[Digital Gonzo 2013] This is a special, re-edited, re-release of a classic episode of Digital Gonzo. Back in 2013 we talked all about Green Lantern, under the impression that Warner Bros. & DC had big plans for superheroes over the next decade. And while they have genuinely given more heroes an airing, audiences seem to only be interested in The Bat and the Joker, (oh, and Aquaman, because he has laser-sharks). So, what this is is a pared-down and pacier version of the first part of that show with more focus and music. This is then followed by a contemporary take as Sharon and I rewatch the film with the benefit of hindsight to see if it has perhaps improved with age. The second half of the 2013 podcast was all about the extremely good Green Lantern: The Animated Series, and that will be coming next week with an all-new 90-minute full-spoilers discussion to tie into our DC Animated Universe shows. 1. The History of Green Lantern (2013) 2. The Comics (2013) 3. The 2011 Movie (2013) 4. The month of September is upon us and not only are the Pumpkin Lattes spicy, but so is the focus of our Elseworld's theme month. With a focus on various villains across the multiverse, the Good Brothers kick things off with a review of the Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode "In Love and War..." which focuses on the introduction of the Star Sapphires to this universe. The hosts break down a plot that's light on action beats, but in true Green Lantern fashion is heavy on emotion. With CGI visuals, Cal & Liam discuss costumes for Carol Ferris and the rest of the Sapphires, a few short action sequences including the space ghost (not that one) and a Silver Age homage to Carol's original suit. Plus music that plays like a movie soundtrack punctuating the most emotional scenes and a small voice cast that has several members pulling double duty throughout the episode. All of this and much more await, as well as an exciting reveal for our 175th episode on this week's DCAU Review! Hello team! Welcome to Discussions, our bonus episodes where we bring a special guest into the cave and talk about topics that relate to Young Justice as an entire series. Because of that, there are spoilers for both seasons everywhere. Consider yourself warned. We are thrilled to welcome Jason Spisak to the cave. Jason’s voice has graced many of our favorite shows, including Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Star Wars: Clone Wars, the Lego DC Universe, Justice League Adventures, and of course Young Justice. Jason has helped keep the memory of both Green Lantern and Young Justice alive through his personal YouTube channel by sharing amazing clips such as “Wally Reads the Classics”, “Sing Along with Razor”, and “Razor and Wally watch the DC Nation Finale”. Tune in to hear Rich geek out and then stick around and listen to everything Jason has to share. Special thanks to Neal for his awesome editing work on this episode. As always, thanks for listening and all your support. We appreciate each and every one of you more than we can express. If you have a moment to add some additional support, a rating and review on iTunes or your pod catcher of choice would help immensely. And if you have the ability to support us monetarily, we have a Patreon here. Thank you all, and stay whelmed.
If you haven't heard by now, this past week we lost one of the greats: Daniel John Schmidt. Dan was the co-founder of Across the Airwaves and the longtime host of the DC Nation Podcast, Marvelverse Podcast, and ThronesCast here on the ATA Podcast Network. Dan was very much a Man of Steel and as we mourn the loss of this Superman, we wish to bring you to simpler times. This special edition of the DC Nation Podcast is what we would call a LOST EPISODE, an episode that was recorded long ago but was never actually released online. Before the DC Nation Podcast covered Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, and all of the other DCTV shows and films, this podcast was hosted by Dan and longtime ATA host Michael J. Petty where they covered DC Comics animation such as Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Beware the Batman, and the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, as well as DC comic books such as the famed Forever Evil story arc and the Smallville Season 11 comic series written by friend of the podcast Bryan Q. Miller. While on a hiatus from Beware the Batman and Smallville Season 11, Dan & Michael were covering the Forever Evil comic event as well as random DC Comics animated features. This episode was to be the first of many covering the DC Universe Animated Original Movies starting with Superman Doomsday, based off of the famous Death of Superman comic book. Unfortunately, Dan and Michael did not continue their original plan to conclude reviewing Forever Evil or the talk about Justice League: The New Frontier as an executive decision was made by us here behind the scenes that we were going to reboot the DC Nation Podcast to talk about all things live-action DCTV with Dan & Nico leading the charge. However, that's for another day. Today, we celebrate Dan's life by releasing this highly anticipated LOST EPISODE of the DC Nation Podcast covering the Superman Doomsday animated film.
Marc takes Let's Voltron "on the road" to the worldwide debut of the Voltron: Legendary Defender cast and crew at WonderCon, with exclusive interviews. You get to listen to Greg's reactions to hearing these interviews for the very first time. Let's Voltron Host, Marc Morrell, took a trip to Los Angeles, California with his wife, Kim (official photographer/videographer), to capture the DreamWorks Animation panel and interviews for Voltron: Legendary Defender. In Part 1 of 2, you will hear Marc recall the experience of WonderCon, and the exuberance of Voltron fans that attended the panel that introduced the world to the cast and crew of Voltron: Legendary Defender, due to come out with an initial block of 13 episodes on June 10th on Netflix. For co-host, Greg Tyler, who is hearing all these interviews for the first time, this podcast gives his genuine reactions to what the cast and crew had to say at WonderCon, after the panel that just exploded like Voltron slicing through robeasts with Blazing Sword. While Marc was at WonderCon, he got to meet face-to-face for the first time with previous podcast guests, Blacky Shepherd and Steven E. Gordon. These Voltron meetups are one of the favorite things for Marc to do as a host of the podcast. You can privately contact either of these great artists through Facebook or Twitter to commision them for a personal Voltron artwork of your choosing. Marc also visited the Sideshow Collectibles booth, where a finished Prototype of the Voltron Maquette was on display, in all of it's colorful glory. The price and date of sale are all "To Be Decided" (TBD), but here are the pictures we promised in close up detail. In the podcast, Greg mentions the Mighty Fine T-shirts that Marc picked up for him at the We Love Fine booth. These were WonderCon exclusives for the new Voltron show, and you can now get them yourself (for $25 each) at these links: http://www.welovefine.com/voltron-space-attack-11257.html http://www.welovefine.com/colored-chestplate-11258.html The Voltron cast was announced at WonderCon, and we talk to all of them, except Neil Kaplan, Steven Yeun, and Cree Summer, during this podcast: Josh Keaton (Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern: The Animated Series") as Shiro Jeremy Shada (Finn the Human in "Adventure Time") as Lance Tyler Labine ("Tucker and Dale vs. Evil") as Hunk Bex Taylor-Klaus ("The Last Witch Hunter") as Pidge Steven Yeun (Glenn in "The Walking Dead") as Keith Kimberly Brooks (Ashley Williams in "Mass Effect") as Princess Allura Rhys Darby ("Flight of the Conchords") as Coran Neil Kaplan ("Transformers: Robots in Disguise") as Zarkon Cree Summer ("A Different World") as Haggar Joaqim Dos Santos ("The Legend of Korra") - Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery ("The Legend of Korra") - Co-Executive Producer Tim Hedrick ("The Legend of Korra") - Story Editor In Part 2 of the podcast, coming next week, Marc and Greg bring 2 other guests who attended the panel at WonderCon onto the podcast to review everything that happened at the panel. Your guests will be Shannon Muir and Dani DeWald. Both are mentioned in Part 1 as well. Marc announced in this podcast that we will be revealing the winner of a Voltron: Legendary Defender lithograph, signed by the whole cast and crew of the Netflix series that were at the panel at WonderCon. From all of people who submitted questions to our email that were asked to the talent and showrunners of Voltron: Legendary Defender, we will pick one winner at random. That winner will be announced in our Parts 2 podcast next week. Here is a picture of that lithograph: Sorry that this podcast was so long, but we have a wonderful panel to talk about and guests to review it with us, coming next week on Let's Voltron: The Official Voltron Podcast. Co-hosts Bill Giancoli and Myron Rumsey are joined by two guests for this very special episode as we look back on Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Series producers Giancarlo Volpe and Jim Krieg are reunited for episode 64 of The Podcast of Oa and share some memories about the show and let us know what they've been doing since the show went off air about a year ago. Giancarlo Volpe, Jim Krieg Myron comments that if the show were still airing we'd be at the end of the second season and asks both men what we'd have seen in the second season and where the show would have ended up going. Jim reveals the facts behind why the show wasn't renewed and how the dollars and cents would make it difficult to produce direct to dvd CGI animated features. We learn where the two are now and where fans can find the projects they are working on today. In episode 63 of The Podcast of Oa co-hosts Bill Giancoli and Myron Rumsey discuss the most recent issues taking place in the Green Lantern corner of the DC Universe. The return of Von Daggle and the ensuing battle between John Stewart's Green Lantern squad and the Durlan conjures images of '80's action films (in a good way!) and sparks Bill to praise the creators for continuing to spotlight the non-Earth members of the Corps. Myron and Bill responds to emails from listeners who have two decidedly different opinions about Kyle Rayner. Talk then goes on to both Green Lantern: New Guardians #28 and Green Lantern #29 before Myron shares news about some upcoming convention appearance and asks the audience to help get the show on I Heart Radio. Myron also announces a special lineup for the next episode, a Green Lantern: The Animated Series retrospective with show producers Giancarlo Volpe and Jim Krieg. Hey gang, like what's going on? On this groovy episode of ATA's DC Nation Podcast, Dan and Michael cover, like, one of the last good shows to air on Cartoon Network (after Young Justice Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and ThunderCats) Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated! Like yeah man, Dan, Nico, and Michael have all covered the series on ATA before, but now that it has completed it's run (and because DC Comics does produce a Scooby-Doo comic series), the Dynamic Duo decided to cover the series as a whole and try and get fans of Scooby-Doo, supernatural plots, and teenage dramas to like check out the series. This podcast talks about the Fred & Daphne relationship, Scooby's role in the series, Shaggy & Velma, the supernatural mysteries and over-arching plot-lines that make up the series, and the amazing three-part series finale that could easily be the "greatest Scooby-Doo story ever told". But fret not fans of Bryan Q. Miller's Smallville Season 11 as the Duo does indeed cover "Argo" - Part 1, like, in great detail (yes, we're a little behind on those chapters, but like please bare with us)! All this and, like, more man on this week's DC Nation Podcast!

Hey gang! Welcome back to this long awaited episode of ATA's DC Nation as we return from a long hiatus due to our main animated content being cancelled by Cartoon Network (Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series). Sad day. But what isn't sad is our final coverage of the conclusion of the Bryan Q. Miller written Smallville Season 11 episode "Haunted" as we wrap up the final three digital issues (#38-40) aka the 12th print issue of the series! After that sad talk about Bart's demise, the return of Tess Mercer and Clark Kent, and the farewell (at least for now) of Chloe and Oliver, we move right along into covering one of the best parts of the New 52... The Geoff Johns written Aquaman/Justice League crossover event that rocked the New 52 universe: Throne of Atlantis! We talk about Aquaman, Cyborg, the Superman/Wonder Woman romance, the Batman/Aquaman duo, Vulko, the Prologue the Epilogue and what is in store for both the Justice League and Aquaman himself! All this and much more on this week's edition of the DC Nation Podcast!!!
Listeners of the Podcast of Oa join us for episode 45 in a Google Hangout where we talk about the finale episode of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, "Dark Matter". And as happens whenever a group of fans get together the conversation shifts between the series, the comics and the Green Lantern motion picture. Near the end of the show we are joined by Jared Aiosa, owner of Heroes You Mom Threw Out Comics and we talk about comics in general, the impact of digital comics and the good, the bad and the ugly about comic book stores. Please note that the audio quality fluctuates based on the connections between the particpants and background noise, so there are some irregularities in the audio of the conversation which cannot be avoided. Hal Jordan and Sinestro return to the spotlight in the pages of Green Lantern #18 and Volthoom continues on his quest to power up by tormenting John Stewart and Fatality in Green Lantern Corps #18. Co-hosts Bill Giancoli and Myron Rumsey talk about both books as well as Bill's own upcoming comic book mini-series Gears. Green Lantern: The Animated Series recently wrapped its run on the Cartoon Network and in episode 44 of The Podcast of Oa we talk about the penultimate episode, "Ranx", as well as reveal our plans for a Google Hangout to chat with listeners about the finale and the series as a whole. Greetings loyal Fanterns, Young Justice fans, and DC Nationites! On March 16th, 2013, we all experienced a heavy loss. It wasn't just Aya or Wally West's "deaths" that were bad, it was the fact that DC Nation will never be the same again as Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice: Invasion are now gone from Cartoon Network. But, as you will hear in this recording of that day's Live Show Event hosted by DC Nation Podcast hosts Dan Schmidt & Michael J. Petty, with guest host Andy Behbakht, it may not be the end of these shows forever. However, in this ATA Live Show, the Trio discussed the Green Lantern: The Animated Series series finale "Dark Matter" & the Young Justice: Invasion series finale "Endgame". They talk about Aya's "death" and how she could easily be alive, the epic space battle between the Green Lantern Corps and the Manhunters, shipping Razaya, SuperMartian, and Spitfire, Wally West's "cease", Aqualad being back as team leader, Artemis's change to Tigress, and Dick Grayson's send-off. But that's not all, the three each give their own experiences watching both series' and explain how they got into each show. But that's not all folks, because for the second half of the show, Dan, Michael, and Andy play the voicemails that us here at the DC Nation Podcast have received over the past week from a bunch of fans (shout out to Jason A. and Rod) and cast/crew of Young Justice and/or Green Lantern alike! We hear from Phil Morris (Saint Walker on GLTAS), Josh Keaton (Hal Jordan on GLTAS, Black Spider on YJ), our friend Jeremy Adams (writer on GLTAS), Christopher Jones (artist on the YJ comic), and Jason Spisak (Kid Flash on YJ, Razer on GLTAS)! On top of that, superhero animation experts from all over the internet including, Eric from Superhero Shows, Steve Younis from the Superman Homepage, and James Harvey from World's Finest Online send Young Justice & Green Lantern their farewells too! We would also like to give a big thank you to everyone who has been a part of DC Nation, Young Justice, and Green Lantern: The Animated series in some fashion from those who write or come up with the story to the actors & editors to the artists and animators. Thank you all so much, special thank you to Giancarlo Volpe and Jeremy Adams for being involved on our podcast and getting on here to talk about Green Lantern and special thanks all those who called in, from fans to cast & crew, we wouldn't be here without you guys. Also shout out to DW of Fanboys Inc., Alisa Lea, Cards (you know who you are), and CellTherapy! Thank you all for doing what you have been doing and remember, Heroes NEVER Die!
Hello DC Nationites, welcome back to the DC Nation Podcast, here on Across the Airwaves, and it looks like we've got a special penultimate episode for you guys tonight! First on this week's agenda, we try and help get through some Manhunters when we cover the Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode "Ranx"! We discuss the possibilities of seeing more than one Earth Green Lantern in the series finale, Razer's realization of what the team may have to do to defeat Aya, and give our other thoughts and predictions about the final episode. Then, after covering the Plastic Man and Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld shorts, we move onto covering the Young Justice: Invasion episode "Summit" where we freak out over Dan's crackpot theory for the series finale, cry at the "deaths" of Aqualad and Artemis, rejoice at the return of Wally West, and plead with DC Comics to give Young Justice (and Green Lantern as well) a "Smallville Season 11-like" comic series that will continue the series for us fans. We quickly end our episode (as the discussions got a little long) with covering Smallville Season 11's "Effigy, Part 4" where we witness the birth of Miss Martian into the Smallville Universe, which opens the way for Bryan Q. Miller to bring in a Smallville-version of the Young Justice Team! Also, Batman and Martian Manhunter. All this and more on this week's DC Nation Podcast! And don't forget to tune in tomorrow at 2/1c PM on our Ustream account to watch our DC Nation Live Show Event covering the series finales of Young Justice & Green Lantern, as well as giving our final goodbyes to the shows and sharing our experiences with the shows in the past. You can read Michael's "Mild-Mannered Review" of Smallville Season 11 "Effigy" - Part 4 on the Superman Homepage: HERE.

[Digital Gonzo 2013] We chose Green lantern to kick this off because he's the first proper DC hero to get a big screen movie since superheroes became a serious business who wasn't the Kryptonian or the Bat. Also because we just finished watching the now-canceled Green Lantern: The Animated Series and defying all expectation it turned out to be my second-favourite animated show after Avatar. I do not mince words here, this is a must-see series, criminally cut off in its prime. It is available in Region 1 as two DVD sets and should set you back around £22 As well as this and the movie we talk about the history of the character, his other animated outings and his development through the comics. 1. History of Green Lantern 2. DC Animated Universe Appearances 3. First Flight 4. Emerald Knights 5. 2011 Live Action Movie 6. The Animated Series 7.
