rWotD Episode 3062: Knights of Valour Welcome to random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Sunday, 21 September 2025, is Knights of Valour.Knights of Valour (simplified Chinese: 三国战纪; traditional Chinese: 三國戰紀; pinyin: Sān Guó Zhàn Jì) is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game series released by International Games System (IGS). The plot is loosely adapted from the 14th century Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong, and features the Five Tiger Generals, Zhuge Liang, Diaochan and others as playable characters. The gameplay involves the use of magical powers that are not featured in other games also based on the novel. The series includes eleven games, including five main titles: Knights of Valour (1999), Knights of Valour 2 (2000), Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits (2003), Knights of Valour 3 (2011), and the remade Knights of Valour (2015). The original games were developed for arcades and released in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English. All but two games in the series ran on the IGS' own PolyGame Master arcade hardware, the exceptions being KOV The Seven Spirits, which was released on Sammy Corporation's Atomiswave (later received a homebrew port for the Dreamcast in 2020), and the Knights of Valour 3D iteration, which was released online for PlayStation 4 and mobile.A 3D installment of Knights of Valour for the PlayStation 4, as a free-to-play game, was originally slated for release in Spring 2015 in Asia and Japan, but was delayed to a summer release. The game is monetized by selling the ability to continue after being defeated and supports up to four players online. A beta version was released for trial for PlayStation Plus subscribers on the PS4. GamesInFlame acquired the rights to publish the game in Europe and Australia. In April 2023, IGS released the IGS Classic Arcade Collection on the Nintendo Switch, a compilation of eight games originally created for the IGS PolyGame Master. Included in the collection are Knights of Valour Plus, Knights of Valour Superheroes and Knights of Valour 2 - Nine Dragons. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:39 UTC on Sunday, 21 September 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Knights of Valour on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Joey.

In today's Daily Fix:Lucasfilm dropped the first official image from the set of the latest Star Wars movie, Starfighter. There's not much going on in the black-and-white photo—just star Ryan Gosling and costar FLynn Gray hanging out on what looks like a landspeeder—as production has only recently gotten underway. It's directed by Deadpool & Wolverine's Shawn Levy, and will be out in 2027. In other news, Crystal Dynamics has let go of an unknown number of workers following the cancelation of Perfect Dark. The game was in development hell for years, but showed signs of life last year with a new gameplay video, until Microsoft ultimately decided to pull the plug. And finally, PlayStation Plus is getting an Xbox game, with Psychonauts 2 leading the pack of new games coming to the service. The game was developed by Microsoft-owned Doublefine Studios.

In today's Daily Fix:Former head of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden, took aim at gaming subscriptions services. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Layden said sub services can turn game devs into 'wage slaves' and that those services don't add anything to the industry. He mentioned Xbox's Game Pass specifically, asking the rhetorical question, "is it healthy for the developer?" In kind of related news, PlayStation Plus is adding new games this month, headlined by Mortal Kombat 1 and Marvel's Spider-Man. Some smaller, but still worthwhile, titles being added are Harold Halibut, Indika, Unicorn Overlord, and more. If Sony's recent fiscal report shows anything, it's that PlayStation is turning into a bona fide money printer. Yes, PS5 has surpassed 80 million units sold, and that in and of itself is a substantial figure. But the more interesting numbers reside in the financials, where the brand netted more in profit in a single three month period than it did for much of entire previous generations. That's completely insane. So let's discuss PlayStation's meteoric growth, what it means, and how Sony may be doing all of this with one arm tied behind its back. Plus: Media Molecule loses its final founding member, the new BioShock game is in trouble, Lost Soul Aside goes gold, Starfield is rumored to be PS5-bound in 2026, Darksiders 4 gets announced, Silent Hill F brings the franchise into an action-oriented direction, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is PlayStation Plus fundamentally underrated? Could Battlefield 6 outsell Call of Duty: Black Ops 7? Are we on the verge of having to verify our identity on PSN? Will Colin travel to a nearby town to try and find life-sized box art of the old game X-Blades? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro0:27:20 - Derek

Is your PlayStation 5 about to break? Probably not, but speculation is increasingly circulating suggesting that the old run of PS5s -- pre-Slim and pre-Pro -- may start running into a 'liquid metal' problem that's causing issues for some players. What does this all mean, from where does this speculation stem, and what (if anything) can be done about it? We discuss in detail. Plus: Death Stranding 2 is out, and thus it's time for us to gush! Then: The other news of the week, including Hellblade II's PS5 release date, rumors of RPG progression systems in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, PlayStation Plus turns 15, SEGA accidentally leaks a ton of sales data, and more. Finally: Listener inquiries. What's the best 'one-hit wonder' game? With PlayStation: The Concert coming Stateside, do we have any interest in attending? Which studio's three-game run is most impressive, quality-wise? Will you, too, find a Sacred Symbols shirt in your local Goodwill or Salvation Army? The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remake in Unreal 5 is all but confirmed this week as we see screenshots leak to the internet. One clever social media user also tricked a customer service bot (likely powered by AI) to confirm the release. Sounds like AI is still making lots of mistakes like not following NDAs, oops! Sometimes a rumor has so much smoke there is certainly fire, so we look to this remake and how likely we are to pick it up. All this news and much more make up another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio! Also in the News: * Switch 2 Preorder Process for US Finalized * Mario Kart World Direct * Xbox Stream your own Game * PlayStation Plus Price Hike in some Countries All this and more on the show where EVERY gamer has a voice-- Orange Lounge Radio! This week we aim for 80% fun, kicking things off with TWO games we have been really enjoying. Jocelyn dives into the rogue-like puzzle game Blue Prince, while Ryan has started and completed his journey through South of Midnight. Over in the news, Apple TV+ has cancelled Mythic Quest, Bungie shares first details on Marathon, PlayStation Plus raises prices in Canada, and that Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake is actually real.
There's still a mystery afoot for when Nintendo is planning to drop pre-orders for the Switch 2 and we might have some leads. After the fun Nitnendo, tariff talks we dive deep into Bungie's reveal for Marathon. Does it look good? Is there an audience for it? What can they do to build hype? In this week's episode of The Game Deflators Podcast, John and Ryan dive into some of the hottest gaming news and controversies. First, they break down the latest PlayStation Plus price hikes affecting over 20 different countries, discussing what this means for gamers. Is the subscription service still worth the cost? Next, they examine a recent study by Newzoo on video game microtransactions, exploring how in-game purchases shape player behavior and the gaming industry as a whole. Are microtransactions a necessary evil, or are they pushing the limits of what players are willing to spend? Finally, the duo takes a nostalgic trip back to the NES era with a review of Battletoads—a game notorious for its punishing difficulty. Does the cult classic still hold up, or is it best left in the past?
