Of all of Jack Kirby's creations at DC, the Fourth World is probably the most well known, the most expansive, and the most ill used by other creators over the years. Some really get the wild cosmic and Shakespearean vibe the King of Comics was putting down. Some don't and just try to make the New Gods just any other team of super heroes. And because of the high cosmic of the Fourth World, Batman usually approaches these characters from a different angle; as opposed to Superman, he rarely goes to New Genesis or teams up with Orion. But sometimes, Batman does cross paths with the heroic gods of New Genesis and the dark gods of Apokolips. This week, we're looking at three of those stories. We have a Bob Haney joint from the 70s, Jim Starlin trying his cosmic hand at DC and the next stop on our look at Grant Morrison's DC opus Death by the Ounce (The Brave and the Bold V.1 # 128) Cosmic Odyssey # 1-4 Final Crisis (DC Universe # 0, Final Crisis # 1-7, Final Crisis: Superman Beyond # 1-2, Final Crisis Submit, Batman V.1 # 682-683) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Follow the show on Twitter @BatChatComics and support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

"In Elseworlds, Heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places - some that have existed or might have existed, and others that can't, couldn't or shouldn't exist. This is one of those stories..." SUPERMAN THE DARK SIDE asks the question What if Kal-El's rocket ship from Krypton was somehow diverted from getting to Earth and instead was re-routed to the home of DC Comics deadliest supervillain DARKSEID. Landing instead on the evil planet Apokolips, Kal-El is raised by Darkseid instead of the under loving and dutiful Kents. How does this affect our Greatest superhero? That is the question and story of this 3 part Elseworlds comic series. We've been dying to talk comics with all you and this one is an excellent way back! We haven't discussed comic books with you all in almost a year and that's way too damn long for us! So if you've read this tale we look forward to your input and if your just curious to read we hope we can convince you to pick up your own copies! "I AM THE SOURCE WALL, WALL OF THE SOURCE." DC has been pumping out animated movies like nobody's business ever since the 2000's, so much so that they made most of them into their own little cinematic universe. In light of recent conclusions to multi-year and multi-project storylines, such as Marvel's Endgame and the CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths, the DC animated movie team decided to wipe their board clean as well in 2020. The problem was it absolutely sucked. Tune in and sync up with Brian and Alec as they find out why!

Earth’s defenders are triumphant in their assault on Darkseid and his army, making the forces of Apokolips retreat.
The Revelators join together to discuss a favorite of the group: the graphic novel collection of Mister Miracle by writer Tom King and artist Mitch Gerads From Google books: From Hugo Award-winning writer Tom King and artist Mitch Gerads, the team behind THE SHERIFF OF BABYLON, comes an ambitious new take on one of Jack Kirby's most beloved New Gods in MISTER MIRACLE! One of the best-reviewed series of the year and already a classic in the making, this Mister Miracle is magical, dark, intimate and unlike anything you've read before. Scott Free is the greatest escape artist who ever lived. So great, he escaped Granny Goodness' gruesome orphanage and the dangers of Apokolips to travel across galaxies and set up a new life on Earth with his wife, Big Barda. Using the stage alter ego of Mister Miracle, he has made quite a career for himself showing off his acrobatic escape techniques. He even caught the attention of the Justice League, who has counted him among its ranks. You might say Scott Free has everything--so why isn't it enough? Mister Miracle has mastered every illusion, achieved every stunt, pulled off every trick--except one. He has never escaped death. Is it even possible? Our hero is going to have to kill himself if he wants to find out.
