Ever sold your dog for a fat check and got a standing ovation for it? That's how Aaron Spivak describes selling the company he built from scratch into a $50M powerhouse. In this episode of The Liquid Lunch Project, Matt and Luigi sit down with Aaron, the DJ-turned-juice-slinger-turned-weighted-blanket-mogul, to unpack how grit, delusion, and one viral Kickstarter helped him build Hush, one of the top DTC brands in Canada. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The stroke that changed everything…and how a side hustle became a lifeline Why Aaron still DJed after hitting $25M in revenue The secret power of calling every single customer (yes, really) How to turn a blanket into a movement (and a $50M exit) What Dragon's Den taught him about performance, not pitching The real emotional chaos of selling your “business baby” Why Founders Club isn't another BS mastermind — and who it's really for Who is Aaron?Aaron Spivak is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded Revita, Hush Blankets, and most recently Founders Club, a global community for high-growth founders. Tottenham full back Djed Spence joins Rio and Joel and delivers a fascinating insight into the role of a current full-back in the Premier League. He reveals why Antonio Conte was “never happy” at Spurs and the role team mate James Maddison has played in his recent run of impressive form plus his reaction to Maddison's back and forth with Manchester United legend Roy Keane.Spence believes he suffered from being “too humble” after arriving at Spurs and details the struggles he went through on loan spells in France and at Leeds. There's reflection on his time at Middlesbrough under Neil Warnock and what happened in the altercation with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following a recent match.Following intense scrutiny of Ange Postecoglu's tactical principles, Spence reveals what the demands are for his players and why the players will never deviate from his strident philosophy. He also discusses why he believes Kyle Walker is the Premier League's best ever right-back and the two best players he's played with and the importance of young players being able to show their personality and his reaction to Myles Lewis-Skelly's Erling Haaland inspired celebration.Timecodes:00:02:30 Djed Spence Is Feeling Different This Season00:04:15 How Long It Took For Djed To Feel Comfortable At Spurs00:05:20 Difficulties Of Constantly Going Out On Loan00:08:50 Djed “Football Is Not Fair” 00:11:00 Djed Give Too Much Respect To Spurs Teammates 00:14:05 Never Getting A Chance Until Now00:14:40 Djed's Reaction To Ange Comments On His Development 00:17:00 Rio Remembering Watching Djed When His Morale Was Low 00:18:15 Antonio Conte's Management Of Djed00:20:35 Djed's Assessment Of Conte's Quotes On Him00:23:20 Neil Warnock “You'll Either Be Non-League Or Premier League”00:24:30 What Drives Djed To Be Better And Improve Every Day00:25:05 Djed On What Pep Guardiola Said To Him Post-Match00:28:00 Commenting On Doku's Instagram - Players Personalities00:29:55 Djed On Myles Lewis-Skelly's Celebration00:31:00 The Importance Of Player's Showing Their Personalities00:32:00 Was It Djed Spence Playing In YouTuber's Charity Match?00:34:10 What Are Djed And Spurs' Ambitions? Discord & Rhyme continues its slow walk through the world of Post-Rock with an examination of the 1996 album Millions Now Living Will Never Die by the Chicago-based group Tortoise. John has been fascinated by the concept of Post-Rock for many years (even if many of the acts associated with it, Tortoise included, rejected it as a useful descriptor), and a large part of this fascination stems from a love he has had for this album for over 20 years. In this episode, John, Mike, Rich, and Dan try to make sense not only of how one should define one of the most ambiguous genres out there, but also of why an instrumental album in that genre (possibly), mostly lacking clear traditional melodies and traditional song structures (the opening “Djed” is 21 minutes by itself), is clearly one of the best albums any of us have ever heard. Regardless of whether Tortoise is Post-Rock, Prog, both, or neither, this is an album worth learning about, and Discord & Rhyme is up to the challenge.Cohosts: John McFerrin, Mike DeFabio, Rich Bunnell, Dan WatkinsComplete show notes: https://discordpod.com/listen/156-tortoise-millions-now-living-will-never-die-1996Discord & Rhyme's merch store: http://tee.pub/lic/discordpodSupport the podcast! https://www.patreon.com/discordpod

Over time, this experience sparked a deep passion for DJing, and he's spent the past year perfecting his craft. While his heart belongs to jungle and drum & bass, he's drawn to any genre with fast tempos, heavy basslines, and soulful samples. His sets fuse the atmospheric soulfulness of Jungle and Footwork with the raw, high-energy punch of Ghettotech, creating a unique, upbeat energy for the crowd. For the next CLUBCAST @WhitneyWeiss delivered a bangn hour of Rhythmic Pumping House Music...right up my alley :) US-born Europe-based DJ/producer Whitney Weiss got their formal start playing 8+ hour stretches in Argentinean factories and parks before cutting their teeth as a resident at Dengue Dancing, a decadent weekly party in Buenos Aires. After five frenetic years in the Buenos Aires underground, they relocated to Berlin for a quieter pace of life. Based between Berlin and Paris for over a decade, Whitney's held residencies in London (Dalston Superstore) and Paris (Club Sandwich, Strangé) and DJed all around Europe, the UK, and New York, including repeat sets at some of the queer underground's best parties and festivals. She's also logged performances on The Lot Radio, NTS, and Teki Latex's French TV Show Overdrive Infinity. Whitney has released tracks on New York's Major Records, Nervous Records, Cómeme, and her own imprint, Chinotto Records and is in her tenth year on Rinse France.

Starlight Thursdays Episode Episode 207 featuring MumbleBee TSB2DJsWaLB2BI Pandaura (that's a new slang that/acronym which means transitioning smoothly between 2 djs with a little b2b inbetween) Commonly shortened to "-->" last year MumbleBee and Pandaura played a lot together, including two new years ago, so I couldn't imagine a better way to end the year and to kick off what was ultimately an amazing party. Conversation between MumbleBee and pandaura. Going b2b with you feels so natural, Pandaura. “Yes I agree MumbleBee!” “Now that I think about, we played b2b at least a little bit, and sometimes for like 6 hours, at every event I even DJed last year lol”. “Wow damn you're right! From bar balconies to burning man! And every missoula basement inbetween!” This mix is filled with fantastic beats that hop from house to drum and bass. Starting with MumbleBee then moving to a b2b session with Pandaura before he took it to the end. It's always special when we remember to hit record and capture the moment sonically. This one brings me right back to this magic moment when we stood on the edge of 2023 knowing there'd be something new on the horizon for us all.
Starlight Thursdays Episode 204 featuring BeKBee. The combination of BK Love back to back with MumbleBee. This mix was recorded live in Tulum Mexico at Buuts Ha Cenote Club. This was my first time traveling in a group of friends. 7 of our Starlight Reunion collective rallied to the call to head south. Katie C and I explored Tulum the year prior. We started off at a jungle rave put together by a Burning Man Camp that went well past sunrise. It was located at a Cenote (a natural pit, or sinkhole filled with fresh water) surrounded by dense forest. The following night we found ourselves at a beach club that looked like a massive teepee, with large concrete sculptures of human hands at its perimeter. That same night we ended up in the city center at a rooftop club and kept dancing. I had the realization that there were three or four different kinds of places DJed parties were taking place in Tulum. The Cenotes, the beach and city center, jungle too but cenotes are in the jungle anyway so I don't know. I started calling it the Tulum dance party trifecta and felt like it's probably a thing already. My intrigue with Mexico's dance capital has been persistent. I did my best to inspire some of my friends who I thought would appreciate the unique complexity of this place. I felt it would be a good experience for us to get out of the country and explore art. After a few days of touring around as a crew we began to get acclimated. We started making new friends with the same love for music and dancing we have. I was pretty sure we had to do the Tulum Dance Party Trifecta! I certainly didn't think we'd get to DJ it, nor was it my intention to figure out how. The universe works in crazy fucking ways. With the help of the new friends we made, more than what we imagined came to be. There's no way I can explain it all here. I'm still trying to fully comprehend it. I can say this much though. To me this mix is a testament to what is possible when we put ourselves out there and are open to sharing with one another. We took a trip not really knowing what to expect or if we packed all the right things. Not only seeking sun mid winter, but looking for an experience. We didn't travel all that way to make it all about us and our desires or needs. We took a moment out of our lives to connect with people, to share our curiosity for one another and learn each other's ways and rhythms. - BK Love -

Episode 240 features Vinyl Vows, a wedding band and DJ package in the DMV. The lineup includes myself, DJ Will Cole, The Big Laird, Lynette, & Christian. Will Cole has successfully DJed hundreds of weddings and is now inviting our band to join him. The addition of a band component makes Vinyl Vows unique, offering a comprehensive musical experience for weddings. I would describe the project as a supergroup of sorts, featuring the best musicians I've worked with in the cover scene over the years. In our conversation, we talked about all our fun stories and strategies for making a wedding or event the best it can be. If you have been in a wedding band yourself, I'm sure you'll get a laugh out of it. For those interested, more information can be found on Vinyl Vows' social media profiles, and inquiries can be made via email. The band bundle can also include video services as needed, adding an extra dimension to the wedding experience. Thank you for listening and supporting local music. House Shoes, the vaunted Detroit DJ/producer who championed Dilla before most, executive produced And Then There Was Light… and Triple Lindy, releasing both on his label, Street Corner Music. A veritable beat scholar, Shoes articulates Sndtrak's talents and the joy of watching him dismantle a sample as well as anyone.Born and raised in East Oakland, Sndtrak is descended from a musical family. Louisianan grandparents on both sides played zydeco, a musical hybrid of blues, country, and Cajun music. His mechanic father DJed before he was born and always cued him a steady mix of '80s boogie from groups like Con-Funk-Shun and Heat Wave. By the time Sndtrak could speak, he begged his mom to request his favorite rap songs on music video channel The Box. Now, part of The Soul Council, the sky is the limit for Superproducer Sndtrak. This week's episode is brought to you by Manscaped! WEBSITE https://www.thesupplementacademy.com/resources SOCIAL MEDIA @katemahoneyntp Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/katemahoneyntp/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KateMahoneyNTP In this Podcast Episode: Kate Mahoney discussed her journey to becoming a supplement expert, including her rare autoimmune condition, her experience with reformulating recipes, her collaboration with master herbalists, and her enrollment in a functional health practitioner program. Kate Mahoney, Supplement Academy Founder, realized she was a supplement expert after multiple people she looked up to told her at the same time. She then went on to teach and create courses, and emphasizes the importance of sourcing real food before supplementing. She also warns against taking methylated folate unless it is needed, as it can lead to toxicity issues. Kate dives into the three categories of supplements: support, cofactors, and repair. She also suggests that people drink enough clean water every day and not drink water with meals as it dilutes the gastric juices needed to digest food. She also suggests that due to depleted soil, people may need to supplement their diets with vitamins and minerals to get the nutrients they need.
