Luke 1:26-38 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His father David, 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” 35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Chris and Jonathan talk about having faith like Abraham. (Romans 4)
Rahab the harlot would have been a part of the destruction of Jericho had she been like the rest of Jericho. They all heard of the great and awesome things Almighty God was doing for His people, the Israelites, but only Rahab responded in faith to what she heard about God. Her faith was simple, saving, and working. What about you? How's your faith? What is God revealing to you that you need to respond in faith to?

In difficulty and hopelessness, God can still turn things around
Being a WW1 fighter pilot was gutsy. Kind of like being a radical Chrisitan today. When a pilot went up in one of those rickety biplanes, there was a high chance he wasn't coming back. As Christians, when we sign up for serious Christian living, it's kind of like climbing into a rickety WW1 biplane and taking off. It's a dangerous and difficult mission that is promised to be accompanied by a thousand challenges. But God designed us for this very adventure—and He built us to bring down the enemy while we are at it.

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our theme, "Defining Realities of True Faith. True faith trusts God for the impossible and unimaginable - What are you believing God for today? Our Scripture references were Galatians 3:6-9 and Romans 4:16. One person we can look to for the embodiment of true faith is Abraham; he believed and had hope in something that didn't seem hopeful--that God would make him into a great nation. Many of us, though we have saving faith, are drowning in the worries and cares of life. Give your worries back to God and renew your trust in him today. You can hear all the highlights of today's program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
