Allen is flying solo today, much like one of his favorite DC heroes Green Lantern. This episode is a personal review of Green Lantern Rebirth, the book that brought Hal Jordan back into the light and is one of the must need-to-read books in the DC library.
In Brightest day in Blackest night,No evil shall escape my sight,Let those who worship evils might,Beware my power, Green Lantern's Light! Green Lantern was very important the us here at Underground Inc. We rekindled our love of comics by reading the Blackest Night. Then later the movie came out and we were al stoked. We know this movie might not be everyone's favorite but it is one of ours for so many reasons. We share those with you as well as a whole bunch of Facts. Green Lantern was so important to us that Jeff even pulled Billy and Ben up to the DJ booth at Ben's wedding reception and had us recite it. RIP Jeff Crane This episode contains spoilers to this film and possible other movies. www.undergroundinc.infowww.facebook.com/undergroundinc3www.twitter.com/UndergroundInc3
Hello out there, denizens of the inter-webs, and thank you for downloading and listening to another awesome episode of Just One of the Guys, the greatest Green Lantern podcast that isn't The LanternCast...or the Green Lantern Corps...or Green Lantern's Light. This time out, we're continuing our look at the Green Lantern comics that feature Jenny Lynn Hayden/Jade as Earth's Green Lantern as we review Green Lantern #110, another Green Lantern/Green Arrow crossover. But with a twist! And the twist isn't that Conner is having to deal with Jenny as Green Lantern...no, the twist it that Green Arrow really is kind of secondary to the story. In fact, except for some "deus ex archery" he really doesn't play much of a role in the book, as this is essentially a wrap up story for the "Heart of Darkness" storyline. Not one of the best GL/GA team-ups from this era. But all the bad is more than balanced out by the Chuck Dixon penned prestige format book "The New Corps", wherin Kyle heads off into space in attempt to recruit...wait for it...a new Green Lantern Corps! And as usual, Dixon delivers an engaing story filled with action, whimsy, and incredibly fun characters. Plus the art by Scott Eaton is a nice change from the awkwardness of the Green Lantern issue. And as an added bonus, I was lucky enough to have Emily Middleton, host of Uncovering the Bronze Age and co-host of the Shortbox Showcase over at The Relatively Geeky Podcast Network, come on to help cover these issues. Seriously, I thought a Green Arrow/Green Lantern crossover would work with her show about the Bronze Age...how wrong I was. Regardless, you need to grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Hello lovely listeners, and welcome to this week's episode of Just One Of The Guys, the red-headed stepchild of the Two True Freaks podcast network. This week we're taking a slight break from the regular format and covering a prestige format book that deals with Green Lantern and the Silver Surfer. Wait, what? aren't they in different universes? Well, yes they are, but through the power of Oan science (and the fact that Marvel and DC didn't completely hate each other at the time) these two space based heroes were able to have a meet-up in the tradition of Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man from the 1970's. Plus we get some villain cameos from Thanos and Hal Jordan/Parallax (did he ever mention that's who he was?). And to aid me in my coverage of the book, I've snagged long lost podcasting host, Michael Bradley (The Thrilling Adventures Of Superman, Green Lantern's Light) to fill me in on the story as it relates to the upcoming DC vs. Marvel crossover. So, unless you want to know "WHAT'S IN THE BOX!!", I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Hello out there, you wonderful people you, and thanks for listening to another episode of Just One of the Guys. This week, our look at the Green Lantern and Guy Gardner books begins with Green Lantern #61, where Kyle and his snuggle bunny (I'm pretty certain that's the correct term Kevin Dooley mandated she be called) Donna Troy are having a nice little picnic...or the surface of Mars (Hope they didn't tell J'onn J'onnz, because he might be a little miffed with them cavorting all over the barren wasteland that was once his home). But the fun and finger sandwiches will have to wait for our duo, as the Overlord of Apokolips, Darkseid, has sent Kalibak to break up their happy-fun time. And Darkseid also does a little tag popping...whatever that means. Over with Guy, we get a trip to Metropolis in Action Comics 709 where our favorite morphing ginger tries to get some help dealing with his wacky alien hybrid DNA from the Man of Steel. But mostly what he gets is a beatdown in the Metropolis Tunnel, where they appear to be pretty lax in allowing people to transport hazardous materials. This leads into Guy Gardner Warrior #30, where we find out who would win in a fight between Guy and Superman...and strangely enough, the winner is actually SuperGIRL...who saw that coming? Plus we get Mitch Byrd drawing the Last Son of Krypton, which is always awesome for me. But the biggest bonus this episode is I have another wonderful guest host with me this time. Mr J David Weter, host of PAD Smash, Superman Forever Radio, and Green Lantern's Light amongst a myriad of others was kind enough to drop by and add his humor, wit, and charm to the show. Plus he did the synopsis for Action 709, so less work for me...huzzah! As always, David was a blast to have on the show, and you should definitely go check out his podcasts. So unless you want Darkseid to whip out his mad beats on his kickin' sound system, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening! Hello dear listeners, and welcome back to another Super episode of Just One of the Guys. Why so Super, you might ask? Well, for numerous reasons. One being the Green Lantern comic, Issue #46, which deals in a very tangential way with some event that was going on in the Superman books. All I know is Superman is stylin' in a bad-ass black suit with some rockin' 90's hair. And Hal is left mopping up Mongul in a truly epic battle that really can't be adequately described in an audio medium. Reason two is the Guy Gardner story, which crosses over with the Justice League, and wraps up the Yesterday's Sins story arc. It also allows Guy to blast his clone with a very 90's gun while riding in a modified, flying El Camino flown by Blue Beetle! Yes, it's as awesome as it sounds, which turns out isn't very awesome at all. However, reason three is definitely the most Super reason, becuase I am joined by podcaster extraordinaire Michael Bradley, who was so enthused to talk about the Green Lantern issue due to his love of Superman, and finally crestfallen when the Man of Steel had maybe two lines in the book. Plus he endured the Justice League issue as well, so I have to give him credit for that. So unless you want me to print the horrific images of the Wonder Woman blow up doll, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening. To hear more from Michael Bradley check him out at his other podcasts Green Lantern's Light and The Thrilling Adventures of Superman. And for a great read about the creators of Superman and myriad other DC Comics characters, check out Siegel & Shuster: Mythmakers. Thanks again go out to Michael Bradley for guesting on the show, and I can't wait to have him back again.
