Jace and Rocky break down all 9 DC releases for the week of September 9, 2026. Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #3 deepens the mystery around the two Basil Karlos, with Rocky praising the timely body-horror angle behind Lossomix while Jace finds the dual identities increasingly difficult to track. In Supergirl #17, Kara begins to understand Ursa's desire to save Krypton, while the time-travel mechanics leave Jace questioning how much damage their very presence in the past may cause. Action Comics #1102 pushes the dilemma further as Ursa tries to convince a younger Zod that Jor-El was right, while Kara wrestles with whether saving Krypton—and billions of lives—could erase Superman and all the good he would do. Batman and Robin: Year One — Dynamic Duos Chapter Two leans into Dick Grayson's banter with Alfred and his undercover infiltration of the juvenile gang, building toward an initiation that puts Catwoman directly in his path. Emperor Aquaman #21 sees Aquaman's enemies overwhelm his allies in Atlantis while his disrupted return through the Blue brings him unexpectedly face-to-face with the avatars of the Red and the Green, Maxine Baker and Swamp Thing. Barbara Gordon: Breakout #5 continues to improve, but both hosts remain unconvinced by Barbara's original undercover-prison plan as the mission to protect Vandal Savage's enemies continues to unravel. Green Lantern Corps #20 juggles shore leave, the returning Darkstars, Katma's unexpected connection to them and Guy Gardner's search for the Predator while continuing to add depth to Guy beyond his old macho stereotype. Fury of Firestorm #6 brings Ronnie Raymond and Professor Stein to an emotional reckoning as they reunite to stop the Firestorm Matrix, with both hosts responding to the complicated father-son dynamic and the questions raised by the issue's final transformation. Batman: Bad Seeds — Gotham Central #1 gives Jim Gordon real agency in a Batman-free Gotham mystery, while Christopher Cantwell's take on Anarky turns the contradictions in his anti-system worldview into a compelling part of the character rather than a weakness. Jace and Rocky break down all 11 DC releases for the week of August 12, 2026. In Green Lantern Corps #19, Guy Gardner brings the Lanterns bonded to the emotional entities together around a new idea: their individual emotions remain distinct, but they may now be able to draw on the entire emotional spectrum when they need it. In Barbara Gordon: Breakout #4, Barbara finally meets one of the innocent people she entered prison to find—a cop locked up for refusing to play along with Vandal Savage—while Sparrow's murder gives the story some badly needed forward momentum. In Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #2, someone is impersonating Clayface, and his attempt to uncover who is behind it becomes much more personal when a friend he confides in is murdered. In Fury of Firestorm #5, Firehawk briefly reaches the Ronnie Raymond trapped inside the Firestorm Matrix, but Professor Stein's reaction when the sentient Matrix calls him "father" raises new questions about whether his supposed remorse was ever genuine. In Emperor Aquaman #20, Arthur moves his fight with Poseidon away from Earth so he can finally cut loose, and the God of the Sea gets a firsthand demonstration of just how terrifyingly powerful Aquaman has become. In Absolute Batman #23, Bruce's obsession with Jack Grimm has reached the point where he believes virtually every defining moment in his life was deliberately engineered, leaving his oldest friends wondering whether Batman has gone too far. The Nice House by the Sea #11, the penultimate issue of the second arc, finally delivers major answers and forward momentum for the larger mystery while still making the revelation involving Oliver land through the character drama that has defined the series. In Supergirl #16, still believing Superman is missing, Kara takes responsibility for the House of El as Zod's larger plan begins coming into focus and a female Eradicator unexpectedly enters the conflict. In Bleeding Hearts #7, Poke's growing bond with Rabbit and her mother shows him becoming increasingly human, but that fragile connection is threatened when Rabbit is grievously injured by one of the undead. In Batman and Robin: Year One — Dynamic Duos #1, a young Bruce nearly loses control when a group of kids mug him and his date, while an encounter with the Wolfpack gives him another early lesson in becoming the Batman he will eventually be. In Action Comics #1101, Lois Lane proves why she is a Pulitzer-winning reporter by getting under General Zod's skin, probing for his real agenda and deliberately keeping him talking because she knows he may be planning to kill her. Meanwhile, Superman has returned, but will it be just to face defeat at the hands of Zod? This week, we are sharing an historic conversation among Ohio comic book royalty: Prolific, award-winning creators Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko. The conversation was moderated by Mike Sangiacomo, one of the Founders of the Siegel and Shuster Society. Recorded live on July 11, 2026, at the Cleveland Public Library as part of the weekend-long Icons Fest held in conjunction with the Icons in Ink: The Jewish Comics Experience exhibit at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage (on display until August 23, 2026). Growing up together in Northeast Ohio, Bendis and Andreyko first teamed up as friends to create the true crime comic book series Torso, the story of the "Torso Murders" in Cleveland in the 1930s when Eliot Ness was the city's Safety Director. Their wide-ranging conversation included stories about their early collaboration and the on-going challenge of bringing Torso to the screen, their storied careers in the comic book and entertainment industries, and Cleveland Public Library's role in Bendis's decision to go to DC to write for Superman. Brian Michael Bendis was born in Cleveland, took classes at Cleveland Institute of Art, and did work for several Cleveland-area newspapers and magazines in his early career. He has co-created characters like Miles Morales, Jessica Jones, and dozens of others that populate the Marvel, DC and all-new original universes. He is a New York Times bestseller and has won numerous awards for his work, including multiple Eisner Awards and a Peabody for Jessica Jones. Bendis was Executive Producer of the Academy Award winning hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Bendis' fabled move to DC Entertainment after nearly two decades at Marvel made international headlines, making his DC debut in the landmark Action Comics 1000. Bendis continues to be a prolific creator, producer, Marc Andreyko grew up in Mentor, graduated from Mentor High School, and co-created the character Kate Spencer/Manhunter for DC and was the original writer on Wonder Woman '77. He has written comics for Dark Horse, DC, IDW, Image, and Marvel. Michael Sangiacomo is a long-time writer of articles on Superman and the comics industry for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. In 2006, he penned an article that urged Cleveland to embrace the creators of Superman, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and this led to the creation of the Siegel and Shuster Society of which he was a founding board member. Sangiacomo has also taught comic book history at Case Western Reserve University and is a comics writer himself. Superman #40 uses Superboy-Prime to show that even after redemption begins, the consequences of your past never disappear. Justice League Unlimited #21 has the League finally turn the tables on Brainiac Queen with a surprise plan from Red Tornado and the Atom, while Batman and Lex learn they have something in common regarding the consequences of the Omega Tournament. Superman: Father of Tomorrow #3 shows Lex Luthor's decision to abandon science for sorcery perfectly highlighting the series' central debate over power and responsibility. Absolute Wonder Woman #22 has Barbara Minerva willingly surrender herself to Urzkartaga, but her true objective remains a mystery. The Peril of the Brutal Dark: An Ezra Kane Mystery #6 sends Ezra Kane into the skies in a biplane for a cinematic showdown with Nazi automatons that delivers the pulp-adventure ending the series promised. Swamp Thing (1989) #4 gives Swamp Thing and Abigail a hopeful ending by leaving multiversal versions of themselves behind. Dark Knights of Steel: Heir to the Sea #1 highlights Arthur Curry taking Superman's place as the extraordinary child raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent. Absolute Superman #21 delivers a perfect balance of action and character as Superman shows just how much he cares about the people who can slip through the cracks as much as he cares about world-ending threats like King Shazam. Zatanna #4 has Zatanna learn firsthand from previous Prime Magi that the role isn't what she thought it was. The Flash #35 has Wally learn that with enough data he can stop anything bad from occurring in Central City—but should he be watching everyone? And what happens when he tries to expand that to Metropolis? Action Comics #1100 ends its time-travel story with Superboy coming face-to-face with his older self, while a surprise return from a classic Superman villain leads into the next big event for the Superman Family. Detective Comics #1111 has Batman's investigation uncover the terrifying truth behind the force manipulating generations of the Prion family, and his vow to save them proves the lasting impact Prion had during his brief time with Batman. They also give a rundown of this week's collected editions, reprints and facsimile releases. As always, all books are ranked from top to bottom and each host gives a Book of the Week pick.

The original Supergirl debuted in DC Comics' Action Comics #252 in May 1959, the very first live-action adaptation, the feature film Supergirl, starring Helen Slater, was released in theaters in 1984 which saw Kara, superman's cousin from Krypton who goes to earth herself in order to recover the lost Omega Hedron which is a power source for the planet .............. so its been a while for a live-action take of the Madain of might you might say. Over the decades there have been various uses of Supergirl, most notably the CW take on the character when they were doing ALL those Arrowverse shows at the time, where Melissa Benoist starred as Kara Danvers (Kara Zor-El) in the hit superhero television series Supergirl, which aired on The CW from 2016 to 2021 Now HERE WE ARE coming off the heels of SUPERMAN 2025, and we have the second film from DC Studios, certainly and 'interesting' choice for your second film out of the gate (as some people thought), Nah I'm sorry gang THAT title still belongs to DC's next film CLAYFACE, gee a BATMAN villian solo film with (as far as WE know) NOT a BATMAN in sight, that sounds vaguely familiar .................. but hey we will get to THAT in October  SUPERMAN 2025 felt %100 percent like it was ripped right from the pages of the comic book, but it was EXACTLY a return to the core to what SUPERMAN is, and the point of SUPERMAN, and (most importantly), the reliability of SUPERMAN, which lets be HONEST has not really been struck on the BIG SCREEN since Christopher Reeve, looking back on it through the lens of our cinematic movie year 2026, history was written LOL LOL LOL LOL hahahahahaha the DC brand had begun its collective healing.
