If you've ever heard two Japanese people in conversation, you might notice the listener making funny sounds while the other person is talking. In this episode I will introduce the Japanese word for this sound, and why we do this so much. Link to KT Tatara's “Not Asian Enough”: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CZYI5ujAU1A
Before I got into stand up comedy, I went to go see a show at the hollywood laugh factory. The first Asian stand up I have ever seen in my life was this dude name Kt Tatara. He was basically the equivalent of a keanu reeves, deep down we all knew he had some Asian in him but no one cared cause it was keanu reeves. This dude was mixed and just funny, I sat and watched wondering how anyone could get up there and do what he did. 15 years later we are performing on the same shows together. We all start some where and have an influence for anything we do, Kt as that dude to me. Todahe drops by the studio to talk about his humble beginnings, skateboarding playing the trombone and how he got into the game. Being a finalist in a comedy contest that led him to opening for Wanda Sykes and making his way to LA. This was a great learning experience for me because not only did it bring me back full circle this podcast taught me the guts and work ethic it takes to be a true stand up comedian. You can follow him on instagram @kttatatara
