O Cântico dos Cânticos chama a amada de “jardim fechado”, “nascente fechada” e “fonte selada”, imagens de uma riqueza que não está abandonada à passagem de qualquer pessoa, mas protegida porque possui valor.A Assunção de Nossa Senhora mostra que o caminho para Deus não é o da conquista orgulhosa, como na Torre de Babel, mas o de deixar-se conduzir por Ele. Para entrar no santuário é preciso preparação, pureza de mãos e de coração, como recorda o salmo. Até a roupa pode expressar exteriormente esse respeito, como no episódio de quem, vestido para a praia, preferiu permanecer do lado de fora de uma igreja por reconhecer que aquele espaço merecia outra disposição. Mas o pudor vai muito além da roupa. Ele protege o corpo, os sentimentos, os segredos, a intimidade familiar e até a própria vida espiritual. Nem tudo precisa ser publicado, contado ou exposto. Há experiências que crescem justamente porque permanecem guardadas, como a “vida escondida com Cristo em Deus”.O pudor também não é medo do corpo, desprezo da sexualidade ou timidez. Pelo contrário, ele protege a possibilidade de amar alguém como pessoa e não apenas como corpo. Uma jovem contou que usava roupas provocantes porque era insegura e precisava perceber os olhares dos rapazes para sentir-se desejada. Com o tempo, percebeu que estava atraindo atenção pelo motivo errado. Crystalina Evert resume esse risco ao recordar que uma mulher pode chamar os olhares para si ou ajudar a elevar os corações. São João Paulo II, na Teologia do Corpo, mostra que o corpo foi criado para manifestar a pessoa e permitir uma verdadeira comunhão. Depois do pecado, surge o perigo de reduzir o outro a objeto. O pudor cria uma distância que, paradoxalmente, permite uma proximidade muito maior, porque abre espaço para enxergar aquilo que o Pequeno Príncipe recorda: o essencial não se vê apenas com os olhos.Pureza não significa viver sem paixão. Um rio estreitado entre pedras ganha velocidade; um carro potente precisa de controle para que sua força não termine em acidente. Assim também o amor cresce quando paixão e domínio de si caminham juntos. O branco e o vermelho aparecem como símbolos dessa união: pureza e ardor, razão e entrega, pão e vinho, túnica branca lavada no sangue do Cordeiro. Mesmo quem carrega um passado marcado por quedas pode recomeçar, porque a loucura do pecado encontra uma resposta ainda maior na loucura do amor de Cristo na Cruz. A pureza continua sendo possível pela graça, pela misericórdia e pela ajuda de Nossa Senhora, que nos ensina a resguardar o que é santo para amar com mais liberdade, profundidade e força.
