Hello and welcome to Bill vs the MCU! Each month your hosts Pop Break Podcasting Director Alex Marcus and Pop Break Editor in Chief Bill Bodkin are taking another step into the wider Marvel Multiverse as the MCU dives deeper into their Multiverse Saga. Bill & Alex spent all of 2022 rewatching the first four phases of the MCU, and they just spent 2023 covering the first phase of Netflix's The Defenders Saga and the first four seasons of ABC's Agents of SHIELD. This year, they journeyed into Fox's X-Verse with their X-Treme X-Watch. Now they are back with their Defenders Disassembled miniseries, where they take a tour through all the final seasons of every Marvel Netflix series as they get ready for the triumphant return of Matt, Karen, Foggy, and Frank in Daredevil: Born Again this spring.  First, Bill & Alex were inspired by the recent news that Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell will be returning to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday to give their Top 5 dead or retired Avengers that they most want to see return for the Avengers sequel coming in 2026. After that, stick around for an in depth discussion of the third and final season of Marvel's Jessica Jones. They catch you up on what you may have missed from season two of the series, before diving into whether Jessica Jones vs a Serial Killer felt like a fresh take on Jones' neo-noir roots or a last ditch effort to recapture the magic of season one.  Watch along with us! Now they are back with their Defenders Disassembled miniseries, where they take a tour through all the final seasons of every Marvel Netflix series as they get ready for the triumphant return of Matt, Karen, Foggy, and Frank in Daredevil: Born Again this spring.  First, Bill & Alex won't be doing a proper MCU check in episode until January, when they review Echo and Agatha All Along after they've wrapped up their Defenders coverage, but, recently Marvel Studios released a full rundown of everything to expect from Marvel on Disney Plus in 2025 and released a few new film trailers at their D23 event in Brazil. The 2025 slate of projects include three animated series, three live action series, and, over on the big screen, three feature films, for a total of nine Marvel projects over the next twelve months, and Bill & Alex decided to rank how hyped they are for each.   After that, stick around for an in depth discussion of the third and final season of Marvel's Daredevil. The season pays off the cliffhanger that ended The Defenders, answering the question just how Matt survived an entire skyscraper falling on him and only to wake up being tended to by nuns. It also brings back Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk and sets up a showdown between Matt and a new foe with killer aim who may or may not be the comic character known as Bullseye. Watch along with us! ---- Spotify ► https://spoti.fi/2qhR6lr Apple Podcast ► https://apple.co/3GzfqqD Twitter ► https://www.twitter.com/NerdCulturePC Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/NerdCulture.PC Jelle ► https://www.twitter.com/GKJelle Huey ► https://www.twitter.com/RealHueyBrown Koos ► https://www.twitter.com/jtmooten Outro by Studio Megaane

Let's find out together as we dissect the film from start to finish!TOPICS:(PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 51-minutes discussing the Oscar Nominations, who we think will win, standouts, and the Oscar's as an institution (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)Daredevil has a director's cut with an additional 30+ minutes, content that does contextualize and improve a few plot details and subplots that otherwise are expedited in the theatrical cut.Although it's dependent on what the movie needs at the time, it's neat that this version of Daredevil is, in a way, more blind than the Marvel/Netflix Daredevil, who functionally can just “see” everything despite his condition. This version of Daredevil isn't particularly devout in his Catholicism, and parts of the initial R-rated pitch of the film are evident in the film's tone and violence. Both Colin Farrell's Bullseye and Michael Clarke Duncan's Kingpin are extreme highlights of the movie.Daredevil is noticeably truncated from a much longer cut which results in every sequence feeling like a lightly tethered series of decent scenes.Celebrating the dope early 2000's nu-metal, Hot Topic-esque licensed soundtrack which includes Rob Zombie and Evanescence. After rewatching Daredevil, 20 years later after its release, how do we feel about this early 2000's superhero relic?Recommendations:Born Standing Up by Steve Martin (Book)Overlord (2018) (Movie)We're All Going to the World's Fair (2021) (Movie)Support the showSupport on Patreon for Unique Perks! DA BINGE BOIS ARE BACK TO ASK IMPORTANT QUESTIONS LIKE “WHAT IS THAT” AND LET US TELL YOU SOMETHING IT WASN'T THAT FUN, as we talked about the second season of Netflix's The Punisher! To start off the show for the eighth week in a row we talk about Chainsaw Man and the absolute shell shock and bomb dropper that was this latest episode. After shattering our minds around Chainsaw Man, we dive back into Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Frank Castle more commonly known as the Punisher also known by us as Big Pun. This time around Da Bois engage in dialogue over what was a overall directionless season as too many stories overlapped without the proper amount of time allocated to each one of them, the overall psyche of the Psychiatrist that Billy was piping down, and Enrique's deep love and emotional attachment to the Surrogate daughter & father trope! Next week, Da Bois begin their two week movie vacation with Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel movie to the hit anime series! Timestamps: Chainsaw Man: (00:01:10) The Punisher: (00:22:36) As always thanks for watching, hit us up on social media for a shoutout! Instagram: @DaBingeBois Twitter: @BingeBois TikTok: @DaBingeBois Shoutout BNH for Chill Clap that opens the show every week Series Synopsizes: Chainsaw Man is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Its first part was serialized in Shueisha's shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020; its second part began serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ online magazine in July 2022. Its chapters have been collected in 12 tankoban volumes as of October 2022. Chainsaw Man follows the story of Denji, an impoverished young man who makes a contract that fuses his body with that of a dog-like devil named Pochita, granting him the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. Denji eventually joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency focused on fighting against devils whenever they become a threat to the world. Marvel's The Punisher is an American television series created by Steve Lightfoot for the streaming service Netflix, based on the Marvel Comics character Punisher. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), acknowledging the continuity of the franchise's films and other television series. TV-SHOW DISCUSSION:  Marvel couldn't get through one more show without fans going nuts, and Melvin & Dan are here to parse through the mire. We get through what makes She-Hulk: Attorney at Law extremely fun and a breath of the fresh air, as well as what makes its ending both clever and dull. Topics: (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 33-minutes discussing Phase 4 Marvel, it's ups and downs, the overwhelming content-drip of borderline week-to-week Marvel content and wanting more creativity from Marvel despite knowing its still, you know, Marvel. (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) Daniel details the conception of She-Hulk as a Marvel comic character in the late 70s/early 80s.Daniel, "She-Hulk is, other than WandaVision, one of the only one of these [Marvel shows] to take advantage of the fact that it is a streaming show."Although anyone could have predicted the negative response to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, it was funny to see how the show, episode after episode, would almost commentate on the live-responses it was actively receiving. The CGI in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was a big worry for many, but it looks alright throughout the show. Even so, it seems people are really pining for something real with their film and television, and Marvel continues to frustrate its audience with disorienting or cartoonish CGI.Talking the official return of Daredevil! And finally, a long discussion on the confused feelings Melvin & Dan have with the final episode of the show. There aren't a lot of fourth wall breaks throughout She-Hulk: Attorney at Law so it can make the intense fourth wall break during the final episode extremely jarring. In terms of power levels, thanks to She-Hulk's fourth wall break, does this mean She-Hulk is the most powerful figure in the MCU over Kang the Conqueror and the Celestials? At the end of the day, the stuff that works really well with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is the more grounded, legal procedural stuff than either the standard superhero or the wacko fourth wall breaking stuff, and a second season capitalizing on a week-to-week court-room drama with superheroes could be far more rewarding to watch than this first season's strange content amalgamation.Recommendations: Using justwatch.com to search where movies and shows are streaming. Chuck Klosterman IV: A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas (Book)Support the showSupport on Patreon for Unique Perks! As with most Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, “Strange 2” is revealing itself to be a frontloaded box office affair, though there isn't much on May's release slate that looks to pose much competition except for Focus Features' “Downtown Abbey: A New Era” next week and Paramount's “Top Gun: Maverick” on Memorial Day weekend.   After the expected plummet from a fanatic-packed opening day tally, “Multiverse of Madness” should balance out to around a 67% drop for the weekend. That's on the steeper side of sophomore weekend drops for a Marvel Studios entry, though by starting with the eleventh-biggest domestic debut of all time there isn't anywhere to go from there but down.   On Friday, Disney announced that “Strange 2” had crossed $550 million globally in just nine days. The film should surpass a $300 million domestic gross sometime over the next week.   DISNEY+   Disney+ Will Have Fewer Commercials Than Hulu, But Buyer Demand Is “Extraordinary”, Ad Chief Rita Ferro Says; Netflix And Other Newcomers Should Note “It Isn't Easy” Disney+ Will Have Fewer Commercials Than Hulu, But Buyer Demand Is “Extraordinary”, Ad Chief Rita Ferro Says, And Netflix And Other Newcomers Should Note “It Isn't Easy” – Deadline   Rita Ferro, president of ad sales for Disney, said the forthcoming ad-supported tier of Disney+ will have a less “robust” amount of ads compared with Hulu. That disparity, at least initially, will mainly be because about 65% of subscribers come to the streaming service for movies, which don't lend themselves to commercial interruption.   “Movies are the reason people come to the platform, and movies have a different ad load,” she explained. The family-friendly nature of Disney+ will also limit the scope to “four-quadrant” advertisers. Disney last evening hosted its upfronts pitch to advertisers and aside from a brief tease from CEO Bob Chapek at the outset, there were no specifics offered about the ad tier. Consumer pricing, timing and other details are still TBD.   Speaking alongside Disney CFO Christine McCarthy at a conference hosted by Wall Street research firm MoffettNathanson, Ferro said the plan is to “start slow” with 15- and 30-second spots before adding the full suite of ad options on Disney+. Since the announcement earlier this year about the ad-supported option, she said, “I can't even tell you the demand we've had for this. … The response has been extraordinary.”   ‘Daredevil' Disney+ Series in the Works With Matt Corman, Chris Ord Set to Write (EXCLUSIVE) 'Daredevil' Disney+ Series in the Works With Writers Set (EXCLUSIVE) - Variety   A new “Daredevil” series is moving forward at Disney+, with Variety having exclusively learned from sources that Matt Corman and Chris Ord are attached to write and executive produce.   Rumors have persisted for some time that a Disney+ series about the Man Without Fear was in the works, especially considering that two of the stars of the Netflix “Daredevil” series — Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio — have appeared in recent Marvel projects. Cox once again played Matt Murdock, the secret identity of Daredevil, in the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” while D'Onofrio reprised the role of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”   It now appears that the project is picking up steam with the hiring of Corman and Ord, although Marvel has yet to announce anything regarding the show formally.   Fans have been clamoring for more Daredevil ever since the Netflix series was canceled in 2018 after three seasons. They were in for a long wait, however, as Variety reported in 2018 that the deal with Netflix included a clause that prevented any characters from the Marvel-Netflix shows from appearing in any non-Netflix projects for two years after cancellation.   The move came as Disney looked to bring its Marvel heroes under one umbrella, with multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe shows having since debuted on Disney+. “Moon Knight” starring Oscar Isaac was the last such show to premiere, with a trailer for the “She-Hulk” series starring Tatiana Maslany dropping earlier this week.   She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Gets Disney+ Premiere Date — New Trailer Reveals Jameela Jamil's Villainous Titania https://tvline.com/2022/05/17/she-hulk-trailer-release-date-disney-plus-video/#recipient_hashed=a5f3f1bf6ce5c428ba6c8408620c6c38d7f27f4c366c84aa1d913bc1a3ffc188   Marvel's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, starring Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) in the title role, will premiere Wednesday, Aug. 17, TVLine has confirmed.  The announcement was made official during Disney's Upfront presentation in New York, where the streamer also unveiled the first official trailer.  In addition to Maslany as Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk, the show's cast also includes Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much Is True) as Bruce Banner aka The Hulk, Tim Roth (Twin Peaks) as Emil Blonsky aka Abomination, Ginger Gonzaga (Kidding) as Jennifer's BFF, Renée, Elise Goldsberry (Girls5Eva) as Amelia, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place) as Titania.  She-Hulk is the latest in a long line of Marvel series produced for Disney+. Previous releases included WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye and Moon Knight. Still to come are Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion and Ironheart, among numerous other series and holiday specials.   Disney+ She-Hulk Trailer - and CG issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gim2kprjL50 https://www.cbr.com/she-hulk-cgi-panic/ https://www.cbr.com/mcu-she-hulk-fans-concern-cgi/   Echo's First Look - It's only a picture https://www.marvel.com/articles/tv-shows/echo-alaqua-cox-maya-lopez-first-image   Disney Really Pushing To Sell Commercials At Higher Prices https://deadline.com/2022/05/disney-plus-advertising-streaming-rita-ferro-upfronts-1235027341/   ‘Daredevil' Disney+ Series in the Works With Matt Corman, Chris Ord Set to Write (EXCLUSIVE) https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/daredevil-disney-plus-series-matt-corman-chris-ord-1235272299/   OUTRO AND BONUS AUDIO [49:59]   We would love to hear back from you!
