In this episode: Dan Pechacek and Andy Othling start off this jouney of Object Worship with an interview with Tom Majeski. Tom is the brain behind the now defunct Cooper FX and is now DSP designer at Chase Bliss. Tom's chosen Object is the famed Korg Kaoss Pad. Well ahead of the curve of touch screen and tactile-reactive tech, the Kaoss Pad is truly in a lane all its own. After some dips into the depths of nostalgia, Tom talks about the design process of MOOD MKii. Follow Tom's work at http://www.chasebliss.com Object Worship is a production of the OBNE Podcast Network. All Rights Reserved 2023http://oldbloodnoise.com

Cities and Memory - remixing the sounds of the world

Elizabeth Line opening day reimagined by Simon Woods. "The 'Kaoss' of the title refers, not to any chaos that may or may not have occurred on the opening day of the Elizabeth Line, but to the use of Korg Kaoscillator and Kaoss Pad in the composition. All the percussion is made from sounds of the doors closing or other bangs and crashes on the journey. The two chords are from the tone of the train moving."

After being absent for many months, we would like to revive our podcast series by introducing you to one of the finest artists we could ever present - Danaga! (https://soundcloud.com/danaga) This superb producer was born and raised in one of the wildest and mysterious areas of the old continent: the region of Transylvania, in Romania, where he grew up in the analog era, studying the classic guitar and the piano and collecting music on cassettes. The secrecy and mystique of that land is well represented in Danaga's productions, which are beautifully displayed in the live recording. For this Mix he used Elektron Analog Keys, Hohner Pianet T, Memory Man Analog Delay, a cheap romanian Stratocaster Guitar, Kaoss Pad, PVC homemade flutes and various percussion instruments. It comes as a sort of music diary telling of the ‘transformative experience' he went through while experimenting with those Instruments in the last years. Unlike other mixes of our series, this is not a musical journey, but rather a flow which is neither meant to lead anywhere, nor to serve a function. It is only meant to be. This intriguing concept follows the ideas of the British philosopher and writer Alan Watts, which inspired Danaga while recording the mix. We wish you all a wonderful awakening. In this episode, Paul, Mark and Chris kick off the Second Qualifying Round in style, joined by their friend Emre Ramadan to run the rule over eight SM+Jicks tracks. As usual, there's plenty of respectful chat and probably too much dinner party chat but show Mark and his life some damn respect. Opinions are changed and realisations are realised as the gang chats about these songs for the second time... and Emre puts everyone to shame by actually having good opinions and doing research so THANKS A LOT, Emre. This episode's matchups are: Pencil Rot vs ACC Kirtan / J Smoov vs Love the Door / Asking Price vs Freeze the Saints / We Can't Help You vs Dark Wave. Follow us on Twitter if you like terrible tweets: @thepaulcarlin @themarkedwards @thegallatron. Emre isn't on Twitter but we'll pass on a message.

Radius ETC. x Sev SeveerLive beats & exclusive music. All for you. Just for you.PART 1: RADIUS (00:30-24:10)PART 2: SEV SEVEER (24:10-54:44)Radius comes from Chicago’s Southside but really a resident of the earth, a traveling beat maker. Designing sound since 2001, Radius has made quite a name for himself in today’s beat scene. He has successfully ran the LA circuit, gaining respect and head nods from the likes of Low End Theory, dublab and Beat Cinema to name a few. He’s released music in almost every format from 7″ vinyl, cassettes, cd and digital. Radius only needs the most minimal set up, a MPC 1000, a Korg Kaossilator Pro and Korg Kaoss Pad Mini to perform his improv beat sets. He packs light, travels heavy and extracts everything he needs out of the little that he carries.Sev Seveer comes from the Northside of the Chi, with a background of journalism, in college he participated in Hip Hop Congress, hosted and DJed radio shows from “Beats n Rhymes” on WPGU 107.1 to “The Hip Hop Project” on WLUW 88.7 FM. He has managed to find time in all of that to create his own path with music. With many releases under his belt, some of his most notable works include Freddie Gibbs’ “Terrorist (Seveer Transmission Remix)” as well as featured releases with Pragmatic Theory, Push Beats Chicago and composing bed music for The Roy Ayers Project. No stranger to the live element, Sev has plugged in and played his SP and Kaoss Pad at SXSW for the last two years (2013: DJ Set, 2014: Beat Set), featured at Beat Swapmeet and opened for Elaquent. What drew us to these guys was their ability to completely bend any rules of limitation on standard production, they take their own path and finish ahead of the rest. But that’s not the only reason. There’s something about these two that we can’t really put into words. Its more of the intangible nature. Maybe its their ability to be independent and on the move. Maybe its their good spirits. Maybe its their connectedness to the Earth…Its probably all of that and then some.At the point of publishing this episode, neither producer has heard the mix of the other. So not only will it be your first time hearing this episode in full, it’ll be theirs as well. We’re sending a huge THANK YOU to the guys for all of their hard work on this episode.
