Following her announcement at Superman Celebration that she will reprise her role as Martha "Ma" Kent in James Gunn's Man of Tomorrow, Neva Howell joins Shawn Eastridge for her first interview discussing the highly anticipated sequel and the future of the DC Universe. Neva reflects on returning to the role of Ma Kent, reuniting with Pruitt Taylor Vince (Pa Kent), and stepping back into the warm, family-like environment fostered by writer-director James Gunn. While she can't reveal specific plot details, she does offer a tantalizing tease for fans eager to see where Superman's story goes next: "Whatever you were thinking, it's probably not that." Shawn and Neva also discuss the growing DCU, their excitement for Supergirl and Lanterns, the importance of balancing heart and humor in superhero storytelling, and why she believes fans who loved Superman (2025) are going to "flip over" Man of Tomorrow.
Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord surprised us in the best way possible. Going into this new Star Wars series, our expectations were fairly modest. While Darth Maul has always been one of the franchise's most iconic villains, we weren't convinced that another Maul-centered story would bring anything new to the table. After watching all ten episodes, we're happy to admit we were wrong. In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we give our full spoiler-filled review of Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord, discussing the story, characters, action sequences, major reveals, connections to Star Wars lore, and what the future could hold for Darth Maul and the galaxy far, far away. COLD OPEN (First 21 Minutes) Before diving into Maul Shadow Lord, we discuss several major topics from the worlds of comic books, superhero movies, and pop culture: • Why Absolute Batman by Scott Snyder has become such a massive success • Bruce Wayne's lack of an internal monologue and how it changes the character • Why readers are embracing a more violent, immature, and physically imposing Batman • The new Supergirl movie teaser and Kara Zor-El's first meeting with Superman • Our upcoming Supergirl review and discussion of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow • Lex Luthor's comic-accurate power suit from the recent Superman set photos • First impressions of the Lanterns television series trailer • The future of the DC Universe under James Gunn FULL SPOILER REVIEW After the cold open, we jump into a deep spoiler discussion of Maul Shadow Lord. We discuss: • Darth Maul's character development • The show's fast-paced storytelling • The impressive lightsaber duels and action sequences • New Star Wars characters and villains • The shocking reveal in Episode 9 • Connections to The Phantom Menace • What happened to Maul after Naboo • Star Wars canon and lore implications • The future of Maul's criminal empire • The next chapter of Star Wars animation and television While Maul Shadow Lord isn't necessarily groundbreaking television, we found it to be one of the most enjoyable and cohesive Star Wars projects in recent memory. The series expands Darth Maul's story in meaningful ways, delivers exciting action, introduces compelling new characters, and leaves fans with plenty to speculate about moving forward. For over a century, Pennsylvania has been a hotspot for UFO encounters that baffle experts and leave witnesses questioning reality. From glowing discs in remote lakes to crafts that defy physics, the Keystone State's skies are filled with the mysterious, paranormal, and extraterrestrial.EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources): https://weirddarkness.com/PennsylvaniaUFOsREAD or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/ye247nxkFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: Pennsylvania has always been a land of mysteries in the skies. It has become one of the most intriguing destinations for UFO sightings throughout the years, with tales that date back long before the term “flying saucer” was even coined. From glowing discs hovering over fields, to objects that break the laws of physics, the state's history is filled with encounters that leave you wondering what might actually be out there. And these are not mere passing glimpses; these are encounters that can leave a witness profoundly shaken – altered for life. There's the Carbondale incident, where strange lights in a lake sent people into a panic. There's the experienced aviator who encountered something that decades in the cockpit could not explain. There are numerous accounts of silent craft and disc-shaped objects, eerie lights in the sky — occasions when the stars were blotted out. There are reports of the stopping of time, an encounter that had state troopers speechless, and even an extraterrestrial werewolf-like entity. From the earliest sightings in 1917 through more modern accounts, Pennsylvania's connection to the UFO phenomenon is undeniable, if not unbelievable. What's going on in the skies over the Keystone State? And why is it happening there in particular?CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = The Foreboding00:01:37.162 = Show Open00:02:45.008 = Chapter 01: Lanterns and Lies: The Carbondale UFO Mystery00:11:48.101 = Chapter 02: Eerie Lights in Erie ***00:15:12.728 = Chapter 03: The Oil City Light Show00:16:46.996 = Chapter 04: Saylor's Lake, Silent Lights, and a Stunned State Trooper00:18:09.833 = Chapter 05: A Tent, A Grandmother, And A Silent Visitor Overhead00:20:02.281 = Chapter 06: The Wainwright's Werewolf00:25:33.631 = Chapter 07: The Black Circle In The Sky ***00:27:55.349 = Chapter 08: Friday Night Lights In The Sky00:30:36.853 = Chapter 09: Playing Chicken With An Experienced Pilot00:32:40.481 = Chapter 10: Mind Probing and Time Stopping00:35:41.135 = Chapter 11: The First Saucers00:41:31.466 = Chapter 12: Why Pennsylvania? ***00:44:16.924 = Show Close & Bloopers*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakLISTEN ON PODCAST APPS: Look for this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, and other podcast apps. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: February 24, 2025Weird Darkness traces more than a century of unexplained encounters in the skies over Pennsylvania, from a glowing disc submerged in a Carbondale lake to a werewolf-faced figure tied to a silent craft, the apparent stopping of time outside New Kensington, and the geography researchers believe may explain why the Keystone State draws so many sightings. It opens with the Carbondale incident of November 1974, when teenagers Bill Lloyd, John Lloyd, and Bob Gillette watched a golden-white light streak from the direction of Salem Mountain and drop near the lake outside Russell Park. A disc-shaped glow moved beneath the water, the surface fizzed and turned a sickly green-yellow, and when Officers Barbero and Jacobina fired their weapons at it, the object appeared to dodge the shots. The boys overheard a police radio order to hold off the news media, watched a scuba diver surface screaming, and saw a crane and delivery truck brought to the water's edge under the eye of Police Chief Francis Dottle — only for divers to later produce a single old railroad worker's lantern and declare the whole thing a hoax. Matt Graeber of the UFO Report and Information Center in Philadelphia arrived at five in the morning to find a crowd of between fifteen hundred and three thousand people ringing the lake. From there the episode moves to February 1975 in Simpson, where a driver on Route 171 joined other motorists pulled over to watch red and green lights hover before a white beam appeared and the object shot off faster than a fighter jet. That June, two friends fishing at Red Bank near the Allegheny Reservoir tracked a craft that stopped dead in midair and hovered for roughly an hour, then heard KDKA radio report at six-thirty that morning that a UFO had crashed into an eastern Pennsylvania lake and the National Guard had it surrounded, before the story disappeared from every outlet. Near Erie around the same stretch, two motorists stopped to study a silent disc about eighty feet across hanging a thousand feet up, ringed with red, yellow, blue, and green lights, and afterward never spoke of it to each other again.Next comes Oil City on November 1, 1974, where CB radio chatter about lights near the Vocational Technical Center across from Oil City High School drew a group of brothers out to look. They found three or four bright lights spread miles apart, moving in geometric formations no aircraft could manage, performing for nearly two hours in front of hundreds of onlookers. The account then shifts to Saylor's Lake in Monroe County on the evening of March 1, 1973, where lights began darting fifteen hundred feet above the water around seven-thirty, shifting between white, red, and blue. State Trooper Jeffrey Hontz, sent to investigate, later told the press the display looked like Christmas trees flying in the air. Witnesses counted roughly forty separate lights, all of them silent at an altitude where planes or helicopters would have roared, and the spectacle lasted until just before eleven. That summer of 1973 in Erie, a teenager sleeping in a backyard tent to escape the heat saw a red, star-like object cross the sky with apparent purpose and ran inside to fetch his grandmother. By the time the two returned, the sky had filled with colored star-like objects moving at impossible angles and near-collisions before they winked out of existence rather than flying away, and the grandmother, though she had watched the whole half-hour, afterward refused to discuss any of it.The most frightening encounter belongs to Bensalem on August 27, 1973, when Alan and Elsie Wainwright saw a boomerang-shaped craft glide silently over their home, halt overhead, and d

Episode Summary Nicolas Cage finally gets to be Nicolas Cage, and Frank has thoughts. This week the guys are back in studio to break down the new Spider-Noir series, the ElevenLabs deal recreating Stan Lee's voice that has fans up in arms, and the freshly revealed Minecraft Movie Squared logo and Matt Berry casting. Along the way they realize the Herobrine creepypasta they believed for years was apparently made up the whole time. The back half turns into a full 2026 mid-year check-in, ranking the year's biggest surprises like Wonder Man and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms while looking ahead to Clayface, Spider-Man Brand New Day, and House of the Dragon. Then comic writer Bill Stoddard joins to talk Murder Mouse, the gleefully unhinged book Frank describes as Chuck E. Cheese meets Disneyland meets an 80s slasher flick. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Intro, In-Studio Catch-Up, and Patreon Thanks 02:32 Minecraft Movie Squared and the Herobrine Myth 08:10 Stan Lee's AI Voice and the ElevenLabs Backlash 16:42 Spider-Noir Review 25:22 2026 Mid-Year Check-In: Movies and Shows 34:15 What's Coming Up Next: Clayface, BioShock Dreams, and More 50:32 Guest Interview: Bill Stoddard on Murder Mouse 1:02:55 Weekly Picks and Comics for the DC Blackout Key Takeaways The Minecraft Movie Squared logo sparks end-game theories, Matt Berry joins the cast, and the crew comes to terms with the Herobrine creepypasta being fabricated rather than real lore. ElevenLabs and the company holding Stan Lee's likeness launch an AI voice to read public library books, drawing heavy backlash, especially given Lee sued over his likeness rights back in 2018. Spider-Noir lands a low 8 from Frank and a 10 out of 10 from Squeaks, with the color and black-and-white toggle and the Ben Reilly name nod as standout details, though the detective pacing runs slow for modern viewers. The mid-year review crowns Wonder Man, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and The Boys finale as highlights, with Clayface, Spider-Man Brand New Day, House of the Dragon, and Lanterns leading the watchlist. A running rant on movie theater popcorn buckets covers the Lobo motorcycle, the 80 dollar Galactus, and the Masters of the Universe sword and castle, plus why studios keep missing the collectibles opportunity. Bill Stoddard breaks down the origin of Murder Mouse, the fourth-wall humor inspired by Looney Tunes, the new Head Case Comics label, and a planned From Dusk Till Dawn style one-shot. Quotes "It's legal, but not right." "It takes the value out of the voice, the words they spoke when they were alive." "Basically, Chuck E. Cheese meets Disneyland meets an 80s slasher flick." "What if the classic Mickey Mouse saw how the world was today?" "Wonder Man just came out of nowhere." Let’s dive in! The Cancellation of Baldur’s Gate 4 The gaming community was recently hit with disappointing news: Baldur’s Gate 4 has been officially canceled. This decision comes after the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, which, while visually stunning, failed to capture the magic of the original titles. For many gamers, Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 are iconic, setting foundational standards for RPGs. Why Was Baldur’s Gate 4 Canceled? Shifts in Development Focus: The team behind Baldur’s Gate has shifted resources to other projects, leading to the decision to cancel the sequel. Community Feedback: Developers often rely on community feedback, and the mixed reviews for Baldur’s Gate 3 likely influenced this decision. A Tribute to Tom Kane In a somber turn of events, the gaming and sci-fi communities mourn the passing of Tom Kane, a talented voice actor known for his roles in iconic franchises, including Star Wars. Legacy in Voice Acting: His work in series like The Clone Wars and various video games has left a lasting impact on the industry. Community Reaction: Fans and colleagues alike have shared tributes, celebrating his life and career. The Return of Conan the Barbarian On a brighter note, the legendary Conan the Barbarian is making a comeback! A new film is set to be released, stirring excitement among fans of the franchise. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who famously played Conan in the original film, may return in some capacity. What to Expect from the New Film Sequel or Remake? While details are still scarce, it's rumored that the new film could be a sequel, possibly featuring an older Conan passing the torch to a new generation. Production Team: The involvement of experienced filmmakers is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the classic tale. Cultural Impact: Conan’s enduring legacy in the fantasy genre highlights the character’s significance, making this film highly anticipated. Conclusion In this post, we've explored the latest updates from the gaming and sci-fi worlds, including the unfortunate cancellation of Baldur’s Gate 4, a tribute to the late Tom Kane, and the exciting return of Conan the Barbarian. These stories remind us of the ever-evolving nature of our favorite genres. Key Takeaways Baldur’s Gate 4 has been canceled due to mixed reviews and development shifts. In the lonely marshlands and mist-soaked valleys of Wales, strange lights have long been seen drifting silently through the darkness.Pale flames moving along forgotten roads.Lanterns with no hand to carry them.Omens of death.Tonight, storyteller Owen Staton invites you into the haunting world of the Canwyll Corph — the Welsh corpse candles — where grief walks beside love, where ancient superstition lingers beneath chapel bells and sea mist, and where a young doctor discovers that some lights are not meant to be followed.Rich with folklore, melancholy and eerie beauty, The Grim Lights is a deeply atmospheric tale of loss, longing and the flickering boundary between this world and the next.So settle beside the fire, listen to the wind at the window… and if you glimpse a pale flame moving in the darkness beyond the glass…Don't follow it www.welshstoryteller.comwww.ko-fi.com/owenstatonwww.patreon.com/owenstaton7
X-MEN '97 SEASON 2 & DC GREEN LANTERNS OFFICIAL TRAILER REACTION & BREAKDOWN!! Check out the DC Studios: Showcase Podcast HERE https://app.magellan.ai/listen_links/... Greg & Coy dive into two of the most exciting trailer drops in the comic book world: Marvel Animation's X-Men '97 Season 2 and HBO/DC Studios' upcoming Green Lantern series, Lanterns. From nostalgic mutant mayhem to cosmic detective drama, we break down all the biggest moments, reveals, and what they could mean moving forward. First up, the X-Men '97 Season 2 trailer teases the next chapter following the shocking events of Season 1. Fan-favorite mutants return, including Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, and Wolverine—with voice talent like Ray Chase (Final Fantasy XV, Demon Slayer) as Cyclops and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect, The Last of Us) as Jean Grey continuing to lead the charge. The footage hints at deeper fallout within the team, escalating threats, and the possible rise of iconic villains like Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse, all while maintaining the bold, retro animation style that made the revival a hit. We also break down the first look at Lanterns, the highly anticipated DC series centered on the Green Lantern Corps. The show stars Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) as veteran Lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge, Krypton) as John Stewart, pairing two iconic ring-bearers in what's being described as a grounded, True Detective-style mystery on Earth. The trailer hints at a darker tone, intergalactic stakes, and possible connections to the broader DC Universe, with teases of the Guardians of the Universe and the emotional spectrum mythology. Other confirmed Characters for X-Men '97 S2 include: Scott Summers / Cyclops, Jean Grey, Ororo Munroe / Storm, Logan / Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Dr. Henry “Hank” McCoy / Beast, Erik “Magnus” Lehnsherr / Magneto, Professor Charles Xavier, Apocalypse / En Sabah Nur, Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler, X-Force, & more... Join us as we react to every standout moment, speculate on what's coming next, and discuss how both Marvel and DC are shaping the future of their on-screen universes. One of the most prophetic shows to ever air on television has come to an end. The Boys, which seemed to be somehow parodying the Trump administration in real time, finished up with an episode bookended by funerals and featuring some significant deaths... and the upsetting reappearance of Frenchie, TV's most irritating character. Did the satirical superhero show stick the landing? Did they spend all of the budget elsewhere? Has any onscreen couple had less chemistry than Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty? We discuss all this and more. Before that: tons of news! Supergirl, The Batman Part II, Lanterns, and much much more. Like a ton more. If you don't care about any of that skip right to 1:13:54. Want your questions answered on the show? Send an email to ask.cinema.sangha@gmail.com and ask away, and ask about pretty much anything at all. The review embargo lifted today for The Mandalorian and Grogu, and the bag is more than a little mixed. Critics are either praising the film for its fun action adventure nature of the bounty hunter and his foundling or others are saying the film does not live up to the iconography that Lucasfilm and Star Wars is known for as well as having too small of a story for the big screen. With this being the first Star Wars film in seven years, a lot is likely riding on the performance of Din Djarin and Din Grogu. Ebon Moss-Bachrach has been quietly dishing details on not only Avengers: Doomsday but Secret Wars across his various media appearances in recent days. On Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Thing actor admitted the Doomsday script he read didn't have a finished third act saying, "I don't think it had an ending,” and described the production as so compartmentalized and "interstellar" that he'd repeatedly go back to Joe Russo to have the multiverse threading re-explained. Then in a separate chat with the Dog Day Afternoon Broadway team, a play based on the 1975 film the actor is performing in, he casually dropped that Secret Wars filming kicks off in August 2026, right after his stage run wraps in mid-July.HBO set August 16 as the premiere date for Lanterns and dropped a new trailer that complicates the show's dark, earth-based mystery pitch with shots of Kyle Chandler's Hal Jordan in the classic Green Lantern uniform and what appears to be an off-world setting. The trailer also confirms Nathan Fillion is reprising his role as Guy Gardner and reveals Laura Linney in an undisclosed part opposite Aaron Pierre's John Stewart. Matt Reeves used a series of X posts last week to officially welcome Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch to Gotham for The Batman: Part II. They join the previously confirmed additions of Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent, Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, and Charles Dance as Harvey's father Christopher. Henry, a Marvel alum from Eternals who also memorably appeared in 2019's Joker, marks his second trip into the DC sandbox, while Koch is known for his prestige work appearing in films like Bridge of Spies. Michael continued another strong run at the box office this weekend and has now crossed $700 million dollars worldwide while the Devil Wears Prada 2 also continued its solid streak, crossing the $500 million dollar mark internationally. Mortal Kombat 2 crossed the $100 million dollar mark in its second weekend. Horror film Obsession opened very well with $23 million dollars worldwide, a big opening for a film from a first time director acquired out of a film festival. Marvel is making some changes to leadership in its comics division. The company has promoted Brad Winderbaum, already its chief of television and animation, to head of Marvel television, animation, comics and franchise. At the same time, David Abdo, former manager of Disney's music division, will transition to serve as Marvel's general manager, comics and franchise, reporting to Winderbaum. With the new top leadership coming in, that means that Dan Buckley, the longtime Marvel Comics head, is departing. Buckley will remain at Marvel through mid-2027 to support the leadership transition.HBO's Harry Potter series will already be recasting a role as production begins on season 2. Actress Gracie Cochrane, who portrays Ginny Weasley in the upcoming season 1 will not return for Season 2 of the series due to 'unforeseen circumstances,' Cochrane and her family revealed in a statement.Disney+ has begun development on Ella Enchanted, a TV series based on the 2004 Miramax fairytale film of the same name that starred Anne Hathaway, who will return to produce the series. Anyone But You writer Ilana Wolpert will serve as showrunner.A final look trailer for Prime's Spider-Noir, starring Nicholas Cage, was dropped today.
