By Pastor Brandon Dirmann We are in a series using the book "Stepping Into The Kingdom", helping us GROW This series about the Kingdom of God and fully stepping into it LAST week we talked about WHAT the Kingdom of God is and HOW we step into it (Experience full freedom under God's rule) We talked about three essential steps. 1) Salvation / 2) Water Baptism / 3) The Baptism of the Holy Spirit TONIGHT as we continue we are going to talk about THE CHURCH CHURCH is not a building, CHURCH is not a program, CHURCH is not a product. CHURCH IS A PEOPLE CHURCH is the people of God (Followers of Jesus) and it is GLOBAL and LOCAL for the purpose of reaching the world Psalms 92:13-14 (NKJV) - Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) - And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Both of these scriptures tell us how important CHURCH is to our lives. Psalm 92 says that those who are planted in the house of God shall flourish and no matter what life throws at it will continue to flourish. Hebrews say DON'T stop getting together and encouraging and challenging one another so that we can live out God's full potential. ? BUT WHY ? #1. Church Is Family John 1:12 (NKJV) - But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. Galatians 3:26 (NKJV) - For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. When we were saved we were born again into the family of God and became the sons and daughters of God. We're a part of His family. Ephesians 3:14-15 (NKJV) - For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, Paul tells us that the family of God is both here on earth and in heaven. This family is spiritual and it is eternal. #2. Church Is A Body Romans 12:3-5 (NKJV) - For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Each of us have been given unique gifts and abilities for the purpose of building the church (the body) and advancing God's Kingdom (Reaching people). ? WHAT DO YOU HAVE ? - Don't hold it back or and store it away. You are not complete without the body and the body is not complete without you. #3. Church Is An Army Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) -  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV) - For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, The Bible tells us that we are in a spiritual battle and that the enemy wants to take us out. Why? So that he can stop us from being a part of the body and advancing His Kingdom. We have to begin to think like an army and be mission minded and also defend one another so we can fight good fight Acts 4:31 (NKJV) - And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. When we engage in prayer and spiritually are a part of the fight we see the power of God released and supernatural things begin to happen as God's Kingdom is advanced SO our response is to ENGAGE THE FAMILY, CONTRIBUTE TO THE BODY, AND FIGHT LIKE AN ARMY See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. - If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. - And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matthew 16:24-26 NLT There isn't a lackadaisical don't give your heart to the effort option in following Jesus. The God journey doesn't require perfection but it does require a heart that wants to follow His.God Followers are Focused He who does not value Jesus above all, does not value Him at all... AugustineI once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. Philippians 3:7-9 NLTFollowers focus on Jesus: on who he is, who he says we are, and on what matters to him.Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. Philippians 3:13-14 MSGGod Followers are FerventFor this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord. 2 Timothy 1:6-8 MSGI know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! You say, I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing! And you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. Revelation 3:15-1NLTSo I advise you to buy gold from me gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. Revelation 3:18-19 NLTLuke warm and loving it is not a life I want to live. No Abiding means no Abounding.God Followers are FaithfulLet us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Hebrews 10:23 NLTBut the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 NLTNo Reserves, No Retreats, No RegretsThe power of perseverance is released in the life of the person who chooses to faithfully follow Jesus.

Every God-Follower Must Have Open yourself more to His power. How? Create these 4 essential habits into your life: 1. The Habit of Prayer Spend daily time with the Center of your Life, if He’s really the Center. Commune with Him. Let Him fill you with His love. People think I pray 3 hours a day. Not true. (They also think I levitate and chat with Moses and Elijah every 3am.) I pray a few minutes every morning, and at different times during the day, I keep connecting with God. 2. The Habit of Meditating The Word Chew on Scriptures. Many are spiritually malnourished. Because Jesus said, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4 NIV) Use the Daily Mass Readings. (Use Companion or Didache or Gabay to guide you on what to read.) 3. The Habit of Serving The Church Make the Feast your priority in your weekly schedule. And join a Light Group or a Feast Light or ministry. Journey with fellow God-Followers. The Bible says, Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer. (Hebrews 10:25 GNT) 4. The Habit of Sharing God’s Love Wake up each morning and become God’s Love in this world. When people experience you, let them experience Jesus. Care. Give. Serve. And tell people about Him.
