It's Sunday, and we're slowly approaching the last night of Monument 2026. Before the closing set, one of the more distinctive voices coming out of Japan's underground techno scene enters Varden. OCCA has spent more than twenty years building his sound and community in Sapporo and Tokyo. That sound is now travelling all over the world, and this night it will journey through the forest in Veggli. «I didn't plan my set in advance. Instead, I put a large selection of tracks I had in mind into a playlist. Once I arrived at the festival, I gradually shaped the set; enjoying the music, connecting with people, and taking in the nature and weather around me. I wanted to bring an energy that would feel powerful and danceable under the sunlight, while also incorporating something that would make people reflect on the time they had spent at the festival – as we moved towards the closing. I was unsure whether to play a track from a live recording featuring Suzanne Ciani performing with the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Simon Dobson. But when I saw how much the audience was yearning for the music, I felt confident enough to play it. I also can't forget the scene when the low end of Pearson Sound's “XLB (Allen Mock x Herbalistek Remix)” ran through the crowd like a tidal wave. When I left the booth, I was filled with joy and gratitude. Passing the baton from Feral, a longtime friend and an artist I deeply respect, to Efdemin, whom I have been a huge fan of since I first started DJing. After joining us at Monument Festival last year for a b2b with Beatrice M, Bambi now steps into the podcast series with a solo mix. “Starting with a meditative intro, the mix slowly moves through epic breaks into minimal, percussive and driving rhythms, getting deeper and more psychedelic along the way before opening into some pretty, trancey and dubby atmospheres. It's Saturday and we're crossing over from day to night. The set from 8pm—11pm is special because the sun goes to sleep behind the hills during this set, and we need a skilful navigator to help us with this transition. Behind the decks in Varden we find Andy Martin, Mexican-Jamaican electronic music producer and DJ. He is known for mixing sci-fi techno and dub elements with Latin Caribbean rhythms and native-inspired futuristic themes. Sounds like a fun way to start Saturday night. “I really loved my set time because it allowed me to transition from a more joyful daytime vibe into a deeper and more introspective mood as night arrived. The night brings a more subtle and intuitive experience. As darkness starts to fall, you can only perceive moving silhouettes on the dance floor, and everything becomes less visual and more about intuition, sound, and feeling. I was there for the whole festival, and I think it's really worth staying for the entire experience. We often have less than a day to transform an empty space into a fully functioning event, but experiences like these remind me that, with a dedicated and creative team, it's possible to build something extraordinary. It becomes less about resources and more about the people who are willing to create structure, solve problems, and make it happen. For this edition, we wanted to invite Cobahn and Scøpe while also continuing Monument's long standing commitment to giving space to emerging artists. Supporting new talent has always been an important part of our identity. It isn't always the easiest path, but we're fortunate to be in a position where we can embrace those challenges and help create opportunities for artists who deserve them. Their b2b felt loose and alive from the start. Wobbly low end, groovy, full of movement, with those bombastic, serotonin charged moments landing at just the right time. There was weight in the bass, but it never dragged. everything stayed in motion, fluid, breathing. The crowd followed. Tension building and dissolving in cycles, smiles turning into screams, small peaks opening into bigger ones. it felt lighthearted, almost effortless, but never lacking precision. What made it work was that balance. Playful but controlled, energetic but still elegant. A set that didn't try too hard, yet delivered fully, keeping the floor locked in and open until the very end.
