In this episode of Girl, You So Random, I had the pleasure of talking with Comedian, D'Marie born and raised in LA. She's a standup comedienne whose style of comedy is observational and definitely her own! She's performed at Hollywood Improv, Ice-House Comedy Club, Pioneer Dancer Awards (honoring the legendary “Original Lockers” Dance Group, presented by The Dancer Jo Foundation), and more! Studying under the “Comedy Teacher's Teacher,” Greg Dean, as well as the comedic legend and “King of Venice Beach,” Michael Colyar, D'Marie's act can range from her family, to her relationship and slight addiction to Randy's Doughnuts, all the way to exploring why men over 75 always seem to approach her - don't ask. She may be considered a millennial, but she's got a soul of gold which allows her to reach audiences both young and old. She believes that her stage presence, honesty, transparency, and desire to have and bring fun onstage are what truly stands out in her act. Meet my very funny friend Andrew Cornelius. We met taking classes with. Marc Warzecha at the Sketch School. His sketch writing is dynamic and he has helped me as a writer. Andrew is a Los Angeles based comic whose comedic roots came from a decade of improv comedy experience in Chicago and New York before he focused exclusively on stand-up comedy eight years ago. He was the host of Intrigue.TV's “Just Eat It!,” a restaurant review show that is available on YouTube. Andrew also played “Preston” in the indie comedy feature, “Captain Hagen's Bed & Breakfast” streaming on Amazon. He made two appearances on Comedy Central's “Inside Amy Schumer.” Sometimes children recognize him as “Coach Scalp” from Nick Jr.'s “Platy & Jackie's Mixed Up Challenges.” Through Cool Beans Comedy, Andrew is coach / instructor at the Ice House Comedy Club for beginner and intermediate stand-up comedy classes. Andrew is a whiskey aficionado and has logged over 200 different tastings in his journal. However, he probably forgot to log another hundred or so over his lifetime. A shocking turn of events in Los Angeles, breaking news. If you want to cover “I Drive A Fast Car,” I hope you get in one and drive it into a tree. I hate the driver of a Tesla, more or less-la. Travel rage-ency. Rocha and the wretched Virzis at the Ice House, with Daryl Hammond-cheese sandwich. Corrriiinnnne's beach birthday party, and a shotgun-shoppin Sunday.

A really fun interview of one of my few peers as a comedy club owner..Bob Fisher, who took over the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena CA back in 1978, and operated it for 41 years. We discuss what it was like running a comedy club and some of the ups & downs of operating this kind of business. Bob name drops some of the people he worked with, like George Carlin, Robin Williams, Bill Mar, Dana Carvey, and more. I enjoyed this interview, and think you will as well.Hosted by: R. A movement dedicated to creating positive race relations by sharing inspiring stories of the good things that Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, White, and Mixed people are doing for each other and America! ABOUT RON BUSH Ron Bush is an African American LA based LGBTQIA stand up comedian, actor, and writer from Philadelphia, PA. Ron mixes personal stories with sharp social commentary to convey powerful messages to his audience. Ron studied acting and directing with John Coppola for 12 years, together they produced over 100 live sketch comedy shows at Studio C Artists, Theatre Row Hollywood. Ron has been a touring comedian for 8 years, had a monthly residency at The Comedy Store and was a paid regular at Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena. His inspiration comes from over 20 years of experience as an executive in the tech industry, being raised by a divorced single mom, and being mentored by one of the countries leading Jungian based psychologist, gay activist, and first openly gay white professor at Howard University in the 70's. Ron is recognized as a leading voice in the LA stand up LGBTQ comedy community. His podcast, Positive Identity, with Stephen Grey is gaining popularity as they talk about the positive aspects of racial issues in America today. ABOUT STEPHEN GREY Stephen Grey Is a filmmaker by day and a social advocate by night. Born with Autism (Asperger's Syndrome), he grew up with a divergent experience from his White American background and came to see how influential identity and perception could be. He then set out to Hollywood to partner with the outsiders of society like him by making films to tell their stories and support them through advocacy. Stephen's filmmaking themes focus on stories of people that society thought were bad but were good and are heavily defined by Race Relations, Autism, Identity, Culture and Morality. He has produced films that cover the cultural spectrum and worked with filmmakers from all backgrounds. Stephen deeply loves America and believes its people have done incredible things… and that there's much more good to come. His advocacy has been his great passion. He's a member of the American Association for Access, Equity and Diversity, The Alliance for Media Arts and Culture, The Color of Change and ran dinners for Herb Wesson's EmbraceLA which brought together Angelenos to talk about race and identity. This focus on identity and perception culminated in the founding of Positive Identity, which seeks to spread inspiring media to show people of all races in a positive light, doing good things for each other and for America. Positive perception creates positive action and Positive Identity does just that. Growing up he saw how when people read positive media about people with Autism that it changed how they saw him, and how he saw himself. This foundation spurred the focus on identity, race and perception and laid the foundation for Positive Identity where he aims to do good for all of society. He hopes that one day he will be a filmmaker advocate by day, and by night Learn more: ThePositiveIdentity.com

Corey and Matt catch up with Cool Beans Comedy favorite, comedian Taylor Tomlinson, after finishing her set on the Ice House Comedy Club main stage. They discuss her new found recognition, high school, Matt's desire for kids, reading to children, being fat, and mustard sweaters. Do enjoy! "Taylor Tomlinson started doing stand up comedy at just sixteen years old, when she realized that her quiet, sarcastic asides were not being adequately appreciated by her peers. Her self-deprecating charm and conversational wit have made her a favorite at comedy clubs, colleges, corporate events, and other suspicious, rented spaces across the country. She was featured in her own regular segment ("Young as Hell") on Laughs on FOX season 1 and can now be seen hosting the show every week. She was a top ten finalist on season 9 of NBC's Last Comic Standing and can be seen on the upcoming season of Adam Devine's House Party on Comedy Central." *Source. Christian Lee was born when his father was finishing seminary in Atlanta, GA. Having a preacher for a father wasn’t always easy, and trying to follow in his footsteps proved quite tricky. Leaving Bible college unsure of his path, Christian spent years in the 'real world' making sure everyone around him had access to what they needed... namely the Internet. He broke down the doors of corporate America at age 19 with EDS, moving up quickly with firms like IBM, even the U.S. Army. The web design field was a gateway into how people thought, where they liked to spend their time, and what they thought was funny."I had what could only be called a revelation. What I felt needed to be heard from the stage, especially at churches, wasn’t being said. I started writing down all the jokes and stories that had been building inside. Then, I went in search of a mic stand and a crowd. After years of toil, comes the fruit of your labor. I'm fulfilling my dream and I'm not looking back!"Christian performs across the country. He just returned from a stint in CA where he taped a show at the world famous Ice House Comedy Club.
