I’m so excited to have Jamie Andrew on the show. Jamie is a true mountain man, dad, motivational speaker, author and charity ambassador. In the late 90s he endured an extended and traumatic accident in the Alps, losing his friend and climbing partner in the process, then his hands and feet to frostbite. Since his amputations Jamie has returned to skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, orienteering, running, hill walking, caving, rock climbing and mountaineering and the list goes on. He has walked up Ben Nevis, run the London Marathon, made many ascents of 4,000m peaks in the Alps, climbed Kilimanjaro and in 2016 ascended the Matterhorn. He’s also grown a beautiful family, with Anna his wife and three children. We talk about his younger years, his memories from the accident, the process of working through the grief and loss, his very many adventures since and his feelings on being an inspiration and role model. If you haven’t read his book Life and Limb, go pick it up and dig in to his story.

We're talking about the 4th Marvel Netflix series. Perhaps our most timely episode yet! Also in this Episode:   Scott ruins Jess's intro. Neckbeards are why we can't have nice comics. Jamie & Andrew stumble across the basics of Human Rights. A male feminist walks into a bar. It was a pretty low bar. We stay on topic for a shockingly long time. Andrew hates Supergirl. Apparently the only drama Ashley has ever seen is The Wire. Panelists: Jamie, Ashley, Andrew, Scott, Jess

Libby Purves meets ventriloquist Steve Hewlett; mountaineer Jamie Andrew; singer and songwriter Ayo and former sheep farmer turned barrister Philip Walling. Steve Hewlett is a comedian and ventriloquist. A ventriloquist since the age of 12, his dummies include Arthur Lager; Simon Cowell and Sinitta and a lamb called Lamb Shank. Steve is touring the UK with his show Thinking Inside The Box. Jamie Andrew is a mountaineer who lost his hands and feet to frostbite after being stranded in a blizzard in the Alps 15 years ago. His close friend and climbing partner died on the mountain. With the help of physiotherapy and prosthetics Jamie learned how to walk again and returned to mountaineering. The documentary The Limbless Mountaineer follows Jamie's progress as he attempts to climb the Matterhorn. The Limbless Mountaineer is broadcast on Channel 5. Ayo Ogunmakin is a singer and songwriter. Born in Cologne to a Nigerian father and Romanian Gypsy mother, her childhood was spent in foster homes after her parents divorced and her mother became a heroin addict. Philip Walling is a former sheep farmer who worked as barrister for over 30 years. In his new book, Counting Sheep, he pays homage to his farming roots. The book focuses on the role of sheep in the history of the British countryside and Philip writes about some of the 60 native breeds that thrive in the UK, exploring their past and future. Counting Sheep - A Celebration of the Pastoral Heritage of Britain is published by Profile Books. Producer: Paula McGinley.
