The beginning of a new year is a time when many of us are reflecting on how we want to lead, communicate, and relate—both at work and in our personal lives. Conflict can feel draining or uncomfortable for so many of us, but today's episode offers a grounded reframe and shows you what's possible when we move from fear and misunderstanding into collaboration, clarity, and connection. In this episode, I'm joined by leadership expert, author, and podcast host, David Dye. David uses his deep passion for helping people truly understand one another to guide human-centered leaders through difficult conversations. You'll hear how this calling showed up for him early in life, and how that curiosity about how people work together has shaped decades of leadership work.Intentional language can change the tone and outcome of even the most difficult conversations. We explore how simple shifts in the words we use can lower defensiveness and create understanding, and why conflict itself isn't a problem, but an invitation to slow down, get curious, and truly hear one another.Whether you're leading a team or seeking better communication in your relationships, this conversation offers practical tools and powerful phrases to help you understand other perspectives and practice human-centered leadership and connection. What you'll learn:Why human-centered leadership depends on moving from destructive conflict to productive collaborationThe four key dimensions that create understanding and alignment: connection, clarity, curiosity, and commitmentSimple phrases that lower defensiveness and open the door to real dialogueWhy checking for mutual understanding is one of the most critical leadership skillsHow clear commitments and follow-through build trust and prevent repeated conflictYou can read the full show notes here.About David DyeDavid Dye helps human-centered leaders find clarity in uncertainty, drive innovation, and achieve breakthrough results. EPISODE SUMMARY What if empathy was your biggest business advantage? In this episode, serial entrepreneur and inventor Patrick Noel Daly (founder of Icon Global Innovations, PND Global Consulting, and PND Entrepreneurship Academies) joins us to share how he builds purpose-driven companies that heal, not harm. From his early days as Ireland's Young Entrepreneur of the Year to mentoring founders across the U.S., Patrick reveals how to scale your mission without burning out. We explore innovation as a habit, leadership through empathy, and the art of balancing success with health and happiness. We talked about... ... Cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset ... How to grow companies that do good AND do well ... The powerful question every innovator should be asking EPISODE NOTES Patrick Noel Daly (PND) is a seasoned entrepreneur who has founded his own startups in IT, SaaS and medical. Patrick founded Icon Global Innovations to launch his own products and he also founded PND Global Consulting to help companies, businesses, and entrepreneurs to succeed. He was a winner on the Late Late Enterprise Show in Ireland in 1998 with a special school bag that he designed to help kids carry heavy loads of books. Patrick Noel was Bank of Ireland/Shell Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Ireland in 1999. Patrick now licenses his own established products to licensees and resellers in medical care and healthcare, having invented and developed these medical innovations to provide products that are "good for people", which he says was his primary reason for inventing the products. He wants to scale that product range in the USA and to make DreamCair and CUSHEE, the consumer versions available in the sleep/wellness market in the USA and wider. Since moving to the western side of the world, Patrick has been a mentor (volunteer roles) with iCorps National Science Foundation USA. Patrick is originally from Cork, Ireland and has travelled the world on business. He started writing while travelling globally for leisure and to help mentor entrepreneurs over the last four years. Patrick loves to socialize and talk to as many people as possible on his travels. He has written "Just Start Up-A Guide to Building Startups" and more recently he wrote and launched his first children's book "A Young Hero Triceratops Named NOLY" to help encourage kids to think about entrepreneurship, resourcefulness and helping others from the earliest age. Success in real estate doesn't need to mean sacrificing your peace, your family, or your faith.Listen as I share my story on the Life at Ten Tenths podcast. We unpack how I built a 650-home, referral-driven real estate business without cold calling, open houses, or buying leads—while protecting my marriage, family time, and faith.Huge thank you to my friends at Life at Ten Tenths for having me on! Check them out here: https://www.lifeattentenths.com/Key TakeawaysIdentity isn't a backpack: Your faith and values aren't something you take on and off—lead with the real you.Redefine success: Don't wear the industry's scorecard; include profit, marriage, family rhythms, and rest in how you “keep score.”Hierarchy of attention: God → spouse → kids → work. Give the best of your attention to what matters most.Build for probability, not possibility: Create simple systems you can execute 90–100% of the time—even when life happens.Taste and tweak: Run “recipes” for 30 days, then iterate. Did you do all the ingredients? Did the result match the goal?Community is a business moat: People have fewer close relationships than ever—be a real friend and referrals follow.Authenticity attracts: You won't be for everyone, and that's the point. The right people will lean in.Chapters (with timestamps)Relationship-First Origin Story — [02:30]Is the Industry Failing Agents? — [05:04]Redefining Success: The “Dash” & Legacy — [10:53]Building Structure: 50 Deals Under 40 Hours/Week — [13:04]Marriage, Communication & Alignment — [16:00]Hierarchy of Attention (God → Spouse → Kids → Work) — [19:17]How to Maintain Your Database & Earn Referrals — [21:00]Unlocking Referrals vs. Just Repeat Business — [28:27]PDA Formula & “Taste and Tweak” Lead-Gen Recipes — [31:04]Consistency Through Hardship; Client Love Stories — [33:01]Faith-Forward Branding: The 2:10 Collective — [34:41]Authenticity as Strategy (and Why It Attracts) — [41:47]⭐️ Rate & Review:If this episode challenged or encouraged you, leave a 5-star review and share it with another Christian agent who needs to hear this message. In the latest episode of The Digital Banking Podcast, host Josh DeTar sat down with Katie DeFeo, VP and Chief Experience Officer at SunWest Credit Union. They explored how credit unions could stand out in a crowded digital landscape by leading with authenticity and human connection, even as banking became more commoditized and tech-driven.DeFeo explained why building a genuine, approachable brand mattered more than ever. She shared how SunWest focused on delivering experiences that felt personal—whether in a branch or through a mobile app. For DeFeo, it was not enough to match rates or adopt the latest technology. Instead, she encouraged credit unions to communicate in plain language, share real stories, and empower staff to help members in memorable ways. The conversation highlighted the challenge of scaling digital transformation without losing soul. DeFeo described SunWest's approach to blending technology with bold, human storytelling, and why being willing to disrupt old habits was key to staying relevant.

Episode 102: Carrie Delgott is the President, COO, and CCO at Wescott Financial Advisory Group. With over 25 years in financial services—including two decades at Vanguard—Carrie brings deep expertise to the evolving RIA landscape. At Wescott, she has helped guide the firm through transformative initiatives like B Corp certification, major acquisitions, and the development of their Life-Minded Wealth framework, all while prioritizing employee engagement, client experience, and sustainable scale. This week, Kyle talks with Carrie about how values and vision can power meaningful scale. They dive into Wescott's journey as a B Corp, their involvement in the Net Positive Consortium, and how their Life-Minded Wealth philosophy puts people—not just portfolios—at the center of everything. Carrie shares lessons from integrating a billion-dollar acquisition, insights on the future of the industry, and why technology, culture, and intentionality are key to building a standout firm in a crowded market. In this episode: (00:00) - Intro (01:48) - Carrie's money moment (04:03) - What B Corp Certification really means (07:21) - Why B Corp matters for RIAs (09:21) - The Net Positive Consortium and its five pillars (11:45) - What sets Wescott apart (13:09) - Westcott's Life-Minded Wealth philosophy (15:27) - Scaling an RIA with intention (20:32) - Lessons from a $1B acquisition (26:12) - Consolidating tech stacks for growth (29:30) - Carrie's outlook on the future of wealth management (32:57) - Carrie's Milemarker Minute Key Takeaways Growth is about absorption, not just acquisition. Successfully integrating people and culture is just as important as the deal itself. Without alignment, you lose the opportunity for true scale. Values attract top talent. Wescott's B Corp status and purpose-driven approach resonate deeply with next-gen advisors who want to do meaningful work. Scale is relative—and evolving. As the industry shifts, even mid-sized firms must rethink what growth looks like and how to build infrastructure that supports it. Quotes "We're not looking to have technology replace that human interaction, but we certainly are looking for it to make us more and more efficient." ~ Carrie Delgott "Acquisitions are not for the faint of heart. Just because you can afford a practice doesn't mean you can absorb a practice." ~ Carrie Delgott "If you're not going to integrate and you're not going to come to some best practices for how you're going to work on behalf of our clients going forward, then you just lost all of the scale and efficiency opportunities." ~ Carrie Delgott Links Carrie Delgott on LinkedIn Wescott Financial Advisory Group Vanguard Grant Rawdin Net Positive: How Courageous Companies Thrive by Giving More Than They Take Life-Minded Wealth Salesforce The Psychology of Money Connect with our hosts Milemarker.co Kyle on LinkedIn Jud on LinkedIn Subscribe and stay in touch Apple Podcasts Spotify YouTube Produce game-changing content with Turncast Turncast helps your company grow by producing top-quality content and fostering transformative conversations. It occurred to me recently that it is significant that the invisible enemy of our souls is called “the Evil One” in both the Lord's Prayer and in such passages as 1 John 5:19. That is, our adversary is never named, but only referred to obliquely. He is also referred to as “the Adversary” from the Hebrew word for adversary “satan” (see e.g. the curse in Psalm 109:6 which reads “Appoint a wicked man over him and let a satan stand at his right hand”). This Hebrew word was transliterated into the Greek as Σατάν/ Satan and used as a title in such passages as 1 Thessalonians 2:18. He is also referred to as “the Slanderer” (Greek δίαβολος/ diabololos), usually rendered in English as “the Devil”. Note: all these words are titles, not names; they are in fact verbal circumlocutions used to avoid mentioning his actual name.

Insights: Jason: "I remember a quote from Pope John Paul the second where he said, Love is a constant challenge thrown to us by God. And so simmer on that for a little bit. God is throwing you a challenge of love. The love isn't merely a feeling. There is a feeling sometimes, but Love is an act of the will. The kind that consists of preferring the good of the other to the good of the self." Liz: "I was struck by the culture of tenderness as well as the self-mastery. It goes back to what Dave often says, "A healthy we is made up of a healthy we." So I am goiung to be thinking a lot about tenderness and self-mastery through out the day after this interview." Dave: " The main theme that runs through all of this is this "outward mindset". It's not about me, it's not about the self self self! It's about an outward mindset and taking into account the other person and seeing the world from their perspective."
