Eh, get it? They’re bringin’ Kethis back. Well regardless, overly complicated graveyard-based iterative combo decks and StanCifka go together like Erin and the “block” button. But it kind of came out of nowhere, so tell me: what’s the next big surprise deck to take the metagame by storm?

Worst Magic Moment As a brewer, Janus has felt the pain of working hard on a deck and it bombing. Proudest Magic Moment Making top 8 at a Grand Prix and going 7-0 on day 2. Deck Selection Janus took a deck he knew worked and tweaked it to beat the top 2 decks. Take note of what you wished you had / what you need for the match-up. Make your fine tune adjustment based on feedback from matches. Biggest Mistake Players Make Blindly following what everyone else does and not challenging the status quo of decks. And being too cautious. Parting Guidance Try new cards and ignore the naysayers. W/B Aggro may have won the Magic Online PTQ, but R/B Aggro was the dominant force at Grand Prix Birmingham. Six copies made the Top 8 and eventually took it down, and that sort of success came seemingly out of nowhere. Gerry was on the ground floor at GP Birmingham, so he knows how it all went down. Goblin Chainwhirler is having a massive effect on Standard, to the point where Llanowar Elves may not be playable. Is Goblin Chainwhirler a more egregious Rampaging Ferocidon? How did this happen?
