Belgian psychedelic post-metal masters Psychonaut return with their triumphant new album World Maker, released 24th October via Pelagic Records. This record takes the form of life lessons for guitarist/vocalist Stefan De Graef son, who at the time of album writing, learned he was to be a father. There's very little as life changing as that, and although misery would follow not long after the birth of De Graef's son as the devastating news that both his own father and Psychonaut bassist/vocalist Thomas Michiels' father had been diagnosed with advanced cancers, the record is still focused on the positive experience of becoming a dad. It doesn't matter if you can relate or not, you'll be able to understand the feeling in this record, regardless. Psychonaut may never make an album quite like this again, that is how unique an effort it is, but long-term fans won't be turned off by it either as so much of what makes them who they are is present. It's the most contemporary the band has sounded, and with that, comes something truly unforgettable. Canadian heavy music pioneers Kittie marked a quarter-century milestone with the release of ‘Spit XXV', a four-track EP celebrating the 25th anniversary of their gold-certified debut album. The collection features freshly re-recorded versions of ‘Brackish XXV', ‘Charlotte XXV', ‘Do You Think I'm A Whore XXV' and the title track ‘Spit XXV', all produced, once again, by Garth Richardson who helmed the original 1999 sessions at EMAC Studios. There's nothing to complain about here, and these versions don't replace the originals, so if you prefer them, have at it. However, for the rest of us, it's a chance to drown in nostalgia and appreciate just how far this band has come. All hail Kittie. After more than three decades, Swiss pioneering technical metallers Coroner return with a new studio album. Dissonance Theory will be released on October 17th, 2025, worldwide via Century Media Records. What does a new Coroner album look like in 2025, three decades (plus) after the release of the last one? It's a question that every listener will contemplate and it's a question that the band have clearly thought long and hard about too. Refusing to dredge the rivers of the past only and instead take a deep plunge into the dark unknown in an attempt to find relevancy. A challenge, and Coroner treat it more like a swinging pendulum, going back and forth, effortlessly combining modern technical flourishes with old-school thrashy intensity, and so much more. Essex death metallers Beyond Extinction released their long-awaited debut full-length, ‘Where They Gather', on September 26th, 2025. The culmination of pain, work and progress across more than three years of suffering and observations through the lens of nihilism. Honestly, it's a miracle that Beyond Extinction are still standing. Having gone through more than any band should with the death of founding member Zach Scott in 2023. Conjurer, one of the UK's most vital and uncompromising metal bands, return with their third album 'Unself', out 24th October via Nuclear Blast Records. Doesn't it feel like ten56. have been around for much longer than they actually have? That's the impact they've had since they first arrived five years ago and delivered their gargantuan debut album, ‘Downer'. Pagan folk band Faun will release their brand-new album ‘Hex' on September 5th via Pagan Folk Records. This twelfth studio album by Faun is about witches, female healers and wise women. Far away from the cliché of the evil fairytale witch, the German ensemble aim to highlight the various aspects of female magic in different cultures and the legitimate question why we still fear the evil witches instead of the people who burned them. The album title Hex is derived from “Hexe” German: witch / ahd. ‘Hagazussa' (= the one who walks between the worlds). As boundary pushing as ever, Faun's pagan folk sound continues to evolve in interesting ways and through sheer determination, they make it more accessible than ever. Dosgamos are an Italian heavy metal band born in 2018 who have released two full-length studio albums to dare. Their debut ‘Wrapped Renaissance' in 2022, and most recently, ‘On Day Seven He Regretted'. What began as a solitary studio project—beat-driven, synth-laced, and self-contained—soon outgrew its walls. The live stage demanded more. Visually, the world of BLVD HVNNY is just as potent. Joaquín, directed by Bradley Devine, claimed Best Music Video at five international film festivals, while Nocturnes added three more to the collection. The debut album, IX, is a sonic descent—a beautifully fractured mirror of mood and memory. It features lyrical collaborations with long-time co-writer Erin Alden (Lilac Sky, Joaquín, Scarface); gothic icon Ashton Nyte of The Awakening (who also lends his voice to She's One of Us Now); and the haunting presence of Bronwyn Leigh Fink on a stirring rendition of Yazoo's Winter Kills. That same track was further elevated by a powerful creative reunion with old school friend and world-renowned producer Craigie Dodds, who's masterful, genre-defying touch drew out the song's buried intensity and cast it in a bold, twisted light. Extreme metal supergroup Sinsaenum are back and back with a beast of a record! Their long-awaited brand-new album, 'In Devastation', will be released on August 8th, 2025, via earMUSIC. This year, Japanese black metal legends Sigh celebrate 35 years of existence. With a career that has seen the release of 12 studio albums, countless worldwide shows, and a relentless dedication to pushing musical boundaries, they have firmly cemented their status as one of the most revered and influential cult acts in extreme metal. To celebrate, Sigh have revisited their 2007 opus, Hangman's Hymn. A compositional powerhouse in its own right, Hangman's Hymn was notably Sigh's first concept album, blending fast 80s thrash metal influences from bands like Wehrmacht, Sarcofago, and Repulsion with classical music—particularly German symphonies. However, Hangman's Hymn was often seen as not fully meeting the band's own standards in terms of execution and production. As a result, frontman Mirai Kawashima took it upon himself to do justice to this at times overlooked masterpiece of intricate songwriting by re-recording it with the current Sigh sound and delivery, under the title I Saw the World's End – Hangman's Hymn MMXXV. It was released via Peaceville on 13th June. Doing the impossible, turning an already iconic album into something even better, Sigh's decision to re-record this beloved record has proven to be a genius move. Not only because its unique style and structure has been made richer and bolder thanks to modern technology, but because a whole new set of listeners are going to experience this album's brilliance for the first time, and it is brilliant. Secreum are a 4-piece metal band formed in North London in 2012. With crushing guitar riffs and pummelling drums along with an ear bursting low end in between frenetic solos, it provides the perfect backdrop to convey all the injustices we deal with in life whilst also shedding light on the things we hold most dear. Their latest single, 'Metamorphosis' is out now and can be summed up as thrashing beast of a track. Fast, intense, and very mean sounding, but with melodies and one hell of an anthemic chorus.
