The Metapattern project is a live improvised rhythm project in the style of techno featuring a modular synthesizer, drum machine and Ableton live running through a digital mixer capable of many effect and loop layers. The performances are based on rhythmic and tonal elements shaped by the mood and situation. The energy of this music is designed to engage listeners in a spiral or tunnel of repeating, merging and shape shifting patterns. Moods range from minimal, melodic, uplifting, dark and industrial. Coefficient is one of the most interesting techno artists of the british scene. After numerous releases on Labrynth, Duality and M_REC Ltd, Coefficient has perfected a heavy and uniquely innovative style. In his productions you can hear the influence of his knowledge of the roots of techno, but especially his experience as a sound engineer. His techno incorporates an experimental aesthetic with a strong emphasis on tonal atmospheres, FM synthesis and electronic drones. The evolution of the Coefficient project has brought his music to the attention of the whole world techno scene. The 25th episode of the Avenue Red Podcast series comes from Hydergine (AKA Roberto Corizzo), a Dub Techno producer and esteemed vinyl collector/DJ from Taranto, Italy. His productions are very deep and textural, most notable for having a somewhat futuristic and scientific aesthetic, which is one of the foundational concepts of his work under the Hydergine moniker - as Roberto explains: "The pseudonym is inspired by a smart drug used to improve the metabolism of brain cells and cognitive abilities such as intelligence, learning and memory". His music has been released on a variety of well-respected labels including Separate Skills, Analog Response, Phlox, Ranges and Tiefenrausch. A prophet without a vision. A song without a melody. A deejay without a hype. We welcome: @juhokahilainen, a Finnish Dj and producer who started his career by pushing techno tracks back in the nineties. Next to being a journalist and family man, Juho has had limited time devote to his passion for music. But despite this he has put out some releases on labels like BPitch Control, Prologue and M_Rec Ltd. He has also produced under his own label HYV, a label that concentrates on strictly “raw” music with machines like TR-909, TR-808, TR-606 and SH-101. Well that’s a lot said about the past, what about the present? Juho is currently working on his secont M_Rec release hopefully to be released vary soon. So grab your copy as soon as it hits the record shop. Also he working and releasing a second HYV featuring not only himself, but collaboration with Juho and his friend. We are truly thankful that we have the opportunity to broadcast this mix and would like to say that it reflects a warmth and soul that has been put into the making of this set.
