This week, Ben and Zach are joined by two organizers based in Palestine-Israel whose lives and political journeys inform powerful reflections on displacement, state oppression, solidarity, and the possibilities of joint struggle.Kastuś, originally from Minsk, has moved through various diasporic contexts—Belarus, Australia, and now Tel Aviv — shares his path from growing up under authoritarianism to joining the Belarusian uprising in 2020, and working with Kompass Media (Ep. 26) and on his own to alleviate harm and expose the reality of state (and state-backed) violence.Mohammed, a 48' Palestinian from Umm al-Fahm, brings deep insight from growing up as part of an activist family and community, and reflects on his experience as a Palestinian student at an Israeli university in the wake of October 7.Our conversation draws provocative parallels between the histories of European Jews and Palestinians—without flattening their differences—as a way to think about shared experiences of dispossession, repression, and resistance. On this 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, it is as important as ever to reject nationalist histories and challenge all forms of domination and hate.Learn more a bout the Polish-Belarusian (EU) Border Refugee crisis and consider supporting activists here! „Melancholie“, „Wahnsinn“, „Hysterie“. Deviation occurs when people harbour bad intentions (Niyyah) or possess a flawed understanding (Fahm) of text (Qur'an and Sunnah), or both. In this episode of the explanation of 'Ad Daa wad Dawaa' (The Disease and the Cure) by Imam Ibn al Qayyim, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan unveils the mistakes and corruption in the beliefs of sects such as the Jabriyyah, the Khawaarij, and the Murji'ah. Furthermore, he explains the statements of Imam Ibn al Qayyim on various groups deceived by wishful thinking and those who misinterpret the verses of the Qur'an. Among them are people who erroneously believe that their love for righteous servants of Allah alone guarantees salvation on the Day of Judgment. Another faction comprises those who selectively adhere to verses emphasising Allah's mercy while disregarding the verses that mention Allah's anger and warnings, thereby using them to justify their sinful behaviour and fulfil their desires. Ustadh also compares their mistakes in 'Aqeedah with the beliefs of Ahl as-Sunnah and discusses the right approach to the Qur'an and hadiths to avoid going astray. Special live episode with audience recorded at Soho House Jaffa and produced by the amazing TLV International Salon! check them out at www.tlvsalon.com *** Picture this: Yahya Mahamid, an Israeli-born Muslim from the city of Umm el-Fahm, posts a simple photograph to Facebook. On the surface, it seems like just another post, but this singular act reverberates through his life, shaking his world to its very core. The backdrop? A grim headline about three Jewish teenagers who've gone missing in the West Bank. For Yahya, this wasn't just news; it was a deeply personal event, with one of the teenagers being his same age. But as the notifications began pouring in, the weight of that one post, that one choice, became evident. His world was turned upside down, his life redefined by a single click. So, what does life look like when your entire narrative is shifted by a fleeting online moment? Join us as we journey through Yahya's captivating tale. Yahya Mahamid is a trailblazing Israeli educator, activist, and mentor, fervently dedicated to the empowerment and integration of Israel's Arab youth. A rare Israeli-Muslim who stepped forward to volunteer in the IDF, he's now diligently working towards his B.A. in Education at Ono Academic College. As a formidable advocate against anti-Semitism and misinformation, Yahya ceaselessly champions dialogue and understanding. We're thrilled to welcome him to the Two Nice Jewish Boys Podcast for this very special live episode at Soho House TLV.

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Editor David Horovitz and political correspondent Carrie Keller-Lynn join host Amanda Borschel-Dan. From Saturday night, Israel no longer requires the use of masks in closed environments, aside from elderly facilities, hospitals, and air travel. Former COVID czar Prof. Roni Gamzu has also said that airport checks are now “unreasonable.” Will they soon be done away with as well? The past week's Passover holiday brought a record 4,600 Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount. Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai made a statement last night saying that Israeli Jews are increasingly flouting the status quo and praying on the Temple Mount. Where does Horovitz see this going? On Friday, the Mayor of Umm al-Fahmm Samir Subhi Mahamed told off a group of young, masked men who were protesting Israeli actions at the Jerusalem holy site by trying to block traffic from entering the city. Why is this noteworthy? Yamina MK Amichai Chickli is in the hot seat tomorrow. Ra'am has announced it will not be attending. Keller-Lynn tells us more about these hearings. Former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu ate his traditional mufletta last night. What was the atmosphere like? Discussed articles include: Former COVID czar calls for end to airport tests for arrivals Diaspora minister warns of a ‘deterioration' of the Temple Mount status quo Mayor of Arab town of Umm al-Fahm confronts residents for rioting over Temple Mount Report: Ra'am to boycott Knesset hearing on ousting Yamina rebel MK from party ‘We're coming back,' Netanyahu tells invigorated supporters, as government teeters Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts. SPECIAL THANKS to Krystl Fabella with Filipina on the Rise for allowing us to share this timely interview to our audience! Check out our sister podcast at https://filipinaontherise.com/ (https://filipinaontherise.com/) Title (As seen on Filipina on the Rise): Go Inwards for Activism! Voting, Personal Activism & more with Jen & Nani of The Filipino American Woman Project – Voting, Personal Activism & more! Description: Wrapping up FAHM, we have Jen Amos & Nani Dominguez, the hosts of The Filipino American Woman Project, a Podcast that covers stories & life lessons told by American women of Filipino descent. Jen is the founder and co-host of TFAW. She is an award winning podcaster and online entrepreneur, an advocate for promoting personal narratives. She runs 4 different podcasts, and her favorite topics to cover on her shows involve military families, entrepreneurs, women, and mental health. In August 2020, Jen Amos participated as a speaker for PodFest Global, In addition to the media platforms, events, groups, and organizations Jen has been fortunate to be a guest speaker at throughout the years, her favorite medium of speaking has been through podcasting. Nani is the other co-host of the podcast. By the way of her biracial identity, she offers an intersectional perspective that allows listeners to be vulnerable and explore their most authentic narratives. In addition to podcasting, Nani is a blogger on her blog Notesbynani.com, which she writes to normalize the neoteric Fil-Am experience, and hopes to serve others going through identity crises, relationship issues, processing generational trauma, and other mental health issues prevalent in our families and culture. Together, Jen and Nani create a safe space for fellow Filipinx-Americans to contemplate our shared cultural/family experience, lived & inherited traumas, and the history of our heritage, people & land. Before October, I reached out to the two to do a collaborative episode. We know that the theme this year was highlighting of Filipino American activism. Being that we were both platforms sharing a mission of highlighting Pinays, I thought it would be meaningful to have a discussion specifically for Filipino women and activism. In thinking about FAHM, election season, and so much discourse around political, social and racial justice, calling people to step up and take a stance, we wanted to share how activsm can take on several forms, and to encourage ways that felt personal and natural, for example, we love that podcasting has been a medium for our activism too. Everyone, get ready to be along for a ride. This discussion got rich, and real so fast, with lots of powerful insight. In this episode, we discuss everything from voting, various non traditional ways to show up as an activist, plugging into current events and taking care of mental health, we talk about taking personal responsibility, how to deal with overwhelm of issues to care about and narrow down topics, we share vulnerable experiences, and things get even emotional, and end with a really powerful message. Remember to check out our sister podcast at https://filipinaontherise.com/ (https://filipinaontherise.com/)
FAHM, otherwise known as Filipino American Heritage Month is widely celebrated in California and perhaps other states in the US as well. Filipino Americans are the second largest Asian American group in the nation and the third-largest ethnic group in California, after Latinas/os and African Americans. ~ http://fanhs-national.org/There are many ways to celebrate or honor FAHM but due to COVID, so many celebrations and festivals have been canceled, postponed, or transitioned virtually. Palestinian Arabs are 20% of Israel's population. They have the same rights and obligations like every Israeli: they vote, pay taxes, they get social support and medical insurance, and their children go to public schools funded by the state. But what do Israeli arabs really think about Israel? If you ask the Arab members of parliament, the answer will be contempt: contempt from the discrimination which they claim goes way back to the beginning of the state, from the fact that Israel is occupying territories in Judea and Sameria, and from many other reasons. Those Members of Knneset serve in the Israeli parliament, but they refuse to recognize the legitimacy of the State of Israel as home to the Jewish people. But do those members of parliament represent all Israeli Arabs? In recent years, more and more Israeli Palestinians promote another voice, a voice that says - I'm an Arab, and I'm zionist. But how could those two statements coexist? Yayha Mahamid was born in Umm Al-Fahm, one of the largest arab cities in Israel. A city which is not well known for it's sympathy towards the country of which it's a part of. Nothing in Yahya's path led him to be like any other Umm Al-Fahm-born kid, and his direction towards hatred was a clear one. But at a young age something happened which has led him to see everything differently, and to become, as he defines himself, an Israeli-Arab-Zionist. Since then Yahya has devoted his life to fight the BDS movement around the world, as part of the Stand With Us organisation. He joins 2NJB to talk about his view on life in Israel. A little about StandWithUs: Stand With Us (SWU) is a sixteen year-old, international, non-profit Israel education organization. Through fellowships, conferences, materials, social media, educational films and missions to Israel, StandWithUs supports people around the world who want to educate their campuses and communities about Israel.
