Our General Manager Riley returned to the Bench for this Ede-hosted game. During this game, Walling mused about a Pre & Post Game answer of Jonathan Mingo-Daddy.com Arena, we discussed the acceptable amount of urine allowed at an NFL Draft - we agreed on somewhere between the amounts at the drafts in Kansas City (National WWI Museum and Memorial) and in Green Bay (Lambeau Field), and Riley (jokingly) answered "Five People at Freddy's" for an MTV show halftime question (we all agreed that was way too clever for MTV). #poutine #shedeursanders #abdulcarter #jaxsondart #jonathanmingo #urine #nfldraft https://dobosdelights.com/ Promo Code: CheckYourTaint https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast

Guest Trey Cleeter returned to the Bench for this Josh-hosted game. During this game, Mason and Walling once again come up with an underwhelming team name, Walling pre-called a Sporting Haiku answer (Josh has gotten too predictable), Ede missed a hockey question (and it wasn't even about women), Josh tried out a movie soundtrack CV Halftime Show, and Walling almost challenged Josh (AGAIN) on if a player was actually a small forward. #thehammer #wallingisaprecog #joshispredictable #edeshootsandmisses #challengeflag #smallforward https://dobosdelights.com/ Promo Code: CheckYourTaint https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast

In it, Walling kicks us off with a top tier dad joke, Mason raises some Ds throughout the game, we discuss pricey players and former Yankees, and the players attempt to get inside the mind of an enigma. Assistant Coach Marc Grenier teamed up with Walling to face Mason and Josh in this Matt-hosted game. David Luks hosts this all-Benchwarmer game with Eric Walling & Josh teaming up to face Tako & Mason. It was a grouchy game all around as we learn early on that Mason is playing with a double ear infection, Walling has a hate scale, and Josh, well, Josh isn't a big fan of a David clue. Luckily (or Luksily?), most of that hits the cutting room floor before David and Josh have to make semantic arguments in a steel cage. The circle of hate is broken long enough for Mason & Tako to brainstorm about generic white guy names, and Tako poses Guardians Legend Ryan Garko as a guess. https://dobosdelights.com/ Promo Code: CheckYourTaint https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast

On Episode 143, I welcome back Kevin Walling for his third appearance on the show. Because who doesn't love a good trilogy? You might call it Return of the Electoral Jedi. Kevin is a political strategist and political media consultant who has run for office and supported candidacies for numerous leaders elected to office. Having known Kevin now for over a decade, I consider his stoicism and political pragmatism to be a salve on the wound that keeps getting reopened in the experiment that is democracy in the United States. Nearly four years to the day since we last recorded, Kevin joined me to talk about how much has changed since the 2020 election, which was supposed to be the most consequential election of our lifetimes. That is, until this one. Thanks for listening and please get out and vote.
Assistant Coaches Trevor Hogg and Marc Grenier team up to present a game all about non-Big Three sports! In this episode, we wonder if colds are transmissable via Zoom, Walling has white guy country club problems and wishes death on an entire family, Josh declares war on Louisiana and is sent into a midlife darts crisis, and Luks and Tako fail to think about women, and have a "good talk". #sumo #pink #carrieunderwood #paralympics #olympics #goodtalk https://dobosdelights.com/ Promo Code: CheckYourTaint https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast

Equipment Manager Hugh Gitlin retuns to the bench in this Luks-hosted game. Hugh teamed with Eric to take on the duo of Scott & Mason. Despite his many appearances, Hugh still doesn't quite get the audio medium, imitating one player's batting stance, and sharing his recent gift from the MS-150 bike ride. The teams have a chance to play name generation for old-timey baseball names. Walling searches his roldoex for exercise names, and notes that one person clearly sounds like they were at Hogwarts. Scott also wishes for a new Disney show, "That's So David!". (it's not going to happen). Assistant Coach Scott Hyland returned to the Bench for this Josh-hosted game. In it we learned that all four players would have dinner with a living baseball player if given the opportunity, that the players ponder if there is such a thing as a hereditary foot fetish, that Scott (Grimes) made reference to Dan's Benchwarmer grave, that Markkus thinks snooker sounds too much like a slur, that Scott (Hyland) wants the ChatGPT halftime to be retired, that Walling may agree with that sentiment as he responded "I hate that...go with it" to one of said halftime questions, and that Walling asked of his teammate, "Scott, name a country." #lollipop #barbershop #jonathanlucroy #shirsey #reggiewayne #waynebrady #hereditary #footfetish #grave #snooker #slur #chatgpt #nameacountry https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast

In this episode, Angela has a conversation with her good friend Jessica Walling (formerly Torres) who Angela actually recorded one of her very first episodes of Heaven & Healing Podcast with! Watch that episode here: https://youtu.be/cQ59njG0Bvg Jessica shares a brief summary of her testimony (you can catch the whole episode in the link above) and from there, gets into her calling as entrepreneurship within the faith-based sphere, working through a Proverbs 31 biblical framework as she coaches other women in starting their own home-based businesses. A huge focus of this conversation talks about the difference between the secularist/New Age worldview of a woman stewarding business VS that of the Proverbs 31 woman we see depicted in Scripture, as well as the difference in financial intention and resource distribution. Niche topics include generosity, poverty vs. prosperity gospel, tithing, persecution and sin. This conversation is to encourage any woman out there who feels led to initiate a faith-based business but has been experiencing warfare against the pursuit, out of guilt or condemnation from herself or others! Jessica and Angela want to assure you that a woman working with her hands is biblical, the Lord will correct you as you go, and that you are not wrong for earning a lying using the gifts that God has blessed you with. Eric Ede hosted this fun game pitting David & Walling against Scott and Assistant Coach (and long-time Sporting News writer) Vinnie Iyer. From the jump, David had some internet issues, which led to the inevitable team name. Walling & David were threatened early by Ede's potential bonus points for wrong answers. The teams also discussed Billie Joe Tolliver (and as Ede pointed out, it's something we need to talk about more), the Rashard Mendenhall experiment, and finally testosterone & popped collars. Ede also backed his way into an accidental David question. Has BTP jumped the shark? You tell us. #nickanderson #butterflyeffect #sportingnews #internetissues #bonuspoints #wronganswers #billiejoetolliver #rashardmendenhall #poppedcollars #jumpedtheshark https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast
Assistant Coach Josh Snyder joined the bench and hosted this game that featured all-benchwarmer players with teams of Eric Walling & Scott Grimes versus Matt Dougherty & Matt Takimoto. In it, we learned about uncastrated wild boar Wednesday, Vodka Drunkinski to wash down your Drysdale Chicken, D2 the Mighty Ducks makes a comeback, Josh discovers a new way to monetize leisure activities, special teams are very unspecial, and no one remembers kick sixes. Oh, and Walling got a 1330 on his SATs. #SATS #WildBoardWednesday #UncleRicoEnergy #TopKite #ScottNorton #JohnDenver #IWasToldThereWouldBeNoShakespeare #1330 #SecondBestGlennon #SuperCanadians #SuperMario https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast
Assistant Coach Adrian Bias and Equipment Manager Joe O'Brien returned to the Bench for this Walling-hosted game. In it, we learned that Walling and Joe were both suffering from jet lag from recent European trips, that Joe couldn't get Jonathan Cheechoo out of his head, that there should be a penalty box for BTP players (e.g., two minutes for skimming), that David could only get the rhythm of a player's name and not the name itself (it wasn't Wu-Tang Clan), and that Joe had two "misplaced feel bads" (ask David). Oh yeah, and archbishop Desmond Tutu got a shout-out during the episode. #flamingthumbtacks #tombrunansky #thewire #jetlag #europe #jonathancheechoo #penaltybox #rhythmofhisname #misplacedfeelbad #desmondtutu https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast
On the surface, Ruthie Walling is your typical teenager. If you look a little closer you'll see a girl who's been through more in her 15 years than most people go through in a lifetime. Ruthie was born with a congenital heart defect, and she went through multiple surgeries and was given a pacemaker when she was just a baby.Another physical hurdle Ruthie's had to overcome is an 89% curvature in her spine, which became unbearable by the time she was 14 years old.Last year, Ruthie and her family made the incredibly difficult decision to move forward with a surgery that would straighten her spine. It took some convincing to find a group of doctors to take her very rare and complicated case, but they found their dream team of cardiologists and orthopedic surgons at the University of Cincinnati. Thanks to this incredible group of medical professionals, Ruthie came out of her surgery a few inches taller and with more confidence than ever.I love Ruthie and the entire Walling family, and she's living proof that true badasses come in all shapes and sizes!
In this special game, Dan hosted a fatal four-way match with four teams of two benchwarmers each. Almost right off the jump, Dan chose chaos, and introduced a brand-new game style, tempting fate, and risking Josh's dreaded eyeroll. Newest Benchwarmer, Matt Takimoto, gave his teammate confidence when he espoused that he "doesn't remember it, but he doesn't not remember it." Helpful, Matt. We also learned of John Adams' Secretary of State/Cabinet Member, Olandis. Walling extends his social NFL football fandom, and is now rooting for everyone! Most importantly, Dan made a plan, and he followed through. #djcooper #fourway #chaos #eyeroll #helpful #johnadams #olandis #nfl #danwithaplan #solong #farewell #aufwiedersehen #goodbye https://www.patreon.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.facebook.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.twitter.com/benchwarmerstp https://www.instagram.com/benchwarmerstp/ https://www.teepublic.com/stores/benchwarmers-trivia-podcast
There are certain questions no one else can answer for us. In Matthew 16, Jesus asks his disciples two such questions, and they are questions people still have to face today. How we answer will determine the trajectory of our entire life.
There's much to be gained when we listen to what Jesus said about prayer and look at how Jesus prayed: his priority on getting time with God, his teachings to encourage us in resilient prayers, and even the intimate prayers recorded in the Gospels between God the Father and God the Son. It's all there for us to experience communion with God when we follow Jesus into the secret place of prayer.
This week's game ball goes to Kevin Walling. The Democratic strategist joined Jimmy for a civil discussion about Hunter Biden's plea deal falling apart, the possibility of House Republicans moving to impeach President Biden and why Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is struggling in the 2024 GOP primary polls.
