In this episode, we talk about how to anchor yourself in God's love. We have our special guest interview with Belinda Garcia, she is an entrepreneur, hairstylist, wife, and mom. She gets very vulnerable about how she started pursuing her dream and vision to own her own salon and the obstacles she had to overcome in order to pursue her vision but most importantly how to anchor herself in God's love. Key Takeaways: + She opens up about how she grew up with her parents inspiring her to work hard to pursue her dreams. + She shared how becoming a mom inspired her to be even more successful so that she would be a great example to her daughter as well. + One of the biggest hurdles she faced was getting married and moving out of her hometown and having to learn how to start all over in a new state. + She had to learn how to set boundaries for her marriage and her business. + It was in her marriage that she learned how to set boundaries and to have more grace. + She had to pause her career to focus on her marriage, and through that season she began to truly understand how to anchor herself in God's love before anything else. + It started with setting personal boundaries for herself and finding her first love in Christ. + She had found her identity in her marriage and had a spirit of fear and was trying to control everything in her marriage but ended up putting her husband before God. + Her breakthrough came when she was tired of trying to do it on her own and she had to lay down her marriage before God and she pursued the heart of God and put Him first before anything else and had to get alone with God. + She shares how she had to surrender everything to God and trust Him and she never stopped praying for her husband. When she started getting involved with her church and found community she started seeing the change and growth in her marriage. + God opened the doors for her and her husband to reconcile and restore their marriage and at the same time, they opened up and started their own business and opened their salon together. + She recommends writing down your goals and continuing to look at them and keeping them at the forefront of your mind. + Recommends reading the book “Boundaries” by John Townsend and Henry Cloud. Visions of GOLD: + Is there anything that is pulling you away from your first love? Do you need to reconnect with your relationship with the Lord? Welcome to the first proper episode of Shep It: A Mass Effect First-Timers Podcast. Join Jonathon Dornbush, Belinda Garcia, and Jordan Mychal Lemos as they begin making their way through the Mass Effect trilogy, each for the first time. The trio will be cataloging their adventures aboard the Normandy and throughout the galaxy, recounting their Paragon or Renegade decisions, debating which aliens to smooch, and much more. On the first episode, Jonathon, Belinda, and Jordan go over character creation and explain their approach to creating each of their individual Shepards. Did they go Male or FemShep? What class did they choose? What background have they given their intrepid space commander, and do they now regret it because they'll never hear the end of what happened on Akuze? Find out all that and more as the trio explains their character creation process. Plus, we cover the Eden Prime prologue, including its introductions to combat, squad members, and the overarching story of the Mass Effect series. Has it hooked us from the start, or did the first impression not quite land? Listen to find out! And if you'd like to be part of the show, write in with questions and comments to shepitpodcast@gmail.com!
The beloved BioWare Mass Effect trilogy is one of the most highly regarded RPG series around, particularly for its depth of storytelling and player choice. Unfortunately, three writers and video game industry members never played them! So, listen to Belinda Garcia, Jonathon Dornbush, and Jordan Mychal Lemos as they venture through the trilogy for the first time to make their own choices, discover why it's so beloved, and, most importantly, pick which characters to smooch. Join them for episode 0 as they explain what this show is, what you can expect from them on it, and what we hope fellow first timers, and longtime Mass Effect fans, will get out of the podcast! And if you have questions, comments, or anything else, be sure to write in to shepitpodcast@gmail.com.
