you believe that something exists. Josh and I talk about what we believe, about Miller, and what we believe about life. I truly enjoyed this conversation. I encourage you to check it out this coming Monday on your Labor Day holiday. Happy Labor Day from me and Blackline LTD

Escuchar audio
There is no byte-sized episode this week because I really feel like all of you must listen to this one in it's entirety. xoxo The work that Reverend Jaime is doing is so needed and so essential right now, because it not only speaks to those animals and insects that she advocates for, it also can apply to the land that we walk upon. With the government attempting to sell our public lands to the highest bidder, it is about time that we begin to look around and realize that everything around us has spirit, is sacred, and needs us to advocate for it's existence! And that is what my friend Rev. Jaime is doing through her work as the "Creature Preacher" with her voice, with her books, with her words...she is urging us all to do better, but ALSO, to SEE that all life, that everything around us, deserves respect, honor and a listening ear. Because that life is endlessly trying to engage with us, to enter into conversation with us, and brings us along, as partners, to this magical and mysterious dance that is unfolding around us! To read more about Pastor Jaime and what she is doing in the world click here! To buy her books, click here! Your bit of Beauty is this: a reminder that even water is sacred. Please watch or listen to Water Teaching with Edna Manitowabi -it'll remind your heart just how gorgeously connected we are to everything!!

Emily Colbert Cairns of Salve Regina University and Nieves Romero-Díaz of Mount Holyoke join Jana Byars to talk about Early Modern Maternities in the Iberian Atlantic (Amsterdam University Press, 2024). It is the first volume to emphasize women's personal experiences and their life trajectories as mothers within the Peninsula and across the Atlantic. Although an official discourse that defined the conditions of motherhood emerged in the eighteenth century, before this period there were many different articulations of motherhood through which women negotiated hierarchical relationships, power struggles and alliances. While the individual experiences were unique and depended upon the positionality of race and class, the complexities of being a mother were universal. The wide variety of written and visual documents included in this volume highlight women's voices in the first person along with more subtle references to motherhood as well as silences. This collection broadens our understanding of the complexities of motherhood, addressing the pressures of becoming a mother, miscarriage, the acts of giving birth and lactation and the ordeals of raising children. Son las siete de la mañana. Buenos días, Mara, Mateo. Buenos días, Javi, Nieves. ¿Cómo empezamos el día, José Real? Cuéntanos. Hola Javi, hola Mar, ¿qué tal? Buenos días. Behind every cape, catchphrase, and cartoon lies a labyrinth of legal battles that define who owns our most beloved fictional characters. From courtrooms to corporate boardrooms, the fight for character rights shapes not just entertainment, but billion-dollar empires.Dive deep with us into fascinating cases that reveal the high-stakes world of character ownership. The Pokémon Company's swift takedown of a $40 million bootleg mobile game shows how fiercely major franchises protect their roster of creatures. Meanwhile, Star Wars faces unexpected challengers as actors from deleted scenes demand £190 million for their likenesses appearing in new content – potentially changing how studios use archival footage forever.Explore Disney's $10 billion Moana lawsuit, where an animator claims his unpublished screenplay was appropriated for the hit film, raising profound questions about idea ownership in Hollywood. We also examine what happens when copyright protection expires, as Popeye and Tintin enter the public domain only to be immediately reimagined as horror characters and noir detectives. The emotional battles over El Chavo del Ocho characters demonstrate how performers and creators clash when trying to separate the artist from their iconic role. María Antonieta de las Nieves' landmark victory to perform as La Chilindrina independently stands in stark contrast to Spider-Man's tangled web of rights shared between Sony and Disney in an unprecedented co-licensing arrangement. And who knew that Sherlock Holmes showing emotions could trigger copyright infringement claims? These stories reveal a fundamental truth: in our character-driven entertainment landscape, intellectual property isn't just about legal documents – it's about who controls the soul of our collective imagination. Subscribe now to explore more fascinating collisions between creativity and the law that shape the characters we love.Send us a text
