Ma dopo un po' non voleva più passare il tempo con me; voleva solo stare con il mio corpo», scrive Crystalina Evert. C'è una battaglia tra amore e sensualità dentro il cuore di ognuno. «Dietro tutte le vanterie per le conquiste sessuali di qualche serata in discoteca, ogni ragazzo nutre un desiderio più profondo, quello di amare una ragazza», aggiunge Jason. E quanto scrivono in Aspettare si può (Fede e Cultura 2023, pp. 159) Jason e Crystalina Evert, attualmente marito e moglie, in un appassionante racconto a quattro mani che riprende in maniera dialogica le loro risposte sul tema del sottotitolo: "Purezza e sessualità alla prova del mondo di oggi". Riscoprire tale chiamata, che vale in egual modo per uomini e donne, comporta certo lo sforzo di andare al di là della volontà di "usare l'altro" per il proprio piacere. D'altra parte «quando un ragazzo immagina la sua futura sposa, per esempio, non pensa di ottenere qualcosa da lei. Pensa di donarle la sua vita», afferma Jason.E, allo stesso modo, «ogni donna vuole ardentemente l'amore, ma molte di noi hanno sofferto e rinunciato a quello vero. Cominciamo col dirci che l'amore non esiste oppure che non lo meritiamo. Invece esiste e noi ne siamo degne», ribadisce con forza Crystalina.«Tutto quello che le ragazze vogliono è un gentiluomo, un uomo che sappia come onorare una donna nel modo appropriato». Di qui Jason offre diversi consigli anche per vivere bene la fase del corteggiamento, dal prendere l'iniziativa per il primo appuntamento al prepararlo con cura, dal lasciare che al ristorante ordini prima lei, sino al pagamento del conto. Insomma «se hai la sensazione di esserti messo a servizio, stai facendo la cosa giusta», puntualizza.Relativamente al tema della sessualità, Jason invita a «trattare le ragazze nel modo in cui vorresti che un ragazzo tratti la tua futura sposa». Egli constata in realtà una certa schizofrenia da parte dei giovani rispetto allo standard che si pongono per le loro sorelle, futura moglie o figlie e quello che invece riservano alla fidanzata in termini di rispetto della persona, e dunque anche della sua corporeità.Infatti «la qualità dell'amore di un uomo verso una donna si misura dal suo grado di responsabilità nei suoi confronti», osserva con fermezza Jason. D'altra parte, come ha rilevato una ricerca dell'Heritage Foundation, «quanto prima una ragazza ha una relazione sessuale, tanto più potrà soffrire dei seguenti problemi: avere una gravidanza al di fuori del matrimonio; diventare una ragazza madre; contrarre malattie sessualmente trasmissibili; avere diversi partner sessuali; andare incontro a spaccature nelle relazioni; abortire; ridursi in povertà; esser soggetta a depressione; divorziare».Di qui «quando una donna vuole essere impura, l'uomo che la ama deve avere sufficiente controllo sul proprio corpo, e abbastanza premura per l'anima di entrambi, da riuscire a dirle di no», in quanto «un vero uomo non approfitterebbe mai di una donna che non conosce il proprio valore». Certo Jason riconosce l'eroismo che richiede tale impresa, quella di custodire la castità propria e altrui; «ma, attraverso la battaglia per la purezza, un ragazzo giunge ad apprezzare una donna come un dono che deve essere ricevuto, non un obiettivo da conquistare».IL DESIDERIO SESSUALE È UN DONO DI DIOA questo punto Jason approfondisce il tema focalizzando l'attenzione sulla sessualità nel progetto divino.Ricorda dunque che «il desiderio sessuale è un dono di Dio. L'attrazione sessuale è l'invito. La lussuria è quando accettiamo quell'invito nella maniera sbagliata, fuori dalla nostra chiamata all'amore». Tale dinamica è opportunamente illuminata dalle parole di sant'Agostino: «La lussuria assecondata diventa un'abitudine e l'abitudine cui non si resiste diventa necessità». Di qui Jason suggerisce innanzitutto ai giovani di imparare a vigilare sui propri pensieri, dal momento che «se riesci a controllare i tuoi pensieri sulle donne, controllerai le tue parole, i tuoi occhi e le tue azioni. Dio si preoccupa della purezza dei tuoi pensieri, perché essi rivelano lo stato del tuo cuore».Si tratta, in special modo per il credente, di imparare a «pensare a una donna senza desiderarla sessualmente, chiedendo a Dio la grazia di riuscire a vederla nel modo in cui Lui la vede». Se «Dio ha assegnato come un dovere a ogni uomo la dignità di ogni donna», come osservava acutamente san Giovanni Paolo II, bisogna impegnarsi a custodire il proprio sguardo evitando quella pornografia che degrada la dignità della persona rendendo l'uomo «un ingordo mai sazio».Oggi sono tanti i single allettati dalla fantasia di avere donne perfette sempre a propria disposizione al punto da rifuggire «la possibilità di un rifiuto da parte di una donna o del peso dell'impegno. Si ripiegano su se stessi e non sperimentano mai la gioia dell'amore sacrificale, per paura delle sue richieste».In tal senso la masturbazione, spesso legata al consumo di pornografia, «non è nemmeno l'ombra dell'amore»; è soltanto uno sterile ripiegamento su se stessi che tradisce il fine oggettivo dell'atto sessuale, che è l'unione tra l'uomo e la donna e la procreazione di una nuova vita, e per di più «rafforza l'idea che l'uomo necessiti di gratificazione sessuale in qualunque momento lo desideri e danneggia la capacità di amare, perché si resta legati a fantasie». Inoltre la masturbazione «indebolisce l'idea che un uomo ha di se stesso e lo rende schiavo della sua debolezza», l'esatto opposto delle qualità di coraggio, sicurezza e forza che una donna ricerca in un uomo.IL SESSO SICURO È UN MITO«Il sesso sicuro è un mito», sostiene ancora Jason riguardo all'uso del preservativo che, secondo recenti studi americani, proteggerebbe soltanto in minima parte dal rischio di contrarre malattie sessualmente trasmissibili, tra cui in particolare herpes, Hpv (papilloma virus), clamidia e gonorrea a livello dell'apparato genitale femminile. Riflettendo ancora sul significato del profilattico - «segno esteriore di un egoismo: stai proteggendo te stesso» - e del "sesso protetto", egli evidenzia con franchezza che «se devi proteggerti nel momento in cui dovresti far dono di te stesso, c'è qualcosa che non va. Perché questa paura? Se non sei pronto a essere padre, allora non sei pronto per il sesso». Al contrario l'«autocontrollo ti rende libero di amare». D'altra parte «il marito sa che dare via la tua libertà per amore ti salva da te stesso. Ti libera, perché ti rende libero di amare».Certamente il cammino per custodire la purezza è impegnativo, per cui richiede l'aiuto della grazia divina.Di qui Jason invita i giovani a porsi obiettivi realistici; a fuggire la pigrizia e le tentazioni evitando le occasioni di peccato; a vigilare sugli occhi e le parole; a digiunare, poiché «la gola è l'avanguardia dell'impurità» (Escrivà); a pregare, invocando in special modo l'angelo custode, la Vergine Maria, San Giuseppe e i santi; a perseverare con pazienza senza cedere allo scoraggiamento; a confessarsi e comunicarsi frequentemente per ricevere da Dio la forza di vincere la concupiscenza della carne.Jason affronta infine il tema dell'omosessualità, sottolineando come «anche se le persone hanno attrazioni di questo tipo», possano cioè provare pulsioni omoerotiche, «i loro corpi restano eterosessuali, cioè fisicamente orientati verso l'altro sesso». Di qui ricorda che «i desideri sessuali non costituiscono la sua identità»; pertanto anche chi sente tali pulsioni può imparare ad amare accogliendo la sfida di uno stile di vita casto, «scegliendo di glorificare Dio con il proprio corpo».Insomma, come ogni virtù, la castità richiede a ciascuno impegno e spirito di sacrificio ma, per dirla con san Giovanni Paolo II, è «la via infallibile alla gioia».CASTITÀ NELLA DONNA È CUSTODIRE IL CORPO PER CUSTODIRE IL CUORE«Sono una ragazza occasionale o una ragazza per sempre?». Si apre con questa domanda provocatoria la riflessione di Crystalina Evert, che poi aggiunge: «Non avere paura che qualche ragazzo possa piantarti se non gli concedi il tuo corpo. Lascia che lui abbia paura di perdere te, a meno che non capisca come rispettarti. Nel mio giro di amici la verginità era vista come una imbarazzante mancanza di esperienza. Ti faceva sentire una puritana oppure una che non riusciva ad avere un appuntamento. Era praticamente una maledizione». Ella racconta così la sua esperienza, dall'ossessione di avere un corpo perfetto all'accettazione di sé; dal vestirsi secondo la moda per sedurre al «vestirsi con semplicità, scoprendo la sicurezza che viene dal rispetto per se stessi». D'altra parte «è più emozionante essere amata da un uomo o essere fissata con sguardo ebete da molti?». Su questo punto osserva ancora acutamente che «ciò che li vince è ciò che li tratterrà. Every single one of us has a feminine genius -- a particular way that the Lord is inviting us to bring forth new life into the world.
